PowerMac 7500 Two-page display

I recently had to move my 7500 while doing some room painting and after hooking it back up and getting it running, the monitor is now in a "two-page display" mode. I am using a Hitachi 15" display through a Liberty plug adaptor. I have tried everything I can think of to bring it back to a one page display, but to no avail. I haven't been able to find the set-up configuration for the Liberty switch settings, but to my knowledge they were not tampered with during the removal and reinstallation of the computer. Anyone have any ideas?

You pulled the plug. Your PRAM battery is dead, and your parameters are corrupted.
Reset the PRAM:
Hold down 4 keys at startup:
Command Option P R
touch the power key to start up.
continue to hold the 4 keys until you have heard the chimes 4 times.
Release the 4 keys and it should start up normally.
Buy a new battery.

  • Two page display of pdf created in InDesign CS4 js

Hi, I need to set page desplay for pdf created in InDesign to two page view and I couldn't find anything like that in OMV. I assume it will be setting preferances for Matadata. Would you be able to help me.
    Thank you.
    Yulia

    @Yulia:
You can set all "open"-options with Acrobat Pro and you can automate this with a batch process under "Advanced => Document Processing => Batch Processing".
Also there is a way to do that through pdfmark instructions inside a placed EPS. Documentation for doing a "Two-Up (Cover page)" with pdfmarks is not available in the pdfmarkReference_v9.pdf for the PageLayout-tag. And of course you have to use Distiller to get the pdfmarks working, no chance doing that trick with PDF export.
Here is the pdfmark-code for an EPS you can work with (found and adapted it from the "PostScript & PDF-Bible" by Thomas Merz and Olaf Drümmer):
    %!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0
    %%BoundingBox: 0 0 72 72
    %%EndProlog
    /pdfmark where {pop} {userdict /pdfmark /cleartomark load put} ifelse
    [ {ThisPage} << /Trans << /S /Dissolve >> >> /PUT pdfmark
    [ {Catalog} << /PageLayout /TwoColumnRight >> /PUT pdfmark
    %%EOF
Save the code as a plain text file with the ".eps" suffix. Place it on any page you want to print of your InDesign layout, write a PostScript file and distill it to pdf. You should get a "Two-Up" view when opening it in Acrobat.
Meanwhile (after doing a little research on the web) it seams that all possible "/PageLayout" parameter pairs are indeed documented, but not in the pdfmarkReference_v9.pdf, but in the PDF32000_2008.pdf on page 73:
SinglePage     Display one page at a time
OneColumn     Display the pages in one column
TwoColumnLeft     Display the pages in two columns, with odd-numbered pages on the left
TwoColumnRight     Display the pages in two columns, with odd-numbered pages on the right
TwoPageLeft     (PDF 1.5) Display the pages two at a time, with odd-numbered pages on the left
TwoPageRight     (PDF 1.5) Display the pages two at a time, with odd-numbered pages on the right
    Default value: SinglePage.

  • 100% zoom vs one/two page display

If I hit one page view, the text gets scrunched down to a hard to read level.  If I hit 100% zoom I see two pages.  What I'd like to do is see the document in 100% and then simply keep scrolling down.  It seems like Word 2007 really forces
you into a devil's choice:  two pages side-by-side, or a zoom to an unreadable level to completely fit one page on the screen.  Again, what I'd like to get is as much of one page as possible (and only one page), and 100% zoom.  Thanks.

Why are the developers unwilling to implement a solution to this problem, and instead just telling us helpless users to live with a workaround? All it takes is to push a non-critical update through Microsoft Update to fix this for everybody.
I'm pretty sure you have a big team of developers working on developing Microsoft Word. If I can think of all the possible solutions below just by myself, why can't that whole team come up with something ever better? Seriously?
Either: Provide a new option under
Word Options > Display > Page display options that says
"Prefer displaying single page in Print Layout view." with an information tooltip
    (i) that says "Word prefers displaying two or more pages in a row if the zoom level and the width of its window allows it. Turn on this option to force Word to always display a single page per row at any zoom level, regardless of available
    width."
    - The next solution may be better than this as at low zoom levels the small unreadable pages will be displayed as a continuous string instead of a grid.
    - You may even include a checkbox on the Ribbon to easily toggle this.
Or: Provide a new option under
Word Options > Display > Page display options that says
"Prefer displaying one page instead of two pages in Print Layout view." with an information tooltip
    (i) that says "Word prefers displaying two or more pages in a row if the zoom level and the width of Word's window allows it. Turn on this option to force Word to display a single page at zoom levels where normally two pages are displayed side
by side in a row. This option is most useful if you have a widescreen monitor, and it will not affect zoom levels where three or more pages can be displayed in a row."
    - This means when the zoom level is small enough to allow three or more pages on a row, Word reverts to normal behavior (but two pages must always be shown as one page).
    - You may even include a checkbox on the Ribbon to easily toggle this.
    Or: In the
Zoom section of View tab of the Ribbon, make One Page and
Two Pages buttons behave as toggle buttons. When
"One Page" is toggled on, always display one page no matter what the zoom level. When
"Two Pages" is toggled on, always display two pages unless the zoom gets too big. When
both are toggled off, use normal behavior.
    - Of course, don't allow both to be toggled on at same time.
If Microsoft ever puts me in the dev team of Word, I'm telling you a LOT of things will change. For starters, I'll listen to user suggestions and attempt to implement the good bunch instead of throwing workarounds at them and telling them to live with it.
Of course, that's not gonna happen coz I don't know why manholes are round and not square!

  • How to change Preview's Full screen default setting from "two-pages" to "continuous scroll"

I am using OS X mavericks on my mid 2013 Air.
I usually need to open multiple PDFs during my work and I prefer to put them all in full screen for easy swapping. I was able to change the setting which allowed me to open PDFs in "continuous scroll". However, the PDFs became two-pages display again when I put them into full screen and I can't find any setting which allow me to change the full screen default display mode. Is there a way to do it or it is simply not possible.? Could Apple just add an option for us to change it? Thanks in advance for any help.

You may also need to reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • How can I make some pages in a PDF display in single-page view and others in two-page (facing) view?

Exactly as it says on the tin. I am looking to save a PDF magazine/book layout in such a way so that when opened, only the front and back covers open to the viewer in single-page mode, and the rest of the pages in two-page facing mode, without re-printing the in-between pages in booklet format  and re-inserting them into a new PDF (with the front and back covers left separate and untouched, and included as single portrait-orientation pages). This is so that individual pages can still be printed (on a physical printer, not a "virtual" one like a PDF driver), as-is without having the page next to it included, or the printouts always requiring landscape orientation (resulting with two "pages" from the PDF showing up on one sheet of paper).
So when the PDF is opened, I want just the front and back cover to be auto-viewed by themselves, and the content (the "meat" of the document) viewed side-by-side, as though one were actually reading a "book" -- but without actually re-doing the content pages to be "fused" side-by-side. Thus creating the "illusion" that they are, in fact, in booklet form. Is this possible, to have different page-display settings for different pages/page ranges in a single PDF? If so, how is this done? If not, what would be my best course of action otherwise to achieve this "virtual" book layout, while still retaining the "physical" structure of the document and allowing individual pages to be printed by themselves rather than "fused" together?
Using Acrobat X Pro on Windows 7 Pro SP1.

The best you can do practicably is the 'two up with cover page' view mode. The first page will appear singly but not centered, and to get the last page to behave it would have to be a folio sheet.
It's theoretically possible to use JavaScript to reset the view mode as each page is changed, but it makes for a nightmare of usability (what if someone on a smaller display wants to use 'fit to width'? Not an option if JS keeps overruling it). Anything involving JS won't work on non-Adobe software or mobile devices.
Not a programmer by any means, so I won't be using JavaScript because I wouldn't know where to begin. I was thinking more in terms of an option I could adjust in the menus or dialogues.

You can increase the font size and automatically page view changes. Go to menubar; Reading -> PDF View or Epub Text Size (depending upon the ebook) and increase the size.

  • How to display the first page alone first and two pages (back and front) then ?

    Hi
    I use acrobat 9 (beginner).
I have a document which should be displayed "as a book", ie two pages on the screen at the same time, the back of the first sheet and the front of the second one.
The problem I have is to manage to display the cover sheet as a single page (alone) and then to have the dual page layout as described above.
How could I do that ?
    Thanks for your help

  • How to have Safari remember PDF display preference (two pages continuous)?

I am using the built-in PDF viewer in safari and every single time I am a opening a link or document I have to right-click and choose "two pages continuous" (or at least zoom out) to obtain suitable display preferences.
Is there a way to have Safari remember the last-used or preferred display settings for PDF? All recent versions of Safari (including Yosemite) have this problem.
    Thank you so much,

    Thank you most kindly Aandi,
Exactly!! It boggles my mind sometimes ... I'm reading manuals all day long, running a dozen complicated applications (making movies, music for movies, and now 'books'), and my brain did not register the most obvious ... a dozen times I scanned that menu item. Tick, tock.

  • Can Pages display two windows of the same document?

Can Pages display two open windows of the same document? In editing my book and looking for duplications of stories or material, it would be very helpful to see side-by-side windows. Is this possible?

    Peggy
    They must have misread your:
"Please may I have multiple views of the same document."
    as
"Please delete 90 features from Pages and mangle any old documents it opens."
An easy mistake anybody could make.

  • Viewing two pages on 23" display?

I cannot figure out how to see two pages next to one another
on a 23" Cinema display. I have zoomed out and enlarged the Pages window to fill the screen, but still get only one page
on the left side of the screen.
If someone has a suggestion I'd appreciate hearing. Thanks.

Yes, Peggy. It's nice to have the extra room for the inspector.
With Pages I miss the ability that Word gives me to have a legible overview of about 6 pages. On really long documents, I like being able to view an editable layout of a large chunk of pages (not just a strip of page thumbnails down the side).
A 23" display is perfect for viewing 10 or 24 or more pages to see the flow of chapters. This bird's-eye view really helps me as a writer. I can do it in Word, but not Pages. Naturally I don't want to do all my writing with things zoomed that small, but it's indispensable for viewing.
Analogy: In astronomy, I prefer binoculars to a telescope because they show a quicker overview of the sky, with a lot in the field of view. A telescope is like looking through a drinking straw and it's harder to find objects.
I guess I'm a right-brained Mac user who wishes he could see a multiple page overview. I would think that would also be really useful for scanning the layout of multi-page newsletters and things from the other Pages templates.

  • How to display booklets with inside pages in two-page view?

Okay, I have a newsletter or other booklet-style document that I'd like to have appear with the inside pages in the two-page view.  How do I accomplish this in Adobe Reader X?
    Thanks

    Hai,
When ever a page break oocurs top of page will trigger.
To achieve two top of pages follow the below logic:
    <b>DATA:
      W_FLAG TYPE I VALUE 0.
    TOP-OF-PAGE.
    IF W_FLAG EQ 0.
       WRITE ITAB 1 HEADER.
        W_FLAG = 1.
    ELSE.
       WRITE ITAB 2 HEADER.
        W_FLAG = 0.
    ENDIF.</b>
It is better to change W_FLAG  = 1 WHEN itab1 contents are over.
and similarly to 1 when ITAB2 are over.
    NEW-PAGE OPTIONS.
    Hope you got it.

  • USB 2 combo Card on Powermac 7500

    Hi,
I have a PowerMac 7500 running 10.4.11 with XPostFacto. Basic setup is as follows:
    -Sonnet 1Ghz G4
    -1GB RAM
    -ATI Radeon 9200
    -Generic USB (1.1)
    -Generic Ethernet card (10/100)
The setup works very well. However, I have been looking to replace the USB card with either a USB2/FireWire combo card (preferably) or just a USB2 card for that machine. (I want to connect an iPod at USB 2 speeds, and an external FW drive). However I don't really need the FW if combo cards are not recommended.
    The question is:
    - Is the 7500 able to handle USB2 reliably under OSX? (I know OS 9 only supports USB1, and I don't use it anyway). I have been looking on the internet but haven't found a clear answer to that. Many people report using USB2 combo cards and having system lockups, or having to stick to 1.1 speeds when connected to PCI Legacy Macs.
    - If it is indeed possible to have the 7500 use USB 2 reliably, which card can I find on the market today? I have been looking but apparently they are really hard to find for 1rst gen PCI Macs.
The X Post Facto forum is pretty vacant these days, so I figure maybe someone here can give me a hand.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Silversorcerer,
Thanks for your thorough reply. I've heard about the Tempo Trio card, but, like you say, it's no longer available for Mac. All other USB 2 and combo cards that Sonnet sells are supported from the B&W G3 onwards.
I can tell you for a fact the Sonnet Tango 2 (Firewire/USB2) is not supported. I bought one. The USB works for mice and keyboards, but any other device which requires USB 2 locks the computer within seconds of use, even when connected to an external power source. Firewire works. Sonnet states on it's page that the Tango 2 requires a Powermac G4 or G5. I thought that this was just a decision from Sonnet to stop customer care for previous macs but I was wrong. Even though the card holds exactly the same name and part number, apparently the one I have is a new revision which is physically different.
I've been reading up the posts at X Post Facto, and there are other cards that may work for USB 2 ( SIIG, and ADS DLX-180) but those posts are a few years old and I am not sure if they are the same or they have also been revised. The manufacturers state the cards require at least a B&W. I've also read people buying PC only cards and having no problems when installed on PCI legacy macs, but those posts are from 2006.
Bearing that in mind I wanted to know if anyone has tried any USB2 card available today that worked with the 7500.
I have a Samsung Flat Panel 19" which I have been using with the Radeon 9200 for more than 2 years. I don't know about Cinema displays though.
X Post Facto has always worked flawlessly for me. I have the original 1 GB drive that the computer came with and have OS 9.2.2 installed on it (using OWC's 9.2.2 patch). I also have a Quantum SCSI II 8GB Drive with 10.4.11.
For me, the installation process was quite easy: under OS 9 I downloaded XPF 4, inserted Tiger CD1, and chose to boot from it with XPFs' control panel. I got to the installation window and proceeded with no problems. I had to use the built in ethernet port to connect to the Internet and download the software updates from Apple and the drivers for the ethernet 10/100 card.
I also installed PCI Extreme which allows Quartz Extreme to be enabled with the Radeon 9200. It makes a huge difference in video performance. Core Image on a 7500 as far as I know is not available. People have flashed PC NVIDIA cards and have gotten Core Image on pre-AGP Macs but not on Old World Macs.
I also installed Sonnet Cache to enable Level 2 and Level 3 cache on the processor upgrade.
It's amazing how expandable my 7500 has proven to be. I don't know how easy it is to get XPF running with your configuration, but I would definitely give it a try. 10.4.11 works perfectly on the 7500, including classic.
I'll be glad to answer any question you may have with my config and my experience with XPF.

  • In two page view preview shows the first page on its own

In two page view preview shows the first page on its own. I have recently downloaded an ebook which has image based tutorials and the pages are in such a way that pages 3 and 4 should be seen next to each other. Preview seems to want to have pages 1 on its own therefore making this rather difficult. Any help on resolving this issue would be appreciated.

Try selecting the first page, and then from the "Edit" menu select "insert blank page". This should put a blank page at the beginning of the document, shifting all pages down one and putting them in the order you want for your display.
