Power supply upgrade HP Pavilion p7-1423w

Hello forum! I have an HP Pavilion p7-1423w.  Looking for a power supply upgrade that can accomodate more than one hard drive and/or SSD and more than one DVD/BD player. Don't want to add any adapters. (Last inline adapter I got from HP literally caught FIRE and destroyed my previous PC!)
Anyone know any compatible power supplies I can use that come with plugs I'm seeking?
Also, if I do add an SSD, is there anyway of having it run the operating system? (Make it the primary drive?)
Thanks if anyone can help.

Theoretically, there is no maximum limit to what you could install. There have been reports of HP consumer desktop computers not working with power supplies rated over 650 watts. There is absolutely no reason to replace your power supply unless you intend on installing a high-powered graphics card or a large numbers of drives and accessories. Please consider the Corsair CX500, CX500M, CX600, and CX600M. These power supplies are known to fit most HP consumer desktop computers and will power all but the most extreme upgrades.

  • Video card and power supply upgrade

Hi, can i put in my hp pavilion p6-2315el an asus gtx 760 and a 600w power supply?

The card should should work provided there is enough space for it. I would recommend the Corsair CX500M and CX600M power supplies. These are modular version of Corsair power supplies known to fit in many HP desktop cases. The modular PSUs require less cabling and thefefore will provide for better air flow.
If the ASUS GTX 760 doesn't work, please see old_geekster's reply in GTX 750 Ti and HP Pavilion p6-2108p? Are they compatible for a possible solution.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Power supply for HP Pavilion m7-1015dx Entertainment Notebook PC

I have a HP Pavilion m7-1015dx Entertainment Notebook PC.
The power supply (AC adaptor) that it comes with is HP part number 608428-002.
I also have a different power supply (AC adaptor) that came with a much older HP Pavilion notebook.  This older power supply is HP part number 519329-003.
Is the HP Pavilion m7-1015dx compatible with the older power supply (part number 519329-003)?
    Thanks!
    Mike

519329-003 is definitely the right part number.  I just double-checked, and that's what's written on the hardware.   If you do a google search for "hp part 519329-003", you get a ton of results.
The older HP notebook has another power supply, with HP part number 608428‑002 608428‑002 608428‑002 608428-002.  So I know that 608428-002 and 519329-003 are equivalent.
Is the newer notebook (the HP Pavilion m7-1015dx) compatible with the power supply that has HP part number 608428-002?

  • Optiplex 960 DT Power Supply Upgrade

Does anyone know if the standard 255 watt power supply unit (PSU) for the Optiplex 960 DT chassis can be upgraded to a higher wattage PSU?  Any recommendations if this is possible?  The DT chassis is smaller than the MT (minitower chassis) and bigger than the small form factor chassis.  Thanks!

Hi, on 23rd of December i got mine 960 MT with 255W power supply. I imediately change it with spare 305W PS from optiplex 755. If fits and now I can run Radeon HD 4850 Toxic video card without power problems.
Try to use optipplex 755 DT power supply (280W) but i don't know for any other that will fit.

  • K450E Power Supply Upgrade

Hello I'm thinking about upgrading my K450e power supply because I plan to upgrade the video card to a GTX 960 at a later date. From what I've read the K450e supports standard ATX PSUs, but I want to be sure before I purchase anything. Here is what I plan on buying. Thank you in advance for your help. http://www.microcenter.com/product/406088/CX_Series_CX600M_600_Watt_ATX_Modular_Power_Supply

    hi Genesis5o5o,
    Welcome to the Forums.
The PSU that you linked should work on the K450e together with the GTX 960 as other users have also upgraded their K450e as much as a GTX 970 and a 750W PSU.

  • M57 Power supply upgrade

I've been researching new power supplies for my M57. Everything seems to indicate I have to use the 280 watt Lenovo power supply. But nothing says why.
I don't see any unique plugs on it. Is it a non standard physical size? Non standard 24pin allocation? Does anyone know?
    Thanks,
    Brian

Thanks for the reply. I am upgrading for a video card. ATI 7750. It is working now, but 280 watts is below its recommended minimum.
In 2 weeks use, I have had one BSOD which, among other causes, could be caused by low power to an ATI video card.
It should be a quick fix to test. I have spare standard PC power supplies, I just didn't want to plug one in and fry the motherboard.
    Brian.

  • H8-1287c power supply upgrade

I purchased an h8-1287c from Sam's and would like to upgrade the video card. But, the PS that comes with this PC is really small at only 300 watts. I noticed that during customization of an HP PC on your shopping site I can spec a larger PS -- so I assume that larger PS types are available that will work with this PC. Can you point me to a link that I can use to order a larger PS? Or if it is a "standard" type that can be replaced with a 3rd party PS then please advise. Thanks!

As a quick update, I found a link in another post here on the upgrades forum for an upgraded PS for a similar HP. This is the PS mentioned: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W  - will this one work for the h8-1287c? Thanks!

  • I have a HP Pavilion a6603w. I want to upgrade power supply to run powerful graphic card. Suggest

I have a HP pavilion a6603w desktop model number FK555AA-ABA a6603w.  I have a low to mid level graphics card, which is the most that my power supply will handle.
I want to get a stronger power supply to run a high end graphics card with a self cooling fan.  Can anyone suggest an excellent, reliable power supply brand and model that will fit into my desktop case with minimum fuss?  I am not tech savy but I have replaced my video card and hard drives with no problem.

Hello lugnut1204, I checked the specifications for your system and is appears the system shipped with a 250 power supply. The dimensions for this power supply are 5 15/16 inches wide, 5.5 inches long, and 3 3/8 inches tall. Since your system is a MicroATX version, you would be slightly limited to a power supply of the same size as the original power supply.
Here  is a link to Newegg where a Corsair 600 watt power supply can be found with almost the exact same physical size as you original 250 watt version. The Corsair power supply dimensions are 5.9 inches wide, 5.5 inches long, and 3.4 inches tall.
If you get a power supply too long, it may interfer with the back of the CD\DVD drives.
You would need to locate a video card that you wanted and make sure the power supply requirements were less than the 600 watt Corsair model. Most of the mid to higher end cards require at leaset a 400 to 500 watt or greater power supply.

  • Power Supply and Graphics Card Question for HP Pavilion a6432p

    Hello!
I have the HP Pavilion a6342p, and I'm wanting to install an NVIDIA Graphics Card either 512MB or 1GB. However, I'm not sure what is the power supply to this model (most graphics cards are saying 300-350W supply required).
Can anyone tell me what is the power supply to this model, and what would be a good graphics card model to look at to upgrade my graphics card to with this model? I believe the expansion slots are PCI-Express, but I'm not sure on the power supply so I can get the right graphics card.
    Thanks!
    Nathan

[edit] err, the 9100 is an integrated video chipset.  Are you sure that's the correct number?
No the 9100 is not just an integrated video chipset and is available in both AGP & PCI form.
The Antec is a good PSU but I would recommend getting something better such as the OCZ or Enermax as they have a higher +12v rail amp.

  • Need help with power supply & graphics card upgrades

I have a HP Pavilion p6320y that I bought 8 months ago. AMD Phenom II x4820 Quad Core processor.   I play WoW and since the last big patch, have been suffering with low fps. I updated drivers and followed all the advice given to me by Blizz and finally figured out that my Nvidia GeForce 9100 (integrated graphics) isn't good enough anymore.
I checked my computer and discovered that I have a 300w power supply (12V) and read on another post here that something stronger than 300w is needed to run a decent graphics card.
    Now for my questions:
How much of a power supply can I upgrade to without hurting my computer, but will be enough to run a good card?
What would be a good graphics card for this computer?
I've been looking at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express graphics card and wonder if that will work on my computer.  Most of the nicer cards seem to be the PCI Express and I'm not sure if that will work.
Any advice will be most helpful. I have some experience with the inner workings of my PC and would like to fix this myself instead of running to the closest computer shop and paying someone else to. Thanks!
    This question was solved.

Well, you are starting out from a fairly low baseline with the integrated graphics. It will not cost much to have a substantial increase if all you want to do is run WoW without error messages. Yes, the 300w power supply is an issue and rules out any card that will require its own power (i.e. needs its own power cord like a hard drive) but there are several mid-grade cards that can run off bus power alone (i.e. just from the pci-e slot itself). Just taking a quick look at newegg.com I see the following:
    GeForce 9400 under $50
    Radeon HD 4650 under $50
    GeForce 9500GT a little over $50
Any of these should get you where you want to be and not require a PS upgrade. The slot you have available is a PCI Express x16 slot so don't look at AGP cards; they will not work. If you want to install the card you mention you need to get a better PSU.

Sorry for the long copy and paste. I read that I can upgrade the video card and power supply. But atm when I play world of warcraft at ultra settings, I tend to lag really bad in the new instances with the new cat expansion that came out. I wanted to know if I should upgrade the video card and power supply for better performance or just upgrade my whole pc tower.  Fyi, I am running a Acer X243w lcd flat panel monitor if that helps too.

My brother has a high end laptop with a built in, high end gaming video card (I forget which one). He's able to run the game on full-on Ultra.
I have an integrated video card which games the game on.. 'cartoon'.. mode. It's lower then low. When someone shoots a powerful spell at me, I go into a DOS Prompt. (not really, but it's pretty bad).
Funny thing is, I can still kick my brother's butt in any PVP match he wants to set up.
But I guess his graphics are pretty....
As for which video card works best, I'd have to do some research. After that graphics update they did with CAT,  it's kind of a toss up again.
