Power socket Icon

Hi
I have a 20 gb clickwheel ipod with firewire charger/computer cable. I left the charger behind on holiday and so I had to buy a USB cable as this was the only choice offered. I downloaded the update but the ipod display now shows a wall socket and is asking that I connect to this alternative power supply to complete the upgrade. I don't have it so is there anything I can do. I have tried resetting (select and menu for approx 6 secs) but the damm socket comes up again. I'd like to restore but I understand it needs to be connected and neither itunes or my computer acknowledges the ipod when connected. Am I screwed.

Your iPod needs to be connect to an AC adapter to complete the update.
You can stop by an Apple store or any other that sells iPods and connect to an adapter there. Some people have had success using car chargers as well.
Other than that, you don't have any other options that I know of.

  • Do I need a transformer to plug my iMac into an Italian power socket?

I've just moved from Seattle, Washington to Milan, Italy.  The iMac specifications say it can handle 110 to 250 volts and 50 to 60 hertz power.  Do I simply buy a US-to-Italian power-socket adapter and plug it in or do I need a special transformer?

No transformer required - just the adapter!

    Hi syvliebaby88888888,
If you are having issues with recharging your iPhone's battery, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    In particular, this section -
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Lost Power Off icon

    Hello,
I was re-arranging my icon and noticed that I somehow lost my Power Off icon.  Anyone know how I can get it back?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you did a wipe on your device and then installed OS 2 I believe this icon is no longer provided. RIM has removed some of the icons that were present in the original OS version.
If you tap on the battery icon on the home screen you will get options to Restart, Stand By, or Turn Off. You can also get the same by holding down the power button.
If you deleted it by accident I don't know if any way to get it back.

  • Power socket on logic board

I've just put a new optical drive in a 12" 1ghz Powerbook and in the process have had a bit of a mishap...the power socket came undone from the logic board. This is the bit that connects the cable that runs from the power button to the logic board. The connector didn't come out of the socket, the whole socket came off. Seems like a large problem...any ideas what the best coarse of action is? Hopefully don't have to replace the entire logic board. Good repair places in the UK would also be welcome.
    any help will be appreciated.

    hi david,
I just found out today that it's been repaired. Basically, there was no way I was going to try and fix it, so I brought it in to one shop that said "nope, gotta replace the logic board," but i didn't trust them, and so i sent it off to another repair place, who fixed it today--tested, all back in action.
BIG sigh of relief. £80 instead of around £400.
So basically, it depends on how bad the board was damaged when the connector came off. I happened to get lucky (after persevering with a second opinion!)
If you find a GOOD repair house, not a lazy one that just goes for the easy and expensive fix, then you may be in luck. I'm in the UK, and I can HIGHLY recommend VIS Mac Parts as a repair house.
    http://www.applemacparts.com/
In fact, nearly everyone I spoke to along the way said it would require a new logicboard, so: don't listen to them, and find someone who has the knowhow (and honesty) to repair it.
hope this helps & best of luck!!!

  • KM4M-L Cpu power socket

First time i have used this board.
The PC I am upgrading has no output to the monitor but the CPU fan powers up.
Does it need the the CPU power socket on the motherboard to be powered for the computer to boot.
The current cases powersupply doesnt have the 4pined connector, as its the 1st time ive used this board i am unsure if this is the cause of my problem
    cheers

Your reply didnt really answer my question, of does the CPU power supply connector need to be powered?
    the basic specs are
    KM4M-L motherboard
    AMD 1800 Duron
    using onbaord graphics and sound
    256MB kingstone 266DDR ram
    20GB Seagate HD
    52x CD Drive
300w max power supply.  im not infront of it to find the specs of the individual voltage lines.

  • Cord from monitor power socket??

I wanted to power my monitor from the power socket on the AGP's back, but had trouble figuring out exactly what kind of cord I needed. I Googled repeatedly, but was using the wrong terms--"power cord"--when what I really need is an IEC EXTENSION cable/ cord.
    Here's one such cord--

Answered this myself, but wasted too much time finding the answer.

  • Power Socket - Install Query

Hiya, my master socket is in my hallway, of which there is no power socket within the vacinity.
My desktop computer is upstairs in a spare room, and in that room, I've wired an extension lead myself, and use that for ADSL broadband.
I understand that if I sign up to BT Infinity, that I need a power socket nearby, so that the router can be plugged in.
So really, what I'm asking is, will the Engineer move the master socket? Or will the Engineer be able to run the CAT5 cable from the master socket downstairs up the stairs and into my computer room?
I tried to find out prior to ordering by using "Chat" on BT's website, however, the advice given wasn't very helpful, as I was told that there may be a charge, what for, the advisor didn't know, and couldn't confirm anything.
So, I'd appreciate any help / advice on this issue, as I want to know where I stand before placing an order.
    Cheers in advance

Actually you need 2 power sockets. One for the Active NTE and one for the Home Hub3.
These 2 devices are joined together using standadrd cat5 cabling which the BTOR enginner wil supply one up to 30M
As for moving the extension the answer is probably. Just remember to offer them tea & biscuts when they call.
Oh they're also partial to bacon sandwiches.
Basically all engineers are like pets, if you feed & water them then it keeps them happy and they'll do tricks for you ;o)
DISCLAIMER: although I work in the industry I do not work for BT and any opinions given are purely my own.

  • Power Socket Damaged -- Need Access to Replace

I want to repair the power socket on my iBook DualUSB model, and need access to it in order to make the repair.
I am trying to remove the bezel which surrounds the keyboard, and have removed all the screws, ribbon cable, and undone the snap tabs that I could locate.
The bezel remains attached in only one location, just below (towards the keyboard) and to the left of the magnet which (I think) senses the presence of the keyboard. I can not locate any remaining screw (top side, nor under the foil on the bottom side of the chassis)fastening the bezel at this point; maybe there is a tab holding the bezel in place, but I can't seem to slide the bezel out from under such a tab (if indeed it is a tab that's holding the bezel down).
    Any ideas?
I have a photo of the situation, but don't know how or if I can post it to the Apple forums.

Hi, Peter. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Assuming yours is the 12-inch model, you can find the instructions on replacing the DC-in board here:

    Good luck.

  • Is there away around the Power adaptor icon for my ipod?

I did a factory reset on my iPod today b.c i have been having trouble syncing up the ipod using iTunes. I used the latest firmware updater from Apple btw.
So when the factory reset was complete the app told me to plug the iPod into it's power supply, but I don't have one!
Now the ipod has the Power adaptor Icon on it because it's waiting to be pluged in, is there a way around this? I'm using an Apple USB cable if that makes any difference.
    Thanks, Tim

Connect the iPod to your computer with a FireWire cable if your computer has a 6-pin FireWire port, or use a car adaptor, or try the option on this page.

  • No power DVD icon in my laptop (Lenovo G410)

    Dear,
During the collection of my laptop after technical service recently,  I told the staff-in-charge that the desktop is still short of Power DVD icon.  There was such an icon before the service. He told me to download from the following link:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Lenovo-PowerDVD-10/td-p/1089661
     PowerDVD 10 BD,
When I downloaded & extracted the file, it showed "This software can only be installed on a Lenovo system". Installation was unsuccessful. I think that could be due to a different model and series.
Mine is Lenovo G410 (model 20237).  Where could I download the power DVD that is suitable for my laptop & display it on my desktop?  Please provide a suitable link.
    Thank you for your assistance.

I downloaded the free VLC player which is able to play the DVD in my laptop.  Earlier on, when I searched for Cyberlink Power DVD from Windows Store, a price $14.99 (free trial available) was displayed in the website.  I think it is only free during the trial period.

  • Power Map icon greyed out

I am running Excel 2013 Professional Plus 32 bit on windows 7.
I have installed the add-in for Power Map and it is enabled from the com-add in. My graphics driver is version 10.
I can see and use the Power View icon but Power Map is greyed out.
I checked the registry edit in the Word document intsall instructions but the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\ExcelPlugInShell.Connect
ExcelPlugInShell.Connect is not listed in the registry.
I uninstalled the add-in and did an office repair and then re-installed the add-in.
Is there anything else I can do to enable the Power Map add-in?

    Is this still an issue?

  • REQ: Powerbook G4 Mercury Power socket Schematic needed or similar!

    Hi,
My Power socket became damaged due to the end pin breaking off from the power plug into the socket. I successfully removed the broke off pin and soldered a standard 2.5" stereo plug onto the Power supply but the socket was never the same as the internal sprung pins became bent and damaged.
I have desoldered the power socket and took it apart successfully but i can see it will never be able to be fixed properly, so i need to replace it or substitute it for another type of socket.
One thing, i cant work out what pin on the power lead went to what connector within the socket as the socket is so damaged and wont buzz through properly with a meter so im stuck as to what positive or negative power went to where on the logic board.
Looking from the back of the socket i have the outer shell (the side lights i think?) then 3 pins from left to right. 1 i know isnt used? and the others +24V and negative.
    Please Help!
    Cheers in advance!

Hi, fznuk, and welcome to Apple Dscussions. Apple does not publish schematics, because even Apple's own service technicians have no use for them: component-level repairs are not cost-effectve and are never done. Schematics just aren't available, period.
