Power view error while opening excel fine in SharePoint 2010

I am getting an error while opening an excel file:
"The following features
are not supported in the browser and might not display or might display only partially:
• Comments, Shapes, or other
objects
Some features, such as external
data queries, display cached data which can only be refreshed in the client version of Excel."
Is this issue browser
related or SharePoint related?

Hiya,
it depends what that file contains. There are a lot of new features for Excel, Excel services in the newer versions of SharePoint and SQL server. So it really depends on which of these features your using in your excel file.
What version is your SharePoint and SQL server(database services) and SQL Reporting?
There is a pretty specific article for that error message relating to PowerPivot.

And some additional information on Excel services

  • Error while opening excel integration with sap

    Hi
While view planning with excel integration in SAP, I am getting error. I am getting this error in CCA and COPA also.
Can anybody help me how to resolve the issue. Please see the meessage
    Error while opening document
    Message no. SOFFICEINTEGRATION143
    Diagnosis
An error occurred in the desktop application while opening a document.
    Procedure
Check first whether you can insert a document from this desktop application as an embedded object in another application. The necessary menu item is usually 'Insert --> Object'. The application then lists all of the OLE document types. Choose the type corresponding to the desktop applciation. If the insertion fails, the error is in the desktop application itself.
This error has various causes. Often, it is caused by activating certain add-ins. Sometimes, the desktop application is wrongly installed. The error should not recur once you have disabled any add-ins or reinstalled the desktop application.
    Procedure for System Administration
If you cannot solve the problem as described above, enter a problem message. There are notes relating to how to generate the log file using the program SAPROFFICEINTEGRATIONTRACE.

    Hi Aditi,
Which type of workflow did you use?
Did you create the workflow using SharePoint 2010 Designer or built-in workflow template?
If the workflow was created using SharePoint 2010 Designer, for editing the workflow using SharePoint Designer, open the site with SharePoint 2010 Designer, then click the 'Workflows' in left panel. Then in the right panel, click the workflow that you
want to edit, then click 'edit workflow' under Customization.
    I hope this helps.

  • OPM Error while opening excel files

When I open the excel file of my rule, it gives the following error.
    Oracle Policy Modeling
An error occurred while opening the document 'C:\Documents and Settings\HCHATURV\Desktop\Customer Service\OPA\Development\Rules\Raise.xls': Unable to set the Installed property of the AddIn class
    OK
I uninstalled OPA from my machine and again installed it but no result.
I would be thankful If somebody can help.

What version of OPA/OPM is this? What operating system & processor type (32 or 64 bit)? What version of Excel?
Depending on what was active when installing or uninstalling, Excel may not be looking at the correct location of the OPM add-in. The one time I've seen this was with XP and Office 2007 (both 32 bit) which was solved by the following:
    1) Open the excel document outside OPM
    2) Select "Excel Options" from the Office Menu (circle at top left). Select "Add-Ins", then find "Manage: Excel Add-Ins", and click "Go...".
    3) Tick Oracle Policy Modeling Excel 2007 (if it is already ticked, try un-ticking, pressing okay, and ticking it again)
    4) Press OK
    5) Try opening the workbook again in OPM.
I think if you can convince Excel that the add-ins isn't active any more, then OPM will be able to convince Excel to use the correct location.

    Hello,
I assume that you have Excel installed in your computer.
So, I think that this error is a problem with your Internet Explorer configuration.
Try to open them with IE 32 bits.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot open Excel documents in Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise

We keep having this recurring issue where sharepoint will not allow users to open Excel documents. They receive the error:
"Unable to process the request. Wait a few minutes and try performing this operation again".
I did some research and it turns out that a simple reboot causes the issue to subside, but it comes back again.
    Any ideas?

  • Getting error while running SSRS report in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
I am getting below error while running a SSRS reports in SharePoint. Your help will be appreciated

    Timestamp: Wed, 5 Nov 2014 11:58:42 UTC
Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 503
    Line: 5
    Char: 62123
    Code: 0
    Thanks,
    Manjunath

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you get error while running SSRS reports.
Basically, If the Request Management service is enabled, it manages all incoming requests by evaluating logic rules against the user requests in order to determine what\which action to take and which machine or machines (targets) in the farm should handle
    the request.
By default the Request time out value for Request Management service are as follows,
    RequestTimeout                    : 00:01:40
    RequestExecutionTimeout       : 01:00:00
So the error throws from RM service for those reports who take more than 1 minute to generate the report.
To solve this issue, we can stop the Request Management service.
    Or increase the time out
value by making use of following PowerShell  script.
    $waUrl = "URLofWEbApp"
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication $waUrl
    $rmSettings = $wa | Get-SPRequestManagementSettings
    $req=$wa.RequestManagementSettings
    $timeout2= New-TimeSpan -minutes 5
    Sreq.Requesttimeout=$timeout2
    $req.update()

  • Error while opening Excel report using servlet

    Hi
I am using a servlet to open an excel report which has multiple sheets . But there is a weird problem when i try to open an excel report with two sheets having the same name .
Generally when an excel with same sheet names is opened with Microsoft excel , it will open the excel file with a dialog showing error .
But when i am trying to open through a servlet after that open/save dialog box comes , its sending two requests and that too the second one from another browser . How i am saying that its sending from another browser is , during the second time its not passing the session checks which i placed .....I mean the session for the request doesn't have any data while it was expected to have some data which i placed in Session while logging in .
Can any one let me know why this is happening ?/

Plz kindly suggest me any solution.
    Regards
    Meenakshi

    Hi Meenakshi,
Please check following step in customization:
Use T code DC 30: go to work station application (1st tab) if you have already done with Excel then just check with following entries or make new entries as follows:
    1) WS appliction : XLS (Name with your choice)
    2) Archive identification : *
    3) File suffix for appl : XLS
    4)file format : *.xls,.xlsx*
Please note .xlsx is for new version i.e ms office 2007
    5) MIME  type: application/msexcel
Make check (tick mark) on start authorization, additional file and content version.  and  save.
In 2nd tab  i.e. Define work station application in network-> New entries
    w/s application: XLS
Data carrir type : PC (this to be done in DC 20)
    application type: 1(display) 2 (edit)
    Path  with prog. name: %SAP-OFFICE-INTEGRATION.INPLACE%
For display %SAP-OFFICE-INTEGRATION.INPLACE%   and  for edit %SAP-OFFICE-INTEGRATION.OUTPLACE% ,  save. Now go to  CV01n create DIR save. In CV02n i.e change mode attached the excel doc check in file save and try to open.
Hope this will solve your problem.
