Powercord doesn't light green after a water spill, but does charge

A couple weeks ago water got spilt on my beloved PowerBook. The first thing I did was unplug it — the powercord from it, and the extension cord from the wall.
The PB is back running after needing only a new keyboard, but the powercord seems off to me. It does charge the battery and lights up orange, but once done it doesn't light up green, it simply goes off. Also, the computer will run off the cord.
So, is this anything to worry over, or has the green light just died or something?

If your phone wont power up then you could try the proper hard reset which is to .press and hold the Call+END+Camera keys and turn the phione on using the power button, holdung the 3 keys until you see the handshake. This should return the phone to its out of the box state and you will lose all your data unless you have a previous backup.

  • Doesn't appear in My Computer or iTunes but still charges?

About six months ago I purchased a 4GB iPod Nano (3rd Generation). It has worked for me perfectly until the past week.
I hook my USB cable up, plug in my iPod, and it dings multiple times instead of just once like it used too. It is no longer showing up in iTunes or My Computer, although it does charge.
I first thought it to be a faulty cable, so I borrowed my friends, same thing happened.
I then thought a faulty port, so I tried my three other ports and still nothing.
I think there may be something wrong with my iPod because I hooked up my cousin's iPod up with my cable and it worked perfectly fine, it showed up in My Computer and iTunes, unlike my iPod.
Any suggestions, tutorials, just anything would be greatly appreciated!

    Ok.
Try connecting the iPod to the computer, and then when the iPod shows "Do Not Disconnect", reset the iPod while it is connected to the computer...
    Reset iPod
Leave it connected while it boots up and then see if Windows recognizes it. See if that does the trick.
Also, make sure you've gone through these steps...

Finally, try reinstalling iTunes (and restarting your computer after)...

  • Needed to pay cash after Apple Pay failure, but still charged

I had an interesting situation at McDonalds today. Tried to use ApplePay, and it appeared to work (received the DONE) message on the screen.
The cashier said that it didn't work and that I needed to do it again. I did not see the lights on the pad that I have seen in other places, so I assumed that it did fail. Tried it again and could not get TouchID to work. Since it was a busy lunch time rush, I offered to pay cash.
When I got back to my desk, I looked in Passbook and it shows a successful transaction under the card.
Who can I speak to about the problem? Do I need to go back to the bank?
    Thank you for the help.
    Steve

I think it would be more prudent to visit the McDonald's and show the Store Manager.  You could of course go to your Bank Card Web Site and simply put a hold on the specific Transaction.  I have noticed a particular issue when using ApplePay at McDonald's in that often ApplePay doesn't work at the same Store where it has worked many times.  In my case the way it has always failed is that my iPhone just doesn't wake up and go to the PassBook App at all.  Yesterday I even purchase an extra item in a subsequent transaction to see if it would work ...it didn't.  I convinced in McDonald's case it is either an issue with their NFC Devices or with some POS Transaction interaction between the Employee and the Keyboard Input choices.
Sometimes, after a McDonald's visit and an ApplePay transaction failure I have gone right over to Walgreens and successfully used ApplePay.

  • Why does Google voice no longer works in Firefox after adding addtional credit but does in Safari?

I am using Mac OS 10.10 with FireFox 30.0.2 as my browser. I was making calls OK on Goggle Voice through my G-Mail account. when I ran out of credit. I loaded additional credit and tried to resume calling. However, I kept get getting the following error message "Please download the voice plugin to make a call". Following the provided link lead me into a blind ally. Tried downloading a voice plugin and reinstalling, but no luck. Tried closing Firefox and reopening, but again no luck. There are no problems when using Safari as my browser. calls go through just fine.
Can't figure out why it worked just fine and thenstopped after laoding addtional credit.

I have made the neccessary steps to allow a link to open in a

to work. So I went ahead and tested it in Firefox (and other

Anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know why Contribute

I did a quick test by changing a link to open in a new

  • I have 30 pin dice silverline ipod kit in my car and 30 to lighting cable and adapter plays audio but does not charge.  Is there a fix

My 30 pin dice silverline ipod kit in my car worked fine with my old iphone.  it charged and played audio.  I bought both 30 pin to lighting (cable and adapter) from Apple store but it does not charge.  It only play audio.  I have verified that both adapter and cable are working fine.  Is there anything to fix this?

Apple sells a 30 pin to lightning pin adapter - you can find it on the Apple on;line store - or Amazon sell 3rd party one - but if it didnt works with your 4S which also has a 30 pin input - there may be something else wrong

    Hi, racb -
Try resetting the PMU - Article #HT1939 - Resetting CUDA/PMU
Also, it may be time to replace the internal battery. Those batteries have an expected life of about 4 to 5 years; leaving the machine disconnected from live power regularly or for an extended period can reduce that time a lot. You can get a replacement at places like RadioShack for about US$18, cheaper on-line.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Macbook Pro unibody freezing up on startup after light water spill!!

    Hello Everyone,
I have a macbook pro that i bought last summer and after almost a month of using it i had a light water spill and now the computer turns on and before the login screen is supposed to come up the computer freezes, tried booting with safe mode i can see the mouse pointer briefly and then it goes right to sleep and wont wake back up, is it an obvious logic board problem?or could it be maybe something else?
    Thanks in advance!!

Some liquid has just spilled into your Mac. What should you do?
    Do
Immediately shut down the computer and unplug the power cord.
Remove the computer's battery if it's a portable Mac.
Disconnect any peripherals (printers, iPods, scanners, cameras, etc.)
Lay the computer upside down on paper towels to get as much liquid as possible to drip out.
Note what was spilled on your Mac.
Bring the computer into an Apple store or AASP as soon as possible.
    Don't
Don't try to turn it back on. Liquids can help electrical current move about the components of your Mac in destructive ways.
Don't shake the computer (this will only spread the liquid around).
Don't use a hair dryer on it (even at a low setting a hair dryer will damage sensitive components).

Connect to your TC with AirPort Utility, which should explain the problem.

  • What is the problem after water spill?

Hello forum. I recently spilt water on my macbook pro's keyboard. I dried it up and was using my mac once again. After a hour or so I went outside and when returned I found it off. Trying to turn it back on but no avail. The batter is good because the lights shown. The adapter flashes faint green and yellow when connected to mac. Why is that? My battery is good so I will not say to get another adapter/battery. Is my logic board dead or is it the dc board. The mac should be able to turn on without a dc board?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It may be too late now, but when you get a spill of any kind, you need to shut your Mac down and remove the battery and position your Mac upside down with the keyboard resting on a towel. leave the Mac off for several days so that any liquid can trickle out onto the towel. You do not want to put power to the Mac until it is bone dry inside.
However, water is probably the most innocuous stuff you can spill, and if you are patient and allow everything to dry thoroughly, your Mac may well run again without issue.
The problem with not going through this is that tiny droplets can wend their way deeper into the machine over time and eventually drip onto something else. So the Mac will work until a droplet works its way deeper and eventually hits something and causes a problem. I think this is what might have happened to yours.
Since the Mac won't start up at all, I'm guessing that a drop of water may have hit the left I/O Board, which is where the power adaptor plugs in. It is also under a lot of little holes, and a keyboard spill could have resulted in water going through some of these holes as well.
The best thing to do is to leave the Mac off for several days and see if it will start up after the water has completely dried. If not, then you may be looking at a new Left I/O Board, which fortunately is a lot less expensive than a logic board.
    Good luck!

  • Peculiar symptoms after water spill

I know there are so many of these questions, but I can't find one that has the same symptoms so I am going to post my question here:
I'm trying to figure out what happened to a macbook that had water spilled on it - I was not present for this incident, so I don't know if the computer was on at the time or how it was taken care of directly after it happened. All I know is that when the charger is plugged in, the green indicator light shows - however, if you press the button on the side that let's you know the battery status, there is nothing (not even one blinking light to say it is not charged). If you press the power button, you hear the drive ramp up for a moment and the light in the front comes on - then 1-2 seconds later it just powers back down and the light turns off, that's it.

You can never tell what sort of damage - or the extent of the damage - that a liquid spill may cause a computer. And it's impossible to diagnose exactly what's wrong without having an Apple tech test the machine.
SO, if I were you, I would take the computer to your local Apple Store or AASP and have them run diagnostics on the machine and an estimate for how much it will cost to fix. Unfortunately, these types of repairs can be very expensive and you may come out better just buying a new machine as liquid spills are considered accidental damage and will not be repaired under AppleCare.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
