Powerbook didn't ship with SVideo to compiosite adapter wire

Hello everyone, sorry if off-topic, but I recieved my Powerbook over 3 months ago, and it shipped without the S Video to composite adapter plug. Will Applecare take action to mail me another one if I state that it was not in the box, and will they ship me another? What kind of proof do I need to give them to ship me another plug? Thanks, I found it unacceptable that my computer did not ship with this plug. Thanks,
David

Ok, so after noticing the thread, http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68b7d041, Ricktoronto, you say that the adapters are only a few dollars? Hmmm, my local Radio Shack's adapter is $22. Do you remember any specific model of the wire that you know you bought from radio shack? Toronto must have a different inventory then in Philadelphia here, I was astounded at the price when I went to RS. Here is the page.
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=15-1238
Is there another way to get this? If I did not recieve this plug when it shipped with my PB, why should I have to pay? Applecare should support enough to ship me one. Anyone still know of a S Video to composide video adapter for under $10 anywhere? Thanks
David

  • New iTouch didn't come with iPod touch 0S 3!!

I bought a new 16GB iPod touch at the end of July, but for some reason it didn't ship with the third version of the iPhone and iPod touch operating system. Instead it came with the second version. Surely I am entitled to download the new software free of charge??
Any help would be much appreciated . . .

OS 3.0 is sold separately as noted at the bottom of the iPod touch Software Update page:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/softwareupdate.html
Apple have not yet announced any iPod touches that ship with v3.0 pre-installed, which is why all the product pages for the iPod touch on the Apple web-site, only list features in v2.0
    http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/
In the last 4 or 5 years new iPod models have been released in September.
1st generation iPod touch were shipped with OS v1.0
2nd generation iPod touch are shipped with OS v2.0
3rd generation iPod touches and ones that ship with OS v3.0 have not been announced.

If it originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, click here, phone Apple, and order a replacement.
If it originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart it with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

  • New Imac shipped with 10.8.4

Just received a new custom built iMac opened the box and it booted into 10.8.4 with the old iLife apps. Over 10Gb of updates on a limited LTE connection just to get it to the condition in which it should have shipped. I just called Apple to return it and they seemed shocked that I didn't want to waste 1/4 of my my monthly data allowence on their mistakes. I told them it said on the store page it shipped with Mavericks and the new iLife apps so I didn't get what I paid for.
    Back to waiting.....

Apple must think everyones is on a Fibre connection with unlimited data.
    They do.
<rant>That's why they developed this abysmal delivery system and dropped SuperDrives from the machines. They want everyone on the cloud and hang the expense to their users. They purport to be a green company, but insist that their users waste resources (time, bandwidth, and electricity), continuously DLing stuff, especially the OS, w/o advising their users to maintain copies of the installers, since they coded the installers to blow themselves away during installation.</rant>

  • When did Snow Leopard start shipping with the 15" Macbook Pros?

I got a 15" Macbook Pro at Christmas (purchased just a few weeks before, straight from apple.com, not refurbished or anything), only to realize it didn't have Snow Leopard on it, just Leopard. I have version 10.5.8 right now, and I think that's what it came with, I don't believe I had updated it. I was reading this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11294485&#11294485 and was just kind of curious about it all. Should I have gotten Snow Leopard with my laptop?
I don't know how to find my model number. If anyone can tell me I would gladly update my information.

Glad you still have the box, ellory!
We've seen some users here who have simply thrown the discs out with the packaging!
The discs themselves can be worth their weight in gold (especially the grey ones that normally ship with the computer). Many people don't realise that they will need them if they ever want to restore not just the OS, but the additional software that came with their computer, and to run the Apple Hardware Test for their specific model.
Many more knowledgeable buyers of second hand Macs , in fact, won't buy one that is sold without these discs unless the seller is prepared to knock a couple of hundred dollars off the price for the inconvenience and cost of having to obtain replacements.
When you find them, stick them in a very safe place!
If it came with a snow leopard "drop in" then it will be in a separate illustrated Snow Leopard cardboard sleeve. The grey discs will probably be in a black cardboard folder. It is quite possible that these will actually have snow leopard on them, even if Leopard was pre-installed and you don't have a separate "slip in", given the date of purchase.

  • Are refurbs now shipping with Leopard installed?

I sent my brother a refurb iMac for the holidays. He hasn't set it up yet (they did the free overnight shipping, I didn't even expect him to get it yet!) but he said the box, which appeared slightly damaged in transit (one side was opened), only came with the 2 start up disks- no Leopard upgrade disk.
Does anyone know if the refurbs are now shipping with Leopard preinstalled? I ordered this on 12/18, so it's what I'm thinking- otherwise, I'm concerned that the disk may have either fallen out/been taken out. . .
Thanks. (no, he hasn't turned it on yet- I asked him to, but I think he's afraid of it, and is waiting for Tuesday when folks will be able to help him get it set up!)

I had a refurb mini delivered a month ago and it included the "upgrade" Leopard DVD

  • Mini DVI to VGA incorrectly shipped with MBP instead of DVI to VGA

Has anyone else had a mini DVI to VGA adapter shipped with their macbook pro (2008) instead of a DVI to VGA adapter? I just needed to use it today and was told at the apple store that I had an adapter included with the computer. I went home to check and the adapter that was with the computer was a mini DVI to VGA adapter and the computer has a regular DVI output. I understand that later in 2008 the mac book pros were made with the mini DVI so I am thinking that there may have been a packaging error.......unusual for Apple???

    Hi Tingrin,
Most likely an error when the machine was packaged for distribution. The MacBook Pro has never shipped with Mini DVI, it was a dual link DVI port until they went to Mini DisplayPort. The MacBook, however featured the Mini DVI.
I know Apple has ceased to ship the adapters with the MacBook Pro, to my knowledge they did around the time of the mid/late 2008 machines. I know with the first couple of generations (MBP) you actually got both a DVI and VGA adapter.
I'd contact Apple, inform of the discrepancy and I'm sure they'll make it right.

  • What memory modules does the HP G60-441US Notebook (3GB) ship with?

I have 3 of these laptops and want to upgrade to 4 GB. I am thinking it must be a 1GB and a 2GB module. I can't find the specific information in any of the manuals. Does any one know the specs? Thanks in advance for your comments.

I concur that the unit ships with a 1Gb and a 2GB module. When sellecting your replacement ram, be sure to choose the 800Mhz units (DDR2-6400). HP Partsurfer identifies your mainboard as a GM45 chipset, which will will have reduced graphics performance if you use 667Mhz modules with a 800Mhz processor. (500Mhz render clock vs. 533Mhz.)
The installed modules should have the speed rating printed upon them, so it should be simple enough to match your existing 2Gb module to obtain 4GB.
    Hope this helps.

  • Snow leopard on macbook pro shipped with lion

A question from Sweden: Can you install SL 10.6 on a macbook pro that shipped with Lion?

your going to need another Mac that can boot off the disks, then T boot off the target Mac first so it's FireWire Target Disk Mode, then connect a Firewire cable then hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, erase the factory Lion machine completely and install OS X 10.6
The firmware will not you boot from earlier OS X install disks on a factory Lion box. You have to work around it to get it on the drive, but once it's there it will be fine.
I just did this, and did not have to Target boot at all. The machine booted right up off the replica 10.6.7 DVD, and was perfectly happy to install 10.6 right over 10.7 without erasing anything. No wacky side effects except a few settings had to be set again where Lion's settings were too different.
If you only have the "Full Retail" 10.6.3 disc, then you WILL have to use another older Mac as intermediary, since the 2011 MacBook Pro needs at least 10.6.6 to boot.
Mine was a refururb, and because it has originally been sold with 10.6, there WAS a 10.6 disc they could copy and send me. They muttered about "ranges of serial numbers". The "first responders" do not know these are available, so you have to be firm, but polite. The answer for your specific Mac may still be no. By year-end, the answer will always be NO.

  • Two phones ordered, only one shipped. The iPhone 6 has shipped with tracking number and charge to my card. iPhone 6 Plus has no information available, no one at CS can tell me if this is normal, if it is delayed, any info appreciated.

I placed an upgrade order for two phones, an iPhone 6 and 6plus.
I was in the Verizon shopping cart at 11:55 and checked out by 12:01 AM pacific time.
I do have my email confirmation for both phones with ship date 9/19
The iPhone 6 has shipped with tracking number and the charge to my card came through for the price of this phone.
There is no other information available - nothing on the status of the 6 Plus. Customer service doesn't know if this is normal or if my order went through, its really bad.
Any further information would be much appreciated.

I was just told by a Verizon sales rep that, when her team got in, when she checked the system at 3:03 (midnight+ 3 minutes)  all 6Plus had a back order date of October, and now its going into November even though the pre-order system was showing 9/19 - that all verizon iphone 6 plus had an instant sell out.
She had no additional information on my iPhone 6 plus, not even if there was a chance for it to ship out, when the back order date would be - no further information.
(A different rep I talked to said all iphone 6 plus pre orders had a ship date of October, all of them - I asked what Verizon is going to do when they advertised iphone 6 plus for 9/19 delivery and your telling me they never had any available - at this point he transferred me... *****)

  • How do I change the apple id on the copy of Lion that shipped with my Macbook Pro?

I've inherited a Macbook Pro that shipped with Lion installed. The app store is showing three updates for iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie. When I try to update them it request the password for the Apple ID for the person who set up the Macbook. These apps came with Lion which came with the Macbook. I could reload the OS but that would wipe out my configuration. How can I change the Apple ID to reflect me as the new owner so I can update the apps included with Lion? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you know the seller, then maybe it can be done; according to the licensing agreement, if you sell/gift a Mac which came with Lion preinstalled, you are allowed to make a one time transfer of your software license. That would involve a call to Apple (I've not had to do this, but I've read that you need to call Apple and explain that you wish to transfer the Lion license from xxxxx to xxxxxx - don't know if it involves name/address or any other info). So, if your seller is willing to do this, and Apple re-registers the MBP in your name, you shouldn't have to do anything. You may want to check into this because it also may play a role when there is an OS update - not sure that you'll be able to get that with your different Apple ID.

  • My new iMac is not shipping with Lion installed. Will I be able to do a Migration from my PC to my iMac without installing Lion first?

My new iMac is not shipping with Lion installed. Will I be able to do a Migration from my PC to my new iMac? I only want to transfer photos and my music, currently on my PC (and on my iPod Touch & iPad).
Can anyone give me a list of steps to follow or let me know if Migration Assistant is available prior to Lion for PC to Mac?
Thank you so so so much!
    -SweetDee

    SweetDee,
I'd be VERY surprised if your machine was not shipping with Lion installed. However even if it doesn't when you initally install Lion it will launch into Setup Assistant, if you follow the prompts it will ask if you are migrating from another machine. You can use Pondini's Lion Setup Assistant tips for help, look for the section(s) on MS Windows migration. Also I would strongly recommend bookmarking and studying the following sites:
    Switch 101
    Mac 101
    Find Out How Video tutorials
In closing remember you have 90 days of free telephone support with AppleCare. If you run into trouble they will be happy to assist or if you have an Apple Store in your area you can book an appointment with a Genius and they can usually help you out.

  • After updating iTunes to 11.0.1.12 and updating Apple TV to 5.1.1 my Apple TV is no longer picking up my photo library. It just keeps saying "loading library" but never brings the pictures up. This didn't happen with previous versions. Any ideas?

After updating iTunes to 11.0.1.12 and updating Apple TV to 5.1.1 my Apple TV is no longer picking up my photo library. It just keeps saying "loading library" but never brings the pictures up. It also tells me that home sharing isn't on even though it is and then I have to turn it off and on on the PC so the Apple TV even recognizes the photo library. These issues didn't happen with previous versions. Any ideas?

Update on my previous comment. I have solved my issue. Issue was with Windows 7 firewall not operating correctly. I was unable to add itunes to the 'Allow programs to communicate through windows firewall'. Found the following page useful http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/windows-fire wall-cant-change-some-of-your-settings/514d78fb-39e9-47b1-b561-bc49cbdad904
Followed the instructions to the foot of the page, restarted PC, normal service resumed on windows firewall, added itunes to list to communicate through firewall. restarted itunes, restarted appletv, success!!!
Hope this may help somone else.

It may work with the HP driver (which you will need to install on the PowerBook)
It may work with a third-party driver such as the HPIJS drivers or the Gimp-Print drivers, but this is not the case with all printers.
