Power supply retailers near Philadelphia? G5 won't turn on anymore.

When I went to bed last night, my Mac was on and running fine. This morning, it was off, and would not turn back on. When I press the power button, absolutely nothing happens. I plan to replace the battery first, as I have seen recommended. If that doesn't do the trick, I'd like to try replacing the power supply. Does anybody out there know of any retailers in the Philadelphia area from which I might be able to purchase the appropriate power supply? I'd hate to wait for it to arrive in the mail from California or other far-away places if I can get it locally.
Just to preempt two questions I know I might get, the machine is totally out of warranty. Every protection plan, etc. I had ran out not too long ago (of course). Also, I've checked the serial number of the machine, and it doesn't fall within the ranges of the machines that had power supply problems.

I just had my Powermac G5 die on me last night and found your post to be similar. I was wondering what you have done to remedy the situation. Was it the battery? I'm inclined to think that the power supply has died on mine. I appreciate any info that you could share. I, too, am uneligable for the replacement program. have you seen any FREE directions on how to replace the power suply yourself?
Many thanks,
Tim Furnish

Three beeps at startup almost always indicate bad RAM. You probably need to get your RAM replaced. Bring it in to Apple for a definitive diagnosis if you are unable to run the Apple HardwareTest

  • My Ipad 2 won`t turn off anymore

    Hello,
    my Ipad 2 64GB Wi-Fi won`t turn off anymore. IOS 5.1.1
When i slide the button it shuts down only to restart itself after few seconds.
Tried allready 10 seconds Power/Home button for reboot. Made a restore like new trough iTunes also.
It would turn off only when pluged in charger, or attached to PC.
    Any ideas ?
Btw. i`m in Europe now, is  Apple warranty international or? ( Ipad bought in US)
    Thanks!

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.
You must see the Apple logo.

  • My ipod touch won't turn on anymore!!!

MY IPOD TOUCH WON'T TURN ON ANYMORE!!
I don't know what happened. but I am beginning to think apple is ripping me and everyone off.
I don't know why I paid about 200-300 dollars for this iPod to be frozen or not turn on anymore!
When I downloaded Currency converter pro, it just froze my ipod.
Either it's that problem, or something is wrong.
I never dropped it in water or anything bad.
    PLEASE HELP.

Have you've tried holding down the power button for several seconds?
If so and you're still getting nothing you may have to do a hard restore.
here's how to do it on Mac OS:
    1. Connect you're iPod to the computer with the sync cable, and open iTunes.
    2. Hold down the power and home buttons for 10seconds, then release the power button (continue holding the home button for about another 6-8 seconds). iTunes should display a message stating that the iPod is in restore mode and needs to be restored before it can be used (or something to that effect).
3.Hitting the restore button will likely give an error message. You'll need to hold down option and click the restore button, which will bring up a file browser. Navigate to *<your user name>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/* and choose iPod2,12.2.1_5H11aRestore.ipsw (or similar ipsw file depending on your ipod, or iphone, generally choose the newest one) and click open.
    4. Wait for it to restore, when that's finished you should be able to further restore it using the backup that was generated when you last synced it.
I have never done this on windoze, but I imagine it's quite similar, just not sure where you'd find the ipsw file.

  • My ipod nano 7th generation is stuck in a restore loop with a white screen. Now it won't turn on anymore. What to do?

My new Ipod Nano 7th generation is stuck in a restore loop. Here is what happened: I added music to it using the latest version of iTunes, the colored bar at the bottom of the summary tab in iTunes showed my that I added it and I disconnected it to listen to the music. As I turned it on, it told me that there is neither music nor pictures on it. So I connected it again to my computer and iTunes told me that I had to restore. Which I did following all the steps but it keep telling me that I need to restore it. After three times of restore it, I disconnected it from my PC and turned it off. Now it won't turn on anymore - even though the battery is fully charged - and when I connect it to iTunes, iTunes tell me "The iPod software updater could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes." Well, I just downloaded the newest version a couple of minutes ago from the apple website. My iPod stays black. What shall I do?

    Hi clarity,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

So I have a brand new hp pavilion running on windows 8, but as the title states it won't turn on anymore. The problem started after I accidentally removed the battery when it was running. Now the only thing that lights up is the little orange light over the wifi button on the top of the keyboard but the rest does nothing. So if anyone has any solutions please send them to me.

  • Power Button Stuck, Screen Freezes, Apps won't turn on, ETC.

Please Understand, I am an apple customer, I buy apple technology, and I purchase from the app and music store.
I am very unhappy with the service and technology Apple has provided me with. I am 15 years old and I don't have a phone to communicate with, only an iPod because my parents are of the older generation and don't think young people should have phones. So I guess I'm **** out of luck until I'm 17. So instead of having a phone, I bought and ipod touch 4g so I could use Kik, Snapchat, TextFree, and listen to my music as well. I have used multiple other Apple iPods, only to find out that every single one I got either got corrupted or would just out of the blue stop working. Just recently, I found out how ****** the iPod screens are, my iPod screen dropped not even 2 feet and shattered. So I had my brother in law, who has a computer and technology business, replace my screen and put in a new one. After my screen was put in, my ipod was completely fine. Had no issues and no cracks. But just 3 weeks ago my iPod power button somehow got stuck. I tried mutliple things to fix it, (even had my brother in law try) and we found that there is no way to fix it, AND I found out that the price to pay to fix a stupid power button was $99.00. By the way, paying to get a lousy power button fixed is ******* ridiculous, considering that making a piece of **** like this iPod, probably costs around half the price that it sells for AND is made in either China or Taiwan. Now I know I might get some pretty snobby *** comments about how I don't need an iPod because I'm just a little spoiled brat. Actually that statement is false, considering that I have to work to buy my own iPod. Now, instead of just writing a crap ton of useless words that I know alot of poeple won't read, I will just list the problems that I am having:
Power button is stuck and won't let me do anything. (No, I am not talking about the home button located and the bottom of the iPod)
Apps ALWAYS crash and never let me do what I intend to do. (I don't know if that's because of the app manufacturers or not but my apps are all completely updated)
My music on various occassions won't turn on.
Whenever I try tapping on an app, it leads me to another app in which I don't need to get to.
My keyboard on all occassions wigs out, (for example: when I tap the letter T my keyboard makes Tttttttttttt. I don't need that many T's, sorry)
My camera is slow, and will not take pictures most of the time.
    My asssistive touch NEVER works.
I have called Apple support and whenever I would get connected to a representative they wouldn't help me.
    The Apple support service *****.
As you can tell, I am not a very happy customer and I'm sure you wouldn't be either considering the fact that my iPod is basically toast, and a big waste of money. I know there are more things to worry about like cancer and whatever BUT this is a technoloical issue not a health issue so don't even try to play that card. If I could have any assistance regarding my issue, I would love to have help.
Thank you for taking your time to read my novel of an issue.

I would recommend that you try backing up your iPod and wiping it clean. Once it is factory reset, restore your data onto it. This should solve your software-based issues.
Now, the stuff that happens, such as another app opening or the keyboard freaking out, if not fixed by the restore, are because of your replacement screen. Also, Apple is charging you $99 to repair the lock button because you have voided the warranty by breaking the device. Who knows? Maybe the drop or the repair caused the button to go out of wack.
Finally, it's cool that you work for your own stuff. I live in a lower middle class area in a lower middle class family and pay for all of my stuff as well. My MacBook Pro, my iPhone 5S, my iPad Air, etc. I know the pain of spending hard earned money. BTW, I'm only 17, and still in High School as well.
Anywho, let me know if the restore works, but as for the physical damage caused by you, you can't blame anyone but yourself for that. I wish you luck.

  • E63 won't turn on anymore

On Friday night, I forgot to charge my phone and the battery completely died. I charged it all day and all night on Saturday. The phone still won't turn on. When I hold the power button, all I get is a white light behind the tactile square button in the middle of the phone. I've tried reformatting the phone, but nothing happens. I bought my phone in June so it's fairly new.

just try using a different charger...one that is 100% compartible with ur phone and do not overcharge your phone!!! do notttt !!
    hope this works for u.

  • GT70 won't turn on anymore

After suddenly turning itself off last night while running a benchmark, my notebook won't turn on amymore.
At the time it was running on mains power without battery in.
Ive tried disconnecting everything and then  running on battery and was unsuccessful.
Pressing the power button will light it up for 1 second and i can hear some sound, but it then immediately goes dark and quiet again.
It is still able to charge the battery though
Any ideas if i can still fix this or is this notebook gone for good?

    Hello,
I have a GT70 too and it was with the battery and plugged on AC and it shut down while playing Skyrim. Since it's out of Warranty i opened it and found nothing weird or "smelly". I too have the power button lighting up for one second and fan launch sometime but stops immediatly.
Did you contact MSI to know if they could repair it ? Or do they not repair thing out of warranty ? Because at the price of the laptop, after 1year and a half i would love to have it repair even if i have to pay something.
Hope you sorted out the problem. Because more than 1K laptop for less than 2 year is not good :(
I tried to call the number of the support on the "support MSI page" and it said that it's closed "Today as of 30 May 2013 and to call back tomorrow". I hope they just forgot to update their message and that the French support is still active. I'll try to contact them again tomorrow.

  • Playbook won't turn on anymore unless plugged in

I've had my playbook for about 2 weeks and up until yesterday morning it was working perfectly. Now it won't turn on. When I plug it into the mains using the provided charger the red light lights up for about 10 seconds then goes off for about 5 and just keeps repeating.
I plugged it into my pc to try and run the device manager but the light does the same thing and I cannot turn it on. When it's plugged into the PC it sounds as though it's connected then when the light goes off it sounds as though the device has been disconnected
I left it over night to charge and this morning the red light was green, as though it was fully charged, I pressed the power button and the playbook came to life but the battery said it only had half charged. As soon as I take out the charger, the playbook turns off again and cannot be switched back on. It's incredibly frustrating.
I've also tried the three button re-boot and nothing works.
I'm taking it back to the store I bought it from to try and get a replacement (I'm still within the 3 weeks warranty with the store) but I wanted to know if this was a common problem that can be solved without taking it back?

    No, not common.
Try this, while connected to your charger. Press and hold the Power key, up and down volume (-/+) all three buttons simultaneously for about 10-12 seconds. That should allow a reset of the PlayBook and to power up.

  • Laptop won't turn on anymore

    Have a compaq presario V6000 -> v6110us
It has always ran very, very hot. About a year or so ago the wireless card died. Now the computer won't run the BIOS or give any display. If you leave it off for a while, pull out the plug and battery and wait about 20 minutes and then turn it on everything works. However, upon immediate reboot it won't turn back on.
The computer lights light up (volume controls, etc, light on the power button), but no noises of hdd spinning or fans, and then all of a sudden the lights will flash off and right back on but still no display.
It makes no difference if the battery is in or out. Also, I know someone with the same computer so I tried their AC adapter with no luck. Switched the harddrive and memory and this was still a problem. Finally, I tried to boot the computer with no ram in it and still nothing happened, no beeps/bios/display.
I came across this on an internet search: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu … c=en&cc=us
Our model/part number fits the bill. Is something fried? Or are there other recommendations I can try?

As you indicated, it sounds like some sort of overheating problem going on there. Maybe time to send it to laptop heaven...

  • Macbook Pro won't turn on anymore (no sound, no power etc.)

I have a Macbook Pro I purchased in February of 2008. Earlier this evening I was working on it, plugged in, and put it aside with the screen open. I woke it up from it's sleep mode, did a little work, then closed it and put it on the side again. A few hours later I opened it and it wouldn't wake up. I tried pressing the power button and nothing would happen.
The light on the front is not on/blinking. When I plug in the power it shows that the battery is fully charged. The battery itself says it's fully charged too (with the battery indicator button). I tried removing the battery and putting it back in but no luck.
When I press the power button it sounds as if the computer is going to start up (you hear that sound you hear when it would wake up from sleep or startup). But before anything happens it goes back to being dead. Basically as if the battery is completely drained.
From googling it seems as if it may be the logic board am I correct?? If so is my HD still fine in that case? All my stuff is on it and ofcourse not backed up, besides that I have all my email and such on there too ofcourse.
One more thing, I have a small crack in the bezel of the screen on the lower left bottom. Is there any way that may be related?? The crack has been there for a few weeks and the computer has continued to function completely normal. I've made sure there's been minimal pressure on the crack by putting a clip on it to keep the screen in it's place.
    thanks in advance

    Certainly could be.

    Should be.

I'm guessing the answer to that is yes. How did it get there?

    Try removing the clip.
You can try FireWire Target Disk Mode for transferring files, or remove the HD and install it in an external enclosure for 2.5" SATA HD.

  • My iPod Touch 2nd Generation won't turn on anymore

I have had this iPod for about a year now, just enough for the warranty to expire, just as I was surfing the internet the spinning dial came up and it shut off. At first I thought it just died. I plugged it in and let it charge overnight, when I woke up it would turn on but all what would happen is the Apple logo would pop up then after about 30 seconds the screen would dim and another 30 seconds it would shut off. I took this to many dealer for troubleshooting including AT&T, Radio Shack, BestBuy, and  Verizon but none could help me.Not because they weren't allowed, just they couldn't get to work. I tried to plug it in to my laptop, but that didn't work either. It doesn't even show up and it won't show up in iTunes. PLEASE HELP IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION I'M ONLY 15 AND DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO GET IT REPAIRED

    Start with a simple Reset:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).
If that doesn't help move on to Restore and then to Recovery.

  • Brand new 27" iMac won't turn on anymore.

I bought this computer new on Friday last week. I only got it back from a data transfer yesterday.
Everything was fine until my screen grayed out and said I have to shut down the computer. I shut it down and now it won'tturn back on. I can here the hard drive and fan spin but there is nothing happening on the monitor.
    Any ideas?

If the plug is flush inside the back of the machine, and the power outlet you have it connected to works for a lamp, you have a lemon.  Bring it back for an exchange.

Any ideas on how to make it work again? The button on the top hasn't really work very well for awhile now, so trying to reset it by hiding that button down and the home button won't work. Please help?

Oh boy! We need to get access to your phone again, HEATHERZimont! I can't imagine what you are feeling.
If you aren't able to reset the device due to a problem with the power button, we may have a slight problem.
    Try this http://vz.to/11CspQL.
If that doesn't work, then we would need to check the warranty and/or replacement options. Let me know what happens when you try the alternate reset steps.
