Powerbook G4 on 10.3.9 can I or should I upgrade OS?

Hi there, I recently inherited a 17" aluminum powerbook G4 which has 2Gb RAM, 1.3Ghz PowerPC CPU. The machine has OSX version 10.3.9
I am finding that the safari browser won't load a lot of web pages so managed to download an alternative browser 1.6.10 which works beter, I also managed to install flash 9.
My question is I get the feeling that upgrading the OS might make the computer a bit more useful/compatible with web browsing generally. The trouble is I'm a bit of a Mac newbie so don't know how to go about it. The Apple store seems to only sell versions of the OS which are Intel compatible only. Is upgrading to 10.4.x a good idea and if so how would I go about it?

Upgrading to 10.4 or 10.5 (Tiger or Leopard) would enable you to use more up-to-date browsers that are better able to cope with modern web sites. You would do so by buying a new or used retail Tiger or Leopard installer DVD. Do not buy any DVD whose label mentions any particular Mac model: such a disc will be specific to that model, and it won't work on yours. Unfortunately, new retail Tiger and Leopard installer discs can only be purchased from third-party sellers at whatever prices they think the market will bear. They tend to be outlandishly expensive: more so than when they were the current OS versions. Try Ebay and your area craigslist.com for used copies, but make sure you are getting a retail installer, not a model-specific or upgrade disc.

Nope, your older G5 iMacs do not have an upgradeable Ethernet port. They support 10/100 BaseT Ethernet.
Of course the question that comes to mind, is there any reason, other then your infrastructure supporting 1000 BaseT that you need the capabilities?

I can't find a dv5-1198de but I did find a dv5-1198er which should be similiar. It states up to 8 gb of ram. HERE
I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.

Has Spotlight finished its indexing? Check in the upper right. If you get just the search field, it has, if it says its indexing, you have to wait before you can use anything.

I was trying to take my Mac air to factory default settings.
I've done all that it says in the documment i was following, and them during the process it asked me the APPLE ID.
I put the apple id i have in my iphone. But it's not the one... it's said that i don't have any OSX associated with it... so it can not install the OSX.
So what can i do?

Old pictures can not display after Itunes upgrade

Earlier today I updated to the newest version of Itunes. I also added some new pictures to my synched directory for pictures (this directory has approx 725 pics that were all on my phone prior to this update of Itunes).
When I synched to add the new pictures I got a message saying "some pictures could not be synched because they can not be displayed on the phone". Only 200+ of the pictures were transfered and the rest are not there.
Again all of these pictures were on teh phone before so I am not sure why they can not be displayed now. I have tried re-synching and that did not help.
Any thoughts?

I am also having this problem. I have a 160gb classic that I bought last fall. I have a work computer I've used for my iTunes synch base due to broadband access. The system had worked well enough with 64 bit XP and a few registration tweaks to calm itunes about working in that old environment. Forward to 2 weeks ago - I copy my library to the network drive so that IT can scrub the computer and upgrade me to Win 7. Computer is back up, install the newest version if iTunes, seems to come up fine. Several rounds of re-importing the library after it kept entering all the songs twice. Go to re-synch the ipod - get the 'this is a new device, erase *EVERYTHING* and re-synch. Yep yep. Sits there for nearly two hours saying it's re-uploading stuff. Then on the way home, I see - hey, a ton of stuff isn't there, lots of missing podcasts. Go check, everything is checked, new stuff downloaded, can listen to it on the PC with headphones. Then go synch the iPod - get the same 'things are updating..... synch finished'. And nothing has up- or down-loaded. Tried unchecking stuff, nada. Import new stuff, nada. Nothing Plus it looks like pretty much every CD i ripped into itunes for the past 4-5 months failed to move - maybe iTunes was saving it somewhere else than the My Music folder. PITA-factor of that aside, I'd really like to get at the last 3-4 weeks of podcasts. Any help on getting the system to actually do a real sy
My other changes in the last few weeks are getting a new iPhone to replace an old non-iPhone, so there is another devicee on the account. I don't see my iPod listed amongst my devices in the iTunes store - not sure if that's only for wireless stuff.

If you upgraded the modem......but you have not reset the printer back to its original default settings and then set it up again......now would be a good time to do this.
The printer still has the programmed settings to connect to your old modem, and it cannot find it, because it is no longer there. The printer is lost, and does not know how to find its way. It needs to be set up again with new settings to match your new modem.

In general, if you installed any third party anti-virus utilities, get rid of them. They can cause problems like this.
There is no need to post your question multiple times. If you don't get an answer right away give it some time, a few hours at least, and please deselect your caps lock key. This will increase the likelihood of receiving competent assistance.

The Apple Store does not show does not contain purchase information of the old unused Final Cut Express. What can I do to register Final Cut Express 2 will not operate in the current OS systems on my iMac. It only is compatible with the G3 or G5.
