Powerbook G4 wont turn on

ok, im a newbie to Macs and i obtained this laptop 2nd hand. i cant get it to turn on regularly. when i hit the power button, sometimes you will here the fans, sometimes the hard drive will spin up, sometimes all you get is the caps lock/num lock light, and rarely it will boot up.
i have it plugged into the wall with the adapter, the battery lights show full charge, i have reset the thingy with the button inder the keyboard...im lost now.
anyone help me????

you can do a few things that might get it working.
First try SafeBoot. With the machine off hold the shift key down. Turn on the computer and while holding the shift key, see if it boots up to a login or the desk top. If that doesn't work, you may want to try installing a new copy of the OS, of course you will need the install disks. You may be abled to repair the computer by installing a new copy of the OS. That might take care of your problem as long as it isn't hardware related.

Well, Bluetooth has nothing to do with USB. (Unless you confused a wireless USB mouse with a Bluetooth mouse. Bluetooth mice require no adapters with Bluetooth built-in to our PowerBook model. If you were using a special adapter that plugs into your USB port in order to make your mouse wireless, then that is a Wireless USB mouse... which means that your USB ports are functioning in a way, but more malfunctioning than operating correctly).

Bar won't cost anything. If they take it in and pop it open to make
a full diagnosis, that's when the charge for labor comes in. The look-
over and pre-diagnosis is usually free... that way you can decide if
you want to repair, do something else like buy a new computer, etc.)

I wish I could've helped you more. We've gone this far. Last thing. Does your FireWire port work? And what about the other ports, like mini DVI, sound out, etc.? Ethernet?

Sorry. That's what the "D" option was according to the other manual I read on the internet. (I can't say it's name). If all else fails, that is the final step. A necessary repair of the logic board. (Odd that the Apple Hardware Test does not report any errors! It may not be necessarily logic board failure. That's why I recommend going to Apple... that is, if you have one near you. I have four close to me so I'm lucky. If you have the same luxury, get different opinions from each Apple Genius... trust me on that one).

PB G4 1.67 wont turn on.

I have a g4 powerbook 1.67 that was dropped from about 6-10 inches onto the corner where the battery installs. Screen looks fine, corner of the computer is slightly dented, and the computer wont turn on. i have opened it up and checked all the conections and I get nothing. The battery won't charge either. Is it possible I killed the power board? its on the same side as the dent. Any other suggestions I can try? Any help would be great.

I left my house yesterday and came back 3 hrs later and my computer was dead... I have no clue what happened. I have left all out for a hour or so in addition to doing the plug in / no battery w the 5 second hold.. HELP...
I took it to the genius bar and he said I had discharged a shock while replacing my hhd or my super drive( but I usually make sure I am clean / dry and i do all surgeries on my desk blotter) so his conclusion was the logic board....
any other short cuts / experiments I can do to try to power it up. I am using a friends dell...ugh to figure all out. Thank you all for your prompt help.

Try restoring with the new 2006-01-10 iPod software update. There's been a bug associated with bookmarkable AAC files (including bookmarking audiobooks)ever since the 2005-06-26 iPod update (the one that introduced support for podcasting and making podcasts subscribed to through the iTunes Music Store bookmarkable). While not all color and photo iPods have been affected by this, a number of people have seen freezeups. (See the "Having to reset iPod a lot" thread http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1159461#1159461 ) Some people have dealt with this by reverting to earlier software updates (from their installation CDs) to recover stability.
The new iPod software update is the first one with corrections for 4G models since 2005-06-26. It fixed at least one other thing that got broken with that release (dynamically updating smart playlists); it may have fixed this problem.
The general solution is to do a restore. I'd advise trying the restore with the latest software update, though.

Wont turn off or restart

my friend just called me in a panic saying herm power book went to sleep when she was at school and when she came home it wont turn on or restart even when you take the battery out.

Well, if there is no power than how is it going to start? With the battery in & the power cable plugged in, try to turn it on. When the powerbook goes to sleep and the battery runs out, it'll still be on but you won't be able to wake the computer up because there just isn't enough power. But, when this happens, you can plug in the power cord then press the power button in order to wake it up. If what I said doesn't work, then there is probably a bigger issue.

Boot your computer using the install disk (hold the C button while turning on the computer, with the install disk inside). Open Disk Utility and repair the disk and disk permissions.

hi my iphone 4 was working properly last night abd out of no where it kept freezing and turning off and the apple came on and later on it completly turned off and i tried everything to turned it on and nothing, today in the morning i plugged it in to the charger and pressed home plus lock together abd the apple came on!! i was so happy andit turned on back to normal, i was getting ready for school and i was playing music and 20 minutes later it shuts off and now it wont turn on! my iphone is not jail broken or has been dropped in water.

Any other suggestions? I have the same problem. I tried holding the home and power buttons with no response, and I also plugged in my phone to the charger for over an hour and still nothing. That has been the extent of my troubleshooting

Just share with you guys, i having the same issue on iPhone 5. Using the iTunes to turn off the VoiceOver had fixed the issue for me.

i bought a macbook from a guy and when i started it up... surprise it wont turn on if its not connected because the battery is not being detected.... then what i checked first was photobooth surprise the isight camera is not working... i searched in internet about smc but i do not understand it.... is there a way to recover it using the cd?

Try resetting the PMU - Resetting MacBook and MacBook Pro System Management Controller (SMC). If you have no success then you'll need to take it in for service or replace the AC adaptor if it's gone bad.

As far as trying to power up your device, make sure it has a good charge and then hold the button on the top of the phone and the home button on the faceplate together until the apple appears on the screen.

Try to backup and restore you device in itunes...restoring the device is like removing the iOS software off the device and re-add in a newer software, after you have restore you device, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR DEVICE LIKE A NEW DEVICE, DONT NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!!... give the device a chance to use the newer software and see if the issue still persisting, if the issue still on going then its would be a hardware issue.
Call Apple Care and see if your device is still under warranty to get it replace
