PowerPoint 2013 Taskbar Always Shows in Slideshow Mode
After this weeks update my users are noticing that the taskbar does not hide during their slideshows. I have noticed this only happening on our Surface Pros. I'm not sure if this from a PowerPoint update or Microsoft's latest firmware update
for the Surface Pro. Does anyone else with a SurfacePro see this?
Hi
Open the PowerPoint presentation and click on Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show > make sure you haven't select
Browsed by an individual (window) > OK
Close and re-open the presentation and verify the result.
Since the problem arised after your recent updates, we would recommend you go to
Control panel>Program and features>View installed updates and remove your recent updates to check the issue.

How to prevent PowerPoint 2013 from mucking with my laptop display mode?
I have an EliteBook 8570p in a docking station, with an external monitor and keyboard attached.
I typically have my display mode as "duplicate", with the same thing showing on both my laptop screen and external monitor. I use the external monitor as the main screen. This might be uncommon, but I prefer it this way. I've
been working this way for quite a while.
I very recently started using MS PowerPoint 2013. Today I discovered an annoying bug (feature?) with this combination. I was in "slideshow mode" for a pptx I was working on, and I pressed ESC to get back to editing the doc. What
happened was that the external monitor just showed my background wallpaper, and the laptop screen showed the normal display, along with my background wallpaper. I then had to slide over to my laptop keyboard and press Fn-F4 and set it to "Duplicate",
and that restored my external monitor display.
I don't like this behavior. I also noticed that when I go into slideshow mode, the display on the laptop screen is different from what I see on the external monitor. It looks like it's showing an "intelligent" view of the slideshow, with
a big panel showing the current page, and the next page in a smaller panel. That's interesting, but I don't want it to do that if I'm in "Duplicate" display mode.
Is there a way to get the "older" behavior from PowerPoint 2013?Thanks Milan for the explanation.
And the mentioned option can be found by going to the "SLID SHOW" tab>"Monitors" section on the ribbon in PowerPoint 2013.

Powerpoint 2011 Crashes When Entering Slideshow Mode attached to Projector.
My MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 crashes every time I try to enter slideshow mode in Powerpoint 2011 if I am driving a projector. It does not crash if I enter slideshow mode without the projector, of if I connect to the projector but don't enter slideshow mode. I give a lot of presentations, so this is a real problem.
Confirm I have had the same problem with Office 2011 Powerpoint. Crash to unresponsive black screen, must force off with power button. 15" Mid-2010 MacBookPro 6.2 MC373C/A 4GB RAM and Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Began slowly/intermittently in July when I was working daily with the pptx. Was then crashing with a 2nd monitor attached going into slide show mode. Crash problem became more frequent over time.
Now the crash occurs with certainty in almost any configuration - slide show with 2nd monitor/projector, or without any monitor/projector or other peripherals attached, and with either the battery or 110v MagSafe power supply.
I have tried creating an alternate user account - and the problem again starts randomly and acelerates in frequency.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Office2011 for Mac as per MS instruction support pages. Same crash, on launch , when opening a file after launch, or when clicking onto a different slide if a successful launch does occur.
Powerpoint at this time and in this condition is unuseable.
Too bad because I have another presentation to prepare and give tomorrow, and I have already paid for and now depend on the MBP, and at this time the MSOffice2011 software.
If anyone has solved why this problem is occurring (I see it occurs frequently enough that similar questions appear in many forums) - please share your insights and a solution if you have one? ThankYou. -
VS 2013 Prof. edition always shows "Could not complete the action"
Hi all,
When I open any .ascx file VS2013 always shows alert, and when I close, it shows it again.
Could you help please?
Thanks.Hi Galym,
>>VS 2013 Prof. edition always shows "Could not complete the action"
According to your description, could you please tell if you get this issue when you open any .ascx files in a specific app or all web apps have the same issue?
So if possible, I suggest you can create a simple web project in VS2012 Prof and add a .ascx files under the web project and open it again check if you get same issue.
(1) If you get same issue in a sample web project, I suggest you can try the following suggestion to check this issue.
Step1: I suggest you can try to open these .ascx files in VS safe mode check if you install some Add-ins or extension tools in your VS2013 IDE.
Reference:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241278.aspx
Step2: I suggest you can try to reset your VS setting file by going to Tools->Import and Export Settings check this issue again.
Step3: If the above suggestions still could not work, maybe you will need to repair or re-install the VS2013 Prof check this issue again.
(2) If you just get this error in a specific app, I suggest you delete these .ascx files and then add new .ascx files for the specific app. Or you can directly to ask this issue to the web forum:
http://forums.asp.net where asp.net experts live in.
If you have any update messages about your issue, please free for me.

Powerpoint slideshow mode supports retina display?
Machine: Mid 2012 15" MBPro Retina
OS: 10.8.4 (12E55)
Application: MS Office 2011 14.3.5 (130515)
Problem:
In Normal view, the slides, text, images do show in crispy retina. However, most importantly in SlideShow mode, the slides all gone back to the blurry low resolution world!
I am not sure if it only happens to me as I am so surprise that people are comfortable and not a single thread complaining about the SlideShow mode low resolution problem for almost a year ever since then! I hope it is only my problem, since that means you have the solution.
Please help, as there are still areas of effects and flexibilities I needed from PPT over Keynotes (even I have been switching over ). And it is hard for me to convince my colleagues in getting a retina now and then. Thank you!People, I understand it is easy to reply without trying it by yourself and throwing in links. It would be nicer if you really understand the problem here.
@Galaxy Falls Your KB link was an year ago, and I know it stated it supports retina, but IT ISN'T!. Gosh. Current resolution? You using a PC? LOL
Anyway, aiming to keep this thread free of confusion and assumptions, here are the screens.
(UPDATED: Click on the images to show actual size, otherwise it looks crispy here after auto-fit!)
Screen resolution setting:
Powerpoint Version:
(You can already tell the pixelated logo. LOL)
In Edit mode:
In Presentation Full-screen Mode:
Since this forum will auto fit the images attachments and therefore the full-screen snap looks shape. Thus, below is a side-by-side comparison of the same pptx file in full screen presentation mode on PowerPoint (left) and Keynote (right).
Last shot, in presenter view:
By the way, I don't have time and not stupid enough creating a thread with faked screens. I just want to keep this thread with real problem, and real solution. Thanks.

Showing file names in Slideshow mode
Anyone know how to show the image filename in slideshow mode?
I often use Slideshow to help me pic out the strongest images in a set, but it would be really good to be able to see the file name so I could more easily remember them! Seems you can have the stars on ther, but little else, which is a shame
Thoughts?
thanks in advanceActivate Text Overlays in Overlays panel (right side). Click on ABC button on toolbar below image, choose Filename. Position and size as required

Why Visual Studio 2013 express edition always show repair or uninstall when I open it??
I don`t know why my Visual Studio 2013 express edition always show repair or uninstall when I open it??
I install it yesterday and it worked fine, but today when I open it, its says repair or uninstall all the time.... Anyone know why?
HellppppHi,
I think your VS may have been corrupted. I suggest you click "repair" to repair your VS.
If it can't solve your issue, please use ISO file to reinstall it.
If you used a web installer, please download the ISO file from the website.
http://search.microsoft.com/en-in/DownloadResults.aspx?q=Visual+Studio+Express+2013
Before you reinstall it,please use this tool
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the ISO. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file was corrupted.
The sha1 value of ISO could be found in "Install Instructions".
If you have made sure your ISO file have no problem, please reinstall it.
If you have any further question, please feel free to let me know.
Regards.

We are trying to play playlists and a slideshow from an Apple Macbook wirelessly to the Apple TV. The small, upward arrow icon that appears on the bottom right of the screen (which allows you to pick Computer or Apple TV) doesn't always show up, and therefore, we can't get it to work. Any thoughts?
Airplay mirroring software will not work with anything below Mountain Lion 10.8 and an Apple computer from 2011 or newer.

Go to "About this Mac" and tell us:
1. What OS X version you are running
And then click on "More Info" and tell us
1. What year is your Macbook.
Also tell us a little about your cable and Wireless setup.

Set "always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" via Group policy
Any ideas on how to set "always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" on a set of users?
I thought it would be under User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar, but I cannot find it.
Anyone know if this can be enforced via policy?Hello,
Thank you for your post here.
Unfortunately, there is not any group policy settings which can set "always show all icons and notifications on the
taskbar".
To distribute the setting, you can create a default domain user profile and copy it to the following network share.
When the domain user account is first logged onto the domain, the default profile will be applied.
\\<Server_name>\NETLOGON\Default User.v2
How to customize default user profiles in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2

This would only apply if a new profile is created, not for existing ones. -
Change presenter note font size and edit notes in slideshow mode
Hi, I just switched to Keynote 5.03 and am still learns its features. I have some questions about the slideshow mode of keynote
1. While in slideshow rehearsal mode with presenter notes showing, is there a way to zoom in on the notes to make the text bigger as you can in Powerpoint, which allows you to zoom up to 400%? This is handy: I can magnifying the notes without having to change its font size, hence no need to exit the slideshow mode.
2. Powerpoint lets you edit the text of notes on the fly during a slideshow ("view presenter tool" mode), is there a way to do this in Keynote?
3. The slide thumnails (allow you to jump to a certain slide) on top of the presenter screen are always very fuzzy, is it possible to increase the resolution to get a higher quality image?I believe that all of these are limitations of the current version of Keynote.

MTP Device.JPG 6 KBSame problem here. This is how you can make it go away.
Go to Control Panel > Taskbar & Start Menu.
Then on the Taskbar menu hit "Customize" That will show you the current items in your taskbar. You should have one that says "<no title>" - that is the MTP Device. Click on the "Hide when inactive" and change it to "Always hide".
Still, I don't think it addresses the issue directly so if anyone can tell us more about this problem it would be much appreciated.
Thanks. -
Cisco Jabber for Windows always shows "Away"
Cisco Jabber for Windows (9.0.1, CUPS 8.6.4, UCM 8.6.2, Exchange 2010) always shows status as "Away" for one user. Others seem to be working correctly showing "one the phone", "in a meeting", etc. Tried reinstalling client with no change. If you manually change to "Available", it changes right back to "Away". Anyone have an idea where to look (registry, logs, etc.)?
I am seeing the same problem. I haven't tried a different user to login on the same machine, but I did try closing my client on my primary machine (exited) and then logged in on a different computer with a fresh Jabber for Windows install.
I am running Jabber for Windows Version 9.0.2 Build 9453 on windows 7 64bit primarily, and Windows XP as the second test. Running CUPS 8.6.4 in HA over WAN cluster mode with CUCM 7.1.5 and Unity Connection 8.5.1 ES 16.
Phone presence information does still flow through when I pick up my phone hand set my status changes from Away to On a Call.
When I check the presence diagnostic test for my user, it also reports that I am away.
