Power Supply Status Changed - every 12 seconds

Server Monitor shows all green for all components, but the log shows a red message every 12 seconds "Power Supply Status Changed". The power is coming through an APC UPS device, which also appears to be working fine. Any ideas?

I don't see anything wrong (CPU power?), and the Server Monitor app shows all green lights and everything "Normal" except CPU Core amps at 7 amps peaking to 10.25 or so, which it calls "High".
What (if anything) is wrong, and what (if anything) should/could I do to fix it? Is this related to the original problem?
Thanks!

  • Power Supply Status Changed

    A while back our Xserve G5 went on UPS power for a few seconds. No big deal just a power blip.
    Since then we get a "Power Supply Status Changed" message in the server log ever 12 seconds. I can't get it to go away. Server has been rebooted multiple times.
    The OS Version is 10.4.1
    Everything is functioning normally and there are no power problems. How do I stop this message?

    We are also using the APC. Not sure which model, but we are also getting the same messages. We disconnected the cable early last week and the message is still going. We have been investigating all logs on our server for another problem which is where the server just stops being available on the network. To fix requires a restart using the power button to turn if off and then on again.
    Then all is normal except for the "Power Supply Status Changed" error.
    So far this is the only error we get that shows a problem exists.
    Is anyone else also having the lockup problem?

  • Use SNMP to monitor the power supply status of stacked switches

    Does anybody know how to use SNMP to monitor the status of the internal power supplies of a group of stacked Cisco 3750 switches?
    The switch stack has three 3750-48PS-E switches inter-connected by Cisco StackWise cable. IOS ver 12.1(19)EAlc. A single IP address is used to identify the switch stack. Every time I poll the OID chassisPs1Status (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.2.4.0 in CISCO-STACK-MIB), I only got the status for the Master switch of the switch stack. Is there any way to poll the power supply status of other switches in the switch stack?
    Thanks a lot!

    Sorry to refresh such an old topic - but I am stuck with exactly this: Monitoring power supplies of a stacked Cisco Catalyst 3750-E.
    I'm using the exact same OID's as described, but the problem is, the information shown on the SNMP output is not correct.
    This morning, a power supply of the first switch failed and switched to RPS. Here the information I got on SNMP:
    snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.1.50 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.4.2060 = INTEGER: 2
    As you see, both PS1 (for both switches) are appearing normal. It doesn't even recognize RPS:
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.1059 = STRING: "Sw1, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.2060 = STRING: "Sw2, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
    The first switch's power supply died and now the cable is disconnected. LED's of the power supply are out. And still: The switch happily announces by SNMP it's power supplies are up.
    Is this a known bug? If yes, has it been fixed?

    Issue: looking for a snmp OID to poll power supply status (Inbuilt Power Supply -  no redundant power supply in this scenario). Possibly what we see in show environment.
    CSE analysis:
    I tried using the OIDs belonging to CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB , like cefcFRUPowerOperStatus and cefcFRUPowerAdminStatus but it didn’t return anything.
    NOTE: I have done all the snmp walks from the Linux server. Do I doubt it’s something to do from the snmp manager side.
    Couple of observations. The  CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB talks about the field replaceable power supplies, so I doubt if it’s going to return the value for inbuilt power supply.
    Second, I noticed that there are snmp traps supported for power supply and threshold setting. See configuration below. Is it that only traps works for power supply and environment related details?
    Snmpwalk on cefcFRUPowerStatusEntry returns nothing:
    [root@tonbenso-eagle bin]# ./snmpwalk -v2c -c public 172.16.169.29 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.1.2.1

    Snmpwalk on cefcFRUPowerAdminStatus returns nothing:

    [root@tonbenso-eagle bin]#

    I tried polling the ciscoEntityFRUControlMIB to see what all values it return. It just returned enterprises.9.9.117.1.3.1.0 = INTEGER: 2. Meaning cefcMIBEnableStatusNotification is FALSE (value 2). Meaning cefcModuleStatusChange, cefcPowerStatusChange, cefcFRUInserted, cefcFRURemoved, cefcUnrecognizedFRU and cefcFanTrayStatusChange are prevented from being sent.

    Hi
    I've got an ASA with redundant power supplies. An ASA5585. So I have the need to monitor them. :-) So how can we do it?
    Also I've made a SNMP-Walk through the ASA v8.4(2)8 and it doesn't show up any ENV-MIB values. The
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13 tree is not available. Are you shure it's available on the ASA?
    Funny is also that the command "show snmp-server oidlist" from the 8.4 configuration guide is not available on the real CLI. I think the documentation guys were faster than the coders. ;-)
    Kind regards
    Roberto

  • Display the power supply status in the IPS 4270

    How to display the status of the power supply on the IPS 4270
    since the IPS has two power supplies and one has failed, so i want to check what is causing this failure (i am looking for a message from the CLI describing that the IPS power were failed).

    At this time, there is no method to display the status of the power supply from the CLI or IDM GUI of the IPS-4270.  There is an open enhancement request to have this capability added in a future release of the IPS software.

  • ILO 4 scripting to get Power Supply Status

    Hi all,
    Been using the iLO xml scripting tools via cpqlocfg.exe and hponcfg.exe to retrieve status information from a server running iLO 4.
    If I use the web interface, I can get information about the power supplies and their redundancy status as shown below - but I can't seem to get this information using the scripting system. Does anyone know how to do it??
    Thanks,
    Daz
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    I've found it!  In case anyone is wondering, a lot of server information is available by querying with the iLO xml tag "GET_EMBEDDED_HEALTH".
    This returns, buried way down in the results, information about power supplies (section POWER_SUPPLIES).
    While there doesn't seem to ask for just information on the power supplies, this works!

  • Monitoring 3750x and 3560x Redundant Power Supply and Fans

    I need help for monitoring the redundant power supply of my switches (3750x and 3560x)
    I have configured my snmp on my switches and is able to monitor interfaces, temperature and etc.
    The problem is when I am monitoring the redundant power supply and fans.
    I am using two Cisco C3KX-PWR-350WAC Modular Power Supply per switch.
    The OID I use to monitor the PSU are the following:
    Power Supply 1
    .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.5.1.3 Instance: 1003
    Power Supply 2
    .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.5.1.3 Instance: 1004
    When I do an SNMP walk, the value is showing (1) which means normal.
    When I simulate a power outage on power supply 1 or 2 by unplugging the power source, the value doesn't change and is still (1).
    Values: normal(1), warning(2), critical(3), shutdown(4), notPresent(5)
    As for the Fans:
    When I remove the fan module, I am able to get a notification that the fans are down, but when I plug back the fan module it is now using a different instance.
    Below is my config for SNMP:
    snmp-server community XXXXXXXXXXXXXX RO
    snmp-server location XXXXXX
    snmp-server contact XXXXXX
    snmp-server chassis-id Cisco3560X

    snmp-server enable traps errdisable
    snmp-server enable traps vlan-membership

    Note: This problem is the same for all of my 3560X switches and 3750X switches. I am not sure if I am monitoring the wrong OID.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
    You are running an old IOS code , definitely you are hitting a BUG .
    there is no workaround or I would say unfirtunetely you will not be able to get the correct power supply status via SNMP.
    you need to use command line for this.
    I mean "show env all "
    **** if you want to know the Excat BUG that your code is hitting ,please contact TAC.
    Thanks-

  • Intel Xserve Blower for Power Supply 1 Out drops to 0 RPM momentarily

    10.5.6 Server. Machine is less than a year old. Yesterday I configured Server Monitor for the first time and have received two notifications of the blower for the Power Supply Out changing to zero RPM. It is momentary and goes back to normal.
    Everything else is in the normal range -- temp, voltage.
    Is this normal or indication of future failure?

    Hi Forum folks.
    I've had a 6-month (ish) Xserve doing the same thing. Every day, at least once a day, I'd get an email / SMS, saying the power supply or blower was having a momentary problem.
    After shutting down the server, I pulled out the Power Supply Units, and checked them out.
    Turns out, one of them had a slightly damaged heat sink (damage visible without opening the PSU). So, I swapped it for a spare I'd purchased. And then got the damaged unit (damaged internally at factory by the look of it) replaced by my Apple Reseller.
    Note: the newer Intel XServes (early 2008) have a 750w PSU, compared to a 650w PSU, in the 2006 Intel XServes. The older PSUs fit in the newer Xserves, but they DO NOT function. (You'll get an error in Server monitor).
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers,
    Derek

  • Power Supply Problems dv6000 - Please Help

    Hi,
    I have a weird problem with my power supply to HP Pavillion dv6000.
    When i turn on my computer the power supply flickers periodically every 2 seconds as if there is a position problem but there isn't.
    When i turn off my computer with the battery inside it shows that it's charging but sometimes it doesn't.
    When i take the battery out of the computer the computer doesn't charge at all.
    Anyone had the same problems?
    Thanks

    HP released BIOS updates for some models with charging problems. Check your drivers page using button at top of this page_'Support & Drivers'.
    Be sure to use complete model number as shown in Section 1 or P/N shown in Section 2 when searching for correct page.

  • How to control HV power supply (0-5V control voltage)?

    Hey there,
    I (LV newbie) wonder how to control my DELTA ELEKTRONIKA Powersupply with Labview. The control interface is a 0-5V analog input to set the power supply's output current.
    Also I want to get some feedback of the set power supply current from an second (GPIB-controlled) instrument.
    So how do I have to program a closed loop contol (application is not time critical), cause it would be mixed up of controlling by analog out (0-5V) and feedback loop driven on the GPIB-Card?
    For a first step a simple control loop to set the current and monitor it on an analog input would also be an assistance .
    THX for anyone helping

    Look in the example finder for DAQmx functions for analog input and analog output.

  • Animate object every second according to set values?

    OK, so this has been driving me nuts for most of the morning, and I can't seem to figure it out.  (But my code writing from scratch is scrappy, at the best of times!)
    I have three shape layers that need to change size every second (or possibly at another set interval), but I have the sizes defined.  It's an animated chart, with each second marking a month, but for thea animation to go smoothly.
    I have found a handful of expressions, but can't seem to get any of them to work as I need them.  I've tried this:
    linear(time, 0, 1,  content("mycircle").size*1,  content("mycircle").size*1.3);
    Which works for one second, but can't seem to get it to size for two seconds like this:
    linear(time, 0, 1,  content("mycircle").size*1,  content("mycircle").size*1.3);
    linear(time, 1, 2,  content("mycircle").size*1.3,  content("mycircle").size*1.4);
    And I've tried this, which like the one above, only reads the last value in the script:
    content("mycircle").size.valueAtTime(time + 1)*1;
    content("mycircle").size.valueAtTime(time + 2)*1.3;
    content("mycircle").size.valueAtTime(time + 3)*1.4;
    I thought it might be possible to do with an array, somehow, but can't figure out how.
    If "mycircle" size has to change every second for each month, as below:

    What would be the best expression to do that?  Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
    I'm fairly new to expressions, too.  Please be gentle.

    Try this:
    myArray = [1,1.3,1.4,1.3,1.6,1.2,1.2,1.1,1,1.4,1.5,1.2];
    idx = Math.min(Math.floor(time),11);
    value*myArray[idx]

  • 6509 Power Supply Output Failure

    I have a 6509 chassis w/1 Sup720 and dual 3000W power supplies. When I power it on it runs for about 3-5 minutes and the power supplies shutdown. The red "Output Failure" light comes on. They are connected to 110V/20Amp circuits. These are the same circuits that were used with a previous set of power supplies (lower wattage). I removed everything from the chassis except for the fan tray and the sup module to reduce the power demand. Same result. Thoughts?

    Hi
    Have u tried running the box with single power supply instead of both supplies ??
    Also are u getting the LED status on both the power supply unit ??
    You can also use show environment power,show environment,show power commands to check out the power supply status.
    for more info on power supply management with 6500 do check this link out..
