Powerbook G3 Series production numbers

I am trying to guess how many Wallstreets, Lombards, Pismos were made. I found numbers in old Apple annual reports but they use a fiscal year reporting that does not sync with product launch dates so it is hard to calculate this way. I also heard the Lombard 400 is the lowest production of them all. Another site from way back said only several hundred thousand each. Does anyone have any sources for this information?

You could go here
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/3682/applehistory.html
and scroll down to the bottom and contact some of the people there.
I am sure someone would be able to give you the info or at least point you in the right direction.

How do I go about getting the product serial number to register my product as well as install my product.  I bought it with a product box.  On the software disc sleeve, there is a series of numbers pasted at the bottom of the sleeves but this is not valid.  When I tried to type this in for registration, it does register as this numbers also contain letters in it.  Apparently the registration boxes accept numbers only.  What do I do with a useless product for which I have paid good money for it?????

This is the simple solution which was offered to me when I tried to get the serial code on line.
The box and disc sleeve do not contain a series with 24 numbers which I presume is the product code to install.
I tried to redeem the registration code by following what they recommended, but inevitably it gets to the page that showed the registration boxes that need 24 serial numbers and I got stuck again.
This product is so different what my previous experiences of other software products where I just enter the serial number straight from the disc sleeve and then I got registered and go on to use the software.
I is really frustrating, spending the last two hours trying to get my product going....

  • Powerbook G3 series 8.6 to 9.2.2 upgrade

    Hi,
I just joined the discussions (today) so pardon my "novice" level - in advance.
    Background:
    =========
I have a Powerbook G3 series (bought in 1999) 333Mhz, 256Mb RAM and 4GB HD. It is running OS 8.6 (came with it).
I know that this is a "dinosaur" but remarkably it has "worked fine" (see further below).
I would like to keep it and "make it more useful" as I contemplate a newer MAC purchase.
So, I would like to upgrade from 8.6 to 9.2.2.
I checked in Apple's "Mac OS 8 and 9 compatibility with Macintosh
Computers" table and it shows that the G3 series can go up to 9.2.2
I considered OSX V10.4 but this G3 is not a "built-in Firewire" and also does not have sufficient RAM and HD for OSX (as I was able to surmise upon further research). Also it appears that even if earlier OS X versions were compatible they might run too slow on such an old machine.
    Specific Questions:
    ==============
I wanted to get educated on the "8.6 to 9.2.2" upgrade for any tips and warning so I searched the discussions topics re: such an upgrade and found very useful information from the various Q&As.
After absorbing all of the relevant discussions, I still have the following questions:
    1) It was suggested in one of the threads that "....a firmware update would be required before installing OS9..."
Would I need this for my G3 ? If so where would I obtain a copy ?
    2) It appears that to get to 9.2.2, I would have to do the following:
    a) do the firmware upgrade as per answer from 1) above.
    b) get a retail OS9 (white with gold 9) from one of the suggested sites
    and do the install
    c) download the 9 to 9.2.2 upgrade from one of the suggested sites
and do the 9 to 9.2.2 upgrade
I am not restating the suggested site names here.
Are the above steps a) to c) correct ?
    3) Is there any reason or "gotcha" to not upgrade from 8.6 to 9.2.2 ?
    4) Would it make sense to consider some earlier version of OS X vs 9.2.2 ?
Surprisingly and remarkably, my G3 has been working fine for the "most part" but I continue to run into snags when I want to upgrade Apps or when browsing certain sites or wanting to use later peripherals, e.g., flash disks.
For example when I switched to Gmail - it does not show all the features and suggests later browsers which all require 9.x or higher. Gmail does work for older browsers but with limited features.
Also, I am stuck with IE 5.1 (for Macs) and Netscape 6.x and can't use others, e.g., Mozilla.
I am hoping that with 9.2.2 (or some version of OS X) I will be able to bring this G3 to a much more usable level without much $$ expense.
Any help on my questions would be greatly appreciated.
I hope my question information is not overly long.
    Thank You.

    macd-sm,
There are 6 updates (7 if you have an iPod what can be used with OS9) that can be applied after OS9.2.2 update has been applied.
CarbonLib v1.6 - extremely useful for your system, read all about it and download it here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120047
AppleScript v1.8.3 - again, useful for your use of OS9.2.2, it's all here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120128
Authoring Support v1.1.9 - useful if you plan to burn CD on a supported replacement internal drive (that burns CD's) or a supported external drive, using iTunes or the Disc Burner in the Finder. It replaces Authoring Support v1.1.3 that was installed with OS9.2.2, so it's not going to break anything installing it. It's here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120083
QuickTime v6.0.3 - It's up to you if you want to upgrade to QuickTime v6, or stick with v5 (that is installed with OS9.2). I keep an OS9.2.2 system as a retro system, for once in a while to run older software. As such I don't need the latest QuickTime for web surfing, so I stuck with v5, but you may want to use v6. It's here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime603formac.html
Mac OS Runtime for Java 2.2.6: Pretty much essential if you're going to be using the web: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120209
iTunes v2.0.4: This is the latest version of iTunes for OS9. It was a bit of pig to find this download page, so download it and keep it, even if you decide not to install it straight away: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120073
I can only add to a possible source of OS9.2.1 retail CD's, eBay. Make sure you get a good clear picture of the OS9 install CD, along with any other software they may be selling with it. All the usual "caveat emptor" warnings about eBay apply. I've never bought this CD from eBay - ironically I gave mine away with the PowerBook.
Maybe just another little note about the upgrade. You may find that some of your older apps, utils and games will cease to work under OS9. Maybe 90% of what I used, worked no problem. Then 90% of the rest worked after downloading a patch or two. I can only think of one or two very old games that stopped in OS9. If you have any "must-have" apps that you need to work in OS9, post details of them here and we'll do our best to let you know.

  • How to create a monthly series in numbers

I'm trying to create a monthly date series in numbers for iphone app. When I try to fill down A1:A2, it is presented as B1:B5. I want the column to show the  first day of each month. I can't find a function that accomplishes this.
    Header 1
    Header 2
    6/1/13
    6/1/13
    7/1/13
    7/1/13

    Hi DC,
You've asked in the community discussing Numbers for Mac OS X, so this response may not be applicable to Numbers for iOS. If not, you migth try reposting your question in the iWork for iOS community.
Here are two methods using formulas to ceate the date series you want:
Column B: Seed date is entered in B2.
Formula is entered in B3 and filled down to end of column.
    B3: =EOMONTH(B2,0)+1
Column C: Formula entered in C2 and filled down.
    C2: =DATE(2013,ROW()-1,1)
Note the warning triangles in the last three rows. These warn that the formula is receiving a number greater than 12 for the month argument to the DATE formula. It is a warning of an unusual situation, but not a red error alert as the formula continues to produce the cirrect result.
Italics formatting was applied manually to draw attention to these three cells. The blue triangle may be dismissed with two clicks, one to show the warning:
the other to tell Numbers to ignore the cause. This must be repeated for each cell showing this error.

I am doing that for product numbers ,
    LOOP AT IT_MATKEY INTO wa_matkey.
    len = strlen( wa_matkey-ext_matnr ).
    len = 40 - len.
    do len times.
    concatenate '0' wa_matkey-ext_matnr into wa_matkey-ext_matnr.
    enddo.
SELECT SINGLE matid FROM /sapapo/matkey INTO matguid WHERE matnr = wa_matkey-ext_matnr.
I am using this code in a user exit, it_matkey is the import paramter of the function module, when the products are CIFed they are stored in it_matkey.
Unless I am writing the above code for product IDs with numbers, select statement is not working. Is there any better way of doing that?

  • Listing product numbers and linking related pdf

I need to create a web page that just lists our product

I am building a new one and although I have our shopping cart 90%

we can take the other site down while I continue building the
proper remaining pages for our site. I can copy and paste my

You're right the copy and paste is easy, but I don't know how

which isn't difficult, just time consuming and mind numbing. I was
hoping for suggestions as to the easiest way to bring the data into
DW, whether it was copy and paste or to import a .csv or another
avenue that I'm not aware of. Additionally, if there's an easier

Because I'm new to DW (building my first website), I also
don't have the knowledge of the best way to set up that temporary
page. At this minute I merely created a blank HTML page and created
a table, then I imported a product .csv file to fill that table.
When I launched both Safari & FF, the products look fine in
their columns and rows along with the few PDF's that I linked.

  • Photoshop Elements 7.  Two product numbers? What's the difference?

I was looking to buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.
But it seems like there are two model/product numbers for Elements 7.
One is 65026616 and the other is 65026821.
The 65026616 is listed as Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 - Mini Box - Retail
The 65026821 is listed as Adobe Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 - Retail
Does anyone know what the difference between these two product number is other than one being a mini box?
I found these two versions on newegg. Amazon has the mini box product number.

IIRC, Adobe has two different packages...one for shipping that's smaller
and lighter and the other for store shelves that's bigger and harder to
    steal.

PowerBook G3 Series, 300MHz, 8 GB Hard drive, 64MB RAM   Mac OS 9.2.x

I guess you have a Wallstreet model, assuming it's a powerbook. You need a bigger hard drive for OSX in my opinion. 40 gig runs about $80. I have a 20 in my 333 Lombard. You would need to add a 256 memory chip $35. A wireless card for your PCM slot $50-60. A copy of The OS and you're done. That's $175 spent on a 7-8 year old laptop. I like my Lombard but not if was my only computer. So I guess it depends on what you are using it for. I cannot run Tiger 10.4 on my Lombard. It has no DVD drive. I am running Panther with 384 memory and it's ok. It really seems slow after I get up from the iMac G5 though. Most of these prices are at OWC..(macsales.com) YMMV
    Hope this helps some

  • Contraction of series of numbers

I'm sure I've seen this script somewhere in the forums, but I haven't managed to find it regardless of the search terms I use.
Basically I'm trying to contract a series of numbers into a span of numbers.
    For example:
         41, 42, 43, 44, 45
    will become:
         41-45
After that I will write a script to further reduce that to '41-5' as suitable for indexes.
Of course, this is more of a pure javascript problem than a pure InDesign problem since we are just dealing with a string, then converting to an array of numbers, then contraction. But I'm sure I found it here... anyway.
Any help with finding this script/thread is much appreciated.

Thank you for your prompt attention to my problem. The result should be an array of strings, rather than a number. As such, this is far from solved.
Anyone able to address the original problem of contracting spans of numbers?
I'm sure we've dealt with this before. My search terms are wanton.
In more detail: when finished with index generation in InDesign we often end up with a series of sequential numbers. The pure way to deal with this is to modify the index entires to deal with the relevant spans (via styles, page count, etc), but without the time (or client budget) I'm looking for a way to reduce a series of numbers into an array of number spans.
(Yes, I realise we are converting strings to numbers and then re-combining as strings, but I'm sure we've dealt with this before. Brain's trust, haven't we done this before?)

  • Power Solution for the 350 Series products

Because of distance constraints and the environment I run fiber and a 2 conductor copper wire to each of my access points' locations. The 2 conductor copper wire provides the low voltage DC which powers the access point. The AUI to Fiber transceiver was then powered through the AUI port on the access point. This worked great with the Aironet 4800 series products. I'm looking to deploy the 350 series products but I have not found a clean solution that will allow me to continue to deploy the access points in this manner. Has anyone found a solution or know of a company that has a product or solution. Basically I need a 48 Vdc Fiber to UTP transceiver / power injector, 48 Vdc Input - 48 Vdc Output on pins 4,5 (-) and 7.8 (+) RJ-45 Jacks, 10/100 Ethernet compatible.

What are your distances like? I've successfuly run 350s over crappy (I mean real crappy, full of splices, etc) old POTS-grade lines up to 440 feet. You might be able to get further with quality Cat 5, or better, cable. You might have to step down the speed and/or duplex of the Ethernet ports on both sides to get it to work. Between 440 and 500 feet, I can still show a link light, but can't pass layer 3 data, haven't tested further to find out why; could be attenutation on the wire, in which case maybe running larger gauge wire would help.

    iBook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Mary,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
You have the Powerbook G3 Series M4753 a.k.a. "Wallstreet". The PB 1400, 3400, any black G3, and clamshell iBook all use the same output adapter (45 watts) and the same size power port plug. I believe it was sometime during 2000>2001 time frame that Apple moved from the rectangular black adapter to the so-called yo-yo or saucer adapter; these are also 45 watt output. Then Apple moved to the slimmer powerbooks and iBooks which required a smaller power port plug.
The yo-yo adapters are suseptible to wire failures at the power port plug and also where the DC wire enters the saucer; I would avoid that adapter unless new.
I would perform a search on Google for 'Apple 45w power adapter'. You will not only get eBay hits, but also other sites that sell new and used replacements.
