PowerBuilder and Tux 8 - Hight CPU

Running PowerBuilder 6.05 application with Tux 8.0 w/s on Citrix
Cause the Citrix to have CPU peaks /spikes
Any Idea what might be the issue?

Hmmm... not sure what the problem could be.
Spotify runs fine on my mac.
Try a clean reinstall of Spotify to see if this fixes the problem:
Advanced method:
https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/reinstallation-of-spotify
Easy method:
Download this free app cleaner. It's super easy. Download button is on the right side
http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
When you open up the app, click the search icon and search for Spotify and it will automatically find and delete all files on your computer related to Spotify.
I use it all the time and it's a really great tool. If you ever decide to uninstall an app, the best way is to use this tool.
After that, download and reinstall Spotify.

  • Hight CPU of UserAgentEvent using com.apple.TimeMachine.System.plugin - 10.7.2

    Hi everyone,
    This morning I got a problem with my mac after a force reboot of it. I got a hight CPU usage and a memory consomation like a leak (more than 5gb after a while and still growing up).
    To fix it, I moved out all the plugins of the UserEventPlugins in /System/Library/UserEventPlugins and put them back one by one to find out which one wasn't working correctly.
    I just don't understand why the com.apple.TimeMachine.System.plugin got this problem after the reboot, how to fix it and what is the utility of this plugin for the OS.
    Maybe this will help some getting problem with the UserAgentEvent.
    Let me know if you need any logs. It's a fresh install (1 day running).
    Regards

    This problem happened again after the last Lion update (1.7.3)...
    I juste get off all the plugin for now...

  • OS X 10.5.3 (and beyond) Increases CPU Power Draw?

    Hi all
    I've got another ongoing thread (2006 Mac Pro Elevated CPU Temps) where I've been attempting to determine why my 2006 Mac Pro was running so much warmer than I recall at time of purchase...
    By sheer luck, I seem to have stumbled on the cause... when I first noticed it, I was running 10.5.7 with the CPUs idling around 130F or so... as noted in that thread, I tried all sorts of things such as cleaning the dust out, reapplying the thermal paste, etc... all of which had no impact... for an unrelated issue, I decided to re-install OS X 10.5 base version and I was shocked to discover my CPU temps back down in the mid-90s F or so...
    I happened to have taken some screenshots of Hardware Monitor and was able to compare them against the current readings... under OS X 10.5 -> 10.5.2, each CPU draws ~10W @ idle; under 10.5.3 and beyond, the CPU draw increases to ~30W @ idle. Naturally, this extreme increase results in the aforementioned temperature increase... I'm not sure as to the cause but my immediate suspicion is that some low-power CPU mode is disabled in the later revisions...
    I've spoken to Apple about this and they're looking into it but in the mean time, I was wondering if anyone has any input on this?
    -Justin

    Interesting since Apple stated that they observed similar results on their test machine...
    I'll have to try stripping the machine down to the original components and seeing if it has an impact... although, I think I've done this already when I was exploring why the CPU temps were so high...
    When you say
    The hatter wrote:
    Probably it is your system and something in the way it is configured... everything from power source coming in, any UPS or surge or line conditioner, to the PSU, and then to video and other components...
    if it's not the components and I don't have a UPS (all I have is a surge protector - could that have some impact?), what might it be?
    Thanks again!

  • Firefox keeps freezing and using 50% cpu and memory usage shoots up most of the time it's when there's an auto update of anything addon, plugin or ff!

    Firefox keeps freezing and using 50% cpu and memory usage shoots up real fast and carries on going till it uses up all there is left. Most of the time it's when there's an auto update of anything addon, plugin or ff but not just neccessarily then! I find out it's happened when there's been an update after i restart and an extra webpage comes up with the particular addon/plugin/ff update. I have to restart most of time because nothing sorts it out. I'm using windows xp with the latest update of ff 13.0.1 it's not this version because it's been happening for a while. And it never started when i added a particular addon or plugin or when i added a new app to my pc either. Any idea as to what this may be or how i'd sort it out?
    Cheers

    Maybe disable hardware acceleration? This article should help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram

  • Flash player 11 is very glitchy on ALL browsers and makes my CPU usage 100%,Streaming media headache

    flash player 11 is very glitchy on ALL browsers and makes my CPU usage 100%, making all youtube and pandora or any streaming media a headache, i have a low-end but good quality Emachine with Windows 7 Sv pk. 1, AMD Athalon Processor 2650e 1.6 GHz 2GB ram 32-bit, which isn't that bad, it used to play HD videos and everything without a skip or lag, it is virus clean, and clean of any large bulky programs, the only thing that went wrong was the fact that the adobe flash updates slowly but surely made it worse, AND it will not let me roll-back to an older version anymore like it used to, so WTF is up? no one seems to have an answer for this, and it seems like ADOBE is doing everything in it's power to not let me ask this question or get it solved, maybe it's because I AM TOO SMART FOR IT AND KNOW IT'S A FAILURE. so please, anyone who actually has a degree in this field is welcome, but no BS anymore, i want answers.

    The jump to FP11 was pretty significant with Stage3D. Now Flash Player has a lower level access to your computers GPU to offload playing video and 3d rendering to the GPU. However if your systems GPU isn't up to the task you really won't see that performance gain.
    Enter H264 video decoding. A large segment of the Flash usage market is simply viewing video. For sites without fallback in mind (or don't mind software rendering fallback), video may suffer. Using the GPU accelerated video classes may make it difficult for your system to view playback. Disabling hardware acceleration as recommended above would revert you back to software (CPU) decoding to check if your system itself is the issue (and not all the new GPU additions). You did that yet you're still having an issue.
    Just to clarify, as I have an eMachine (for accounting), your computer is very much in the "budget" margin. You have a 3 year old single core 1.6ghz AM2 CPU with 512kb of L2. That's the K8 series. This is a very underpowered, single thread loving CPU. Only the most optimized Flash sites and lower end videos (720p or below) should play, but I'm not even sure if they'll "play well". It depends on your GPU.
    Also you should know they have an official list of unsupported chipsets and drivers based on many factors. Here's a list for FP11 and AIR3:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/stage3d-unsupported-chipsets-drivers-flash.html
    Check the bottom of the screen to see what Flash is reporting your rendering mode is. For example, mine states:
    Your gpu supports Stage3D in both Baseline and Constrained profile!
    Baseline RenderMode:
    DirectX9
    Constrained RenderMode:
    DirectX9 (Baseline Constrained)
    This probably won't get better in the future for you. Flash is not a low end multimedia runtime. It does require and utilize high end hardware in a much more reliable way.

  • NT kernel and System runs CPU at 25% after wakeup.

    I rently upgraded my Thinkad X220T to Windows 8. However, whenever my computer wakeups from sleep, the NT kernel and System would start and run the CPU at 25%. The fan also keeps running and my battery life goes down to a bit more than an hour. I recently searched for solutions and it seems that this is due to drivers, does anyone here have any idea how to fix this? Thanks

    Hi, x61yang
    Have you ensured that all drivers and components of the system have been updated? If not, that would be the first thing I would recommend. All drivers for your system can be found here.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Google Earth Plugin and LabVIEW: High CPU usage when adding placemarks

    Hi,
    I posted this question on stackoverflow earlier this week but feel it might be better suited to the LabVIEW community specifically so I'm reposting here:
    I'm writing an application which uses the Google Earth Plugin to display events on the globe. Each event is a single point kml placemark with an icon which is a 3kb png file. Placemarks are uploaded to the plugin as they are received by the software. I am experiencing increasing CPU usage with the number of placemarks that are added.
    I have tested displaying a new placemark every second and running until the software running the plugin completely froze (graph attached). The GEPlugin (green trace) stopped responding (i.e. the globe did not respond to the mouse) at around 1200 placemarks added and CPU usage was at ~30%. When the software itself (red trace) froze the plugin was using around 50% CPU and ~3700 placemarks had been added). After the freeze, no new placemarks were added which caused the software to respond (but not the plugin) so I could clear all the placemarks. After the placemarks were cleared from the globe, the CPU usage of the plugin returned to around 5% CPU.
    So what I've seen is that GEPlugin CPU usage increases linearly with each kml placemark added. Is this the expected behaviour/ a normal limitation of the plugin? If not is there a more efficient way of adding many placemarks to the globe?
    I am using GEPlugin version 7.1.1.1580 (API version 1.010) and LabVIEW 12.0f3
    Please see the test results attached. Any input greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
    I have had a look at your graphs and understood what you are trying to do. To me it seems that as the image gets more complex it gets harde to render which wold likely cause increase in CPU usage resulting in the freeze. I would suggest you try running the program on anoher computer to check on the RAM front of things. If this is a limitation of the GE Plugin then unfortunately I can not do much to help, but if you think this is a problem coming from your LabVIEW code then you can post your code here and I can take a look.

  • Mail and safari hogging cpu - corrupt preferences?

    I am having a major problem when I run Mail or Safari under Mavericks on my iMac - they hog all the CPU making it hard to do other things unless I keep quitting the Mail Web Content or Safari Web Content processes using Activity Monitor. This also has shown up in other discussions on this board and no one seems to have a resolution to the problem. But the curious thing is that I only have the problem on my older iMac, but on my new MacBook Pro that also runs Mavericks, runs Mail with identical settings (and is accessing the same server) and runs Safari with the same bookmarks there is no problem. So the problem must be with something on my iMac that is causing Mail and Safari to keep running these Web Content processes and taking over the CPU.
    In the old days I would have assumed it was a corrupt Preferences file and deleted that, but no one has sugggested this. Is this possible? If so, what should be deleted?

    While everything had been working fine, this morning I installed the latest update to the operating system and I am back with the same problem (although I am only having Mail Web Content hogging the CPU and not Safari Web content this time).  I am posting below some information from the log as you suggested (sorry if it is too much but I don't know what you are looking for). Let me know if there is anything else you need. Thanks for the help LInc.

  • Firefox 3.6.12 is running extremely slow and taking 100% CPU on my mac.

    Just updated Firefox to 3.6.12 and it's taking over 100% CPU on one of my processors and is running EXTREMELY slow, too slow to use.

    Firefox used to be the doggs bollocks now its just a dog.
    Back to internet exploder fro me im afraid.I cant keep waiting twenty seconds for everything its like being back in 1993.

  • Firefox process occasionally continues to run after closing browser in XP Pro 64 and uses 50% CPU

    Every once in awhile after closing Firefox 3.6.13 the process continues to run. The way I discover this is my CPU temperature monitor is increasing from 36C to 50C, so I open the Task Manger and see that it is using 50% of the CPU, slowing down the computer. I am running XP Professional 64 bit SP2 with all the latest updates on an Intel E8400 3.0GHz overclocked to 3.6GHz and 4GB dual channel DDR2-1066 at 800MHz. This happens only occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. I just end the task and the temperature of the CPU drops and everything is normal again.

    Norton IPS is apparently a known issue being mentioned in the KB articles:
    *[[firefox will not start]]
    * [[firefox crashes when you open it]]
    * I also found an earlier post on the Norton site http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Norton-IPS-1-0-Addon-for-FireFox/m-p/25425#M8494 but I am not sure this is still considered a problem.
    What exactly is this IPS extension. I am currently using XPs with Norton's NIS (version 18.6 - it is a paid for subscription). I do have Intrusion Prevention active in NIS but I see no specific extension or program IPS. Is this some optional additional software?
    I did find an explanation but from 2009
    * http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Protection-Blog/Intrusion-Prevention-System-IPS-Your-first-line-of-defense/ba-p/124400
    I am NOT using the Norton Toolbar etc. is it these components that are causing the problem i.e safe search etc.
    I am not having problems with firefox hanging or continuing, despite using NIS.
    There is a bug on this https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=548945 but that does not seem to have got very far in confirming or resolving the issue. I imagine Norton have a very large userbase and it seems unlikely that the basic NIS is itself incompatible with Firefox.

  • Aperture fails to import 10,000 pics - hangs, instead, and takes 200% CPU

    Help!
    I am an IT professional and a professional photographer. But I have now spent a MONTH!! trying in vain to import my photo library into Aperture on my iMac.
    I try to import 10,000 images (the import mode that leaves originals where they are) from my 1 TB firewire drive (bought at Apple store). Result same every time: it imports for hours or days (taking 200% CPU - who writes this malware?) , then hangs up completely.
    Apple is no help.. no phone number to be found anywhere. I'll even pay.. this is my work, and I cannot do it.
    I have followed maybe 50 threads here and on Google about similar issues and I have done everything that everyone suggests. No difference.
    My latest import again halted with the app locking up. Here is what I did:
    I bought a 1 TB RAID0 drive at the Apple Store. I copied all my photo shoot directories ove rthere. I emptied Aperture (deleted all projects, restarted). I then started re-importing the images from the new drive (I chose the way that leaves the originals where they are).
    So far it has been chugging along all night creating thumbnails. The CPU is 200% used (of which 190% is Aperture). Aperture is completely unresponsive. In fact - Aperture is so unresponsive I am sure it has hung up. Yes, it has - no activity but 200% CPU. Ok, I force quit and now I need to repeat the process again?
    This does not seem like good software - certainly not well behaved. I mean, how difficult can it be to import 10,000 images - that is what this software is for. Right? So make the app “nice” 10, already, so I can do other things meanwhile. Or give me a progress bar, with an ETA.
    I am willing to learn - not being difficult. I have Googled others’ issues. I have followed instructions. I have tried support (no help there). I ask here.
    But should it really take month to import my images? I am very close to throwing this crapware out and getting Lightroom instead.
    Ideas welcome. Or an Apple phone number, which Appleseems to be very adept at hiding at all costs. I'll pay for the **** service!!!!!
    Michael

    Welcome to the forum.
    The phone number will be on the AppleCare document that came in your Aperture box, along with an AppleCare ID for your copy of Aperture.
    Also, typing 'applecare telephone number' into Google will give you http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html as the very first result...
    I've never imported more than a thousand images at once but have not seen the kind of problems you are describing. What happens if you try importing smaller chunks at a time?
    Progress bar - open up the Activity window (Window>Show Activity) to view the progress of all background tasks such as importing & exporting, generation of thumbnails and Previews. You'll also see a 'working' indicator at the bottom of the Viewer or Browser panes, clicking on this will normally bring up the Activity window. Finally, the Project you are importing into will show a pie chart progress indicator instead of it's usual 'filing box' icon.
    Ian
    P.S. '+(taking 200% CPU - who writes this malware?)+' - if you're an IT pro then you're already aware that apps that are working flat-out and are multi-core aware are going to grab as much of the CPU(s) as possible. 200% and not doing anything is a problem - 200% in itself simply means the app is making full use of the resources available, and RAW decoding is an extremely CPU-intensive task.

  • [SOLVED]Conky and the phantom CPU

    So I am running Conky with Fluxbox on a laptop with a duel core CPU. Playing around with Conkys different output and variables trying to get a set up I liked. I notice I was able to monitor three CPUs when there should only be two. I can't seem to find any documentation on why this would be. All output different numbers is it possible one is the sum of each core added together? I also noted that if I add ${cpu cpu3} to the code below it does not show a fourth or more CPUs.
    ${color}CPU: ${cpu cpu0}%
    ${color}CPU: ${cpu cpu1}%
    ${color}CPU: ${cpu cpu2}%
    If someone could shed some light on this for me and maybe let me know which ones I should be using it would be greatly appreciated.

    The conky man page has the information you need, and so does the online conky documentation: http://conky.sourceforge.net/variables.html
    man conky
    cpu (cpuN)
        CPU usage in percents. For SMP machines, the CPU number can be provided as an argument. ${cpu cpu0} is the total usage, and ${cpu cpuX} (X >= 1) are individual CPUs.

  • Powerbuilder and Java

    On a wider note I'm very surprised that Java hasn't catered for extending base classes and still be able to keep the inheritance chain. If I compare this with Powerbuilder for a second, their Foundation Classes all come with an empty extension object between all their pre-defined classes. This would be the same in Java as having:
    Object
    |
    Object extension (empty)
    |
    Component (changed to have Object extension as ancestor)
    |
    Component extension (empty)
    |
    TextComponent (changed to have Component extension as ancestor)
    |
    etc, etc.
    The reason I bring up the comparison is I was wondering if any Third Party Vendors have done a similar thing with Java, i.e. not just created a series of extension objects but INSERTED objects between the higher classes?
    Is there such a thing to the best of anyone's knowledge or does everyone go down a route similar to the service one I've discussed above?

    Well, for one thing, this wreak havoc on code code reusability. For example, if I create a program similar to Eclipse and allow plug in components, if you have altered the heirarchy of classes, how does that impact my code? Wht if we have both done this? Who wins?
    I do agree that there is a real issue here. It's definitely a huge pain to have to extend every subclass of Component to add a little functionality. What's worse is that you can't even create a subinterface of a concrete class meaning that you can't create a MyComponent and have all your Components implement it.
    I think Component should have been an interface. Other people disagree and I respect that but I think it really makes things difficult. Then all the current concrete classes would just implement these classes. Then each sub-class would implement a subinterface and use the decorator patter to get the effect you are after.
    For example:
    Component  <--- BasicComponent
       ^               ^       ^
       |               |       |
       |<--Label<--BasicLabel  |
       |                       |
    Button <--------------BasicButtonNow you could create your own classes like so (or keep going with decorators):
    MyButton extends BasicButton
        MyButton()
           super(new BasicComponent());
    MyLabel extends BasicLabel
        MyLabel()
           super(new BasicComponent());
    }Then down the road you want to implement a simple change in all Component behavior:
    class MyComponent extends BasicComponent
       // blah blah blah
    MyButton extends BasicButton
        MyButton()
           super(new MyComponent());
    MyLabel extends BasicLabel
        MyLabel()
           super(new MyComponent());
    }

  • Multi-select LOV's hang form and use 100% CPU power

    Hello,
    We are using Designer 6i (6.5.52.1.0) and Headstart 6.5
    In one of our forms we are using 6 Multi-select LOV's.
    When we click the Cancel or Ok button (included through QMS_MSEL_LOV_BUTTONS), or hit Enter query in one of the ML_... blocks the form hangs and starts using all the CPU-power. I've tested this locally (c/s) and through the web (iAS), same result...
    I already rebuilt the LOV's but the problem isn't solved.
    We've got other forms with one or two multi-select LOV's, and these work fine.
    Has anyone experienced this behaviour before, and what is the cure?
    Thanks in advance!
    Wouter

    Wouter,
    If you are running against Solaris, you could be running into the following:
    Headstart applications that run via webforms on a Sun Solaris application server, suffer again from bug 1985903. This bug was spotted and solved a time ago and seemed to be solved at next
    releases of Forms 6i. Now, on Solaris the bug is introduced again.
    Description
    ===========
    1. When using a multi-select LOV (which is displayed in a modal dialog
    window), you select the records you want, press OK, and the application exits.
    2. When using a shuttle control to move records from left to right or vice
    versa, you select the records you want, press '>' to move them, and the
    application exits.
    This occurs in Forms 6.0.8.13.0 and 6.0.8.14.1. It did NOT occur in prior
    releases. This is some kind of forms bug.
    Workaround
    ==========
    For some reason the call to procedure renumber in qms$msel.process_records
    causes the application to exit. If you copy the code from renumber to all the
    places from which it is called, it works fine.
    - open qmslib65.pll in Form Builder
    - open package body qms$msel
    - find procedure process_records and define a local variable l_recno of type
    number.
    - find local procedure renumber and copy the body of this procedure
    (everything
    after 'begin' and before 'exception').
    - replace each call to 'renumber;' with the copied code.
    A new version of qms$msel package body is available on iXchange for download.
