PowerLook 2100XL scanner operation with Photoshop in OSX
I'm moving my PowerLook 2100XL scanner over to my new MacPro (10.6.2) computer. Does anyone have any experience in operating this scanner with Photoshop in any version of OS X...best driver, software, Photoshop plugin, etc?
Brief background...
I've had this scanner since OS 9.2.2 was the latest and greatest. When OS X came out, the manufacturer never issued a driver for the new OS...still haven't to my knowledge. I kept my older G4 with 9.2.2 just to operate the scanner. All other work done through newer G5. Scans acquired through Photoshop. Great scanner...outside of the lask of OS driver update. However, I now need to conserve space, and it looks like the G4 needs to go. Scanner needs to placed on MacPro.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
One of the reasons why many scanners don't plug in any more to Photoshop is because many of the scanner manufacturers did not support Intel with their software and, if you run Photoshop as an Intel-native application -- recommended for speed, it will not be able to work with a plugin that uses Rosetta.
I believe newer scanners may work just fine in Photoshop with a plug-in. You would want to look for Snow Leopard compatibility (though that does not necessarily preclude running under Rosetta in Snow Leopard).
The OP's scanner is specifically supported by Hamrick's VueScan.

Fastest option for HD expansion with Photoshop and OSX
Hey guys,
Of late I've noticed my Mac Pro Dual 2.0GHZ with 9GB of Ram is running quite slow, both the system and with adobe applications (CS3).
I suspect its due to my current hard drive status, 250gb drive with 80gb free space. So I was thinking of setting up another drive or drives to transfer media onto and leave the boot disc for apps only.
My question is, whats going to give me the best performance, as I want to use the new drive as a scratch disk for photoshop as well? I was thinking something along the lines of a RAID 0 with 2x250gb drives... Does that sound like the best option or should I go bigger?

There is a simple trick for doing this.
1. Uninstall all your photoshop CC & Edge Reflow CC. (Make Sure you delete all the folders in C: drive and temp files.).
2. Once after step1 Install photoshop CC & Edge Reflow CC Normally.
3. Now download the Edge Connect Plugin from
4. Once run the plugin and now you will find a reflow folder in your (applications folder on Mac) and in your (Program Files in Windows).
5. Open the folder " reflow/plug-ins/generator/ " and copy " reflow.generate " folder.
6. Now, Open Photoshop CC folder and go to plug-ins/Generator/
7. Paste the copied folder here and restart your Pc or Mac.
8. Now everything should be alright.

Hello. I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on a MAC with OSX LION. I also have Photoshop CS6 installed. When I double-click on a file in Bridge CC, it always opens in CS6. If I say "OPEN WITH Photoshop CC 2014", or if I drag the file directly to CC 2014 in the Dock it will open in CC. Since I like to double-click or hit return in the bridge, I am constantly having to wait until the file opens in CS6, quit CS6 an then open it another way to get it into Photoshop CC 2014. I tried to disable CS6 by hiding it, but then double-clicking Bridge did nothing. Any ideas why this is happening?
Check and adjust the File Type Associations in the bridge cc preferences.

Hi - for any photo, info in mountain lion shows a different file size than Photoshop does. I've tested with both CS3 and CS6 on 10.8.2 and get the same problem. This doesn't happen with CS3 and OSX10.4 or any previous versions of Photoshop and OSX. Anyone know why?
this one is actually a really rare symptom of a flaky connection to the ipod on a Windows PC. there's more going on in terms of hardware on nanos and 5th gens than in the earlier models ... so if the connection is flaky to precisely the right/wrong degree, itunes will see the ipod, but misidentify it as an earlier version of ipod.
tracking down the cause of the flakiness can be tricky ... as you already know ...
just checking. have you tried connecting with a different (known-good) USB cable? does that seem to have any impact on the rate of occurence of the problem? -
Help required with Photoshop Elements 4.0 this has been installed on my new Toshiba laptop with windows 8.1 for some 18 months and operating well. Now it will not open, message pops up saying “attempt to access invalid address” then “application not responding” Suggestions how to access would be much appreciated. Tks. Stuart
What is the size of your hard disk? PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine. Just a thought here.

Problem with operations on photoshop layers
I have a problem when I try to do some operations on the layouts like resize and rotate.
To reproduce the problem follow these steps.
Create a new creative suit extension project, select adobe Photoshop extended as csaw libraries.
In the testPhotoshop.run function put this code:

Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I have operating with CS4. Photoshop produces and error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"
Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
You can double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.

The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

An attempt to open a pdf file with Photoshop Elements (version 12) resulted in a pop generated by the Photoshop Editor stated "Impossible to execute this operation (opening file) because one of the specified colour is not managed". Is there any mean to adapt the file to make its reading possible?
Did somebody get the same problem?It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.

To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).

I've tried updating with the USB cord, updating wirelessly, downloading the drivers manually, installing them manually and every concieveable combination of the above. This is getting extremely frustrating and i'm ready to toss this macbook into a wall.
TLDR;
This is my first experience with a macbook and so far i'm finding the whole experience extremely difficult and disapointing. I felt that because of the hype, that macs were top of the line but i'm seriously considering ditching the mac and heading back to pc if this issue can't be resolved. -

I have used it with aquire, but only in flat bed scanning.
I am not able to use the film/slide mode anymore because the software that came with it is for 32 bit macine code.
Any ideas?I realize this isn't a direct answer to your question, but I have an Epson Perfection 1670 flatbed scanner. I plugged it into a USB port after installing Lion, and it works fine with both the Image Capture and Preview applications. ("FIne", for me - I don't have a need for slide/transparancy scanning. Image Capture recognizes the scanner can do it, giving two modes for transparancy scanning, but in a quick and dirty test a minute ago it didn't seem to work. Since I don't need the capability, I'm not going to struggle with it to see what I've done wrong.)

Any particular plugin or all of them? If Adobe Flash Player, try un-installing and then re-installing.

So I cannot scan my pictures, help. Windows 8.1 with HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer. Scanner works with other programs in my PC. Problem is PS12
I bought the Officejet 6500A Plus about one month and have experienced the very same problem. I tried to remedy this problem following suggestions in a number of different posts (static IP, router, firewalls etc), all to no avail. Last week I called support. The support I received by the tech over several hours and different days for a week was very good. However none of his suggestions corrected the connection issue. After today's recommended fix failed, he advised HP is aware of this issue with the 6500 and other affected printers. He claimed HP was working on a firmware upgrade. He did not know when the update would be provided. The tech also claimed HP acknowledged this problem in a written announcement. He agreed to email the announcement to me. I haven't received it. This has been the only problem I've had with the 6500
