PowerPoint 2013 Compatibility

SmartArt Graphics created in PowerPoint 2013 do not appear in Presenter. The only work around I've come up with is to take a screenshot and then insert that. It's a pain and am hoping that I can adjust some settings

I'm using PowerPoint 2013 with a Presenter Add-In.  The graphics are created in PowerPoint but when I go to convert into Presenter and upload, they are not visible.

  • PowerPoint 2013 - We're sorry something went wrong that might make PowerPoint Unstable

Windows 7 running Office 2013. Mature installation no recent changes.
Simple update to ppt file created in 2003 ( using Compatibility mode). Single user edit saving to my documents
Error Message "We're sorry something went wrong that might make PowerPoint Unstable" / "Please save your presentations and restart PowerPoint"
PowerPoint no longer allows me to save any file in any format without this message.
Actions taken : Restart PowerPoint / Reboots / Deletion of temporary files from C:/Windows/Temp
    Problem persists

I had this problem with Win81, PowerPoint 2013, pptx file, no system/software changes or updates that could be blamed. Out of the blue working on an existing document, messages as OP wrote started plaguing PPT. Brand new pptx files created with benign random
text also suffered from this. A save or two within the first 30 seconds of opening or creating the file sometimes went ok, but problem appears inevitably - implicating file lock issue.
There is remarkably little commonality in resolutions of this on the web, and no resolution from MS.
Tried many of the suggestions that can be found - no joy.
Finally isolated this to the live sync on DropBox.  If DropBox is active (immediately syncing changes in the background), the problem persists. If DropBox is paused, the problem ceases. DropBox does not need to be removed or exited. If unpaused, problem
immediately starts again. Have not been able to check if other syncing cloud drives have same effect.
What's disturbing is that the DropBox/PowerPoint combination on this machine has been working fine for 1+ years. Turning off DropBox is not an acceptable solution. Perhaps a silent update of one or the other occurred to cause this.

  • Creating a new chart in PowerPoint 2013 with Chart Styles applied

In PowerPoint 2013 when I manually insert a new chart into a slide, the chart automatically has the Chart Style "Style 1" applied. This has the effect of setting the font sizes of chart labels to 12.
However, no Chart Styles are applied if I try to add a new chart to PowerPoint 2013 using the following C# code:
    var ppt = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.Application();
    var presentation = ppt.Presentations.Add();
    var layout = Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.PpSlideLayout.ppLayoutChart;
    var slide = presentation.Slides.Add(1, layout);
    var shapes = slide.Shapes;
    shapes.AddChart();
Font sizes seem to default to 18. Is there any way to create a chart or to set Chart Styles using Interop so that it matches a chart produced manually (i.e. has Chart Styles applied)?
I am aware of the Chart.ChartStyle property but it only seems to change chart colors and legend placement, not font size. There is no Macro recorder in PowerPoint, so I can't generate VBA code to replicate the action of creating a new chart.

    Hi
    >> there any way to create a chart or to set Chart Styles using Interop so that it matches a chart produced manually (i.e. has Chart Styles applied)?
You can add using shapes.AddChart2() instead of the last sentence shapes.AddChart(), I have tested in my projects, if I using AddChart(), the label size and the space will be different from manually insert a chart into a slide, but AddChart2() is the same
    with manually operating.
And This object, member, or enumeration is deprecated and is not intended to be used in your code.

  • Unable to edit Visio 2013 drawing in Powerpoint 2013

    Hello,
I'm unable to edit drawings created in Visio 2013 that I've embedded in Powerpoint 2013 - they copy over as pictures and I can only edit them as such.
Interestingly, I CAN edit Visio 2013 drawings that I have embedded in Powerpoint 2002/XP.
I'm embedding by simply copying the drawing and then pasting on the slide.
    Thanks,
    Tyson

Open PowerPoint 2013, go to Insert tab > Object > Create a new "Microsoft Visio Drawing", I can edit the drawing what I wanna edit.
open Visio 2013, create a new Drawing File and save as .VSDX file format, and then drag and move this file into a new creaing PPT, I can still edit it as expected.
A bit more background information and your exact steps how you got to this point would be helpfu

  • PowerPoint 2013: New problem experienced in last seven days - Placeholders not taking objects Cut from them and attempted to re re-anchored.

    Hello,
I am running Office 2013 Professional Plus and in PowerPoint 2013 (15.0.4605.1000 64 bit) on Windows 8.
Ihave always been able to anchor content to placeholders (tables, text, images, and so on). In the last week this is no longer the case if an object has been anchored already.
For example, I have an existing slide with a Content placeholder, and a table anchored to it. I cut the table, reselect my placeholder to get the white handles, and attempt to paste. It will paste the table as it was, but it is no longer anchorable to a
    placeholder.
This is a critical issue for us as we are about to upgrade our corporate  brand/template and be required to upgrade thousands of documents and hundreds of thousands of pages of content.
Can anyone advise a workaround? This is my first post on MDN and apologize for any missing elements.
    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
Thank you for posting in the MSDN Forum.

  • How do I Update PowerPoint 2013 Slide Deck Preview Thumbnail?

I often copy previous presentations and revamp them for my next presentation. I notice that after changing the title slide in PowerPoint 2013 the embedded thumbnail.jpeg file is not updated. Ordinarily I would not care, but recently I am presenting to two
competing comanies and I cannot have the branding for one company on the presentation for another.
Short of completely recreating the deck, is there a way to force the update of the thumbnail.jpeg file in the PPTX?
    Thanks!
    Matthew
    Matthew McDermott, MVP SharePoint

OK, I discovered that You can go to Backstage and chose Properties | Advanced Properties | Summary | Save preview with picture. Uncheck and save then recheck and save and PowerPoint will refresh the thumbnail...unless it doesn't. Which was true for half
    of my decks.
    For those I:
    Renamed the file to zip
    Deleted the thumbnail.
Renamed the file back to PPTX
    Opened in PowerPoint.
    Let PowerPoint perform the repair.
Toggle the preview setting as above

  • Adobe presenter ads in not present in PowerPoint 2013

I am trying to use Adobe Presenter trough PowerPoint 2013, but it is missing from menu bar.
    How can get it?

Chances are it is because something crashed and, being good Windows users, we tend to just click OK on every dialog that comes up.  This will disable the Presenter Add-in. To re-enabel it, follow the steps listed here, Presenter 7 add-in disabled itself in PPT 2010 can't enable it.

    kb2817636 & kb2837627
As i said at the start, members of the Power Uses or Administrators group don't have this issue - but as 99% of our users are "users" and not really an option to make them all members of PU group.
Same also happens if the computer is removed from the domain.  Admin & power users work, standard users crash IE.
Uninstall and reinstall of Office 2013 and IE11 has no apparent difference.
    Assistance in this is appreciated.

  • Photo Album Insertion in PowerPoint 2013

After creating a default template to change the default slide size to 4:3 (rather than 16.9), PowerPoint 2013 continues to insert image files onto a 16:9 slides when using the 'Photo Album' tool -- even if the default 4:3 template is manually selected
from the drop down box.  Perhaps there is another default configuration file that is utilized by the Photo Album tool?

I found a slight workaround for this problem. I too changed my default theme/template and was disappointed when photo albums were still created in 16:9, and was then further disappointed by the fact that when you subsequently changed the presentation to
4:3 using 'Ensure Fit' (maximize not an option as it crops), the photos/images were absolutely tiny.
    In PowerPoint 2013:
Insert a photo album. Select all the pictures you actually want and click create
On the Design ribbon, press Slide Size and Select 4:3
Click 'Ensure Fit' because you don't really have a choice as Maximise crops images.
Frown in digust at the tiny images that now appear on the 4:3 slide
On the Insert Ribbon, hit the down arrow on 'Photo Album' and select 'Edit Photo Album'
    Click update
Your tiny images will now be resized to make the most of the new 4:3 slide format
(depending on what settings you chose in the 'Album Layout' section of inserting the photo album, e.g. Fit to slide)

  • Is anyone using Adobe Presenter 10 with PowerPoint 2013?

I was online with the chat support who was trying to help me solve my Adobe Presenter 10 addin in problem with Powerpoint 2013.  He had me remove the software.  When I went to reinstall, the browser logged me off the chat.   When I went back in, they were gone for the day.   Now I have no presentation which was due to be uploaded last Saturday!   Can anyone help?

    Hi Alpi,
After uninstalling Office 365 (powerpoint 2013 32bit) and reinstalling it , I was able to get the addin to work.
Before this I reinstalled Adobe Presenter 10 , 3 times without success.
I am using OS WIN 7
So this solved my addin issue.   It did not solve my issue with my presentation missing the audio files.    When I publish the presentation in HTML it opens in Firefox perfectly.    But when I go to send the packaged  OR zip files they are missing the audio files.   No where to be found  but it has sound in Firefox HTML.    In the end I copied the audio files from a folder I found , into the folder to share.  Then zip the file using Windows.
I won't know if it worked because the network administrator is not back til tomorrow.
Thanks for trying to assist me with this.   It has been a long day trying to resolve this issue.   I almost wish I had just redone the lecture in powerpoint and skipped the Adobe Presenter 10.   It may have taken me 2 or 3 hours.  But this is better than the 10 hours it took to deal with this issue.
    Have a good night

  • MS PowerPoint 2013 conversion fails.

Hi. I signed up for Acrobat (monthly). I uploaded an MS PowerPoint 2013 file to cloud.acrobat.com/convertpdf, and it says, "!Conversion Failure." I tried three times. I am traveling on business, presenting every day, and this is the absolute worst possible time for my computer not to work. Can you please help? Thank you!

    Hi Nazarene Israel,
You can only submit files up to 100MB in size to the Create PDF service.
What is your file size which you are trying to convert?
Does it occur with all files?
Please let me know which browser you are using and its version?
Have you checked with a different browser if possible?
Yes, you can try with Adobe Create PDF Desktop Printer as well and check if it works for you.
Please let us know if you require further assistance.
    Regards,
    Florence

  • Is there a way of copying from illustrator CC (mac) into powerpoint 2013 (pc) while using parallels?

Keeping it as a vector, of course!

What do you mean, 'how should that work?'
Do you know what parallels is? It allows you to use both operating systems (windows and mac) at the same time while using a Mac.
When I previously had illustrator on my windows, I could copy whatever shape or i had designed, from Illustrator into powerpoint 2013 without a problem. It comes in as a .emf which I can then scale, change colours, change the points in the shape.... all things vectors can do. Now I have to export it from illustrator as an emf and them import it into powerpoint to get the functionality that I need. It just adds an extra step to the process, but since i do this a lot it would save me tons of time. This blog post made me think there may me a patch available.

  • How to burn a powerpoint 2013 presentation to a DVD R and or USB flash drive.

My Powerpoint 2013 slideshow includes photo's, clip art with transitions and animations and embedded music.   I want to
burn this presentation to either  a DVD disk or a USB flash drive and send it to a friend.   My friend has a windows 7 desktop
computer and a DVD player attached to a TV.   Ideally I want to know how to burn the presentation to a DVD so that the presentation can be played back on the TV using the DVD player.    I do not want to lose any of the transitions
or animations when I burn the presentation to a DVD.          I know most TV's have a USB connection but have no idea how this works if the
presentation is copied to a USB flash drive.   What are my best options to keep the integrity of the presentation intact, and how do I go about doing this?   I need detailed instructions please.   Thanks in advance
    for your assistance.

    Hi,
The factor of keeping the integrity of presentation when you burn this presentation to either a DVD disk or a USB flash drive depends on performance of DVD disk and USB flash drive.
There are two ways to put PowerPoint presentation on a DVD convert PPT to video.
    1. Convert PPT Files To DVD is to use a screen capture software.
    2. Convert and Burn PowerPoint Presentation onto DVD would be to use a professional PowerPoint to DVD converter software.
    For more detail information:
    http://worldclassmedia.com/how-to-convert-powerpoint-files-to-dvd-put-a-powerpoint-presentation-on-tv/
If your TV doesn’t have built-in processors or Windows installed, it can’t run PowerPoint presentations in their native environment from a USB connectors. If so, you should convert it to video format first.
