Power supply for MSI FM2-A75IA-E53

Hi there.
Anyone know the required PSU for FM2-A75IA-E53 ??
Espen

Hello folks, first post here. (From Norway, pardon my inglese)
I'm a system bulider, and have exactly 12 problems in my hands. That means, 12 x your problems, yes, 12 bulids odered from one client.
But, I've done some deep research in the meantime this problem popped out in several forums, all over the world.
The Streacom NanoPSU have till now, been released with two different AC-DC adapters (looks exactly like each other, except another sticker in the bottom), but both releases contained the same DC-DC module.
Thankfully, I still had one from the first version still available, and I tried this (also 12V/12.5A) and it works like a charm.
But, with the new AC-DC adapter, I had the same result like you guys. So, in panic, I scarpped the NanoPSU AC-DC adapters, and I ordered 12 new AC-DC adapters (only, no DC-DC part) on EBAY, that is the original AC-DC adapter for the PicoPSU since my client is in a hurry. Guess what - SAME result, doesen't work...  To assure I wasn't hungover or tired the day I tried the first version of the NanoPSU AC-DC adapter, and fortunately, I hadn't been dreaming, it worked perfectly.
SO - Folks.. What should I do now. I don't want to order YET another batch of AC-DC adapters again, everything costs money. Is there ANY chance MSI reads forums? No response on two mails yet (been near two weeks). The rumor about a BIOS fix could be the sollution, but I see the latest BIOS is from 15th of january, and I've tried it, no luck. (yes, it still works with the 1st version AC-DC adapter though)
I'll monitor this thread, thanks in advance whoever pull a sollution

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 Wakeup On Lan

Last week I finished building a HTPC. I used a motherboard from msi, FM2-A75IA-E53.
I want to place the htpc in a hard to reach place, so it would be nice if I could turn the pc on with WOL.
I found a thread on this forum in which people say that this is possible with this motherboard. But when I go to advanced settings -> Wake Up Event Setup It doesn't have the option for wakeup on lan. It only has options for wakeup on timer, wakeup on PCIE, wakeup on usb keyboard/mouse.
Do I have to update the bios or something? To get this option?

WOL is 'wake', not power up from off. You will still need to be in a sleep  mode. Like a CATV control box, it's always on.
You are able to set wake timers with 'task scheduler'. You also might be able to do a wake up with WMC remote control, so you don't have to touch your PC. But, again in a sleep mode.
I don't know of a way to turn on, from a power off status without a signal or power line contact. Depending on your electrical abilities, you can make a cable with a contact switch to turn on your pc, so you don't have to reach your power switch. You said your power switch is in the back? Do you mean the PSU on/off switch vs. the case power on switch that's tethered to your motherboards power on pins? If you are doing a PSU on/off you can use a wall switched outlet or other plug-in switched power source, but I would not recommend it. If you are constantly having your PC in an unplugged (true power off) status won't your boards cmos battery die quicker? Yes, people put PC's on the side and re-plug it in when needed again, but I had a roommate that turned his PC off with the PSU and kept wondering why his boards battery kept going bad, and mine were lasting. He stopped using the PSU switch and his battery problem went away. I am going back to an AMD 939 socket era, but I wonder if power/memory is still the same. Dependent on the cmos battery for bios and boot?
    Good Luck on your choices.

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 : No Sound with HDMI

    Hi,
I recently bought a MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 for a media PC , installed Windows 8 and after a lot of hassle finally have everything installed...everything works great except I can not get sound through the HDMI port. Windows shows that the HDMI audio is disconnected (cable not plugged in) even though the video works fine through HDMI....just no audio!
I have installed and removed the Realtek HD Audio drivers, as well as the ATI HDMI audio drivers numerous times, in various order and my HTPC does not recognize that I have HDMI sound at all. The only thing that is enabled is "Realtek  Digital Output" which corresponds to an optical jack that isnt even connected.
I have also tried to disable the HD audio from with in the bios to see if that would default to HDMI but alas, still no success.
I recently utilized a trinity APU to update my bios to 2.0 and finally installed a richland APU (A6-6400K) if that makes any difference.
Any Suggestions? I am at my wits end!
    murumasa

Thanks for the reply Flobelix, but I am not sure that is the case for two reasons:
    1) I definitely have an additional audio device that appears under my device manager that accepts the ATI HDMI Audio drivers, and displays them under sound devices. Even if I don't install them, windows identifies an additional audio device it determines as HDMI sound as well. I can also disable the Realtek Audio within the BIOS options and I still have an additional sound device which windows recognizes as a HDMI audio device.
The problem is that windows just doesnt recognize that it has a physical connection.
    2) On the FM2-A75IA-E53 webpage (....msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A75IA-E53.htm) they even advertise their HDMI v1.4 as:
    HDMI v1.4 (AMD)
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is new generation fully digital video/audio interface which can transfer 1080p High-Definition video and Audio output in single compact connector. Supporting HDCP copy protection such as Blu-ray Discs, HDMI provides you with the highest-quality home theater experience.
    Features
    - Next-Gen Multimedia Interface
    - Deliver Full HD Video & Audio output In Only One Cable
So I would assume this motherboard does indeed support HDMI audio.
Has anyone else encountered this problem with this board or a similar MSI board?

Hi , thank you for this post...
the serial number of the board is: 601-7792-010B1303109964
but how is it possible ? on the box it says it supports AMD A10 A8 A6 A4 processors.
yes it needs updating like Flobelix said as its a unsupported CPU by the BIOS the board has!
but how is it possible ? on the box it says it supports AMD A10 A8 A6 A4 processors. - answer is yes it does support the A4-A10 processors but only the Trinity ones (Eg: A6-5400k Trinity APU out the box) not your new Richland one as its not supported without updating the board BIOS to recognize the APU itself!

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 Not in stock Holland

    Dear MSI,
Is there a reason that the MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 mainboard is difficult to order in the Netherlands.
At most shops in Holland the delivery time is now unknown.
The computer shop ordered one for me to replace a broken Asrock one.
Will it be quick back in stock?
    I really hope so.
    Thanks,

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 and 2133mhz RAM

    Hi
I've a MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 motherboard, and I bought this ram:  KHX21C11T2K2/8X, which is currently supported at 2133MHz as MSI says in the Test Reports of this motherboard.
But I cannot manage to get it working, it always reset to factory defaults and shows an OC error. I've tried to do it with Intel XMP sets and also setting it manually but neither of those ways work.
Could you tell me how I have to set it to work at 2133MHz?
    Thanks

No, the memory controller is located on the cpu.

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 with AMD 760K

I bought an MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 motherboard with a FM2 CPU AMD 760K. Now it wont start and I see that the 760K is not officially supported bythtis motherboard.
Will the MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 get support for 760K or do I have to return the motherboard for a compatible one? If support, when will it be released?
    /With Regards

As 760K is a Richland cpu it requires bios 2.0 minimum to work. If your board uses an old bios that's your problem. As 750 is supported with bios 2.0 the 760K should at least work if not be fully supported but just not listed.
Add your S/N to check when your board has been manufacturerd and what bios it is most likely at. If it uses an outdated bios you'll need a trinity cpu to flash it or let that be done by a pc-shop or MSI.

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 no POST

    Hello,
I just bought a FM2-A75IA-E53 board along with a A4-4000 Richland APU and it won't boot. After investigation, it appeared  that the mainboard needed a BIOS update using a Trinity processor. So I bought a A4-5300 and tried again. No more luck, just a black screen. I tried to clear the CMOS, and then when powering on, I could clear hear a long beep, then 2 short beeps. If I turn off, then turn on the PC, there would be no beep anymore. I noticed that if I clear the CMOS again, then turn on => I get the beep code, but only once. Any other attempt to power off/power on would give no beep, unless the CMOS is reset.
According to some guides, 1 long + 2 short beeps would be the BIOS error code for "bad display adapter" or RAM missing, but since the A75IA-E53 has UEFI instead of BIOS, I'm not sure about the actual problem.
I also did another testing: removed all the RAM (DDR3 1333Mhz CL9), cleared the CMOS, powered on => 3 shorts beep. That would obviously mean RAM missing.
Normally the A4 is an APU and must have integrated GPU right? I tried both VGA and HDMI onboard output but none would work. Do you think it requires a discrete GPU on the PCI Express port to work? That would be a shame having to buy extra video card :(
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my bad English

OK.  My motherboard is different than the ones in the video.  There is no battery, or button, or 3 pin jumper.  But there is a two pin jumper.  The manual only says that "keep data" is brown and "clear data" is black.  I am assuming that means a jumper needs to be placed on the JBAT1 jumpers for 5 seconds.
The, I removed the mb from the case and placed it on a cardboard box.
I did this and still cannot post.
So I switched to vga and I still cannot post.
The only components are cpu and memory.  I have an hd and dvd drive, but will not plug them in until I get it to post.
Do the fans spinning mean I have the power hookep up correctly?  The 20 + 4 could only be setup by inserting the 4 pin first, then the 20.  The JPWR2 seemed straight forward.

  • Power supply for MSI 645 Ultra mother board

I need to replace the power supply for a MSI 645 Ultra mother board. I've available a switching power supply Allied model DR-B500E, that doesn't have the -5V output (infact its 20 pin ATX power supply connector has no wire in pin 18).
Can I use this power supply with the MSI 645 Ultra?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, here I am. Sorry for delay but I had some problems with the PC (as NTLDR missing).
However now is ok and I can confirm that it runs ok also with power supply without -5V output.
Thanks a lot for the support and best wishes for Christmas and new year.

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 Over cooking bios and fan setting advice

    Evening.
Slightly bizarre problem in that my machine wants to fry itself when in the bios. I put together a new build of the FM2-A75IA-E53, AMD A10 5800 and a Noctua NH-L9a.
In windows 8.1 it will sit at a healthy 35-42c when web browsing etc but when I enter the bios it rises quite quickly to 60c before I restart the machine (I'm sure it would continue until shut down/reboot). The temperature settings I believe to be correct as I can hold my fingers on the heat-sink and feel it burn.
It's not a big issue as I don't plan to spend anymore time in the bios than whats required.
My next thing is if you could advise me on bios fan settings, I'm running cool & quiet (Trying to think what other settings I have,12.5% and 50c rings a bell) Sorry I could save this text and reboot but I'm lazy. Click bios for some reason requires a fresh install each time to work (It doesn't over heat BTW). I guess what I'm looking is ideal settings to keep the machine cool & quiet. I should point out that when the bios was over heating I wasn't running cool and quiet settings and the fan was over a constant 2,000rpm. At the minute as I type it's 45c at 1100rpm and that's packed into a tiny Lian li PC-Q03 and it's been running a few hours now watching 1080p YouTube vids.
Ohhhh and while I'm here, any sign of 8.1 Wifi drivers?
    Best regards
    Bap

I would suggest either doing it through regular bios instead of click bios, or double checking that you are actually saving it via click bios.
I have my speedfan set to be 12.5% min and kick in around 50 or 60 (quite high, but when the processor itself is so much lower I'm not concerned).

  • Power Supply for MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB

    Hi
I have bought the above card and a Antec Neo Eco 520 power supply. The PSU has a single 8 pin (6+2) PCI-E connector. I looked at a pic of the graphics card and there appears to be a single 6 pin PCI-E connector. I however read on a forum that this card requires a 8 pin and a 6 pin PCI-E supply. So can I use the 6 pin of the 6+2 connector to power the board and if not what do I do.
    thanks in advance
    Gordon

I have a R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC and it has 1 PCI-E 6 pin power connector! just plug the 6 pin part of the 6+2 pin into the header and leave the 2 pins out........
I think you where reading it for the wrong card as the one in that type of range with a 6+8pin connection set is a R7950 on a R7970 board!
here is a list for you:
    MSI R7850 TF 2GD5/OC - 1x 6pin
    MSI R7870 TF 2GD5/OC - 2x 6pin
    MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC (Reference board) - 2x 6pin
    MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC (7970 board) - 1x 6pin + 1x 8pin <--- I think that is what you where reading a discussion about
    MSI R7970 TF 3GD5/OC - 1x 6pin + 1x 8pin
all MSI cards that require PCI-E power connectors come with power adapters in the box that can convert a pair of molex connectors to a 6pin (if it needs a 8 pin to they have a 6pin to 8pin adapter) that can be used so do not worry yourself!
Radeon HD 7850 - 21A and a 500W psu minimum just so you have a guideline!

  • MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 and support for AMD (Trinity) Athlon X4 750K

Hi I just installed everything and notice the Windows bios tool was reading 255c. came to this forum and read threads with the similar issue. someone chimed in on most stating X board only support chips at 95w and the bogus temp readouts is a safe guard. Which make sense to me as I've use hw monitor to confirm the correct temperature. So i bought this chip as it was listed as a supported chip on their specs page. This cpu runs at 100w but they are also running on bios 1.3 which this MB came stock at 1.0/1.1 . So my question if i update to 1.3 will this chip be legitimately supported with all the normal read out or do i try and return the board or the chip?  dont even know what the return policy is on open parts i've just installed everything.
    thanks

The board's very max supported load ability is 95w TDP. Anything above will cause the board faking overheating to start throtteling which makes the board survive. The faking overheating is the 255°C reading. No bios will change that. That's at least better than the alternative as the board's vrms might burn otherwise.

  • A few questions about Memory and Power Supply for MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edit

Bought this Motherboard: MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edition
    975X Platinum V.2(7246-020)
    I have a P4 CPU HT in it with 2 512mb sticks of DDR2 memory (533mhz).
I am upgrading to a Core 2 Duo 6600 CPU which has a 1066mhz FSB
What memory speed should I purchase to achieve the fastest bus speed without overclocking???
I get confused as my current memory is 533 which I guess on a Pentium 4 with HT cuts the FSB speed in 1/2 to 266mhz.
    Any recommendations?
Do I need to buy Dual Channel or can I just buy 2 sticks?
    Thank you
    Peter

    Great info again guys!
I'll stay away from OCZ (I read it's more for overclockers).
    @DryHeat:
I watched your sig, great setup! I'm planning for about the same setup (MSI 975x PUE, P180, C2D, ...). But will try a Scythe Ninja for CPU cooler and use an MSI graphic card (maybe 2 cards for 4 monitors in total).
Is your setup silent or just quiet? Makes a big difference for me.
What would you change now? And what is the most noisy component?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm not an expert and by budget does not permit me from making any mistakes.
The case fans create the most noise.  When they are all on "low" I an hardly hear them and have to shake the mouse to see if it's on, but on medium it sounds like a "standard" computer.  Not terrible, but not quite.  On high they are down-right loud.

    New build:

    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - OEM
IN WIN BP655.300TB3L Black Steel / Plastic Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case (300 Watt TFX Power Man PSU)
Installed Windows, then MSI utilities and Windows Updates through March 2013. Set Speakers to Default and Default Communication Device. Plugged speakers into rear (green 3.5 mm) connector on the motherboard. No Sound. Plugged same Speaker cable into another computer and sound works great (so it's not the speakers or speaker cable).
Did a 2nd quick install on a 1.5 TB WD Green Hard Drive (SATA 6.0 Gb/s) and just loaded Windows 7 SP1 Pro 64-bit with no additional utilities or drivers, verified that the rear speakers were default. Disconnected front audio header cable, and again no sound.
In both setups I used the default Windows Media Player and played the 3 included audio tracks on a loop. None of the speakers were on mute and the green LED's were indicating movement for the sound in the volume control
I suspect it may be a problem with onboard audio - not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers, are:
     - High Definition Audio Device
     - Realtek High Definition Audio Device
Under Properties for each, both devices are (reported as) working properly (i.e., no red X's or Yellow exclamation marks)
The cable for the front panel headphone connection also does not work. As I was plugging the speaker cable in, I did hear a hum on the speakers that went away when the cable was fully inserted (it's the same kind of hum you'd hear if you touched the tip of the cable with your fingers).
After I download the file at the link you provided, it turns out it's the same audio driver update (6.0.1.6823) that I downloaded and installed last night, but since it was a "new" download, I re-installed it (which uninstalls the old, reboots, installs the new, reboots) and the result is the same.
Even after a fresh OS install, Windows 7 natively installs "drivers" and I am unable to get any sound out, so it would appear to be even more basic than the Realtek drivers themselves. No sound even after a native install leads me to think it's either something in the BIOS or a hardware problem with the on-board audio.
If it is the BIOS, what can be checked? Under Mainboard Settings, under Integrated Peripherals, HD Audio Controller is [Enabled]. Are there any other settings related to audio?
