Power option settings not responding
HP e9237 c desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium.
Power settings for monitor and computer do not respond for sleep, hibernate or power off functions. Screen saver does not work using Windows version or third party ones. In addition, the auto play for the CD/DVD drives do not work. This started several months back and I have exhausted all tests that I know to do. Any help would be appreciated. Ted
Hello tevans9129,
What you seem to be referring to is a system recovery which will recover the system back to it's original state. However, if you use system restore this restores the computer back to a specific point in time. Say you know the computer worked January 1st. You can go into System Restore on your computer and tell it to restore your system back to how it was working on January 1st. The entire process shouldn't take more than an hour.

K430 ignores windows power options settings
I have a brand new Ideacentre K430. One of my main annoyances with it is that, regardless of how I set Windows power option settings, it logs me out after just one minute idle time, and then requires a password to log me in again.
This is despite my having set the display to shut off after 45 minutes, to never go to sleep, and not to require a password on wakeup.
This is really annoying, as my work often involves switching back and forth between the computer and books/papers, so I need to be able to leave it a minute without retyping my password. Can somebody help?!
Solved!
Go to Solution.Ok, I solved the problem. Right-click on the desktop, click personalize, then click on screen saver. Even if you have it set for no screen saver, it still uses the setting there for a period of inactivity to log you off. This gives you options for delaying that forced log-off, or not requiring a password afterward.

Power off button not responding
Power off switch not responding... Help!
Try to reset the device (try it even though as you said the power button (or sleep/wake switch) is not functioning)
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
If the switch is indeed physically bad, you can get by in the meantime (or until you can get it evaluated/fixed) by using the the AssistiveTouch panel (this floats a virtual button on the screen that you can use to access various funtions of the iPad, one of them being the sleep/wake switch). I use this all the time, even though my buttons are just fine (cuts down on wear/tear on the physical buttons).
AssitiveTouch: Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch (set to ON) -
Updated to IOS 8 and now power button does not respond and screen is frozen with apple logo.
Updated iPad to IOS 8 -- screen locked. Now screen is frozen with apple logo and the power button is not responding.
Thanks for any help! That is normal while it is loading the update. Give it some time(shouldn't be more than 40 minutes). If not, hold the home & sleep/wake button until it is black, and then it restarts.

Hi all,
my customer has a lot of WS-C2960XR-24PS-I (15.0(2)EX4) 24 and 48 Port switches, some are in a stacks, others not. All have 2 Powersupplies.(each 640 Watt)
Now he notice this message every 5 minutes, but not on all switches.
Looking at the switch, the PS seems to be ok.
There is a known issue, but this one only mention the problem during insertion, not during normal runningtime.
What can be the problem here?
Thanks
Willem

Power Options Settings keep resetting back to default and system goes to sleep.
Hi I have Windows Server 2012 Standard R2 installed on one of my servers, in which there is an issue with the power settings. In power options it keeps selecting the Balanced plan by default. Even if I manually change the power plan it still keeps resetting
back to the default Balanced plan which in turn puts the System to sleep after 4 hours. Please let me know if there is a way to resolve this issue. I have even tried using powercfg -SETACTIVE from command prompt by giving the appropriate Power Scheme
GUID. But it didn't work either. Anyone please help me with this issue. Thanks in advance.Again, this is something outside the bounds of Windows Server. Windows Server does not do that. I looked at default installations of both physical and virtual servers and there is nothing there to cause a sleep or power off.
In fact, the only real power setting I see in the Balanced power plan is to turn off the display after x amount of time.
Do you have power savings enabled on your NIC card? Is there some setting in VMware?

Power button is not responding
Hi,
Today I shut down my macbook and then I tried to turn it on but it seems the powerbutton is not working. I have tried all of the diff types of resets and the PMU... nothing seems to work. I am out of the country and can't go to a mac store. Is there another command that can bypass the power button, or is it possible to open up the computer and press the powerbutton a different way? Any help is great.
JonI have a white Macbook that has the same problem. Has been shutting down on its own for months, and then after putting it to sleep a few days ago, it will not power up. I tried all of the tricks to reset the power settings, and after speaking with Apple tech support, I most likely have a bad power module on the motherboard and it will need to be serviced. What seems to point to this problem is, after trying all of the other methods--resetting power settings, re-seating battery, etc.--the light on the mag safe cord is green. If the plug is not making good contact, the light probably won't turn on. If this is the case follow the instructions for cleaning the contacts. If it makes contact, but is charging the battery properly, it will turn amber. In my case, the light is green, but the battery is not getting charged, as indicated by the indicator button on the battery case. So one would think to remove the battery and run the computer using the power cord. The computer still did not respond, so that means no power is getting through due to the bad module.

Problem with Youtube and Flashplayer : some options are not responding anymore
I have a very strange problem since few days only on Youtube (other famous flashvideo websites are working without problem) I tried many things already without success.
I can still play videos on youtube, excepted the buttons under the player are not responding AT ALL. I can still see them but it's not responding (or for exemple when Im going on the youtube player "Sound" icon the bar volume doesn't appear)
I tried already to uninstall flashplayer and update it to the last version (10...38) but no changes. I have the same problems on all browers (IE; Firefox and Chrome). I also reset all Firefox and IE without success. Reinstall Java. And I have the last drivers for my graphic ard AMD.
Here is a few pics to show my problem :
You can see clearly that the button for resolution doesn't appear at all.
Picture of my youtube player :
on Firefox :
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/607/firefoxu.jpg/
on IE
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/225/29761205.jpg/
Quite strange also on IE you can see that there is a kind of bar who seems to block me the access to the control of the youtube player icons :
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/812/ie2q.jpg/
Im on Windows 7 64Bits, but i'm using the 32Bits version of Firefox and IE, I tried also to turn OFF my Avast Antivirus and my firewall. But no changes.
If anyone has an idea, i would really appreciate because even if i can still watch video, i cannot change the audio volume of it and change the resolution or even activate the google subtitles options. The only icons who are responding on the youtube players are the two on the right (to enlarge the screen).
Regards,

Keyboard boot keys (option) do not respond..
Hi all,
I have white intel 2 iMac's.
Both of them do not respond to the OPTION key while booting.
Nor the they respond to C, D, X, etc. etc.
I tried both types of keyboards. The white one that came with the iMacs & the new aluminum ones.
I went to the an apple store where they hooked my iMac to a white keyboard, and it worked immediately. The same keyabord I tried @ home!!!
Ok, I thought.
Must have been some stupid thing I did wrong, but upon testing it at home again, no success.
So, has anybody else had this happening to them?
Is it fixable? It seems like the keyboard firmware is out of date or something like that.
Software update indicates that everything is up to date.
Ideas anyone?Hi -P5ycHO-
There might be a compatibility issue with the new Aluminum Keyboards depending on which iMac you have.
However, it is strange that the Keyboard at the Apple Store worked and not the original one that came with the iMac. Perhaps you are not applying and holding the Option key and the proper time or the Option key is busted?
Suggestions:
1. Try holding the Option and other Startup keys right after the startup chime.
2. Take the Keyboard to the Apple Store and test it to see if works on there iMacs.
3. Update your Discussions Profile and iMac to 10.5.8 the current version of Leopard.

Desktop and Screensaver Settings (Not Responding)
The other day, I was looking through my wallpapers under System Settings. I tried to open up downloads to see all of the pictures that I have downloaded and then System Settings locked up and changed its status to (Application Not Responding). When I force quit System Settings I get this error report:
I've had my 2011 iMac for around 8-9 months. The only thing difference between it and a brand new 2011 iMac is that I've upgraded it's RAM to 12GB.

My touch just stopped playing as if out of power, but is not responding when plugged in
My iPod touch just stopped playing as if out of power, but it is not responding when plugged in. I've left it plugged in for about an hour and still nothing. I'm not sure how to reset. Any suggestions would be welcomed....

I had problems all last week with my Office applications not responding. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software which did not solve the problem. I then did a samsung 5 recovery to factory state and installed office all over again which temporally
worked. My computer then prompted a windows live update after which the same problem came back with windows application not responding.
