If you mean your battery and it is over 1 year old that may be as much of a charge as it can retain.  Batteries do lose the ability to maintain a charge over time.  How old is yours?

  • Bettery Not Charging 100%

I just purchased my MacBook Pro 1 week ago, and the battery does not charge to 100%, it only charges to 98% and does not go any further. In iStat it says my Battery health is at 99% and that I have had one cycle, can anyone help please?

Just remember this. Any product that you buy from Apple in less than two weeks, just go back to the Apple Store and get an exchange or in this case demand a battery replacement. You can reset the SMC which controls power functions for your computer but I still suggest that you either get a new computer or a new battery. Just make a reservation for the Genius Bar. Now as for the SMC reset. Turn off your computer. Unplug the MegSafe and remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds (time it preciously). Put the battery back and plug in the MegSafe. Now use the battery for half an hour or so and then charge it to see if it goes to 100%. If it does then problem solved, if it doesn't then you'll still have to go back to the store.

Did you try to calibrate the battery?
Discharge the battery fully (note: disable standby and hibernation mode in order to prevent the notebook from going into these modes automatically).
Then charge it again reappear this several times in the row
If this does not help, test a new battery

  • Battery will not charge 100%

Battery charges to 83% then hangs there although the indicator icon shows charging. On/off, unplug charger, restart have no effect.

You should calibrate your battery once a month.
Give it a full charge and discharge it to 0%.

  • Satellite A100- New or Old Battery is not charging

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A100-543 (PSAARE).
The original battery was not charging so I purchased a new one. Now the new one is not charging either. I then ordered a new charger before coming to this forum so Ill test that when it arrives but I think the problem will not be solved.
With the new Battery the Icon says "10% Usable, connected, charging". The Icon, when the laptop is first switched on, shows the charge bar moving (charging) but after a few moments stops.
With the old Battery the Icon says " connected, charging". It shows empty.
In both cases the Battery Green LED is on.
If I pull out the charger from the laptop the computer stops immediately.
Trawling the forums I see one proposed solution is a BIOS upgrade. I have BIOS version 5.80
    See: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/05/23/toshiba-satellite-a105-battery-charging-problem/comment-page-19/#comment-151154
However I cannot find my model (as above) on Toshiba's list! It was purchased in France and is out of warranty.
Again I am dubious than this will solve the problem.
Others point to the motherboard. How can I know this? If it is does anybody have an idea of cost?
I do hope that someone can help.
    Henry

I'm not going to immediately help but I think I have the same problem on my A200 Equium model 1V0, running Vista.
Existing battery has gone down to 5% power and of course I get warnings so I run on mains but I can run the laptop on the battery for a few minutes.
The charging light comes on for about 9 seconds and then goes out. The charging status changes from "on mains power, charging 5%" to "on mains power, not charging".
It's odd that I can flip the battery out while the mains is attached and when I re-insert it, there's a charging light and charging status is ok for 9 seconds. If I do this often enough I can boost the battery to 10% but then the charging light only flickers on for a moment and there's no further actual charging. I think the main board charging circuit can't handle any more than a small feedback charge.
I bought a new battery - the laptop won't run on this without mains power (in fact the charging light now only appears for a moment and no charging at all takes place).
I uninstalled and re-installed the power ACPI from device manager - no change.
I turned off laptop, removed battery and mains power and held down the power button for 15 seconds - no change.
I checked my mains adapter using a circuit tester - OK.
Oh, and I updated the BIOS to the latest version 2.5 - no change.
It looks like the main board charging circuit has a fault which is uneconomical to repair.
Unless someone out there knows differently??

  • TS3274 ipad connecting to laptop----not charging? to power----charging is not supported with this accessory.

anyone assist me. it was ok every time .now the charging very slow . one hour charge 1%. it is 1st generation. battery life running out?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Power book will not charge, battery just replaced.

Recently the power adapter or the power connector on my computer would easily disconnect from each other.
This morning I noticed that it was not charging at all, played around with it trying to jiggle it into place yet it does not have any connection.
Before I go and spend $100 on a new charger,or $200 on a service bill, is there a way to tell if it is the adapter or the connector on the powerbook.
I noticed on the cylindrical plug that the silver tube has seperated and was wondering if that would have to be sealed in order to maintain a ground.
I know it is not the battery as I was able to get one on warranty, through apple care, and it charged full last night, which it is showing 4 hours left.
    Thanks
    -jim

is there a way to tell if it is the adapter or the connector on the powerbook.
The easiest thing to do is go to an Apple store where they will have a working power adapter, or if you have a friend with one, use it. It sounds like the female socket itself may be shot, which would require replacing the DC-in card, which is around a $75+ part, plus labor to install.

  • Gnex will not charge in car power source anymore.

Does anyone know why Gnex will not charge in the car while it's on?. I changed the wire and the adapter for the power source. It worked at one time but now it does not. I even tried using the wire that came with my Gnex and still not charging while on. If I shut it down it will charge but not while it is on. HELP...

My Gnew does the same thing also. No rhyme or reason to it. I have done everything under the moon to fix it. Turn it off, take battery out, even bought a new charger, still hates me I brought my issue to my local Verizon store and got no results. Makes me upset that I pay over $100 a month for a smart phone that isn't very smart. I have been with Verzon since they took over Bell Atlantic and feel that loyalty means nothing. I would love to get a new phone but no upgrade for me till Jan 2014 I was told. So, I am stuck with a phone that decides when it will charge and barely holds that charge when it does. For the first time I am actually considering bailing ship and going to AT&T. Don't think my patience will last till Jan 2014.

I also have classic SMC symptoms (noisy fan, intermittant keyboard lights) and have tried SMC reset 2-3 times but am unsure if it has worked as power issue remains (another classic SMC symptom).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The battery conditions look decent, have you gone through the Troubleshooting MagSafe knowledge base article?
If nothing there helps, might be a good idea to make an appointment at an Apple genius bar and have the charger and computer checked out by the techs.  See if something else is wrong, such as the charging circuitry that doesn't show on the system report.

  • IPhone not charging and using more battery power while on charger and getting hot

I have an iPhone 4 and have had issues with it charging.  This has happened 3-4 times over the past few months, where I put it on the wall charger prior to going to sleep and wake up with 17-20% battery power.  Last night I placed it on the charger with approximately 70% battery power.  I believe it charged to 100%, I left it on the charger and when I woke this morning the phone was hot (hotter than charging it with the USB) and the power was at 17%.  Any suggestions on what I can do to rectify this issue?  After the iOS upgrade it did and I reset the phone, ran the power completely out and charged 100%.  I don't have any more apps open than usual.  Thanks for any help you can provide!

Having a similar problem with my 3G IPhone.  Battery life is fine but once I plug it in to charge it won't charge.  I have to reset my phone and then it will start to charge as long as I unplug it and then plug it in again.  This problem is something that is intermittent.  I reinstalled the firmware but the problem did not go away. Something that I have noticed is that when this takes place usually the GPS function cannot find my current location at the same time. Once the phone is rest the GPS is fine. The fact that I have reloaded the firmware and the problem has not gone away leads me to think that this is a hardware problem. Well we will see soon I am going to take it in to get checked out. This is sort of annoying but I love the IPhone it is great!!!!

  • Mid-2009 13" MBP says "not charging" but seems to be slowly charging with power adapter

I have a mid-2009 13" Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM.  I have the odd situation of the power indicator on top right of screen showing that the power adapter is plugged in, but the percentage indicator stating that the laptop is "not charging."  I have been working on the computer for several hours and the laptop has only charged to about 27 percent according to the battery health application that is runningI have.  It says the battery has gone through 281 cycles and is 2.4 years old.  It suggests the battery should still charge to 92 percent of its potential.  The battery is warm as is the power adapter cube, so something is happening.  The little light on the end of the power cord is green but only two of the little green dots light up on the left edge of the computer.
Any ideas if this is a battery, laptop, or power adapter problem?  Unfortunately, I don't have a second power adapter to test that idea.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Recalling another similar thread, I can recommend you thoroughly clean the male and female MagSafe connectors. The gold pins and pads must be shiny bright and totally debris free. Use a Q-Tip moistened with alcohol, disconnect the power brick beforehand. Also, make sure the rubberized area around the connector in the Mac, where the magnet lies and the steel ring around the cable connector nestles, is completely free of anything that can prevent the two from fully mating and ensuring a tight grip. Here's more info, look at the pics on #7: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713  (click on the triangles to have them drop and show the pictures)

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

    Hi there Apples or Pears,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the articles below.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen does not charge on new 5W USB power adapter

    Hi,
my perfectly functional ipod shuffle 2nd gen with original dock will not charge with the new Continental Europe 5W USB power adapter, even though the specs of the power adapter include the 2nd generation shuffle. Shuffle will blink orange three times, longer than normal blinking, and then do nothing. probably nothing I can do about it, but worth a note. The US model of the new 5W adapter does not include the 2nd gen shuffle, so maybe it is an error on the apple specs page.
Maybe the 2nd gen needs more than 5W to charge?

indeed, it needs the bigger 12 Watt Adapter and the apple site is wrong.
