PowerPC G5 support

So you no longer support PowerPC based Macs with iTunes 10.7, thanks for the past 17 years of true Apple support and commitment to all  your customers. A new iPhone 5? Think not, don't need a new Mac, nothing wrong with my G5 Quad, does everything I want it to.

I am still fine with my PowerMac G5 and the old MB and MBP, and since apples bad support behaviour i won´t buy any new apple hardware in the future. I mean 10.5. Leopard came out fall 2007 and the last update was around april or may 2011, so around 3,5 years of support, same for 10.4 and others. And now that iTunes 10.7 is no longer available for PowerPC ihttp://www.dict.cc/englisch-deutsch/decided.html decided, Apple no longer supports me so i no longer support them...
OK, they make their money with the hardware, but at least they could efford supporting a Version 5 years, after that i would be willing to pay for "extended support" to get at least security updates...

  • Can't open Illustrator CS5 because PowerPC not supported

Hi, I just purchased a brand new macbook pro OS X 10.8.2. I tried to reinstall my CS5 Design Premium Suite and all the apllications work EXCEPT Illustrator. The error message reads "You can't open the application "Adobe Illustrator CS5.1" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." This design suite is only a couple years old and my computer is brand new.... I assumed PowerPC was long gone. Is there a way to override this? I really need to be able to use my Illustrator!

Did you use the migration assistant to move over your software or is this a fresh installation?

Can I use my older PowerPC applications with the Yosemite 10.10 operating system? In particular, Adobe Creative Suite and Logic Pro. Thanks!

    Yes!
As Niel points out you can continue to run Adobe Creative Suite in Snow Leopard Server installed into Parallels for use in Yosemite. Logic Pro may be a problem for a different reason, which version is it?

  • When I try to install Photoshop CS2 I receive a message that PowerPC is no longer supported.

    Hi,
I bought a new laptop to my company to work at, and now im trying to install Photoshop on it.
Since my last 2 versions of Photoshop have been upgrades and i only have the full version of PS2.
I've been trying to install the PS2 but it keeps telling me "You cant open the installer cause PowerPC-program no longer is supported".
So i've been trying to download it via ur homepage instead (yes the products are registered).
But i cant seem to find any way to download my product from ur page? I've checked all over ur homepage but without any luck.
Is it not possible to download a product from ur homepage that i've payed quite a fortune for????
Hope i can get a reply asap.

ToreHagman did you purchase a new Intel processor based Mac?  If so then the error message will be accurate.  Looking at the system requirements for Photoshop CS2 it appears it required a PowerPC based processor as opposed to an Intel processor.
You might also be having additional problems if you are using 10.7 as Rosetta/PowerPC emulation support was dropped in 10.7 as well.

  • How to load a PowerPC Application in OSX Version 10.9.5

Hey, I am studying and purchased a study disk.
Went to load it... Got Info Box saying:  "You can't open the application "install" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
Were, at one time,  PowerPC applications supported?
If so, I am at a loss on this or can I somehow use the study disk?  They will not refund or I would do that, now.
    Thank you,
    P Gregory

As Allan Eckert points out, through OS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard both PowerPC (PPC) and Intel software could be run on an Intel Mac like yours.
Since we don't know which Mac you have, we don't know if Snow Leopard can run natively on your computer in a second partition or on an external drive. However, it is possible to run Snow Leopard Server as a Virtual Machine within Mavericks using VMware Fusion, Parallels, or Virtual Box. Snow Leopard Server (Part number MC588Z/A) can be purchased from Apple by phone (800-692-7753) for $20 and you can install and use that to run your study disk.

  • Incompatible with Powerpc error

I recently purchased a new Retina Macbook Pro. I installed CS5.5 on it and I cannot open several of the apps (ie. Photoshop, Dreamweaver) because I am getting an error that says that they are no longer supported for powerpc computers. My computer is not powerpc. Does anybody know what I need to do to get things working again? Has this happened to anybody else?

This article is for cs3 and cs4 , but worth trying

  • Power PC not supported

I am sure this comes up often, so I apolgize for doing it again but here goes. Just got a new iMac, trying to install Logic Pro 8, and I get PowerPC not supported.
Is it impossible to install this older software into my new iMac?
I used Logic Pro 8 on my older MacBook Pro, And I would like to use it on my new desktop iMac. I believe it can be liscenced on 2 computers. If it is possible, please help.  If not, sigh...ugh, any suggestions, other than buying the newer Logic Pro 9. Thanks.

Lion does NOT have Rosetta. Hence Lion is no longer capable of executing PowerPC code which is what the error message is attempting to tell you. You are going to have to upgrade your software to a newer version that is written using Intel code. So there is no other suggestion other then buying Logic 9.

  • PowerPC not suported on brother HL-3070CW

PowerPC not supported on brother printer with cd rom to configure wifi.
Got a new modem, now I have no wifi on my brother HL-3070CW, installed new driver from brother website it still does not have a start button to begin configuring wifi.

Your printer is on the supported list of printers from the Apple Brother printer drivers support page - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL894. Should be as simple as installing the drivers, having both devices on the same network, and configuring the printer through System Preferences>Print & Scan.

  • My Mac Pro is constantly thinking.

I have a Mac Pro desktop that I use as my media center for our house. Often, it will start "thinking" (that clicking/ticking noise that you usually hear when it's starting an application or adjusting files) and won't stop for a VERY long time (last night it went on for about 5 hours). I have tried shutting down all applications that were open, I have tried looking at the Activity Monitor and have found nothing, and I have checked to make sure that there is no malware, yet the problem still persists. It is currently running OS X Lion with all the latest updates, however, this problem has existed on the machine with every OS version I've installed since Tiger.
Has anyone else had this issue? Found a solution? Aside from the constant noise being annoying, it really slows down my system which is not ideal when using this as a media center.
    Here are my machine's details:
    Purchased  Late December 2006
    Processor  2 x 2 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)
Any help that anyone can provide would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tim

you don't have enough memory for one
you should clone the system to a new drive, and have redundant backups
Lion? well 10.7.2 is probably okay. There is now no PowerPC code support
Use to be Disk Warrior was a must to maintain hard drives and directory

  • Is it not possible to create a PR with Fixed vendor without an Info-record

    Hi,
We have a requirement in which data necessary for PR(Purchase Requisition) creation ( replenishment orders ) comes from a legacy system and we use the BAPI -BAPI_REQUISITION_CREATE to create the PR's.
The problem is when we try to create PR by using plant in the field fixed vendor present in Source of Supply tab, we are getting the error message, "Inforecord for Vendor xxx and material xxxx does not exist ". This message is due to the plant given in fixed vendor field and missing info records. And we always use only "plant" as fixed vendor.
Is there any way to avoid the determination of info records based on fixed vendor?
    Thanks in Advance.

It is more than well known that Flash is not supported on the iPad or iPhone. Adobe officially threw in the towel even attempting to get a working player for mobile devices that one, doesn't chew up battery life; two, doesn't eat up so many system resources.

I don't understand the reply. This is the Power Mac forum. Is the real problem finding a PowerPC version of Flash and Adobe Reader? If so, Adobe dropped Flash support for PowerPC in February.
    http://lowendmac.com/ed/bashur/11db/powerpc-flash-support.html
How evil is this? Well, Apple itself no longer supports PowerPC in its last two major OSs, 10.6 and 10.7. So the problem here is a very old Mac.
There is an Adobe Reader for PowerPC.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5245
Adobe kept putting out PowerPC updates longer than Apple did!
Also, Adobe Reader is available for iOS, if that was part of the original question.

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch on iMac 10.7.5

PLease help! I tried everything with the Genius Bar at the Apple store and we can't figure it out.

  • Photoshop Elements 4 will not launch

I have installed Photoshop Elements 4 on my MacBook. Photoshop Elements 4 is a PowerPC app. (not Universal). From what I've read, it should open with Rosetta. But every time I try to open it, I get an error message: "The application Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly." I've uninstalled and installed several times.
I've tried going to File>Get Info so see if I could make this PowerPC app open under Rosetta, but that choice is not available under "General".
Is there any way I can use this non-universal program in my intel-based Mac?
I guess what I'm really asking is whether Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac (PowerPC) is supported by Rosetta (since it's not a universal application). If it's not supported, I suppose that means I can't use it on my intel-based MacBook.
    Thanks for the help.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Barbara---
I have had PE 4.0 running on my MacBook Pro 17" for about a year. Two days ago I tried launching PE 4.0 like normal and it fails. On the advice of Apple I tried creating a new account. The error message on install says a file is missing. It does not say which file. Installation continues until completed but PE 4.0 will not launch. I also trashed absolutely every Adobe file I could find, including preferences, repaired permissions, etc., reinstalled PE 4.0. Still no joy. I am running 10.4.9 with the last update about two weeks ago. PE 4.0 would lanuch and run fine until two days ago. Any suggestions?
    Thanks...

  • Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. How do I fix this?

I have just done an update installation and then when I checked in to my newsfeed I couldn't get any video.  Cannot play my favorite games either.  Not really a techie type.  Would like to get it fixed so life can return to normal on my computer.

Without knowing (for sure) what Mac computer model identifier
build year you have or the OS X version and step of system
installed within it, an easy answer is not so likely....
And if your computer is not an old (before Intel Mac era) PowerPC
G3 or G4 iBook portable, then you are really out there! LOL
Adobe has a fairly good help page, depending on what you really
have, some answers or links within it can help. There would be no
new-ish Flash players for any Mac OS X that can run on PowerPC
hardware supported systems. Answers need details to work with.

  • Getting some error on start up

Since I upgraded the OS to Lion, I am getting this error notice
"You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
What is this? And what do I do to remove it?

It means that this application is no longer supported as it has a PowerPC architecture, support for which has been discontinued in Lion. This software is normally installed when you have a Vodafone dongle.
How to remove it manually is quite nasty. Happy to post some tips but they are at your own risk, as I don't have the software installed. You can also rely upon Google as your friend: quite a lot of items on this one.
