Power / Wall adapter may have screwed my Itouch 64gb..HELP!!

Hello all!
I just bought an iTouch 64gb..and last night I thought I´d charge it using a power adapter, plugging it to the wall...after 5 seconds I noticed it wasn´t charging, so I unplugged it, but then the sad news : it died..It just didnt turn on..then I thought : usb cable and PC...nope...it just didn´t wake up...I tried to reboot it holding the home and the top button...it didn´t work...CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME!?!?! I´M DESPERATE

This is easily remedied, if you have a little extra time.
First, make sure your Touch is fully charged; you can do this with an Apple compliant or branded charger, or until it recharges after a sync. (Leaving the adapter in overnight can actually leech charge from your Touch, so beware.) Next, just to make sure, press the power and circular button on your Touch until it resets.
If it doesn't reset, then I suggest you visit your local Apple Store (if you're near one). Explain the situation to the guys at the Genius Bar, and if your unit is defective, they'll likely replace it with a new one on the spot - or maybe by mail if your model isn't in stock.

    Hi jamesxio,
Do you still have the Pictures folder in your home folder? If not, create a new folder in your home folder and name it Pictures. Make sure the iPhoto Library folder is in the Pictures folder.
Now launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed until you get a message screen. Choose to open another library and navigate to and highlight the iPhoto Library folder. Click the Open button.
You didn't move anything around or rename anything in the iPhoto Library folder in the finder, did you?

  • I may have screwed up....

In moving from OS9, assuming that my "housekeeping" strategies would work on Tiger, I may have done two things that could cause me problems...
I have long partitioned my hard drive, one for all my data (easy to find, organized by MY filing scheme, regardless of app), the other for System ƒ, applications, utilities, etc. This also makes backups easier, dragging my data drive contents to CD, then dragging email and bookmarks to another CD.
Well, this works, but perhaps OSX automatically dumps all user-created files to the "Documents" folder? If so, I've limited myself with arbitrary partition sizes for nothing! ;-(
I'm using a SMALL portion of each partition at this time. Other than backing up my data, if I delete the partition, will I run into other problems? (Grrrr.....)
Next question: I'm using a number of older applications (run in "Classic"), and figured they ought to be in a separate applications folder from OSX apps. I now have 3 apps folders (Applications, Applications ƒ, and Apps ƒ [OS9]). I'm not sure how there are 3, but I've noticed that when I try to open a document, the system can't seem to find the right application.
Have I caused a problem, and how do I rectify it?
I have other problems I'm researching on Eudora Forums, with Adobe, and have been recommended a good, simple OSX Tiger book.... Hopefully, I can be up and productive on my 'new' iBook someday soon.... (At least as productive as BEFORE I changed Macs and OS.)
    Thanks!

I have long partitioned my hard drive, one for all my data (easy to find, organized by MY filing scheme, regardless of app), the other for System ƒ, applications, utilities, etc. This also makes backups easier, dragging my data drive contents to CD, then dragging email and bookmarks to another CD.
OSX itself needs a lot of room because it is constantly writing temporary files. For example on my computer OSX is regularly using about 6 GB for these files. Moreover it really needs at least double that in free space on my computer in order to run fast because if it gets crowded it has to hunt around for where to put files. Bottom line, if I am getting below 20GB free space I start thinking about moving files off. What this is saying to you is you have to start thinking in larger terms than a CD or even a DVD.
With OSX there isn't really any reason to partition and partitioning (as you are finding) can be restrictive. The only partitions I have are on my external 250 GB drive so that each matches the size of my two 120GB internal drives for backup purposes.
Well, this works, but perhaps OSX automatically dumps all user-created files to the "Documents" folder?
That's the default location for many applications to save files, but you can of course save them almost wherever you like (can't get them into a different account directly).
I'm using a SMALL portion of each partition at this time. Other than backing up my data, if I delete the partition, will I run into other problems?
    No, the contrary.
You really should get an external Firewire drive for doing backups. Make this at least as large as the internal drive you are using. Get a Firewire drive so you can boot your computer from it if necessary. You're going to find this is cheaper (in the long run), faster and easier than using CDs. You've probably noticed you can't even back up the OS on a CD now. You can use a technique called cloning to copy and update your whole drive in one go, and should your internal fail ("when", not "should") you can clone back to a new drive easily.
That isn't so much to do with your various folders. I have all my OS9 apps on a different drive even. OSX needs a bit more training than OS9 in learning how to open new file types, and it helps to keep file extensions (I have mine displayed by default, a habit from my DOS days 20 years ago that I kept all the way through OS6 to the present). Find a file of the type of a general category for an application. Highlight the file, then use the Finder "get info" to get a display of the file details. Near the bottom is an option to select the application with which to open the file. If the application isn't in the general list you can select "other" and go find it. If you want to open all files of that general kind with this application click the "open all of this type" button.

  • I may have screwed myself...

I have an iphone 3gs -- recently it started dropping the charge, I'd pull it off the charger 100% and then a couple hours later its in the red zone.
So I thought it was a bad battery, so I ordered a new one, to do it myself. I also replaced my cracked screen while I was at it. Well, in the process
I broke my LCD -- apparently they are very delicate -- so I have a new one on the way. I charged up the phone so it would be ready to test when
the LCD is replaced, it only took about an hour, it said 100%, I left, came back (Still plugged in) and it was in the red zone.
    Any ideas?

Well the new battery is bad or incompatible with your iPhone 3GS. Or the Power Management System, something from the Dock Port to theLogic Board to the Battery is faulty.
Make appointment with Apple Genius, take iPhone to Apple Store they have a "battery test system" it is a free service, takes several minutes. See what they think.

  • May have a virus...help please

So I pay WoW and pretty much like 5 minutes ago i was hacked...i remember accidently going to a weird website and a pop up came up and i knew it wasnt good so i backed out...anyways, im fairly new to macs and i heard that macs rarely if ever get a a virus and im curious to how to check for a virus or how to scan or anything like that...sorry if this doesnt help but if you can help i would love you long time.

A pop-up is not a virus but it may be an internet scam. You might try staying away from "weird website(s)" in the future.
You can suppress some pop-ups in your browser by using the pop-up blocker feature. For Safari it's in the Safari menu.

  • HT1119 BATTERY IS DISPLAYING (NOT CHARGING) -What to do if your Mac Book Pro 13" even if it is on the power source adapter. I have dim all the lights and other energy saver as instructed. Any advice please .

Hi- My Macbook pro 13" is not charging and displaying the ( not charging ) sign evenif it is in the power source & adapter. Have tried all the dim all display lights and close unsed applications ( except not too sure about the close running applications)
    Please help ?

Does the light come on in the power connector that connects to the Mac? If not then it is not getting any power. That light is either Green or Amber. Green for fully (and or Almost Fully) charged and Amber when the system is charging the battery. No light means the AC adapter is either not getting any power from the Wall Outlet or the AC adapter or the Mac is broken. In either of the last 2, broken AC adapter or broken Mac, you can replace the AC adapter yourself but if it's the Mac then only Apple can fix that.
Not much troubleshooting to do. You either don't have power to the AC adapter or the AC adapter is broken or the Mac is broken. It is one of those 3 things.

  • I may have downloaded corrupt files, what should I do?

I downloaded Bitdefender ant virus software.   I click on the first button "search critical location."  I deleted the app but am not sure it has left.  I was freeing up memory and a huge list of files started popping up.  When I downloaded this program my main browser was chrome but it came directly from APP Store. I went back at it again today to see if the files were stille popping up.  It's hard to notice with all the numbers.   I don't want to sink into a windows base scam.   How can I tell  If my computer is corrupted.  I have heard and read bad reviews.  I just dont want my computer to be like thank
Thanks for any help because I think I may have screwed up

BitDefender itself is not classed as malware but, like the majority of anti-virus software, you simply do not need it on a Mac.
Did you delete it before or after you installed it? If you deleted the downloaded file before installation, job done. If not post back.

  • How to fix the download arrow. Won't show me recent downloads even though I would have downloaded a file. Help please.

I recently downloaded a zip file and when I unzipped the file my arrow stopped showing me recent downloads. It will show the effect of me clicking but won't show any files that I may have recently downloaded. Please help as this is the fastest way for me to do my schooling and work when I am given documents.

If the list attached to the arrow is cleared, does the link "Show All Downloads" appear and let you view the earlier downloads? The keyboard shortcut for that is Ctrl+j if you are a keyboard person.

+You may have already done this, but do you have the first AirPort Express configured to "Allow this network to be extended"?+
Could not find that setting anywhere.
It's in AirPort Utility, AirPort panel, Wireless tab.
When I'm within the range of the base station I connect normally, but further away the connection drops despite the fact that the other Airport is very close and light is green. Interestingly, my PB Pro has signal almost everywhere in the house, but my iPhone and Mac Mini don't. Most likely just a hardware difference?
In AirPort Utility with the second Express, in the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, have you checked "Allow wireless clients"?
The second AP does show an IP address: 10.0.1.3.
With a "Configure IPv4" setting of "Using DHCP", that suggests that the second Express really is connecting to the first Express. In that case I have no other explanation of your your problem.

  • How may I get my Ipad 2 to power on? I have tried the two button approach and it did not work.

My Ipad 2 will not power on. I have tried the two button approach but it did not work. Until last evening, the Ipad was working very well. After it entered the sleep mode, it would not come back on. What can I do?

The first thing to suspect is a completely drained battery. When this happens the iPad shuts down and will not turn on. Even if you charge the iPad it may take more than 30 minutes before it responds. Plug the iPad into the charger that came with it and plug the charger into a known good wall outlet. Do not charge the iPad by connecting it to a computer. Wait 30 minutes. Then reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the iPad does not restart consider making an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

There is no way to see where he has been.
Go into Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari and turn it off. Then add the MacGruff browser from the app store. After that go back to Restrictions and turn off the ability to add apps.

I can not join the my home WIFI network. I have iPhone and iTouch connected as well as my windows laptop. I have trie power on rese, and network reset. What do I do next?

This is something else you can try.
Go to Settings>WiFi>Your Network Name (tap the blue arrow)>Forget this Network. Reboot your iPad, hold down on the sleep button at the top for a couple of seconds until the red slider appears, slide to shut down. Then press the sleep button again until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button and the iPad will restart. Try to join your network again.

  • Which power adapter should have come with my 15" Macbook?

I got a 15" Macbook Pro at Christmas this year and I just looked at my power adapter and saw that it's a 60W, although I thought it should have been an 85W one. My computer does charge when I'm using (and rather quickly too, I might add), but I was just kind of wanting some clarification on this. I'm looking to buy a second power adapter to have one at my house and one at my boyfriend's house. He currently is using a 13" black Macbook (circa 2006, I believe), but is looking to get a 15" Macbook Pro in the future.
Anyway, I'm just wondering what power adapter I need to purchase, and check that I was indeed given the correct charger to begin with. I don't know how to find my model number, but it was the cheapest of the 15" models at the time. Thanks for your help!

Eh, not quite: You can use any Intel MB with any Magsafe adapter, but the use of it will vary.
I use my 17" mid-2010 i7 MBP with a 60W adapter from time to time if it's the one in a convenient place, I've even used it with the 45W only Airline adapter. Note the MacBook's power system is quite smart. If the system is on and active and it needs to restrict the power drawn, charging the battery will be the first to go, and then external power will be supplemented by battery power. So with a 15" or 17" MBP: on an 85W adapter you can play a 3D game and charge at the same time. Whee! Charge time is lessened if you draw less power and minimized if you power off the system and only use the available power to recharge. On a 60W it's possible to draw enough power using the system that charging will take an impractical amount of time. Power the system off and it'll recharge almost as fast as the 85W. With a 45W or airline adapter it won't recharge at all, and if the system is pretty busy, power will be draining from the battery too, albeit at a slower rate than if you were on battery only.
Think of the MacBook's power system as a water tank with an inlet hose and a drain hose. Inlet hoses come in three sizes, if your inlet is larger than your outlet you can fill the tank (recharge) at different rates depending on the drain (Air, 13", 15", 17" and how busy). The only exception where the analogy breaks down is if your drain is not the smallest (Air) and you use the smallest inlet (45W adapter), you can't fill the tank even if the drain is closed (MB is off).
If you want the other gory technical detail, only the 85W Apple adapter can switch up the 16v to 18v to allow for a faster recharge on the 15" and 17" MBP.
Probably more than you wanted to know...
Bottom Line: If you want to be able to charge any MagSafe MacBook, get an 85W adapter, Apple charges the same for the 60W as the 85W, and the 85W is only a little larger these days. (3rd party Magsafe adapters, not so much, the 60W's are usually a few bucks less.) 85W is what you'll find at the training tables in an Apple store BTW.
Don't bother with the $50 airline adapter if you don't own an Air. There are several 3rd party Auto/Air MagSafe adapters that will charge a 13" -17" MBP in the air or on the road.
