Power save mode- black screen

k7t turbo2 board, tdk 40/12/48 burner, toshiba dvd rom 16x, compaq 30gig hd, 1 pci in use for 56k modem board, athlon xp 1700 tbred, antec 280 watt psu, and a diamond *savage 4 (agpx4) with sdram connected to AGP slot.
Upon installation into a new antec case, with everything hooked, I turned on the power and received a black screen through boot up.  The only message was: Power Save Mode and it came from my Sony 19'' trinitron E200. It recognized that there was power, but I got a black screen which leaves me in the dark as to what to do - I can't make fixes from a blank screen.
I did connect the 12v to the JPW1 slot, is that the problem?

I think my words came across wrong, sorry.
The power supply is 300w Antec
I read the post about AMD's first so I wrote my post a little different.
The 5v and the 3.3v combined max is 220 (that is more than the 180 standard) add the 12v to the mix and it's 280.  With the 3.3v I'm pushing 20a.
This seems like enough (according to the tech. I bought it from even though I'm sure he was bias).

  • 6120 - Blank screen in power saver mode

    Hi everybody!
I have recenty become a proud 6120 owner (my first symbian :-)), and I have 1 question:
how can I prevent in power saver mode, my screen to go complety blank??? I would like to see the status of my phone (time, missed calls, messages, etc.)!
    this is really annoying!
can anybody help me, how to change/prevent this?
    many thx in advance
    daniel

In menu/settings/themes/powersaver I have to tick one of three options (time/date, text or animation). Whichever is ticked I get at least the clock in powersaver mode. Events show under the date (or text if you choose text) so keypad locked has a symbol, missed calls have a number (of missed calls) and a symbol and so on.
However I have also noticed the screen is totally blank after a while and pressing a button starts the powersaver cycle again - briefly showing the dark main screen (including missed call message etc) before showing the clock with the symbols for a short while again. The time it takes to enter powersaving mode is in the display settings but I can't see a setting for how long it shows for.
Why the clock etc doesn't stay I do not know - I presume even this would eat the batteries more than strictly necessary. I can't see any option to keep it but it may there somewhere!!

  • Analog Clock in Power Saver mode?

When the E71 is in a power saver mode (black blank screen) with the D-pad button glowing in a slow periodic pattern, you can press the D-pad button and a large digital clock showing the time appears. How can I change that to an analog clock instead?

No, it is not possible to change that on the 3110c.

  • Deep Power saver mode on N95

Hi ! i had N73 before upgrading to N95 and it had Deep power saver mode where screen goes Black and presumably it conserves battery. i can not see any thing like that in N95. My n95 Battery goes off in 48 to 52 hours when i have changed it to GSM mode from Dual mode and do 1 hour of talking daily. Is it normal life of one recharge of N 95. If it is so than it really bad than N73 which used to be 72 to 80 Hours with one recharge.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Switching the phone off does save more power than putting the phone into offline mode.
Doing so will not increase the phone's life, though. If anything it will decrease it because 90% of failures in electronic devices occur when powering up/down components.

  • PowerMac G5 hangs after going into screen saver power save mode

I have a PowerMac G5 and it's been working fine, but as of late has been hanging. I had a couple of external disks on the machine ( Maxtor OneTouch II and a OneTouch III). I recently added two more OneTouch III and stripped the three OneTouch III's together in a RAID set. I'm wondering if that is causing the hangs, but I've also seen it hang without the RAID so I'm not convinced it's the RAID.
Anyway, I can't figure out what's causing it to hang, but it seems to hang at some point after the screen saver runs and then the screen goes into power saver mode. It's not hung right when it shuts down the monitor, but at some point after that.
When it gets in this mode, I can't remotely login using ssh and I can't seem to wake it up. What I end up having to do is to hold the power button down for several seconds until the machine powers off.
In an attempt to see what's going on, I set the OS X monitor power save mode to "never", but I don't think I left it that way long enough and I never saw it hang.
Does anyone have any debugging tips that would help me identify the culprit?

I've been having the same troubles lately. Seem
since the JAVA update. It hangs completely after the
screen is shut down. Every morning I have to reboot
    with the power button.
I am also joining the crowd with this issue. I have a 15" Powerbook G4 that has acted normally until recently. Not sure exactly when it started, but about the same time as the recent updates. Similar behavior to the previous forum posts.
When I manually put the laptop to sleep it freezes up before it sleeps and the multi-language reboot warning comes up. This also happens if it is set to auto-sleep after xx minutes.
When I try to wake it up, the screen is black and the power light shows it is on and it never unfreezes or I get the reboot message.
I have tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot this. I just re-installed the 10.4.8 update over the exisiting one (using an external boot drive made with SuperDuper) and it still happens... BUT when I put the laptop to sleep with the startup drive being external, it seemed to behave properly. I can't figure this out since the external clone was made only minutes earlier from the laptop... and it works. I have zapped PRAM, and done the battery removal / power button reset.
Below is the "report" I have been getting - and sending to Apple. They must be getting tired of the many I have sent.
    Any thoughts out there?
    Thanks.

  • New LG Monitor Screen Image Keeps Shifting a few pixels left and right / goes into power save mode

I just purchased a new LG Computer Monitor from Best Buy today and hooked it up to my PowerMac computer. Shortly after setting it up, the entire screen image started sporadically shifting left and right a few pixels. And then, at seemingly random times, it'll shut itself down, going into power save mode. I checked the cables to make sure they were secure and they seem to be. Could there be some sort of interference that's causing it? Or would it be the graphics card? My computer is only a couple years old. Please help!

Do you have another computer you can plug the monitor into to test?

  • How to disable screen power save mode

    Hello, everybody!
I have an issue with screen power save mode in Solaris 6 and I would be very grateful if someone could help me. Here's the problem description: (as root user) by using the GUI "Style Manager" I go to "Screen" and configure both "Screen Saver" and "Screen Lock" to "off" (I also set the "startup" to "resume current session" and clicked "Set Home Session"), however the screen power save mode is still on and after 30 minutes it is activated. How can I disable it? Is there any other command or configuration specifically to control the screen?
    Thanks in advance!
    Rafael Gracioli - [email protected]

It may be that the power management software is turning off the monitor. Run the command dtpower to view/configure the power management settings.

  • Screen won't switch off on Photosmart c309a. Power Saver mode not working?

    Hi everyone.
I'm having a small problem with my new Photosmart c309a all-in-one.  I set it all up yesterday and everything went fine, but the next morning I noticed the screen was on and had been on all night.  I would think it should power down to save energy.  I found the "power saver" mode in the preferences, but it was already on.
Does anyone know if it is supposed to go into standby mode or something?  I don't really like the idea of the screen being on all the time.
I set it up to use wireless connection from both a Mac and Windows Vista machine.
    Thanks!

    2 possibilities:
o Your iPod has a software-based error. Solution: On iTunes, click on the "Restore" button in your iPod's page.
o Your iPod has a physical problem. Solution: Depending on the actual problem, go to an apple store, and they will tell you if they can do anything to it. If they can't, I'm sorry, but your iPod's good for the bin.

    hi Murali993,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Just to verify, when the machine goes into Power Saver Mode (Standby / Sleep), can you check if the power button is blinking (this is an indication that the machine successfully entered Sleep State).
If the power button is just a solid light and it's not blinking then the machine is likely not entering Sleep. In this case, consider doing the following:
    1. Turn off Hybrid Sleep under Control Panel (Icon Views) > Power Options
        - Link to picture
    2. Set the computer's power setting to HIgh Performance and disable the HDD's power management settings (see this guide)
    3. If you have external devices plugged-in (eg. Flashdrives), unplug them then perform a clean boot (this procedure temporarily disables background services/apps that are running in the background that's possibly hanging up the system as these are normally terminated before the machine goes to sleep).
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • E5 Screensaver / Power saver mode

I recently got a e5 and was browsing the Ovi store and download a screen saver to see what it looked liked. After about 10sec I realized it was dumb and removed it. After a few seconds of inactivity my phone would go black and the screen saver would show. I looked all around and couldn't give a "screen saver" setting, just something called "power saver mode". Adjusting this I found out it was tied to when the screen saver would turn on. Still unable to remove this, I thought I might still be in the memory and turn the phone off and back on. Bingo, it worked. The screen saver didn't pop up. I now noticed that when the screen goes black, It now shows me the date and time for a few seconds, in random spots. Is there settings for this somewhere, static location, redisplay when you press a key, turn off, etc. ?

Some machines have the option to turn energy save mode off and others don't.
What model of printer do you have?
I do work for HP Printer Support, however my comments/advice are mine alone.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s571 0f PC, " DSUB Power Save Mode"

I have an HP Pavilion Slimline s571 0f PC with a LG FLATRON W2253VP monitor. On start up it appears to be starting OK with the LG logo in the center of the monitor but after a few seconds it displays a small window with the message " DSUB Power Save Mode" and then the screen goes black. Well, a few things could cause such a problem and it could be a true pain in the butt to narrow down.

  • Z77a-g43 and power save mode

    All parts are new.
ASUS gf gtx 560 ti dcII top, corsair 8 gb memory, intel core i5-3570K, 3,4GHZ soc 1155, corsair 600w, msi Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 1155 ATX
Everything was running just fine for one hour. Loaded windows 7 /64 and some servicepack. Then suddenly I got the "power save mode". I´ve tried a different graphic-card with the same result. Took out the bios battery but that didnt hlp. Then tried another corsair 600w but no... The comp. starts, but with a black screen. No usb is working. Tried the blue vga on the motherboard but still a black screen. No beep.
So, what to do? Buy a nother mb?

    Here are some other ideas:
1.) repeat the process with a single stick of ram try each stick / try different dimms to see 1 stick is fault or a dimm is faulty.
2.) Remove and re-seat the cpu, while the cpu is out, check the pins for damage.
3.) Remove the mobo from the case and check for foreign objects shorting it out, while it is out, build the computer on a non-conductive surface with 1 stick of ram, cpu, cooler and psu and test.
Pay careful attention to extra stand offs under the motherboard.

  • Monitor enters power save mode on start up

PC keeps crashing in game, after it crashes it shows the message DVI power save mode on my monitor. Sometimes it even crashes on boot.
It all started when i tried to update my bios with live update(yes I know wrong choice, after I did this is read all the wrong things about live update on google)
So i flashed my bios with an usb drive to 1.8, but it's still crashing
    Setup:
    MOBO: Msi Z87-g45
    CPU: Intel I7-4770K
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Dual SC w/ ACX Cooler
memory: Corsair Vengeance LP CML8GX3M2A1600C9 4x4gb
    PSU: corsair HX750
So I tried everything I could read about this problem on google, I even rma'ed my gpu and it still crashes.
Anyone that can help me? or is the board bricked and should I rma it?

Nope,  didn't do an oc,  sometimes after restarting several times i can run something. Like a game but after some time it freezes and gives a gray screen with 'dvi power saving mode'  after that nothing works,  no caps/numlock.
I was thinking it was the gpu,  so i rma'ed it but when i had it back,  it gave the same thing.
I thing it's the board,  pci slots or something
Edit: it doesn't freeze with integrated gpu so it must be something with the slots?  Evga tested my gpu in another system.

  • Dell 2407 Monitor entering power save mode immediately!!! :(

I have a Dell 24" 2407 Monitor hooked up to my 24" iMac (white 2.16GHz core 2 duo). Problem free for the past couple of years, until recently, my monitor keeps going into power save (when the iMac screen is active.
It's connected via DVI, and the funny thing is, is that the iMac still detects the monitor, but it's in power save mode.
I plugged the monitor into the MacBook Pro and it worked fine. So I'm guessing it's either the Mini DVI to DVI converter is stuffed OR something is wrong with my iMac. I'll try another dvi cable, otherwise will have to go to shudder VGA until I get a new Mini DVI to DVI converter. Unless anyone else has an idea as to what's going on?

How about if you open System Preferences Displays pane Display tab... Click on +Gather Windows+ on the display that is working. Then try adjusting things like resolution and +color depth+ on the non-working display to see if that has any effect.
Have you tried disconnecting the power cord on the display for a few minutes and reconnecting it? Does the display have an on-screen menu, and a command to reset the settings on the display to default?
A few more tests, if it still does not work.
Create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. In the new account, does the display work or not work properly? If it works in the new account, that would indicate some problem in your regular user account.
Also try starting up from your Mac OS X installation disc. Does the display work when you are starting up from a different system? If so, that would indicate some problem in your current installed system.
