Powernap consuming lots of power?

Hi all,
This morning my Mac (Retina) was 100% and the lid was closed.
8 hours after, I open the lid and it's now 91%.
Anybody experiences this power drain? ... and is it powernap?
Thanks!
Mojo

Hmmm weird ... powernap is turned off on my Mac when on battery. What is using power then?
Very annoying that MacBook Retina doesn't have a power led .. I can't see if it's sleeping or not.

  • Component controller is consuming lots of memory

    Hi All,
I have an WebDynpro application and a component controller (MyCompController) too where I have written most of the business specific code. The basis team informed that the component controller (MyCompController) is consuming lots of memory.
Could anybody suggest me how to takle this problem. I dont have any other details and I am new to handle this kind of activity.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Patana

    Hi Patana
Your controller can consume lots of memory because of lots of unnecessary data is loaded in advance and do not used actually. Try to analyze the following points:
    1. Unnecessary data is loaded into the context nodes in advance. Do not load all the data into the context in wdInit() method (do not fill in all the models too). This is not the right way. Instead try to use supply-functions for each context node with data. Supply-function will be called by Webdynpro automatically only when the data is actually required to be shown on UI.
    2. Unnecessary embedded Webdynpro components are created and loaded in memory in advance. Do not create embedded Webdynpro components manually in wdInit() method. Instead try to setup component usages with Create Mode option = OnDemand. Then Webdynpro will create the components automatically when this is really required.

Flash builder 4.7 consuming lot of memory in VMware VDI environment. When we debugg the application then it is throwing out of memory exception. We need to close and relaunch Flash builder IDE numerous times. Can you please help us with setting changes we need to make for flash builder or VMware VDI environment so that we can resolve this issue?

    Hi Atul_Saini,
So I checked your link and all seems correct on my computer.
At the bottom of the link you provided there is "see also" section, about activation / deactivation.
I did not deactivated my licenses before my window re-install, and if now I go to Flash Builder -> Help , desactivation button is greyed out. Could it be the source of my problem that I used my licenses on two computer and did not deactivated them ?
If yes, how could I deactivate thoses products ? I searched on my profile but I can't find a way to do it.

  • USB consuming too much power -notice

I get all the time notice/warning that: "USB-device is consuming too much power. Hub/concentrator which the device is connected will be shut down." During this writing I got the notice three times.
I don't have anything connected to my Macbook Pro (bought year 2006), not even mouse, just power wire.
What to do? I don't see any difference after the notice (that something has been shut down). It is just popping up all the time and makes working with the computer really annoying. It might be related situations the when computer is moved, or something.
Can I swich some USB-port/device off? Thank you in advance already!

I had the same problem which arose just after I lost an external hard disk (Lacie 1 Tb started to make loud clicking sounds). I'm not sure whether I lost the hard disk because the break down of the USB-ports or whether I lost the USB-ports because of the break down of the hard disk (?).
Either way I get the same warning and after resetting the SMC and the PRAM I reinstalled the OS. Nothing of it helped. Instead I went to the authorised Apple service partner. And now it gets scary for real.
Apparently the USB-ports are an integrated part of the logic board (not just a card) and I need to get a new logic board to fix the USB-ports. Price 10.000 DKK. A new MacBook Pro will set me back 13.800 DDK (divide those figures by 5,8 to get US $).
I'm in some kind of chock. The MacBook is not yet 18 months old and works fine - except for the USB ports that I do need for connecting my camera, external hard drives and my iPhone......

  • Mkmapview on zoom in or zoom out consumes lot of memory

    Hello,
In my application i am using mkmapview as the main view and showing images (around 75 images) on the map by annotation.
on zoom in or zoom out mapview consumes lot of memory and after some time it recives memory warning then application gets crash.
    any suggestion for that.
    Thank u in advance.

Place the property node inside a case structure and enable it when the iteration terminal is "1". (not zero!)
And please place a small wait inside your loop, there is no reason it should spin that fast. (Since the data never changes in your example, the entire graph terminal and inner loops belong outside the main while loop. However, I assume that your real application is different )
NOTE: you could also use the "first run?" primitive or enable it when [i]=0, but in this case you would need a small sequence structure to ensure it happens after ther graph terminal is written for the first time.
Also note that xy graphs take complex data, simplifying the wiring and data structures.

My Current grooming settings for Operationsmanager DB are as below.
Can any one help me in how do i reduce this space occupation please ?

    1) You may refer to the following SQL statement to find out the lare table query of operations Manager Database and Operations manager DataWarehouse.
    SELECT TOP 1000
    a2.name AS [tablename], (a1.reserved + ISNULL(a4.reserved,0))* 8 AS reserved,
    a1.rows as row_count, a1.data * 8 AS data,
    (CASE WHEN (a1.used + ISNULL(a4.used,0)) > a1.data THEN (a1.used + ISNULL(a4.used,0)) - a1.data ELSE 0 END) * 8 AS index_size,
    (CASE WHEN (a1.reserved + ISNULL(a4.reserved,0)) > a1.used THEN (a1.reserved + ISNULL(a4.reserved,0)) - a1.used ELSE 0 END) * 8 AS unused,
    (row_number() over(order by (a1.reserved + ISNULL(a4.reserved,0)) desc))%2 as l1,
    a3.name AS [schemaname]
FROM (SELECT ps.object_id, SUM (CASE WHEN (ps.index_id < 2) THEN row_count ELSE 0 END) AS [rows],
    SUM (ps.reserved_page_count) AS reserved,
    SUM (CASE WHEN (ps.index_id < 2) THEN (ps.in_row_data_page_count + ps.lob_used_page_count + ps.row_overflow_used_page_count)
    ELSE (ps.lob_used_page_count + ps.row_overflow_used_page_count) END ) AS data,
    SUM (ps.used_page_count) AS used
    FROM sys.dm_db_partition_stats ps
    GROUP BY ps.object_id) AS a1
    LEFT OUTER JOIN (SELECT it.parent_id,
    SUM(ps.reserved_page_count) AS reserved,
    SUM(ps.used_page_count) AS used
    FROM sys.dm_db_partition_stats ps
    INNER JOIN sys.internal_tables it ON (it.object_id = ps.object_id)
    WHERE it.internal_type IN (202,204)
    GROUP BY it.parent_id) AS a4 ON (a4.parent_id = a1.object_id)
    INNER JOIN sys.all_objects a2  ON ( a1.object_id = a2.object_id )
    INNER JOIN sys.schemas a3 ON (a2.schema_id = a3.schema_id)
    WHERE a2.type <> N'S' and a2.type <> N'IT'
    2) Moreover, your query return that the suddndly increase of DB siza came from performance data and you may use the following queryto find out which rule generated a hugh mount of performance data.
select r.rulename, count(*) from performancedataallview pv
inner join performancesource ps on pv.performancesourceinternalid=ps.performancesourceinternalid
inner join rules r on r.ruleid=ps.ruleid
    group by r.rulename
    order by count(*) desc

I have seen cases where JSPM consumes lot of CPU resource . Do you have any JSPM session open . IF yes try closing it.

    significantly?
Very insignificantly... to such a tiny degree that it's not an issue.
    2. If we found a program that equalize (ROCK for
example) all mp3 before copy to iPOD, it discards EQ
    on iPOD to improve power?
    Good idea???
If that's what you want, then I guess it's a good idea. Be aware that raising the eq level also increases the volume. iPods distort extremely easily when the volume going into the amplifier exceeds a certain level.
Once you've run your eq software, be sure to use a piece of software called mp3gain on your files after you do your eq. It will analyze your files and completely losslessly adjust the volume, without even modifying the song bitstream data - magic! This software can handle mp3's by default, and AAC files if you add something else.
    http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
But before anyone else thinks of running mp3gain on their mp3's or AAC's... DON'T do it for files that have already been imported into iTunes if you use the 'sound check' feature!!!!!!

  • Mail consuming excessive processor power

In the last day or two, Mail is consuming between 60-85% of CPU power according to activity monitor, causing the processor to run hot and the fan to cycle up to high.  Mail has crashed a couple of times, too.  I recently moved a lot of old messages to archives and synchronized all accounts.
I am currently running two accounts on Mail, iCloud and my work Exchange account.  My system admin at work reports no problems with the Exchange server.
    Any help is appreciated!

Has this issue been resolved?  I'm having the same error and problem and would be interested to learn more.
Linc Davis... if it helps, here are the lines from Console before, during, and after deleting the cache.db file in com.apple.mail folder.  Mail is now working well at CPU% < 1% at idle and jumping up to 38% to fetch a new mail message.  This CPU% problem happens often.  Is there a way to resolve the issue or will this process of closing Mail and deleting the cache.db file have to be repeated regularly?
    Thanks,

  • Safari Consuming All CPU Power

I just recently noticed that Safari seems to be taking a lot more processing power while browsing.
When I click on a link, the fans start spinning faster, the little colored wheel cursor appears and I can see in Activity Monitor that the CPU usage for Safari goes to 100%.
This happens every time I click on a link. It even happens if I hit the back button. It happened while I was typing in the post, since My Yahoo web page automatically refreshed on another tab.
As you can see, I have a dual Power Mac G5 2.5 GHz with 4.5 MBytes of memory.
This just started happening yesterday. I've never seen this before. From my previous PC days, I would say that I picked up a virus or some kind of Spyware.

Over the last several weeks, I too have been noticing Safari taking up more system resources than it had in the past. I upgraded to Tiger the day it came out (from 10.2) and only began noticing this problem in early August. Not only have I seen an increase in CPU usage when running Safari, but I've also seen an increase over time of RAM usage. When I restart, RAM usage is under 30% with iCal, Address Book, iTunes, Mail, NetNewsWire, and a weather app running. Later that day after having browsed and done many other actions with only those basic apps running, RAM usage stays at or slightly above 50%. It often pegs out at 65% and again after restarting and re-opening those apps back up with the exception of Safari, RAM usage remains far below 50%. With my meager 800mhz processor, and all the memory leaking and CPU hogging going on, the fan is running much more frequently than it should.

  • Opening VI and consuming 100% CPU power

I am trying to debug my VI. The first few times the VI ran well but suddenly the VI hang up. I have no choice but to end the LabView process using the Task Manager. When I try to restart this VI again, it fails to open and the Task Manager indicates that the LabView program is now consuming 100% of the CPU time but still fail to open this VI. Looks like it is entering into an infinite loop. I cannot fix anything for I cannot go into my VI to change anything. LabView just consumes all the CPU power and do nothing. What went wrong?
    Regards,
    Larry

Okay.  That is very strange.  I am seeing the same behavior.  (I have LV 8.2)
When I first downloaded the VI, it opened just fine.  If I did a saveas, closed the VI, and reopened the copy, I got 99% CPU usage.  I reopened the one from the message, no problem.  I left that one open and tried opening the one I had saved.  It said I already had one in memory by that name do I want to view the one in memory or replace?  I said replace.  When it opened to the block diagram, everything was okay.  But when I clicked on the window to view the front panel, that is when the CPU usage jumped up again.
So somehow the problem is associated with the FP.   Nothing looks particular wrong about your code.  The question is how did you manage to get a copy of the file that isn't causing problems when you open it?
I think you will want to recreate the VI from scratch.  You are able to view a copy to see whay you have which is good.  And it doesn't look too complicated.
What is interesting is that if I delete everything from the VI's block diagram (leaving nothing apparent on the FP), save, close, reopen, I still get the extreme CPU Usage.  It seems confined to LV, as I am still able to switch over and working within the browser to answer this message.
