PowerBook G4 probably needs new battery and power jack. Worth the repair?
I have a PowerBook G4 that is about 4.5 years old, with a 1.33 GHz Processor, 512 MB RAM, and a 60 GB HD. I got a new MacBook Pro recently, so I'm trying to sell this old PowerBook, but there are a couple problems with it.
One is that it still has the battery the computer came with, so it's safe to say that it's dead. Another problem is that there's a minor dent on the side by the power jack that makes the interface a bit fussy. Sometimes it needs to be fiddled with to contact correctly. So, in addition to a new battery, the external casing (and/or the DC-in) may need to be repaired, and I know doing so is few hundred dollars. Is it worth it for this computer? It's going on 5 years old, so I'm wondering if other things (like the hard drive), are going to fail soon.

Looking at ebay, there are two Powerbook 1.33Ghz models with bids between $185 and $249. If you're looking to sell it, and the hard drive is operating fine now, it's longevity shouldn't be a concern. That said, notebook hard drives do seem to have a higher failure rate the 3-5 year range than desktop drives.
Replacing the lower case, DC-in card, and new battery can run you around $450. You'd almost be better off taking it to Apple, to see if they'd send it to the Apple depot for around $325 to repair the DC-in problem. (I just sent one to the Apple depot for a logic board replacement, and they replaced the battery, too). Even so, you might have difficulty recouping that in a sale.
It does have Leopard, which may help the price you might get when you sell it.

The burner is a different story. Sometimes it will read discs other times it won't read at all, so I'm thinking it's on its way out. Can someone supply correct part numbers? Do you need the current part numbers of the parts that I have?

if you have a 14.1" 4:3 standard screen or 15.4" T61, you will need the T60 type battery now commonly referred to as battery 41+ 6-cell or 41++ 9-cell by Lenovo marketing. If you have a 14.1" widescreen T61, you will need battery 33 4-cell, 33+ 6-cell or 33++ 9-cell.

New Battery and PowerPack NOT WORKING!
Ok, so the other night my battery drained completely while I was working. I knew it was getting low but it never yelled at me so I kept working. Ever since then I can't get it to charge!!! I just bought a new battery and power pack this summer for this reason!!!! I spent well over a year with the X over the battery. I have the plug icon there now but it still reads 0% after being plugged in overnight.
Now, I have browsed the forums and support pages and have tried the reset, the callibration, cleaning the magsafe adapter, etc. My light isn't coming on the magsafe, although it had come on and was a dim green for a few hours. Now it's not even doing that! I read somewhere that this is a problem. I guess I will have to try to get ahold of an actual support person. **** I hate the power issues on my MacBook Pro. I love the machine...hate the power issues!!!and have tried the reset,

To check for a bad battery, go to Apple/About This Mac/More Info
In the System Profiler window, select the Power entry & look for Health Information.
If next to Condition it says "Check Battery" then your battery is probably on the fritz.
Take your computer to an Apple Store. The staff will be able to check to determine if your model MBP qualifies for a free battery. Otherwise, you will pay for it yourself if you do not have Apple Care. -
So my iphone 5 was having very bad battery problems and apple said they charged $80 to which i was astonished by because my warrenty ended 2 weeks eailer. I thought maybe they would be generous and help me out but no so i took it upon myself to get a new battery and install it myself. I did that and it turns out i need a new front camera flex ribbon so i also bought that and installed it myself. Whe i was donre installing it my phone flashed the apple logo and went black front there. I tried connecting to itunes and it gives me error 4014. Will apple still fix my phone even though i opened it?(Im not under the warrenty anymore).
It is unfortunate that you chose to open the device. Apple will not touch it now. Out of Warranty replacement is no longer an option.

Why does my iphone 3gs shut down when battery shows 80%. a couple of months ago is shut down at 60% but has continually gotten worse. this was before 5.0. i took it to a repair man and he tried a used battery, a new battery, and the original battery. nothing helped. 5.01 didnt help either. What is my problem?
Fully discharge the battery (till it shuts down and won't turn on) and then fully recharge it (100%). This will recalibrate the battery meter. You may need to do this a few times.

Windows 10 Upgrade Salellite - Resolving battery and power issues
My upgrade seemed to go smoothly until I tried to unplug my laptop and use it with the battery. It shut down even though it shows that I have 100% charge. It was working fine before the upgrade. When I put my model into the site it says that it is not compatible for the upgrade but otherwise everything seems fine so far except that I cant use my battery. Someone I know suggested that I might need to download a driver but I have no idea which one or if that is the problem. I would appreciate some help with this. I have Satellite C875-S7303. I just called to get a new battery and....
They said it would be covered by the apple care pertection plan... but they took my card number down and said if i dont retrun the battery I will get charged. I havent even gotten the new battery and a $130 pending payment is in my account..

If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:

Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

There was no new serial needed to update from Logic 9 to 9.1.7
If your Logic 9 was an upgrade from Logic 8 it may be asking you for your original Logic 8 Full serial first and then your Logic 9 Upgrade serial...
Otherwise, it's best to call Apple directly and get them to help you... -
I have an iphone that has stopped charging. I have purchased a new battery and charger for it but it is still not charging. Does anyone know how i can fix this?
That pretty much eliminates all the user-serviceable parts the phone has.
When you say you purchased a new battery, I'll assume that it included the installation and you did not go fiddling with the nanoscrews and such. So it's got to have some sort of warranty that the part is good and it is time to take it back for service. -

So we just got a new Macbook and I also installed the apple configurator tool. I'm using it to prepare the iPads for deployment and it won't let me prepare them? It gets an error stating "retrieving iOS info from apple" then it stops and says "internet error". My Internet connection is fine with the Mac-book. It shows the iPad is listed under the Prepare logo up top as 1 but under supervise none are shown. Although it does show itself in iTunes. Also the profile I created is fresh and has no errors. We have tryed nearly everything I cna think of and online forums are not giving us to much info on this error.

Deploying new portal and its effect on the old desktop
I have an application which has few .portal files which are then converted to desktop in production through admin portal.
Now i changed my source code and create a new ear file and deploy it in the prod environment.
1) What will be the effect of the new deployment and changed codebase for the underlying .portal file on the old desktop created.
2) Do i need to create the desktop again everytime i deploy a new update ear file?
3) what if i dont update?
Any documentation pointing the specific exact anwers to above questions.
ThanksWhen you say changed code base do you mean you have added /removed books /pages? If so these wont be picked up by the deploy
1) None , deployment does not affect the desktop created.
2)No , you only need to modify the desktop if you want your changes to be picked or if you want to make changes manually.
However your best bet is to use propagation to make the changes

even if you create a new desktop based on a .portal which has changed , then you are prompted what you want to do, and you can decide accordingly (e.g. choosing replace affects the already created desktop)

Its easier to test out the changes on a staging server and propagate the changes once your sure everything works. Note that so far propagation has never worked correctly all the time so backup everything (including the embedded LDAP)
