Power Off Battery Drain? What's Up With Th

Hmmm I think i have heard about this issue before, but I just never knew why. You see, yesterday in the morning, before i left for school, i charged by zen micro using the ac adapter. When I came home, it was done charging and i unplugged it and let it sit on my desk. At 0 PM, i turned it on and only used it for 5 minutes(with medium volume and backlight off). I didn't charge it that night, so when i came home today at 4 PM and turned on my Zen Micro, i had lost a battery guage, so i was then down to 2. Does anybody know how I am suppose to "conserve" my battery power when it's OFF? Also when it is off, I hear some noise when i put my headphones half way in, so know the battery is still in use. What's going on? Can anybody please help me?

  • HELP! Battery drained and now, even with a power plug, computer won't start

My battery drained completely...and I went to charge it. When I plug the power cord in, it shows "green" not "red." When I remove the battery and just plug in the power cord, the computer won't start either.
Anyone encounter this before after a full battery drain? It's very odd.

I had the same green light non-charging problem. Turns out, I had to replace my wall adaptor. A dealer will have a good power supply you can try.

  • Why is the battery draining 10 percent faster with iOS 7?, Why is the battery draining 10 percent faster with iOS 7?

Since I installed iOS 7 the battery drains 10 percent faster than before. How do I fix this? And is there someway to turn off the feature that makes the background wallpaper moves since it makes me sick and nacious. Feeling that iOS 7 is a flop. First time since I've gotten a Apple product that I have to ask how things work and for the first time I am displeased with their operative system.
This made me buy a Samsung phone yesterday instead of the new iPhone. I don't want this iOS 7. It *****!

Not sure what "nacious" means, but you can turn off the movement wallpaper/icons in the settings: General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion > On
The iOS 7 includes many nifty features like the Control Center for instance.
Download the manual for iPad with iOS 7 here:

What could be wrong with my ipad?  it stops after a few seconds with "slide to power off" noted.

Settings are OK, but the internal power supply is on the verge of failure. Soon, you will not be able to turn the Time Capsule on at all after it turns off.
Take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store....if you have one near you....to discuss your options.
    Otherwise, contact Apple Support.

  • How to disable power off when the phone is locked with pass code.

Can anyone teach me how to disable power off function when the phone is locked?  With this , user is able To trace the iPhone when it goes missing. Besides, users will have enough time to remote wiped.

i also had my phone stolen ... the first thing they did was turn off the phone so i couldnt track them.. you should need to enter your passcode in order to turn off the phone. i dont care if you cant do a hard reset.. i would rather loose the ability to do a hard reset for the added security .. besides without hard reset if it jammed badly i would just wait ontill the battery died.

The light on my power cord is orange. What is wrong with it and how can I fix my computer?

You have a Macbook Pro. A Mac Pro is a desktop. The light on your power cord is orange when it's charging. It turns green once it's fully charged.

  • 3.1.2 EXTREME battery drain - what gives?

Ever since uploading to 3.1.2 (worst mistake ever)...I can get barely ANY time out of my battery. For instance, today I had roughly 35% remaining battery when I sent a SMS to a friend. We steadily texted each other back and forth for about 20 minutes. Texting was the ONLY thing I was doing on the phone. After 20 minutes, I was down to 18% battery left.
This is just unacceptable. This had my my iPhone nearly unusable, as I'm constantly searching for a power source to charge it.
Push is off, notifications are off, wifi is off, location services are off, bluetooth is off.
I've restored to 3.1.2 at least 6 times already.
This is ridiculous. Has anyone else had this nightmare since updating to 3.1.2? How can I fix this?

Says you - what about the others of us that are just fine and got better ?
You sell a mobile device as the best in the world, yet the support is crappy.
How so ? They sell a product - and the millions of happy users says its good - not Apple.
Pull your finger out Apple, please.
Nobody from Apple reads and responds to this forum, not least of people who make such coments.
My phone is slow, I charge my battery with the Ac adapter and about 30 seconds after pulling out the connector, it is down to 95%. Within hours it is down to the 30% range. I have wifi, BT, Location Service all off. I don't even check email on it and don't search the web very often, just in case it goes dead.
Just about every time I restart the phone it says no service, I have to keep toggling the Airplane mode to get service back.
At what point do you figure out your phone is actually faulty ? Take it to the Apple Store and get it sorted, or do you expect them to call on you ? Expecting a flag to pop out of the side saying 'take to shop' ?
I assume its out of warranty given you're expecting a miraculous software update to solve such an obvious hardware fault ?

  • Is it the hard drive? and battery?   What's up with my specs? 3 threads?

My battery had not been fully recharging for a while. For weeks, it would "max out" at a lower percentage, lowering incrementally pretty much weekly. No, I am not eligible for the recall.
One fitful night, I came home to a shut down computer. When it powered on, I heard a very loud hard drive and saw a prohibitive sign, the "no smoking sign" as I called it. After several such attempts, I went for the included in purchase CDs, which I hadn't seen since I bought it/
I can start from the restore CD and have faced some varying results.
Most of the time, I can't see the hard drive as an option to install Mac Os X 10.3 ish. Once, I was able to see and select the hard drive. All got stuck after it told me that I would have to change installation options since I had a newer version of Mac Os X. (I read in maxoshints that someone uses his freezer and toaster to manipulate temperatures in order to rescue data from Mac hard drives.)
Both Startup Disk and Disk Utility saw the hard drive that one time since the fitful night.
An Apple store "Genius" had agreed with me that the hard drive was busted, but now I can see 74.5 GB TOSHIBA MK8025GAS in the list on the left. It does not show any volumes under it, like the 3.9 GB CD does (iBook Software). I can "info" and see that it even has a device tree.
I cannot drag and drop to Restore. RAID and Partition do not seem to apply.
Erase seems my best option and it seems to have been able to "write zeros" but not "8 track randomize."
...I am now trying to "partition" and I can see the progress bar waving, not progressing. Clicking on other tabs makes them flash, but not dominate the window. I am able to use the menu bar and quit, which prompts me that I am interrupting. The screen fades and the computer stops making noise after a long time, but still no progress.
Please advise. What should I do? What can I do? I have begun trying to learn about hard drives, but find the technology convoluted. I can't sort out my choices.... for example, when I try and look up my specs, I can't find an A1054 on apple's website. There's a M9623LL/A .
I'm typing this on a M9846LL/A, which is actually an A1133?!!?
The A1054 is a refurb, but the A1133 is not.
Bonus points for helping me understand, progress toward goal of working computer!

Besides your other issues, it may simply be time for a new battery. The batteries not only have a limited number of complete charge cycles, they also have a shelf life that could expire even if you've never used it. Here is a little bit of information from Apple on batteries:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
As far as your hard drive is considered, I'm guessing you don't have an AppleCare Protection Plan? It really does sound like the hard drive is failing. Have you started up from your Apple Hardware Test disk yet and run the extended tests?
If you decide to replace your hard drive that's out of warranty, you just need a 2.5" IDE/ATA hard drive that's less than 9.5mm tall. (This is a standard configuration for notebooks.) While it's possible to install yourself, it's quite the operation and you may want to take your iBook to an Apple Authorized Service Provider to do it for you. Or you might consider sending your iBook in to a service like MCE Technologies to do it for you.

  • Sleep vs Power Off - battery usage?

on my 2nd gen iPod Touch, being in sleep mode when not using (rather than powering off) doesn't seem to significantly affect battery charge - i.e., little if any battery charge loss is noticed
So, on a 5th gen iPod Touch, does sleep mode (e.g., overnight) significantly drain the battery or would it be more like my 2nd gen experience?
    Thank you

Because when sleeping the 5G/iOS 6 and 7 are doing more and thus draining the battery faster.

  • My Iphone5 battery drained off not turning on

I have an iphone5, I was not able to charge it on time and it just turned off(battery drained off), when after some time I plugged it for charging it never charged, I have tried different methods to turn it on like hold down  home button + Lock button for a minute, also toggled the vibration button while pressing both (Home + Lock) button. But not able to see any respons on the screen. My phone is not under warranty and I need to use it on urgent basis. Kindly suggest.

    Hey Ankit Baria,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing power issues with your iPhone 4s. To completely isolate the issue, you may want to follow these steps:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    1. Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    2. Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    3. Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    4. After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    5. If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    6. Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    7. If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

  • MBP battery drains in sleep when charger has no power

At home I regularly plug my MBP's charger into an outlet that's on a light switch. When I'm done working for the night, I put the laptop to sleep and then turn off the light. Usually (since I'll be leaving first thing in the a.m. and the charger cord is kind of in the way) I unplug the charger and stow it, but every now and then I just leave the laptop plugged in and turn off the light.
I've discovered that when I do this--leave the fully-charged, sleeping laptop attached to an adaptor that is not getting power--the battery drains until the point that the laptop goes into hibernation. So when it wakes up, less than 10% charge is left.
In all other respects I have no problem with the battery and resting overnight (unplugged) it only loses a percent or two of its charge.
Is this a bad adaptor, possibly?

I'm not sure how that helps me figure out the problem. I suppose I'm still having problems expressing myself clearly.
You have expressed yourself very clearly. I got it from reading your original post.
The only thing I can come up with is somehow the charger or the Macbook is bleeding power back through the charger into the electrical lines.
There should not be any voltage at the AC prongs of the charger when it is connect to the MBP. The flow of current should only be one way. You can check this with good multi meter.

  • What's up with my battery?

I have an HP G71 with a fairly new battery. The original battery I had for this thing died, and I had to spend a good $300 replacing it from HP. After replacing it, everything went fine, until I begin to realize that it was plugged in, not charging. I ran a battery check and it said I had to replace it. Like I said, this battery is only about 2-3 months old, and was suposed to last twice as long as a normal battery. What's up with that? I don't have the money to go buy a new battery, and I just bought this one.
    Failure ID: REOOW

First and foremost, be aware that these batteries have a very definite life to them, based on the quantity of full recharge cycles. From what I've seen in the forums, "normal" use will kill a battery in about eighteen months.
If you're in warranty, a battery replacement is, of course, free. The out-of-warranty cost is $60.
Before you send it in to Apple, read this link. You just might learn something that will help you out.
