Power Point won't run

Suddenly the Power Point application won't run properly it open but it would not run the presentation. Any solution to this matter?

Since PowerPoint is not an Apple product, you'll probably want to use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups> rather than an Apple forum that focuses on compatibility issues between Macs and Windows.

POWER SAVER won't run! Satellite A105

Please read this very carefully, as I have tried to make this as detailed as possible. I have had this problem before, and when I installed the new BIOS driver, it fixed itself. I am not so lucky this time. Also, please AVOID recommending to use my restore CD, because I know it is possible to fix this problem without it, and the restore CD is the easy/convenient answer on how to fix this.
Ok so I just installed the new BIOS software, and now my TOSHIBA Power Saver will not run. I am using a Satellite A105-S4284 on Windows XP SP2. When I boot the computer, I get this message:
TPSODDCtl.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 21 could not be located in the dynamic link library TPSMainCtl.dll.

I know this refers to the power saver, but I do not know what to do about it.
Additionally, I have searched other forums on this issue. When I open the Control Panel and switch to classic view, the TOSHIBA Power Saver icon is there. I double click it, and I get this message:
Cannot open, as "TOSHIBA Power Saver" is not running.
In order to run this, Please open "Power Options" in the control panel, then choose "TOSHIBA Power Saver"from the "Power Schemes" list box in the "Power Schemes Page"

I open the power options, and the toshiba power saver scheme is already chosen. I tried applying a different one and switching back, but this did not help.
I tried reinstalling both the Power Saver AND the common modules from the TOSHIBA drivers website, and that also did not help. I tried uninstalling the Power Saver all together, and I get this error message:
Unable to locate the installation log file 'C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Power Saver\uninst.isu'. Uninstallation will not continue.
I opened up the Power Saver folder in the above location, and there are two files: TPSTrace (a plain text file) and TPwrSetup.$$$ (note: the '$' are not errors, thats what it says). The plain text file contains this message:
A Fatal error has occured. This program will be terminated. Code: 0x45A Location: TPSDel.cpp(230)

You are funny and very fast in defending Toshiba, but not giving a solution - the forums are supposed to be for users to help each other and that is why I asked if they did fix it or found a solution - because I DID NOT!
1. I have not fixed it yet - I do not have the time to try it as I spend most of the days (all of them) trying to bring some cash at home, as I am not a employee, but a self-employed.
2. my system works very well - thank you and if Toshiba Power saver gives so many problems it means that it is a 'critical' install on a Windows environment
3. I am not blaming Toshiba for this problem, but I am blaming Toshiba for not doing anything to 'help' to fix it
4. you cannot force a user to re-install at factory settings for several reasons:
a. if you do that you will have a system dated 2004! and I mean you will have to do a re-install (which means loosing all your setting the way you like - that is why one buys portable computer!)
b. re-install XP SP3, re-install all your programs, re-load all your files and folders the way you work with it every day and I work with 20 to 25 files at once and the browser usually opened on about 30/35 tabs and it is not easy to reset it the way I work faster and produce - all hardware drivers, Toshiba updates ...
c. then after you spent a full working day (which I do not have) you may find that the Toshiba Power Utility stopped to work again - for whatever reasons!
Worst of all, one has to do all this 'knowing' their system is in good condition as I am not one of those people that deletes programs instead of un-installing them properly, etc. - I do now how to use a Computer after 25 years working with them I do a defragmentation every week together with a chkdsk (which usually fix most system problems by itself), clean it from Internet muck!
What I do everyday at work is to fix other people problems (software and hardware) and give their computer back as if it was new and perfect order and I do not charge them if they are back or charge a Premium phone call too.
So, my system is fine and if you do not have anything to do but just attack users on this forum, you are in the wrong place - if you have a solution other than re-install, let us know.
We are supposed to help each other here.

ADDITION on point 3: instead of forcing customers to reload everything and waste a lot of time, why Toshiba does not create a simple EXE that checks all the settings/drivers/programs are fibe and if they are not fix iy. Like many 'serious' Programs do when you have a problem (usually German Programs or northern Europe in general). A programs repairer without the need to re-install anything!

POWER POINT WON'T LAUNCH

I purchased new computer and Win 2007 and Office professional 2010 in Sept. am running When i try to launch Power Point it says cant launch MSVCR80.dll is missing, but when I do drive search there are 7 instances. how do i point PP to the dll

Mscvr80.dll is a file used by the "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" to help run several advanced features in the various software tools on your PC.
What’s the version of your OS?
I suggest using SFC to scan and fix the system file errors.
1.
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
2.
Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc
/scannow
Note: The sfc
/scannow command scans all system files and will recover the corrupted ones.

Exporting to power point -- won't play some animations/.mov files

I had to export a keynote presentation to power point for a co worker.
When I open the file on a PC, I get a message saying that "PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects in the file because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover the lost information." There is only one slide that has been unaffected -- one or two have the barest text in them, and that's only partial. The rest are completely blank.
In addition, the export created a folder with some .mov files in it. I'm guessing that at least some of these files are for an animation in the slides.
Can anyone tell me what is going on -- has anyone else gotten this message? It's PowerPoint 2007 if that makes any difference.

To begin with, exporting KN to PP, or vice-versa, often results in an inexact translation. Sometimes there is no noticable difference, but there are often problems, ranging from small to insoluble, for any number of reasons. In addition, even with the same app, PP, for instance, one on a Mac and the other on a PC, going from one OS to another sometimes results in problems. And finally, just plain transporting a presentation from one machine to another, even with the same OS, can be a problem.
It seems you have at least two problems, which should be tackled in order, and the first one is KN to PP on your Mac. Does this play fine, or are there problems? This must be answered and resolved, if possible, before going on to the PP/Mac > PP/Windows or transport part.

Powerbook won't run off of battery - requires PMU reset to power up with AC

Like everyone else posting here, my powerbook won't run from the battery. I have two batteries, one that came with the computer 3 - 4 years ago and a newer one that I purchased about 1 year ago. When I am plugged into AC using iStat Nano the newer battery shows cycles 173, health 89%. The older battery show cycles 0 and health 100% (go figure!). Both batteries just say 'calculating' on the tool bar battery meter. The light around the AC adapter plug always shows green as if the batteries are fully charged.
Here is where my post differs from the others. Once I shut down the computer I can't power it up again with reseting the PMU. I've tried reseting NVRAM and deleting and re-establishing the powermanagement plist as suggested elsewhere on this forum to no avail.
Is the PMU something that can be replaced? How is it related to DC-IN? I've read elsewhere here that is another problem that could cause these symptoms. Has anyone had these two components repaired and did it fix the problem? How much did it cost?

I had the same experience. I have 10.4.10 on the cloned drive but the battery is still not charging. I decided to take a closer look at the battery updater instructions and discovered that even though I am at 10.4.11 on my Powerbook the BatteryUpdater.bundle was at revision 1.1.3 and hadn't been updated since Jan 6, 2006. So I downloaded the BatteryUpdate that is posted at the top of this forum and installed it. It has made no difference in the operation of the computer. The AC adapter still isn't charging the battery although the green ring light is on which usually indicates the battery is charged. furthermore, when I go back and look at the date and version number on the BatteryUpdater.bundle they haven't changed. Who knows what the update actually changed! There is no mention of it running in the software update log. My system profiler says:
The battery is installed
Full charge Capacity 3890
Remaining Capacity 0
Cycle Count 173
AC adapter cannot charge battery: YES
By the way, my battery is a replacement battery.
I have just about exhausted all my option other than taking it into an Apple repair store and I'm not sure at this point I want to give Apple any more of my money. I am going to live with it the way it is for a while in the hopes that someone will post a fix for the problem. Good luck with your investigation. T61 power adaptors do nothing - won't run computer & won't charge battery

My T61 suddenly won't run on the power adaptor, or charge the battery. I have several OEM power adaptors and none of them do anything plugged into this T61. The computer runs fine on a battery charged in another T61.

Assuming the power adapters are good, you'll need to replace the motherboard.

17" MacBook Pro won't run on AC power

Ok, this is a unique situation and I have searched the forums and can't find an answer, my early MacBook pro will not run on straight AC power, it will power up and run on battery power and the battery WILL charge while the machine is powered OFF but will not charge while the machine is on, so anybody have a solution?
Will run on battery power, will not run with battery removed on AC Only, battery will charge with AC adapter ONLY when machine is powered down, will NOT charge when machine is on.

Ok, booted into safe mode still same results , won't run on AC power, turn unit off light turns orange on power adapter and battery charges as normal, AC adapter plugged in light is green not charging while unit in on and will not run with battery removed, if I remove MagSafe it intermittently turns orange then back to green....Still perplexed as machine knows AC adapters connected and will charge but will not power or charge when unit is on.

I have the same problem with the store. I click the link, and it looks like the store is loading. However, all I get is a white screen.
Also, my new Iphone 4s will only get to "step 2 of 5, backing up iphone." I left the phone connected to the computer all night, and when I woke up, it was still at the same spot, with no progress made.

All of a sudden my mac won't open power points that I have saved on my flashdrives

I have microsoft office 2010 for my mac. All of a sudden when I try to open power points i have saved on flash drives, I get gebberish and they don't open. It isnt the flash drive because it is happening on every one I try to open.

It could be opening it in a different (incompatible) application. If you have Office for Mac 2008 or 2011 then try opening Microsoft Office on your Mac first, and then opening the relevant Microsoft Office document.
As MGW has said, Microsoft Office 2010 is the Windows version, and will not run on a Mac. If you do not have a Mac version of Mirosoft Office, you will either need to purchase it from microsoft.com/mac, or go to the Mac App Store and buy Keynote which is Apple's equivalent of PowerPoint. However, while it is incredibly compatible with Office documents (Apple's productivity suite), you may be better off getting Microsoft Office if you want to ensure full compatibility with the Microsoft Office document formats. However, Keynote is considerably cheaper being in the Mac App Store.
