Power Point Custom Animations
I have used Power Point for the PC quite a bit, but am having trouble doing some of the same things on my Mac. I am trying to animate some bulleted text, but want to animate each bullet separately. Everytime I try, it makes the whole text box have the same animation scheme. Anyone know how to separate each bullet out to have separate animation?
Now this may not be as elegant as you would like, but you can do it by making each bullet a separate text box.
1. enter your first bullet; select it; create a character build
2. insert text; enter text (you can add a bullet image if desired); character build.
3. rinse; repeat
This adds a step from what you may have used in ppt, but it also gives you an added degree of control over the location of your bullets.

Bring back preservation of animations when creating PDF from Power Point
I understood, that PDF maker allowed for MS Office 2003 Power Point an option of preserving animations, and then since MS Office 2007 this option is gone.
I rely just on description of that, and I personally never tested this functionality in Power Point 2003.
Still, for me it is unclear, why this functionality has been removed. Is it in order not to cannibalize Adobe Presenter sales? Then it is a clear mistake, as these two in this respect do not really overlaps. Or, is it because of ISO 32000 standardization? But then anyway what Acrobat offer is number of "extensions" on top of standard.
I have a PPTX with by paragraph animation, and I do not want to make a video, as I wish that presentation would be printable.
Current situation is going against teh vfery idea of PDF to preserve the exact content of teh file, which here, in part of animations, that I consider a part of substantial, not processual content, is missing. You can preserve slide transitions but not animations within the slides themselves - page content such as a bullet point list cannot be faded/moved/etc in a PDF file.

Export standard and Custom report to xls / word / power point ??
Hi
Apps: 12.1.3
DB 11gR1
Is there any tool so that i can save standard and Custom report to xls / word / power point ??
Thanks
VishwaThere are a few third party tools that let you do that.
Some such tools are Monarch, Rep2excel etc.
Google for "convert oracle report to excel" and you will get a few more hits.
The best way to get it in Excel is to change the output format to XML and write a quick XML publisher template.
Hope this helps

Exporting to power point -- won't play some animations/.mov files
I had to export a keynote presentation to power point for a co worker.
When I open the file on a PC, I get a message saying that "PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects in the file because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover the lost information." There is only one slide that has been unaffected -- one or two have the barest text in them, and that's only partial. The rest are completely blank.
In addition, the export created a folder with some .mov files in it. I'm guessing that at least some of these files are for an animation in the slides.
Can anyone tell me what is going on -- has anyone else gotten this message? It's PowerPoint 2007 if that makes any difference. To begin with, exporting KN to PP, or vice-versa, often results in an inexact translation. Sometimes there is no noticable difference, but there are often problems, ranging from small to insoluble, for any number of reasons. In addition, even with the same app, PP, for instance, one on a Mac and the other on a PC, going from one OS to another sometimes results in problems. And finally, just plain transporting a presentation from one machine to another, even with the same OS, can be a problem.
It seems you have at least two problems, which should be tackled in order, and the first one is KN to PP on your Mac. Does this play fine, or are there problems? This must be answered and resolved, if possible, before going on to the PP/Mac > PP/Windows or transport part. -
Animation and Power Point : urgent
Hi
I have to prepare a presentation very soon and i am looking
for the following answer:
I have a Power Point presnetation witn animation and i will
like to import this power point presnetation in a Captivate
presentation. Could you tell me if it is possible to import the
power point and get also the animation.
If it is not possible to get the animation, is it possible to
export a Captivate présentation in a power point presentation.
Finally, could you tell me if it is possible to give effect
to an objet. I mean, i will like to show an object get in the slide
slowly.
Thank youHi ocimada
I'm not suggesting what Mark offered here isn't valid. But if
you don't have quite the budget in mind for Flash or Swish...
You can accomplish the sliding in of objects using a
different product. Admittedly Flash and Swish are stronger in the
flexibility area, but there are other tools out there you can use
that are in the lower price range and without the hefty learning
curve associated with Flash or Swish. One such tool I've used in
the past is called "Firestarter".
the site There is a free download that will let you try it out.
Maybe it will help?
However, if you have Flash or Swish and are well versed in
using either tool, by all means use them. But my guess is that you
don't, because if you did, you wouldn't be asking the question of
how to do it.
LOL, hey Mark. Was that by chance a Freudian slip?
(Contact me offlist if I left you wondering with
this statement)

Importing Power Point Slides into FCE
Hey all,
Have a project where I need to use a customer's power point slides in the finished video. Can I import them someway? Or maybe import into Live Type????
Trying to avoid having to type all of them.
Thanks,
AlYou can save a PowerPoint slideshow in many ways.
One possibility is to export a set of images with the format you like: jpeg, tiff, png, etc.: make sure to select the correct DPI (as defined in PPT) in the Options of the save as dialog. For example 180 dpi make a standard slide of 1800x1350 pixels that might fit well in standard DV sequences (default 72 dpi makes a low quality 720x540 image).
A second possibility is to export a movie; also in this case you can choose some parameters like the size of the frame. The default codec is Animation that is good, but requires a conversion of the movie in order to properly import it to FCE.

Hi All
The custom animation set in power point is not reflected
while the slides are imported into captivate. Imported slides are
appearing as image. Is there any settings. Please clarify
ThanksFCE cannot open a PowerPoint. You'd need to export into a video format that is supported in FCE.

Pop-ups (custom animations) work in PPT presentation, but don't in published presenter PDF. I created a file in PowerPoint 2003 that allows the user to click on words in a graphic and have definitions of the word pop-up. This only works in the PPT presentation, it does not work when I publish the file to PDF using Adobe Presenter, version 7.0.5, build 7588. Any suggestions?
MKO,
That's not entirely surprising. Unfortunately, what you're doing cannot be replicated or executed properly in Presenter content, because trigger functions are essentially Active X controls native to the PowerPoint environment. And that's the problem: Active X commands are totally ignored when your deck is converted during the publishing process.
So what to do?
You have 2 options, and neither are "clean" solutions because each represents a bit of homework.
Scenario 1: what you could do is create a series of hidden slides that are associated with / correspond to each of the text elements you have on the first slide. You'd have to assign hyperlinks to the text boxes and then point the hyperlinks to the associated hidden slide. The upside here is that if you have to edit any content after-the-fact, is that you can conduct such edits directly in PowerPoint. But there is a drawback too; namely, that if you have to keep track of slide views, hidden slides are not tracked at all by LMSs (including Adobe Connect), so you'd have to come up w/ a formula for counting the number of visible slides so your presentation will mark a "complete" on the LMS.
Scenario 2: create a Flash interaction that effectively does the exact same thing. The drawback to this I hope is obvious: if you have any content edits, then you're forced to edit the file directly in Flash. The good news here, however, is that this solution only requires one slide, so you can effectively keep track of slide views if that's something you need if the course is deployed on an LMS.
Again, perhaps not ideal, but the above does represent alternative solutions to what you attempted to do in your sample deck.

Power point bullet point numbering
Hi,
I have just converted a PowerPoint presentation to a captivate course, entering questions etc. throughout.
3 or 4 of the slides have numbered bullet points, and 2 of those slides the number sequence wasn't kept. it just lists each point as 1. (there are six 1.'s rather than 1-6).
In the PowerPoint slide the numbering is 1-6, in the working captivate file (captivate 7) it is 1-6, and in the edit in PowerPoint screen it is 1-6.
In the preview or published versions it is there are 6 bullets all numbered 1.
Any thoughts? You cant change the bullet timing easily (at least not in a
straight forward way)
after importing in Captivate. However those timings already
present in power point slides are honored by Captivate. You need to
ensure you do the following in the powerpoint animations so that it
appears automatically:
1. Go to Timing tab
2. Change the Start to "After previous"
3. Delay to (say 5 sec)
If you are still not able to do, please send me the sample
ppt file (or some slides) : [email protected] -
Power Point Import Audio Question
When I import a Power Point with audio the audio plays in my captivate file but does not appear in the library nor in the audio management area, and I can not find the audio file anywhere within captivate. Any ideas?
Can you see in the center of the slide where it gives you the
animation or click box properties, like "Click Box (646x484)"? If
you drag the right edge of the slide you will see that there are
two layers - one is a click box layer and one is an animation
layer. Also, make sure your timeline is fully expanded at the top
of the editing window - you should be able to see separate items
for audio, click box, animation and anything else you have on the
slide. If you don't see that, then click on the right pointing
arrow next to the "timeline" caption to expand the view of the
timeline. Good luck! -
Portrait power point not formatting correctly in keynote
I am moving from a pc to a mac. Most of the work that I would have created in pages on a mac was created in power point. From what I can tell is that keynote doesn't handle portrait mode. I really don't want to spend hours reformatting all my files. Is there an easy solution to this issue?
Thanks! Most of the work that I would have created in pages on a mac was created in power point.
Pages is a text creation tool from Apple used to create printed paper output, not for creating presentations.
PowerPoint is a presentation tool from Microsoft used to create screen based presentations.
Keynote is a presentation tool from Apple, used to create screen based presentations.
From what I can tell is that keynote doesn't handle portrait mode.
Keynote can present presentations in either; portrait, view or square formats; Inspector > Document >Document > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size
I really don't want to spend hours reformatting all my files
If you have existing PowerPoint files they can be imported into Keynote and saved as Keynote files in whatever size format they were created in. -
I just tried to copy text from power point to a word document. Since then the word document is frozen an shows no reaction. Also can not restart word. Can anyone help me to unfreeze or recover the word document?
If the PDF page content is an image (for text that'd by the image that any scanner provides) then it is an image that exports to Word.
Regardless, Adobe Reader cannot export PDF page content, cannot create PDF and cannot manipulate PDF page content.
Adobe Reader is a PDF viewer only.
Perhaps you have a subscription to one of Adobe's online subscription services.
(ExportPDF, PDF Pack, etc.)
Each of the online subscription services have their own dedicated user-2-user forums.
Easy find as there here in Adobe's Forums. Hmmm, just dumping somewhere means ... Ah well, won't go there. Miss Manners would not approve eh.

Can I export in Power Point or PDF Xcelsious Dashboard if BICS is used?
Dear All,
Is it possible to export in Power Point or PDF the Dashboard that is created by Xceslius in case the Business Intelligence Consumer Service (BICS) is used to retrieve Data from SAP BW?
I am placing this question because we are at the point of deciding which method of connectivity between Xcelsious and SAP BW will be selected bearing in mind that our customer would like to distribute dashboards in PPT or PDF format apart from viewing them within SAP EP.
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards,
MikeHi Mike,
This won't work when you export to PDF/PPT. You have to publish the SWF to the SAP BW system and launch it from there if you want to run it with live data from BW.
Check this for more info: http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/FAQaboutXcelsiusandSAPNetWeaverBI+Connection#FAQaboutXcelsiusandSAPNetWeaverBIConnection-BWasadatasource
