Power settings on XP Policy Preferences not working

I have been trying to change the power settings on XP laptops but have not had any success so far. Has anyone got this working? I have tried creating, updating and replacing the power scheme but the power options I have specified do not get applied to the laptops. I have installed client side extensions on our XP SP 3 laptops and have managed to create a folder on all laptops using the preferences settings. However when it comes to the power options it does nothing and it does not even report any errors in the application logs that might help me diagnose what the problem could be. I have ensured all the settings in the preference settings are enabled (pressing F5 enables all the settings and puts a green underline under each setting).
Can anyone help with this? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,
Did you configure the Power Options settings under User Configuration or Computer Configuration? If it’s Computer Configuration, please try to restart the client and test, also try to configure under User Configuration and vice versa.
Test on more than one clients and update device drivers to make sure it’s not caused by driver.
If the issue persists, let’s try the steps below for troubleshooting. On DC, create or edit a GPO for XP clients.
1.    Create or edit a GPO for client machine and enable the following settings. Navigate to
[Computer Configuration/ Policies / Administrative Templates / System / Group Policy]
If you configured Drive Map settings in user GPP, double-click [Drive Maps Policy Processing] and set the properties to enable:
-"Allow processing across a slow network connection"
-"process even if the Group Policy objects have not changed"
Change Background priority to Normal.
2.    Disable Fast Logon.
Navigate to:  [Computer Configuration/ Policies / Administrative Templates / System /Logon]
Enable "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon".
3.    Open the GPO, navigate to:
[Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\Logging and Tracing]
a.    Double-click Power options Processing Properties, click Enable, change Tracing to On. Click OK.
b.    Test on clients, find "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GroupPolicy\Preference\Trace\user.log" and send to [email protected] for research.
Thanks.

    Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

    Security and privacy system preference not working after Lion install.  Not sure if it happen with Lion installer or after updating. What to do?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” (without the quotes) and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
    Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
    This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
    Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Fault policy does not work when throwing remoteFault in bpel

    Hi
    I have a BPEL-proces in which I throw a remoteFault.
    In the fault-policy there is a condition for this fault
    <faultName xmlns:bpelx="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension"
    name="bpelx:remoteFault">
    <condition>
    <action ref="ora-java"/>
    </condition>
    </faultName>
    But the fault-policy does not work if I throw this remoteFault in de bpel. But when I invoke another service (which is shutdown), then I get a remoteFault and for this remoteFault the fault-policy works well.
    Any idea why the fault-policy does not work when I throw the remoteFault?
    Regards

    BPEL fault works only on invocation failures.
    Fault management will work based on the remote fault from the remote service, you cannot throw remote fault from bpel and capture that in fault management and process.
    The following are the actions that we can take on faults.
    1. Human Intervention
    2. Rethrow [rethrowFault]
    3. Termination [abort]
    4. Replay Fault [replayScope]
    5. Custom Java Action [javaAction]
    6. Retry [retry]
    Hope this helps !!!

  • My power button on my iphone is not working. What can i do about that?

    my power button on my iphone is not working. What can i do about that?

    Meaning that you cannot restart or reset the phone?  If you haven't tried already, try both options.
    Otherwise, you can do a backup & restore, or even a restore as new (only after a successful backup).
    If the issue persists, then look at a replacement. Either it will be a hardware defect (free if within warranty), or physical damage ($49 with AppleCare Plus, $149 without it.)

  • Bridge and Camera RAW preferences not working

    I'm setting up a new Macbook Pro, late 2013 15", 10.9.2
    CS6 Production Premium, Also have Indesign CS6, LR5, Acrobat Pro 11. Camera RAW is version 8.4. Everything is up to date.
    Bridge and Camera RAW preferences are not working correctly. Bridge prefs related to Bridge display, e.g. color theme, text beneath thumbnails, favorite locations, etc.. all work fine. Bridge prefs open and close fine with no errors. "Double Click Edits Camera RAW Settings in Bridge" does not take. Photoshop launches to open Camera RAW regardless of whether this is checked or not. Camera RAW preferences will not open. Selecting "Camera RAW Preferences" from Bridge does nothing. Camera RAW seems to work fine hosted by Photoshop.
    I tried a new user with the same results.

  • Lightroom 5.4, syncing photo settings edited in CS6 does not work. Maverick OS 10.9, Raw 8.3.0141

    I recently updated Lightroom to 5.4 and noticed that when the file comes back from CS6, the edit/sycn settings does not work. Selecting the gray area of the source file, and selecting another, clicking on the sync produces nothing. When I select a source image and another that has not visited CS 6 the sync works fine. I have used this simple technique for years with previous versions and never had a problem. Something has changed with the update and/or compatibility with the file coming back into Lighroom. Any thoughts about this would be appreciated.

    ssprengel, thanks for following up. I work with DNG files in Lightroom that have been converted from Raw CR2 files. They are exported from Lightroom to Photoshop as Tiff files and any files that i edited and traveled round trip could not be used to sync other files in Lightroom. Even simple edits like saturation or exposure have disabled the file from being able to sync the settings to other files. I do most of the syncing of develop settings in Lightroom, but occasionallly I will adjust basic settings in Photoshop for one reason or another and after updating to 5.4 I noticed that sync worked fine within Lightroom only. I have tried a few changes to preferences with regard to how develop settings are registered with the file and that hasn't made any difference. Any ideas?

  • Mountain Lion feature preferences not working

    Ever since Mountain Lion was released some of the new features preference panes wont open for me. Every time I try to open one, my Settings app just freezes and I have to force quit it. Things that wont open: Security & Privacy and adding Twitter and Facebook accounts. My Messages app doesnt even work, I can send and recieve but nothing shows up in the app. I've been looking online and trying many different things (removing preferneces, adding preferences from another account where they work) and I have a test account where everything works. Any other things I could try?
    EDIT: I forgot to add that my AppStore freezes everytime I open it too. I can view the Updates Tab but if I click anything else it freezes.

    Hi,
    IF you have another computer you can transfer things like an whole Users account  to your Mac or in some cases you can transfer the whole thing, Applications, And Users normally.
    There can be issues with this as some Applications may not work in a newer OS
    Some Preferences (what is kept in the .plists in the User's Library/Preferences) may not work properly with newer version of the apps they go with.
    For example iChat in Lion has been replaced by Messages and iChat 6 should  not be installed /Transfered/Migrated to Mountain Lion
    Repair Permissions is done with the Disk Utility in the Applications/Utilities folder.
    I am not sure the Disk Utility is accessible on a Restore Boot (CMD+ R)
    This could be really simple such as the Contacts app > My Card (Head And Shoulders icon) not being set to your details and App like Messages that make use of the info can't read it.
    On the other hand it could be a lot deeper than than and you may need to Restore the whole OS (CMD + R on Start up)

  • "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" option not working with all documents

    Said option (found under Edit/Preferences, category Documents), which works like an automatic bookmark in that it takes you back to the same place you were at when you last closed a document, is very useful, but apparently doesn't work with *all* documents.
    - Does anyone know what determines whether a given document works with this option or not?
    - Is this by design or a bug? A matter of PDF format version?
    - Is there a way to work around the problem?
    I've compared two documents, only one of which works with the option, to determine what the relevant difference may be, and found two suspects (under File/Properties): the PDF version (1.5 in the document that works, 1.4 in the one that doesn't), and 'Fast Web View' ('yes' in the document that works, 'no' in the one that doesn't).
    Thanks,
    Michael

    This seems to be a problem with some PDF files.
    Suggested workaround: If the PDF you have allows "Save As", then try save-as to a new file. The "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" option should then work as expected (in the new file).

    Hi Marco,
    Based on your description, we can enable diagnostic logging of Group Policy Software Installation processing to troubleshoot the issue.

  • VPD context_sentisitive policy does not works as expected

    Hi,
    I'm trying to implement CONTEXT_SENSITIVE RLS policies:
    http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/ARPLS/d_rls.htm#ARPLS67721
    Server re-evaluates the policy function at statement execution time if it detects context changes since the last use of the cursor. For session pooling where multiple clients share a database session, the middle tier must reset context during client switches. Note that the server does not cache the value returned by the function for this policy type; it always executes the policy function on statement parsing. Applies to only one object.
    What I have discovered so far:
    1. policy function executed each time when query executed from SQL*Plus. Independently of context changes.
    2. policy function executed only once when query executed from PL/SQL.
    3.  When we have a PL/SQL procedure like this:
    begin
    <query>
    <change context>
    <query>
    end;
    Additionally, query (cursor) is not present in PL/SQL cursor cache, then
    policy functions executed only once when first query executed.
    So wrong results are possible when application context changed in a way that policy function returned predicate also changed.
    4. JDBC: policy function executed each time when query is executed. Policy function executed only once when I enabled statement caching:
    OracleDataSource ods =  new OracleDataSource();
    // skip
    ods.setConnectionCachingEnabled( true );
    ods.setImplicitCachingEnabled( true );
    Properties cacheProps = new Properties();
    cacheProps.put( "InitialLimit", "1" );
    cacheProps.put( "MinLimit", "1" );
    cacheProps.put( "MaxLimit", "5" );
    cacheProps.put( "MaxStatementsLimit", "50" );
    ods.setConnectionCacheProperties( cacheProps );
    5. Queries with RLS policies are not cached in the session cursor cache. For example, if we executed same query multiple times in SQL*Plus - then this query will be not cached.
    2 and 3 (PLSQL) relates to PL/SQL cursor cache.
    As a result, when we disable PL/SQL cursor cache (setting session_cached_cursors=0), then policy function executed each time in PL/SQL.
    What I have observed, it is not agreed with documentation on context_sensitive policies (I provided a link above):
    Server re-evaluates the policy function at statement execution time if it detects context changes since the last use of the cursor.
    Signature of DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY procedure was changed in 12c with additional arguments: NAMESPACE, ATTRIBUTE.
    I tried to use them with no luck, results are the same.
    In my opinion statements below are contradict to each other:
    1. Server re-evaluates the policy function at statement execution time if it detects context changes since the last use of the cursor.
    2. it always executes the policy function on statement parsing.
    First, documentation says that the policy function evaluates at statement execution time.
    Second, documentation says that the policy function executes on statement parsing.
    I have used Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 for testing.
    I provided a script that I have used in my tests:
    rls_policy.txt - creates test schema and policy
    rls_sqlplus.txt - runs simple select against query with RLS policy
    rls_plsql.txt - more complex example, runs some anonymous blocks with queries against table with RLS policy.
    In my opinion, context_sensitive policies does not works as described in the documentation.
    Is it a bug or I'm missing something?
    Please advice.
    Best regards,
    Mikhail.

    Thanks Scott. May i know why i should never use user policies for denying access?
    From my readings on some articles, there is no way to deny users permission in sharepoint after granting domain users with read access other than the web application user policy in our case (with certain reason, we need this group to be granted with
    read access but we would like to restrict small amount of users from seeing the page)
