PowerPC G5 itunes doesn't reconize iphone

My computer PowerPC G5  is running on OS 10.5.8 and itunes is up to date, but itunes doesn't reconize my iphone 4s anymore. When I plug in my phone my computer thinks it is a camera. When I open itunes it doesn't show up on the task bar.

Have to delete iTunes and all files associated with mobile device, then reinstall.

  • Failure to backup while updating 3GS to iOS5 - now iTunes doesn't recognize iPhone!

Hi, I'm trying to update my 3GS to iOS5. Working on a brand-new Macbook Pro with Lion 10.7.2. Made sure I had the newest iTunes (10.5), synced my phone, transferre purchases to the computer, backed up manually for good measure. Downloaded the iOS5 update with no problem, and started the update process. Seemed to be going slowly but surely through the "backup" step of the update process. I left for five or ten minutes, and came back to a possible disaster:
    - computer had gone to sleep (guess I could have changed preferences, but I assumed that the update-in-progress would keep the computer awake)
    - iPhone screen shows the "plug USB into iTunes" graphic
    - when I woke up the computer, it showed an error message - upgrade failed. I'm pasting the text from the iPhone Updater Log below... it ends with "Restore Error 2009."
    - iPhone no longer shows up as a device in iTunes (or iPhoto). Tried closing and opening iTunes, disconnecting and reconnecting iPhone from USB port, and moving to second USB port. None of these worked. iPhone screen continues to display the "connect USB to iTunes" graphic. I found some relevant lines in the "all messages" log - pasting those below too.)
Anything I can do, short of bring both computer and phone to the Apple Store? (The phone is past warranty but I have AppleCare for the new computer)
Does the failure to back up mean that there is no previous backup I can get to? Any way to check if there's a working backup on the computer without it recognizing the iPhone?
All my apps, contacts, calendar items, music and photos are on my computer, so at least it seems that my data is not all lost. But the phone-to-computer connection doesn't seem to be coming back. Wonder if restarting computer could get it to recognize iPhone, but afraid of doing any more damage.
    Any help appreciated! Thanks,
    Adam

    Hello again, GiannisFromAthens.
At this point, considering that the primary issue is with getting the Windows update resolved, we need to get that taken care of first. To do so you may need to consult Microsoft, or whoever supports the installation of Windows on your computer, for more troubleshooting to resolve it.
Once that is resolved, if you are still experiencing the issue, you may find better information by using another of Apple's Support resources at https://expresslane.apple.com/GetProductGroupList.action for a more hands on response.

  • ITunes doesn't recognise iPhone after switching back from Windows 7

    Hi all,
I've searched Google and this message board for this issue, but haven't found any mention of it.
    Here's the problem:
I have Windows 7 installed on a boot camp partition. Any time I switch into Windows 7 and then back to Mac OS X (latest version of Snow Leopard) iTunes (both 9 and 10) refuses to recognise my iPhone, meaning I can't sync or transfer any files to my iPhone 4.
The only way I've found to solve the problem is to reinstall iTunes, which is really not a good solution. Rebooting into OS X from OS X doesn't work either.
Has anyone else come across this issue and/or found a fix for it?
I don't use iTunes on Windows 7, or even have it installed (although I did try installing it to fix this problem, and that didn't work either)
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks
    Paul

  • Itunes doesn't see iphone on ios 7

    Running 7.0.4 on iPhone 4S, Windows 7 64-bit with iTunes 64-bit version of 11.1.3.
iPhone was previously detected by iTunes prior to update.
A second iPhone 4S running iOS 6 is consistently detected without any problems.
I have already tried all solutions given on this support page (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538) to no avail.
In device manager, no x or ! shows up.
    iTunes already on latest version.
Tried multiple USB cables, all genuine. Tried multiple USB ports, all working but iPhone still doesn't show up.
Apple Mobile Device Support is definitely installed. Tried reinstalling AMDS and iTunes. Tried restarting AMDS. No good.
Tried installing driver from Common Files directory.
No software changes between iOS 6 and iOS 7 update. No possibility of third party software conflict.
Note: was able to restore the iPhone to 7.0.4 from 7.0.2 on my MacBook Pro so there's nothing wrong with the phone or cable. This is not a viable long term option for me, since the MBP is a work computer.

  • ITunes doesn't sync iPhone.

Hi! I just bought a refurbished 2010 Macbook Air off the Apple website.  I have the newest version of iTunes and it has been working very well.  But now, whenever i try to sync my iPhone, it doesn't work.  I just bought a lot of new songs, on the Macbook and now i can't get them on my phone.  I tried restarting my phone and closing out all the apps, nothing is working. Please help me out, Thanks!

    Check the following:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
When everything looks correct, sync your phone.

  • Itunes doesn't recongnize iphone

my iphone doesn't appear in itunes. I have tried restarting my iphone. Restarting my computer and even unistalling and reinstalling itunes. Any ideas of what else i could do?

    Mccoy015,
When you uninstalled iTunes, did you do a complete uninstall of iTunes and all related programs as outlined in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
If you did, and the iPhone is still not being recognized, you can use MSCONFIG to disable startup items and see if a piece of software is conflicting with the iPhone:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
Also, have you tried your iPhone on any other computers to see if it's recognized?
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.
