Power quality monitoring

Hi mathan,
Thanks for your help.....but there is a problem.
The amplitude of the output  wave is decreasing parabolically, instead it should decrease suddenly for a short time interval.
For better viewing,i am attaching another picture.

I want to remove the monitor from my 17" Macbook Pro 2008 to use as an external for my Macbook Pro 15" 2012. How can I convert lvds to Thunderbolt and power the monitor?

It's almost impossible.  The new iMacs have a Target Display Mode, but it's built to do that.  Without ripping your screen out, finding an acceptable power supply, frame, and whatever electronics to convert a Thunderbolt signal to the screen, the cost will be much larger than buying a cheaper HiDef monitor that runs with an HDMI to Thunderbolt cable to your MacBook 15.  In fact, you can sell your 17" MBP for a lot of money, unless it's broken or something, buying you a really sweet monitor.
By the way, I found your answer by searching this forum.  I would suggest using the search function here in the futuere.

  • Power quality disturbances

    hi friends,
I am not able to generate voltage unbalance and transients using labview8.0.If anyone can suggest me of a way ,it would be of a great help to me.

    hi mathan sir,
basically, what i have to do is to generate the power quality disturbances like sag, unbalance, harmonics etc using labview 8.0.Since there is very limited material available in the net and moreover i am new to labview,i am facing problems in generating those events.
I have attached a few of the disturbances which i think will give you a fair idea of what i am trying to generate.
    Thanks,

  • Power Usage Monitor for 20" Alu iMac

I'm looking for a free, reliable power use monitor that will tell me how many watts the computer is drawing at that moment, average power consumption, and any other bells and whistles that might be handy. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

I'm not positive but I do not think there is any software that can report the power usage of your iMac. To my knowledge you need something that plugs inline with your power supply. The newest APC UPS systems have power meters built into them. There have been a few topics where people have plugged in a power meter and reported their iMacs power consumption. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6160596&#6160596

  • Power to monitor

Recently bought a Mac Pro (PC convert) and love it.  However, I'm noticing some boot up errors.  I already spoke with Apple support and he had me reset my PRAM.  This morning, when I booted up my Mac, the startup chime sounded as normal, but the monitor did not start up.  The green power light was on, on my Mac Pro Tower but my monitor sat idle with no picture.  When I pushed the startup button on the tower, the computer sat idle for a few seconds and then the monitor came on.  Any suggestions?
    thank you

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
The 23" display has a DVI-I, USB and Firewire connectors.
Connection of the DVI and power is all that is necessary.
The USB and Firewire allows for the hub (USB and Firewire ports) in the display to be used for peripherals.
The cable does not disconnect from the monitor.
A keyboard, ideally, should be connected straight to the tower, not to the monitor.
With the keyboard attached to the tower, boot to Safe Mode (hold Shift at start up), reset of PRAM (Command Option+PR held at start until second startup chime) are typical first troubleshooting steps.
Boot to an OS install disc while holding C is also a good test to see if the video card is functioning.
A final hardware test, that of trying a different monitor, or, trying the monitor on another machine, is good to determine whether or not the monitor may be at fault.
Since the tower is not responding to keyboard commands, you might try resetting the PMU:

  • No power when monitor attached

I use a donated MAC G4. All was well until I disconnected my drive to move it. Now, with all connections correct, I can not turn it on. When I disconnect all but the power cord, the unit turns on. But as soon as a monitor is connected, the power goes off. With the monitor connected it will not turn on at all: no lights, no fans, nothing.
    Help please.

Is this a monitor with a VGA, ADC or DVI connector? Try a different monitor.

  • Intermittent loss of power to monitor

I purchased a Pavilion 23bw monitor in October 2013. It has been working great until a few weeks ago. Now the power completely and randomly cuts out, then returns after several minutes.
The video cable is fine, and I tried a different power outlet and experienced the same problem. When the power is out, there is still power coming from the cable, but the power light on the monitor is off and can't be turned back on.
Is there something else to check here?
    Thanks

  • Air quality monitoring for 3D printer

    Hi everyone.
I'm trying to find sensors to monitor air quality which work with Labview.  The 3D printer we are using has a risk of contaminating the air with particles, fumes etc.  If I could monitor the air particles, O2 and CO2 levels I think this would be a good start to making the print room safe (and real time monitored).  If anyone is interested you can have a look at what we're doing here

    Wes,
A quick search for "particle size monitor" found several devices which might be suitable. Particle Measuring Systems. Chemtrac. Dandong Dongfang Measurement & Control.  I have not used any of these but they will give you some ideas where to start. At least one of them communicates via RS-232 so intrefacing to LabVIEW should not be difficult.

  • Why no power to monitor?

Hi, I have a b/w G3, with the huge blue monitor. The monitor is not getting power. The button on front doesn't light up. The computer starts up with the keyboard power button, and it will also start if the keyboard is plugged in the the monitors usb....but the monitor does nothing. I've recently replaced the battery too. It was working just fine, until it was moved to a different desk. I gave this to my son's school, and now it's giving them trouble. Any suggestions?

Have they tried a standard power cable to an outlet, instead of the Apple cable that only plugs into the monitor power plug in the back of the G3's power supply?

  • Trying to us an old VGA power Mac monitor on my 2006 imac

I Thought I had a fix for my quickly dying imac.  It's guts are fine but the LCD monitor has developed a form of computer tourets.   I've just lost 1/3 of the screen.  Tested it out to determine that my graphics card is fine but the monitor is not,
I have a spare vga monitor that I was using on a first generation powermac.  I _thought_ i had found the proper connector (mini-dvi to VGA).  Tried to connect them today but there's a problem:  The pins don't match (the mini-dvi female end can't accept the male vga monitor plug as it's too big and has many more pins than it can accommodate).
HELP!!!!!  Is there another adapter required?  If so, what's the product number or name?

I'm sorry, but your Mac is way too old to update to Mountain Lion. Look here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5444
Mavericks was released yesterday and Mountain Lion is no longer available in the MAS. You need to be running OSX 10.6.8 in order to have the MAS on your Mac in the first place.
Maybe you should think about investing in a new Mac - or maybe a refurb, if you can't afford a new one, or settle for the OS that you are running now. As far as I know, you cannot buy Tiger which might be the next step up for your machine.

  • Is imac and cinema display the same quality monitor?

I'm looking to buy an imac but am really concerned about color quality. I currently have a cinema display and looking at this as a second computer. I've read some posts that suggest that the display technology in the imac is different than the quality of the display of the cinema displays. Yet from looking at the tech specs they appear pretty identical other than the glossy cover. Is this true?

The 24" iMac should have the same image quality as a Cinema Display. The 20" iMac uses an inferior display.
