Powerpoint 98 Viewer for default?

When I receive a .pps attachment, I click on it and a message comes up, giving choices and I click on 'Chose Application'. Microsoft 98 Power Point Viewer is an option I click on. OS9 Classic starts up (which takes 30 or 40 sectonds) and then Power Point Viewer goes into action and the pps opens up. If I open another pps within a few minutes or so, the Classic Startup action doesnt occur, and therefore the opening doesnt take as long as it did the first time but it is still a bother.
I get a fair amount of these .pps attachments and would like to know if there is a way to make the Power Point 98 the default so I dont have to go through the Chose Application route each time?
Hope someone can help me with this. Thanks.

At the risk of raising your temperature even higher I will attempt to explain that I HAVE been listening to the 'Greek Chorus' and HAVE followed the instructions as best I could. I have opened Get Info and adjusted it to make ppv the default which seems to work on a pps that is sitting on the Desktop. However it does nothing for a pps that comes in on my Mail program which is what I was talking about in the first place. I have recently upgraded to 10.4 from 10.2 and prior to the upgrade, pps files would open DIRECTLY from Mail without having to go throught the 'Chose Application' route. From what I can understand now, and from what you seem to be telling me, is that I would have to drag the pps from Mail to the Desktop in order to avail myself of the default that was set on Get Info.
I am not computer literate, that is obvious, but neither am I a dolt that doesnt try their best to follow helpful instructions given on this forum, and therefore the 'if we told you once......' is not called for.
Thanks to all who have given their assistance, I do appreciate it. Regards.

  • How to change default view for folders?

Whenever I create a new folder, the view always defaults to icons with the Sidebar visible. I want all newly created folders to open in list view, and I don't want to see the Sidebar. Can anyone tell me how to change the defaults? Thanks...

I'm not sure how to make it default, but I think you may be able to get rid of the sidebar for a whole session (you probably have to get rid of it again once you've restarted).
Just disable the sidebar by clicking in the little white ellipse/oval thingie in the top right corner of a new finder window. Then when you open new windows, or open folders in that one, they should all come up without sidebars, and in the same format. I hope that works for you, but honestly I don't know why you wouldn't want the handy sidebar

  • Changing the default view for Line Items in an Auction.

    Hello All,
We have a version 5 client who is asking for us to change the default view for line items in an auction.
Currently, if you have an auction setup, and you go to the Line Items tab, the default view is the "Basic View". The client would like to change the Default from "basic view" to "price view".
Is there a way to change this default in the system? Can this be configured using query groups? Any information would be helpful.

    Hi wood cloud,
This is not possible, bcz there is no VLV for that drop down and we cant set it  to the price view.
    Thanks,

  • Changing the default associated view for a related entity

    A question from a peer:
    Hey there
Do you know how in CRM 2015 to change the default associated view for a related entity?
Say you are in an Account and from the menu open the opportunities for that account.
That new pop up window states “Opportunity Associated View” I want to change that to “My Custom View”
I thought we covered this in class years back but cannot remember

There are a few ways to get what you want, the easiest being
Create a document as you want it for a particular site, save it is junk.php or similar and create a new file by saving as this as the proper document name such as index.php
Use the Dreamweaver template system, i.e. create a template with a .dwt.php extension like template.dwt.php and use that to create new pages.
There are other ways like creating your own php template system. But you can put that in the too hard basket.

  • How to configure and set a default view for contents of a data set

    Here is my scenario:
I have a document library where each item is a "Plan".  "Plan" is of a custom content type that inherits from a Document Set content type but has some additional attributes such as Plan Type.  Inside each Plan, each item is
a Plan Document which is of custom content type Plan Document which inherits from Document content type but has some additional attributes e.g. Document Status.
    So the hierarchy is:
    All Plans (document library)
Plan 1  (custom content type that inherits from Document Set but also has a "Plan Type" attribute)
Plan Document   (custom content type that inherits from Document but also has a "Document Status" attribute
When I click on the document library, I want to see all the folders (e.g. Plan 1) where one of the columns will be "Plan Type"
When I click on an individual Plan (e.g. Plan 1) I want to see the contents of that custom document set.  At this point, since this page shows contents of one document set, I want to see the column "Document Status" but NOT Plan Type since
Plan Type applies to the document set as a whole, not to an individual item in that document set.
However, I don't think I have it set up correctly because right now the "Plan Type" column is visible both on the list of all document sets AND on the page that shows the contents of one document set.
I've found a discussion on this topic here:
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/61565/how-can-i-set-a-custom-default-view-for-a-document-set
where one person said "When you click on a Document Set content type in library settings, one of the options is "Document Set settings". The last option in this dialogue allows you to select a defined view on the library that will be used
to show the contents of that Document Set."  I don't see that view selection.  The last item on the document set settings page is "Update List and Site Content Types".  The field before that is for customizing the Welcome page.
However, I don't want to customize the Welcome Page as a whole, I just want to customize the columns that are displayed on the list of content of this document set.
    thanks

    I finally found the answer:
At the document library level, create a new view to use when displaying the files in the document set
Go to the document library settings
Select your custom content type (in my case it was "Plan")
In the next screen select Document Set settings
Select your newly created view at the Welcome Page View section
    Press Ok
Now the default All Documents view will be shown when displaying all the document sets and the newly created view will be displayed when viewing one document set with the files within.

  • "I would like to know how to set the default view for the columns. Somewhere I read it could be done in by music icon under Library.  Can't find it.  Thanks

"I would like to know how to set the default view for the columns that are shown in iTunes. Every time I open it, I have to either go to the options, or right-click to get the pop-up options, and delete "rating" and add "composer." I'd really like to just do it once and be done with it."  Somewhere I read you could do this by clicking on the Music icon under LIBRARY then arramge the columns.  Trouble is, I can't find a Musi Folder or icon in my user library.
Any help would be appreiated.  OSX 10.9.2  iTunes version 11.1.5  Thanks!!! CW!

From the iTunes menu bar try View>Show View Options.  Make sure what you want to see is checked and what you don't is unchecked.  You can do this (may need to do this) for any playlists, your main Library, etc.
    Good luck

  • Default pdf viewer for Digital Booklet

I have Adobe Reader 8.0 on my computer as my default viewer for Acrobat documents. I also have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional installed, which I use to create pdfs. When I click on a digital booklet in iTunes, it opens with 6.0 with an error message. When I click on it in windows explorer, it opens in 8.0. Is there any way to change the iTunes configuration so it will open booklets with Reader 8.0?
    thanks

Depends on where you are getting the PDF from. If it's sent as an attachment in an email then Mail will open it; if it's on a website then Safari will open it. You can also download Apple's iBooks app for free which will open PDFs

  • How to make Adobe as your default viewer for all your PDF file instead of the Preview given? Thanks

How to make Adobe as your default viewer for all your PDF file instead of the Preview given? Thanks

you need to "Get Info" on the file first. Select it, right click and select 'Get Info' in the menu.
In the window that pops up, near the bottom, the "Open With" drop down menu needs changed. If the drop down menu does not present the one you want, select "Other" and find it.

I'm a new iPad owner and would like to set the default view for myself to show only Apps for the iPad when I launch the the App Store app. Showing apps for iPhone seems a waste of real estate for me and time spent searching for a particular app since I do not own an iPhone.

    Hi ..
That's not possible as yet but you can provide feedback to Apple here.

  • Making Quicktime the default viewer for .wmv files.

Whenever I try to open a .wmv file, my default program is iphoto. I have Flip4Mac and I want to use Quicktime to be the default viewer for it. I know how I can get each file to open with Quicktime, but I want it to be permanent. For instance, I download a .wmv file and I want to double click the new file on my desktop and Quicktime comes up so I can view the video. I figure this is a very simple thing to do, I just don't know where to change it. Please help. Thank you.

I find that this does not work- pilot error I'm sure.
When I right click on a .wmv file and chose "Get Info", a small window appears that has a section titled "Open With".It defaults to "Windows Media Player" and has a drop down window, offering me a choice of "Other..."
When I select "Other" a window opens that lets me chose an application. I select Quick Time Player and hit "Add". QT then populates the drop down window. I then select "Change ALL" which causes another window to open that asks "Are you sure you want all your Windows Media Player documents to open with the application Quick Time Player?". I answer "Continue" and as soon as I do that Windows Media Player is replaced in the Get Info window as the "Open With" choice.
I can't see how to make the change. Help!!

  • Default "SAPInitial" View for Leave Approval in NWBC 4.0

    Hello All,
We are using NWBC 4.0 for Desktop. Requirement of client is to default SAPInitial from dropdown list in View Field under Work Overview>Leave Approval. I am not able to find in R/3 where the configuration is done to default SAPInitial view for Leave Approval.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated
    Regards,
    Nishant Gaur

    Hi Nishant,
just to clarify this from the NWBC team and to give some detailed background information:
With NWBC 4.0 the default is that the index page is pinned when you connect to a system the first time on your local machine.
The logic here is very easy. NWBC checks if there is a special *.tab file for the system in the following user directory -  %APPDATA%\SAP\NWBC\Tabs. The files have the naming convention SYSID_NWBC.tabs. If the file does not exist, the pinned index page will be shown as default and the file is written and stored into the Tabs folder.
That means this logic is not dependent on the SAP system user, but on the OS/Windows user.
The next time you start NWBC and connect to the same system, the tabs are read from the *.tab file and you can then unpin and pin other tabs.
So your first question is somehow strange, as the default definitly is the pinned index page.
    Best Regards,
    Thomas

  • PowerPoint viewer for Mac OS X?

Members of my political group keep sending me PP (PowerPoint) presentations.
QUESTION: Is there a PowerPoint viewer that works with Macintosh OS X? (From what I see, the answer is NO, but sometimes I miss things.)
    I have OS 10.4.7. Thanks a lot.
    Lorna in Southern California

    There's also this.
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=downlo
    ad&location=/mac/download/office98/powerpoint98viewer.
    xml&secid=20&ssid=7&flgnosysreq=False
Not sure if it's able to open the lastest docs, but
might still be good in a pinch if the other viewer
doesn't work for a particular presentation.
    Kyn, Hi!
Look at this cut and paste from that site: •
System Requirements for Using PowerPoint 98 Viewer:
To use PowerPoint 98 or Office 98, you need:
    • Any PowerPC processor-based, Mac OS-compatible system.
    • Apple System 7.5.5 to 9.x.
I am suspecting that since it was printed in 2004, and it says that it is good for "any PPC, MacOS-compatible system", it MIGHT NOT cover Tiger. And since Tonic Point works fine, I am going to stick with it. However, the downside to Tonic Point is also that I cannot print out the document that is shown. 8-(

Perhaps it’s a design feature to speed up the Organizer launch.
    I am sure it is.
    - The normal use of the Organizer is not the folder view, it's the thumbnail view with an organization based on categories and folder. That way you should forget completely where your pictures are stored. Anyway, the folder view in the Explorer is not a map of the location of the different bits of your file, it's only a logical representation. That's easy to see when you are doing a defragmentation.
    - The folder view is useful even for those using normally the thumbnail view, but that is only for rare cases when you must change the folder organization, for instance moving files to another drive. The folder view is here to prevent you from changing things from the explorer and outside of the Organizer.
    - The new folder list view, which you find 'funny' is there to help better organizing using tags. Its huge advantage is that such a view is created extremely quickly by extracting the last subfolder in the media table : it's the way the database sees the folders, based on its own content,  totally ignoring the complex folder organization of your disk with media files or any unrelated other kind of data. You should use it in many cases, the main purpose being assigning tags when you have assigned descriptive folder names. I had suggested such a solution to prevent the long standing bugs in the folder view of previous versions.
    So yes, the purpose is:
    - to speed up switching modes
    - to help folder organization fans to migrate to tags organization
    - to hopefully get rid of the old folder organization bugs

  • Default viewer for Reader 9

Some of our users have Acrobat 5.0 and Reader 9.0 installed on their machines.
Internet explorer (multiple versions) always try to open pdf links in in Acrobat 5.0, but we want them to open in Reader as default.
I have searched and searched for options in the two applications for default settings, but cannot find any.  I have changed the file associations within Windows, and tried reinstalls of both in different order to see if one overwrites the others default settings.  None of these have worked.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all please?

They do not require each other for running as mentioned. There are some modules in common and that is where you run into problems. There are issues with the parts that remain resident also. I would suggest you follow the other advice you have been given. Unfortunately, there are some PDFs that may not open correctly in AA6. You may have run into some of those.
