Powerbook not recognizing printer drivers
so, my powerbook for some reason is not recognizing new HP printer drivers. this has happened twice now with two different printers (both mac-compatible). this is a new thing--i used to use an HP printer quite happily with this laptop.
here's what happens:
i install. installation is successful, hooray. the hp device manager opens, i choose my device (the Deskjet F300, in this case), and i'm ready to go.
i open Word to print a doc. i get an error saying "word cannot print due to a problem with the current printer."
i open my Print Preferences panel and lo and behold, there's no printer in the list. i click the [+] button to add a printer.
my Printer Browser appears. the DJ F300 appears in the list as a USB device (there are no other printers). I select it.
in the subwindow below, i see this:
-printer name: Deskjet F300
-location: home
-print using: [dropdown menu of printer drivers]
i can't proceed until i select a driver. the F300 is not listed among the HP drivers in the dropdown menu, so i click the button that says More Printers.
the AppleTalk browser opens. there are no printers, but after a moment, a dialog box pops up saying a new driver has been detected, and do i want to reload the browser? i click OK to reload the browser.
and nothing happens. the driver still does not appear anywhere.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, both from the CD and by downloading it from HP's site. i have run disk utility, but it didn't help. does anyone have any ideas?
if this is at all related--my computer also doesn't recognize that i've agreed to my iTunes user agreement (i have to re-agree every time i launch iTunes) and it doesn't remember that i want make iPhoto my default (although i click OK every time). it also won't remember changes to my screen saver--all small, annoying things i can live with, but maybe a clue to what's not working?
When you click on the blue circle in the upper right with the white magnifying glass, if it isn't indexing, it will just show you a search field with the text Spotlight next to it, and any results from your last search if you had results. If you are able to search for stuff there, usually that means the index is OK. If no search results come up when you search, that means the index needs to be rebuilt. To rebuild the index go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight and select Privacy. Drag the hard drive icon in there, and then remove it with the minus sign below. Indexing will restart, and will be indicated in the Spotlight menu until it is finished. This may take several hours.

Zen not recognized, no drivers found XP
'Zen not recognized, no drivers found XPA I thought I'd share my recent experience in switching computers since I didn't find this info anywhere on Creative's site. Zen 32MB, Windows XP
. No drivers found
I vaguely recall having to do this when I bought the thing, but the drivers it needs are wpdusb.sys and wudfrd.sys and the best way to get them is to install Windows Media Player , since that forces Windows to see them. It looks like Creative has made (and posted) separate drivers for newer operating systems that don't use these type of drivers at all.
2. Unrecognized USB device
In trying to figure out why it couldn't find the drivers, the Zen stopped being recognized at all by any of my computers. A reboot - sticking the paper clip in the reset hole while powering it up - fixed that.the ipod itself requires no special drivers and only uses the standard USB mass storage drivers
check the USB port you are using to make certain:
1) it is a high powered USB port
2) check device manager to make certain the drivers for the USB ports are functioning -

g4 titanium powerbook Mac OS X (10.4)Liz, when you download the new drivers from HP's site download them to your desktop, then open HP's folder, and drag the download to this folder it could be located in the Applications folder or the Utility folder, Then and only after you drag it in the HP folder double click it to launch the drivers.
When you use the installer or just plug in the USB it may or maynot print. This will normally give you the folder I speak of in one or more locations. When you go to Hp's site it normally will not download the upates and drivers to that folder and launch them. You have to double click them.

Powerbook not recognized on Windows 7 PC
Hi everyone,
I am having trouble finding a driver for my PC to recognize my Powerbook G4 running Tiger OS X. The PC is running a Windows 7, 64bit system.
When I connect the devices using a firewire cable the PC recognizes the new HW, but it cannot find a driver on-line for it. The Powerbook does not pick the PC up. Does anyone have any ideas? I have not tried using USB to USB yet as I don't have a cable.
I am desperate to re-image my Powerbook as it is in desperate need of it, but I cannot do this until I have backed-up the data. One of the reasons I need to re-image it is as the Powerbook is not recognizing any external HD's, making this process even more difficult for me.
The PC and Powerbook connect fine using the wireless connection, but this is painstakingly slow...
Does anyone have a link to a driver I can use on the PC? Or any other ideas of how I can best transfer the data?
I was also looking at some terminal commands to connect to the PC using the IP address of the device, does anyone have any good tricks/commands for this as well?
Cheers,
Flash74if you are trying to use Mac "target mode", some PCs may not be able to recognise it
you could try to set up FireWire Mac-PC network:

Printer setup utility not recognizing printer
I have a G5 powermac with os 10.3.9. I have a HP 5000n printer with an ethernet connection over a LAN. The printer was working fine however It stopped working today. I tried reinstalling the HP drivers but the printer does not come up in the printer setup utility list. So I deleted all old references and tried again but still not showing. As I remenber this original setup was really easy but I can't get it to work now? Any help greatly appreciated
Printer troubleshooting checklist:
1. Check that the printer operates by doing a self-test print using the buttons on the printer itself.
2. Check that the cable is fine. Perhaps swap the cable if another is available.
3. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility, found in Application/Utilities.
4. With Printer Setup Utility closed
Locate the com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist
found in ~/Library/Preferences and trash it.
5. Switch off, disconnect and unplug the cable of the printer.
Locate the com.apple.print.HP5000n.plist or similar name
found in ~/Library/Preferences and trash it.
Reconnect the printer, switch on.
Open Printer Setup Utility, select add printer. -
Gnome stuck in fallback mode - not recognizing nvidia drivers
Every time I start a gnome session it is stuck in fallback mode. Checking under System Settings > Details > Graphics I see that the Driver is listed as Unknown and Experience is Fallback. Forced Fallback Mode is OFF. I cannot get it to recognize the nvidia driver (I have also tried nouveau but it did not recognize that either). I have tried re-installing the nvidia driver and rebooting, but I can't seem to fix the problem . Here are the logs that I thought might be relevant. If you need to see anything else please let me know . Thanks.

I remember when I would start the pc that startx I could never get to run, I would always start the gui using gdm, which was the only thing I could get to work. I do not have a .xinitrc. I believe the nx connects and issues gnome-session to start the session but I am not sure. -
Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion not downloading Printer Drivers
I have an Epson XP-300 All in One Printer. I tried downloading the software and its drivers from the installatioin CD and Epson Website but my Mac just won't do it. When I click Download on the Epson Site safari won't open the page. It tries to but then says "Safari can't open page". I am running Mountain Lion.
Help...anyone?Thanks for the quick reply Sig. I actually downloaded this file from the exact location you suggested last night. I then deleted the printer from "Printer and Scan" list and tried to add it again hoping it would solve the problem but now I can't even add the printer again since the Mac doesn't even recognize there is a printer in range. Still don't know what to do. Suggestions?? Thanks.

Macbook Pro not recognizing printer Canon iP4300
Hello
I have been having problems with my Canon iP4300 Pinter. Once upon a time it worked, now it doesn't. I only use it to print direct to DVD's. I have another printer attached which is an all-in-one Brother for my main printing, faxing etc. (unfortunately it doesn't print direct to DVD tho). I have tried reinstalling the drivers but now mt MB Pro won't recognize the printer at all. If I plug it in to my USB hub I get a message stating "Over Current Usage" or something like that. I try plugging it in to my USB port on the MB Pro left or right side and still nothing. When I go thru Printer Settings it checks for new drivers and still nothing.
What am I doing wrong?
Can I connect printer with a different cable? Firewire?
Please help!!Hi.
Try a different USB cable. I had troubles with USB printer cables a couple of times, giving me the weirdest problems.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the IP4300 driver: move the /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter folder to the Trash and empty it, then download and install the latest IP4300 driver from the Canon download page.
Plug the printer directly to the Macbook Pro, or get a powered USB Hub.
Good Luck. -
Portege R600-10Q Finger Print Utility not recognizing prints
I have a Portg R600-10Q laptop which has been upgraded to run Windows 7 Professional (32bit) using the Toshiba supplied upgrade disks.
Recently the finger print scan became unreliable so I followed my usual practice and removed the old finger prints and set about rescanning my fingers.
I find that there are three scans required for each finger. When I scan the first two times the print is immediately recognised and graded 'Good'. However, the third attempt always fails and will scan up to 8 times and then the process is terminated. This happens regardless of which finger is involved, restarting the machine, running the utility as an administrator etc.
I uninstalled the Fingerprint Utility and then reinstalled but the same issue remains.
I'd value any suggestions for getting the Fingerprint Utility working again.
Andrew> I uninstalled the Fingerprint Utility and then reinstalled but the same issue remains.
Did you use the newest finger print software?
Please do this.
Please try the fingerprint software released for Portege R700.
There is new version which is released for Win 7 32bit and 64bit OS
PS; you should delete all fingerprints before installing new version...

T60 system not recognizing drivers.
I have a T60 laptop, model 2613-HKU. Recently I just reinstalled Windows XP. After the OS installation, I installed every drivers listed on Lenovo's website:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62928.html
Still, under "Device Manager", I saw a list of uninstalled devices:
-Biometric Coprocessor
-Ethernet Controller
-Network Controller
-PCI Device
-SM BUS Controller
-Unknown Device
-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
So I think in this case my issue would be likely to caused by the system not recognizing the drivers? Any help or suggestion would be really appreciated. I have posted a similar post before since I thought I only have an issue with the wireless system, so I apologize if anyone consider this somewhat a duplicate post.Just checkin: Lenovo driver installs have two steps: 1. Extract 2. Install. Did you do step 2?
When you run the downloaded file it extracts, usually to a directory under C:/DRIVERS, then you go to that directory, and run the installer (usually setup.exe, but not always - check the installation instructions).
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer! -
How to ID specific printer drivers installed with system?
Good evening.
How can I find out what specific printer drivers are installed with my current OS 10.4.11 software?
It has been updated by the "software update" route since original install by Apple at factory.
I would like to use my old but bulletproof Epson Color Stylus 600 printer. The Apple support site says that support should be there.
Thanks for your time.Just add the printer. If you did not install printer drivers you can do so from the Optional Installer on the Tiger DVD.

venkateshwarlu veeramallaYou will need to create separate device types for each printer family installed at your installation or if each printer family require either simplex or duplex printing.
1. Go to Spool Administration screen by using transaction code SPAD from the initial screen of SAP.
2. From the SPAD screen choose menu path Utilities-->for device types --> IMPORT (or you can run RSTXSCRP program from SE38, too).
3. In the initial screen of SAPscript Export to Dataset/SAPscript Import from Dataset enter the following:
a) Check Radio button for device type.
b) In the Object Name field enter object name of the device type file (please see the table at the end of this document for object names)
c) MODE must be IMPORT
In the Ctrl parameters for file operation
d) Check radio button for "From/on frontend" ( Generally this would be the default)
That's it. Don't enter anything else. Execute by clicking execute button or function key F8.
4. In the Create Object Directory Entry window that pops up, enter your development class and press enter
5. You will get a pop up Window Import from a Local File. Browse through the Window to enter the filename in your local directory and click Transfer button. -
CUPS not recognizing Epson USB-Printer
I'm trying to get an Epson Stylus Office Box BX300F to work with Arch x86_64.
I have followed the CUPS wiki page closely and have installed everything it told me to.
When i connected to http://localhost:631/admin and clicked 'add printer' the USB printer was not listed. dmesg however showed me that the printer is at least recognized to some extent:
[ 2295.813154] usb 2-1: new high speed USB device number 6 using ehci_hcd
[ 2295.951540] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 6 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04B8 pid 0x0848
[ 2297.177498] usb 2-1: usbfs: interface 1 claimed by usblp while 'usb' sets config #1
I tried blacklisting usblp, but then, after rebooting, it got not recognized at all, so i undid that.
Then i found the printer in the openprint db (link), found the driver that is listed as working perfectly there in the AUR (link) and installed that package. But it doesn't seem to help at all, CUPS still doesn't list any USB printer. I've included the full section of /var/log/cups/error_log with loglevel=debug, hope it helps. Any suggestions on how i can get the printer working are greatly appreciated.
cupsd restarted at 20:31:19 ; i refreshed http://localhost:631/admin at 20:31:24 ; and i clicked 'add printer' at 20:31:30

i found a related thread ( https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=110477 ) but that deals with digital cameras, so it doesn't really help me. Other forum threads i found about libusb permission errors were mostly people that forgot to add themselves to lp and the like. Does anyone know why i get the permission errors and how i can fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated! -
My Image CLASS MF4350d printer is not recognized by windows 8-64 bit
My Image CLASS MF4350d printer is not recognized by windows 8-64 bit any help how can i fix the problem. I just bought new HP computer from Future shop and it came with Windows in it. but this windows8 doesnt have drivers for my printer Image Class MF 4350d. Now I hve no clue how can i fix this isue. Because I checked on Canon website for drivers and downloaded and run the drivers, but no solution for my printer at all.
Yes. I have the latest version intalled but this hasnt helped.
I thought it could be to do with the Shuffle not having enough of a battery charge.
So i plugged it into the wall charger and then tried this didnt work either.
It wont even play music for some reason. The only information I get in the earpiece when I turn it on is what the battery level is at. -
upgraded to 10.8.5 software on my imac. my HP 4780 photosmart printer is wifi capable. it is now not recognized by the imac. worked fine before. do i need a new printer, or is there patch or app to make this work?
Hello
If the printer still has a valid ip address then just uninstall and reinstall the printer software again on the mac. This link provides the uninstall of the printer. Here is the link for the drivers. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-70896-3 &cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4019&product=3794615&sw_lang= Hope this helps.
I work on behalf of HP.

How to set a disk password?
Hello all; please bear with me. I purchased my Macbook Air used and the original owner reset it, which required a "disk password" at startup. I wanted to change it and somehow managed to completely rid of it by turning off FileVault and then turning
