Power supply 90W A1097 broke

Where could I buy a 90W, model A1097 power supply for my 23 inch Cinema display?  Sounds like this is no longer available from Apple.  Also, I could not find any documentation by Apple on a 3rd party replacement.
Also, helpful would be advice as to where I could find a 220 V AC input and 24.5V, 3.7A output power supply.
And lastly, has anyone tried a 24V power supply (much more common compared to 24.5V)
I bought the display for $800 in July of 2008.
Thanks much for your help
Olaf

Malcolm
Thanks but $200 is unfortenuately a bit too expensive.
Anybody know where I could find a 220 V AC input and 24.5V, 3.7A output power supply?  And has anyone tried a 24V power supply (much more common compared to 24.5V)?
Thanks again
Olaf

  • Energy used by 90W power supply with no load

I use a ThinkPad T60p in a corporate environment. I have it connected to mains power via an energy meter. The meter tells me that the power supply (90W 20V) is consumes 7 watts when it is not even connected to the ThinkPad. I have also tested colleague's power supplies (the same model). When they are not connected to a ThinkPad they consume 0 watts. Can anyone explain what could be causing this? Is my power supply working as designed?
p.s. You might think that 7 watts is no big deal, but I am keen to minimise the energy that I waste.

The power supply will always consume some energy when plugged in as there is internal circuitry which is always running, however 7 Watts is definitley an excessive "no load" reading and indicates that the power supply is faulty.
If your energy meter has a reading granularity of whole Watts only, then the supply should indicate 0 Watt energy consumption when it is not plugged into a ThinkPad, though in fact it will be drawing some faction of a Watt for the internal circuitry.

  • Macbook power supply broke after 90 days

my power supply broke, as confirmed by best buy and the apple support rep on-site. I need to order an exchange because it is still under warranty, but cannot figure out how to? We bought extended warranty but apparently it is not yet needed, just the regular hardware warranty since laptop is so new. How do I order a new power brick?

thanks for response. I have 7 series too. I went to bestbuy and they said to order a new power adapter from Apple care online, but I cannot seem to find out where to do that. There is no authorized Apply shop nearby. So ideally I would order a new power suplly under warranty and they will ship it.

  • Will a 65w power supply work with the HP Envy 15t (which comes with a 90w)?

I have multiple extra 65w power supplies from previous machines.  The pin that plugs in to the machine is different, but there are converters to get the right size pin.  If I get that right pin, is it safe to use a 65w power supply with the HP Envy 15t, which came with a 90w supply?
One supply (65w) says the output is 19.5v, 3.34a.  Found another extra (90w) says the output is 19.5v, 4.62a.
The one supplied with the Envy says (90w) 19.5v, 4.62a.  I'm assuming with a pin converter, I can use the second one above?

    Hi,
For the 65W, It will work, BUT check the tip/connector. The only problems: battery charging could take longer time and for high graphics task it may display an error message. For the 90W, again pin/connector is the main concern.
    Regards.

  • 90W Power Supply recognized as 65W Supply.

I got a new 90W Power Supply for my SL510. But from the PowerManager, as well while in the booting phase, it is recognized as a 65W Supply. ( I get while booting the message to use the shipped supply instead of this weaker one, in the PowerManager i get : "65W AC Adapter is attached")
Is there a way to tell my system that the supply is a 90W unit ? Is this new supply maybe already broken ? How does my computer tell which adapter is attached ?
I already updated to the latest Bios, but it did not do much.

If you bought the adapter directly from Lenovo I would recommend you to contact your after sales department for further troubleshooting. It is possible they may need to send you a new one.
You should be able to find the after sales contact information from Lenovo's German shopping site under contact information. Here is the link to the the US site: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/landing_pages/contact/

  • Help with using itunes with 4s library after i upgraded to iPhone 5 and computer power supply went

long story hopefully an easy fix....
on wensday my power supply went and had to ship computer across country to Puget Computer Systems as we weren't sure if it was power supply or mobo...luckily it was power supply.
i daily backed up iphone 4s with itunes (10.7) as i do all music manually, playlists, etc. have like 3,000 plus songs, videos, audiobooks, mail aaccts and about 48 apps.
so next day (sept 19th) apple comes out with iOS 6 which i update my 4s to with no problem. I wanted a day to play with it to learn my way around.
next day i wait in line for 8 hours overnite and was #2 in line at apple store for my ATT 32gb white iPhone 5. while at apple store I get my icloud backup which gets all paid music, apps, etc since itunes version 10.3 (i always did both backups so as not to lose my contacts more than anything.
I have other paid stuff that is in library on computer along with audiobooks and about 2700 more songs.
my icloud backup put the playlists on iPhone but not most of the music for them as lots were ripped from my cd's.as i double them up making a copy on iPhone and a copy on itunes.
So I have been using iPhone 5 with no problems just don't have all of itunes library on it. My computer is coming back this week how do I plug in iPhone 5 via USB (which will be seen as new phone even though it has same name) and use my existing iTunes 10.7 library which the backups in iTunes still has iOS 5.1.1 on it?
There must be an easy way of doing it as i don't want to wipe off iphone 5 again as i don't see any purpose my library is all organized perfectly. I know my way around windows 7 pro 64 bit pretty well just don't know what itunes is going to say once it sees "joe's iPhone" again and installs the usb drivers and icon for it. what will it ask in regards to library and how do i use it with previous iOS on it?
Thank you very much for the help as I am going to need it.
yes i broke the cardinal rule of cross posting and apoligize  for it just amazed i couldn't find answer via google nor any apple store genius knew it either.

    Hi All,
    Any help?
No one has any answers here amoungst all this apple knowledge?
    Thank you

  • IMac G5, nuke and pave, new power supply, want to start fresh!

Hi there. My iMac G5 is old and was put away for years after the power supply broke. Well, my 6 year old decided to fix it. Sent the power supply off for repair. $59 later, we're back on... but we are ONLY back on. Nothing is booting up. Just spinning and flashing a ???. I'm on Lion with all my other computers. How can I just nuke the old G5's OS and start fresh? I have old Snow Leopard Disks. Can I start from that? Any thoughts?

The latest OS you can use on a G5 is 10.5.8, Snow Leopard is only for intel machines.  Use a retail copy of Leopard and you should be all set, or use the install discs that came with the machine.  You can call Apple, give them your serial number and they will send you new install discs.

  • Power Supply broken

    Hi folks.
My macbook is now about 1.5 years old.
Beside the fact, that the screen slowly starts to crack at the hinges, my Power Supply Unit is now broke.
It just doesn't charge the battery anymore. Can't be the battery itself and with another Power Supply it works.
I'm VERY, VERY disappointed right now.
Which possibilities do I have right now?
Will Apple give me a new one for free?
    What to do?
I need the macbook for university and I don't have the money to buy a new one.
    Best Regards

    You are entirely welcome.

  • Need a piece for my power supply cable

So my mag safe power supply for my Macbook Pro has the two little "hooks" that pop out and allow you to wrap the cable around them for travel. One of the hooks broke and during the process of trying to get it fixed through Apple, by replacing the hook, I was advised you have to replace the whole thing.
I was wondering if anyone knew any place to get these little guys or had an extra one lying around that they would be willing to sell via a Paypal payment.
    Thanks!

Alternative suggestion I gave to one of my clients: buy another power adapter, then use the "broken" one permanently at your desk. So rather than rushing out of the house, forgetting to pack your charger, instead leave one of the chargers in your bag. When you get home, you plug in to the "permanent" desk charger. The one on the desk would never be coiled up, or coiled up in a different way with wire ties or something. And if the charger is under your desk, well, out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
I've done this for years, ever since that first time I forgot my charger and blew my school assignment because no one on campus had a compatible charger I could borrow. While it is an additional expense, it's also a comfort that when I break the charger, I have an immediate spare, or have a second charger for troubleshooting.

  • Can't seem to find a power supply on the apple site

    Hi there,
Could someone direct to where I can buy a power supply for a 23" Aluminum Cinema Display? Mine unfortunately has passed away and I can't find that part on the apple site. Have a meeting at the Genius bar today but a friendly salesperson told me they don't have them in stock. He also didn't know the warranty so I figured maybe the "Genius" would know. The polite and wonderful apple telephone service woman couldn't really help either.
Regardless, I'd like to know what they cost just in case I have to end up buying one. My dead one is 15 months old.
    Thanks!

Thanks for your help. I find it very odd that you can't just order one. Regardless, the apple store is ordering one and should have it in a week or two. Fortunately I use two monitors so getting by should be simple. Also strange that they want the broken one back even though it's out of warranty and I'm paying (only $65) for a new one.
Considering what I now know about how difficult it is to get a power supply I'll probably never go to a 30" display because if the adapter broke on that, I could be out of business for days.
Search words to help others in my situation: Power Supply, Power Adapter, Dead Power Supply.
    Best,

  • Alternate to Apple Brand Power Supply?

So I've run through two power supplies (both broken where it connects with the computer) and I'd really rather not buy another apple brand supply. I understand the strange outside ring is only for the color on the charger so it's probably and any adapter of the same wattage with the same 1/8" plug should work, right?

I broke the original power supply cord also after a few drops on my floor. I took my soldering gun to it before I put some money down on a non-apple power adapter. They exist and are found on computer battery websites. I bought mine from a company in France.
It is a 'DLH energy'. The nice feature about the non-apple power adapter is that the 'head' (the part that connects to the computer) is easily taken off and switched with a replacement if the delicate metal band should take a beating.

  • Dock VB043AA (compatible with Elitebook 8470p) - which power supply ?

    Hello,
There are 2 docks compatible with the 8470p
    a 90w dock (VB041AA)
    a 230w dock (VB043AA)
I don't see real differences when checking the specs:
    http://portal.tugraz.at/portal/page/portal/Files/zid/files/datenblatt/computing/HP-Docking.pdf
Is it possible to use the 90w power supply using the "230w" dock ?
Why is there a power difference between the 2 docks ?
    Thanks a lot

  • 90 watt vs 65 watt power supply

I have a T61p.  It came with a 90 watt power supply.  I ordered an extra power supply when I ordered the system and was sent a 65 watt supply.
Is it OK to use the 65 watt on my laptop?
Does it simply re-charge the battery slower?
    Noel
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

All systems with a dedicated graphics card require a 90W power supply for proper function. A 65W PS will simply not offer enough power for a system with dedicated graphics card to function at full potential - note this refers to a situation when the computer is in use - which may eventually cause issues with the computer. While shutdown, the lower watt rated PS will charge your system, albeit more slowly indeed.
    Hope that helps

  • Power-supply warranty?

I don't know if it is the right place to ask, but if a cable broke inside of my power-supply ( inside the smaller white cable) is it a case of warranty?
If it makes anny difference I have AppleCare.

Everything that came in your box is covered by Apple's one year hardware warranty...3 years if you purchased AppleCare. Call AppleCare or go to an Apple store to see if your problem falls under warrtanty.
