Powerbook G4 battery wont fully charge

My computer has been plugged in for at least a week, and its not fully powered. It stops at 84 percent. and when i click show>time, it always says still calculating
help would be much appreciated

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
How many cycles do you have on your battery, and what is it's current capacity? If it doesn't show up in your system profiler under power, go to http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx and download a battery status program.
Lithium battery life is not measured by time, rather by the number of charge/discharge cycles. Apple says a properly maintained battery should retain 80% charge after 300 charge/discharge cycles. If you haven't already, this Apple article discusses battery maintenance: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
You might try resetting your power management unit (PMU) which may help, follow directions at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449

  • Battery Wont Fully Charge

My iPhone doesn't seem to reach fully charge ever. I left it charging all night and it still wasn't full. Today I've been charging it most of the afternoon and still, it wont ever get to fully charged. Anyone else have this problm/know what to do about it?

Ditto. My battery's been charhing off the wall for over 8 hours and there's still a sliver of "non-charge" on the big screen and the thunderbolt icon on the little battery icon on the top right. On top of this, the battery readings seem to decrease slowly until all of a sudden I get the "battery at 20%" warning. And this with *very light usage*. The battery life has been abysmal so far. Make two phone calls of a couple of minutes each and it drains the battery. Use the iPod for about 20-30 min. and it drains the battery. Even without using it at all the battery noticeably goes down every half hour or so.
Lastly, what may be a related problem...my iPhone says "No Wi-Fi" in Settings so I can't even turn the wi-fi on or off, it's like it wasn't there (though I remember configuring it and it running in my wireless LAN at home). Also in "About" there is no MAC address for the Wi-Fi radio.
Very frustrating...especially the battery life. Hope the line's not too long at the Apple store tomorrow, and I can get it replaced sometime this week....

  • MY Z10 BATTERY WONT FULLY CHARGED,STOPPED AT 89%

MY Z10 (BOUGHT ON MARCH 2013) DOESNT FULLY CHARGED.
No matter how long I charge it, it always stopped at 90% or 89%.
i've tried charging with phone off, leave it overnight, until the morning the yellow led light still blinking (if its fully charged, the led light will be green).
Anyone facing this issue as well?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try this 2-3 times, the next time you're charging the device... connected to the wall outlet charger, leave it charging and remove the battery a minute, reinsert and reboot. See if that resets the charge reading. Often the on-device software reading of the charge is offsync with the actual battery charge.

Try the old two stand-by's first:
    Reset PRAM, and;
    Reset SMC.
If that doesn't help, call back,

  • My four-month-old macbook pro's battery when fully charged is now down to 2 hours life from 7...in the last week. Why?

I bought my macbook pro 13" about four months ago and have been in love with it ever since - especially as compared to my old PC laptop, the battery stays cool and lasts forever when I am working. Best charge was 7 hours. However, in the last week I have noticed the battery suddenly becoming hot when I unplug the charger, and the best length of time I can get on a full charge is 2 hours.
I have made sure all the settings are for prolonged battery life - which they've been since I first set up - and turned off all programmes running in the background, but this has not made any difference. I have been using iMovie a lot lately which takes a lot of battery which is probably why I didn't notice the battery being low as it automatically seems to make the battery slump to 2 hours when it's on. It's off now, and my battery won't improve.
I have also now followed the instructions (below) about calibrating, but this has had no effect. My housemate bought the same model a month ahead of me, uses it probably slightly less, but his is still 7 hours for a charge.
    Is my battery faulty?
    Calibration instructions used:
PowerBook G4 (15-inchDouble-Layer SD), MacBook (all models), MacBook Pro (all models), and MacBookPro (17-inch) (all models)
Thebattery calibration for the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) and anymodel of MacBook or MacBook Pro has been updated because of a new batteryreleased with this computer. With these computers, follow these steps tocalibrate your battery:
Plug in the power adapter and     fully charge your PowerBook's battery until the light ring or LED on the     power adapter plug changes to green and the onscreen meter in the menu bar     indicates that the battery is fully charged.
Allow the battery to rest in the     fully charged state for at least two hours. You may use your computer     during this time as long as the adapter is plugged in.
Disconnect the power adapter while     the computer still on and start running the computer off battery power.     You may use your computer during this time. When your battery gets low,     the low battery warning dialog appears on the screen.
At this point, save your     work.  Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low,     the computer will automatically go to sleep.
Turn off the computer or allow it     to sleep for five hours or more.
Connect the power adapter and     leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.
Tip:When the battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleepmode. The battery actually keeps back a reserve beyond "empty", tomaintain the computer in sleep for a period of time. Once the battery is trulyexhausted, the computer is forced to shut down. At this point, with the safesleep function introduced in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD)computers, the computer's memory contents have been saved to the hard drive. When power is restored, the computer returns itself to its pre-sleep stateusing the safe sleep image on the hard drive.

  • Light around adapter is red when the battery is fully charged

The subject basically says it all. My battery is fully charged, it has been for a while, but the ring is red. Under the battery icon in the upper right is says calculating until full, but it also says 100%, clearly something is wrong. Any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

This sometimes happens when the actually battery status and what your PowerBook thinks you battery stus is gets a little out of sync. This is normal so don't worry too much about it. As long as you calibrate on a regular basis you'll be fine.

  • 4 days old MBP 13". First boot up showed charge of 100%, next boot up showed battery fully charged but the percentage read 98% in the subsequent boot ups the battery is fully charged but percentage reads 96%. Whats wrong??

I recently purchased a 13" MacBook Pro. On my first boot up, the battery charged to 100%. I didn't operate this thing on the battery. The next time I booted this thing up, the battery was charged but the meter read 98%. In the subequent boot ups of this machine, and I still having not used the battery, my battery is fully charged but the meter now reads 96%. IS there some problem with the hardware or the software? Help is appreciated!!
    Thanks.

hey thank you for the info. Based on what happened, the battery has gone up to 100% just once when I booted this machine for the first time. On subsequent occasions the Battery Charged symbol has appreard at below 100% charging. I have been using my MacBook Pro for the whole day with outlet power and never did the battery go back to 100%. I hope I don't have to calibrate the battery on this model?

Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! I already read some reviews and discussion about this. They said that the lightning bolt should pulsate when charging but it's not!

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...
