Powerpoint always crashing now

I have the latest OS, the latest updates to Office X. I have tossed the plist for powerpoint. I have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office as Word and Excel work fine right now. I have run permissions, run first aid on the disk and everything is fine.
Does anyone have an answer?
Powerpoint opens the file and as soon as you see the file come up, it crashes every time, with every file.

Hi Casey,
By pure coincidence I have just been reading Kurt Lang's Font Management in Mac OS X Tiger and Panther in an attempt to wise up on the issue. (To be honest I'm none the wiser, but that's not Kurt's fault…)
If you scroll to his 'Known Issues' 2c there is a possible solution to your problem, viz: "If you have already attempted to run PowerPoint after updating to 11.2.x without AppleGothic.dfont active, then you have already discovered that PowerPoint crashes after clicking the Open button at the Project Gallery. To fix this problem, activate AppleGothic.dfont. Run PowerPoint again."
Good luck,
Adrian

  • ITunes always crashing now!

Help, I'm having major troubles with iTunes crashing!
Used to be it was just when I upgraded, now it does it regardless if version.
When upgrading to 7.2, I get it when it attempts to update my library.
When using 7.1, I get it when attempting to sync my iPod .
I really don't know what to do anymore - I've combed the forums and tried various solutions. Nothing is working anymore.
Running Windows Vista Professional on a 3200+ AMD Athlon64 with 1 GB of memory.
I can get the info of the crashes if needed, and they include some BSODs .

This RoyB article on trouble shooting 7.2 has a section on crashes while updating the Library, see:
    http://discussions.apple.com/ann.jspa?annID=372
    Is that any help?

  • Always crashing

Safari is always crashing now. If I have two tabs going and I try to copy from one page and then paste on the next page I get the colored spin wheel and the browser shuts down. It never did this until I upgraded to OS X Leopard. Its really ******* me off.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Try this:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions.
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
Also, MacFixit have published a very detailed (very!) article on speeding up a slow Safari, here:

  • URGENT HELP REQUIERED! Digital published Document / Viewer on iPad always crashes

Hey there, i need urgent help, our company is heading towards the most important exhibition. We will be using iPads and digital published magazines on the Adobe Viewer to present our company. But after creating the document and having it checked on the Preview Viewer on the Mac where everything worked fine, i have the issue that it always crashes now when viewed on the iPad.
We have an article, with many pages where we present our references, each page contains a slideshow with about 5 pictures, all the pictures are jpgs, about 400 kb. There is a small vector Illustrator file (eps) placed on the pages as well, which i used on other articles as well, no problem there. When going through this article it always chrashes, i´ve tried a couple of things allready, reduzed file size, dropped pages etc. The whole document is about 400 MB.
Please help!!!! I need a quick solution, as i only have a couple of days left for finishing the document for our Exhibition.
    Kind regards, Dave Leverenz

    Things that crash DPS folios...
    - very very large articles (safest to keep each article under 30MB if you can)
    - consecutive large articles (the app tries to load the next article into memory to enhance page-turning performance, so several huge articles in a row risks causing iPad memory difficulties)
    - dense text combined with transparency or drop shadows in a PDF folio (doesn't like rapid page-turning)
    - two or more consecutive pages containing web overlays that display animation or special tricks using JavaScript (this nightmare began when Apple introduced iOS6)
    - corruption that has crept into an InDesign document after it has been re-edited and resaved 100s of times (only solution is to redraw the document from scratch)
    - folios that have been updated repeatedly after each edit (try archiving and downloading the folio afresh)
    - corruption that has crept into Content Viewer's cache on the iPad (try deleting the app, rebooting your iPad and re-installing the app)
I suspect your problem lies in the size and complexity of your "article with many pages". Try breaking up the article into two or three articles, and see if that makes any difference. You can always hide parts 2 and 3 from the Table of Contents, remember.

    Hey mooshi20003,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the [[Firefox crashes]] Knowledge Base article. You might also want to look at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-slow-or-takes-too-long-start performance troubleshooting section].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox was upgraded to 3.6.15. Now whenever I start it it coms up then crashes almost immediately. No error message it just dies. Sometime it may stay up a few minutes before it dies. But it always crashes.

It crashes on any web page even on the upgrade splash screen. I don't need to do anything but start it. It does not even generate a crash report. It happens in safe mode also

  • Safari 4.0 Beta always crashing on Windows XP...

I had a Windows XP partition (which ended up getting very bad malware, so I deleted it and started a new one) on my MBP, and Safari 4.0 Beta always crashed on it (this was before the malware infection). Now, jump to my new Windows XP partition: so far, Safari 4.0 crashed only once in the few hours I had it (I'm expecting it to probably crash again very soon). Is there any known bug(s) with Safari 4.0 Beta to cause it to crash this often? Am I better off downgrading to 3.x?

So I'm assuming, then, that there are some bugs that need working out with Safari 4.0 Beta for Windows. After all, I've used Safari 4.0 Beta for Mac ever since it was released and I never had it crash once. I guess, if Safari keeps randomly crashing on me in Windows, I'll have to temporarily downgrade to 3.x until they fix this issue with a finalized 4.0...

  • Photoshop Bridge always crashes during a copy process.

While moving a folder with Photoshop Bridge the application crashed and the folder has disappeared on my disk.
Why dose Photoshop Bridge always stalls while moving and copying files or folders? What's the background and the solution to prevent this?
Is there a solution to recover the files. Standard recovery software dose not work.

    Hi together,
"loosing" the files was my mistake. I have took some time for investigations. I don't know why but I moved the two folders to my C: disk into my personal picture folder. The biggest mistake was that I have not searched on my C: disk. I searched on every disk in my PC by I missed searching on C:. Sorry for any confusion regarding this matter. By the way, I am happy that my pictures didn't get lost.
Any way, I am still facing the main failure : Bridge always crashes after I am moving or copying files, even by using drag and drop.
I have now completely updated my PC to exclude any driver bugs (SATA, video card, chipset, LAN, USB, audio, motherboard bios). I have also installed a new data disk. Please hold in mind, my PC is actually running very stable. There is no issues with any other software.
At the end the situation has not changed ... Bridge always crashes after moving or copying files.
Any ideas what I can change to get rid of this problem ?

Prior to the subscription models—and of course that includes CS4—the Photoshop license was platform specific, either Windows or Mac, but not both.  Your CS4 Windows serial number ("key") will never work on the Mac version.
CS4 is out of the loop as far as requesting a platform swap for a nominal fee.  It is no longer supported by Adobe in any way. A platform swap required the destruction of your PC version, so you could not use both the PC and the Mac versions.
For a time, you could have used CS4 to upgrade to CS6 for about $200, but that time window has closed by now.  Now you would have to own a legitimate version of CS5 in order to be eligible to buy an upgrade to CS6.
You can of course buy the full version of Photoshop CS6 Extended for $1,000 from the Adobe store:
    Creative Suite 6
Alternatively, you can subscribe to Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC2014  on a monthly basis without ever owning the software.  If you stop paying monthly, the software ceases to work.
The cheapest subscription is the Photography plan, which includes both Photoshop and Lightroom for $10 a month.

  • Media Encoder CS4 always crashes under Win7!

The CS4 media encoder was quite a downstep from the simple and solid one in CS3 in terms of usability and stability.
In Vista I had to deal a lot with crahes here and crashes there depending on file formats or number of passes, it could rarely get things done.
Now I upgraded to Win 7.
But this time I can't even encode ANYTHING.
It always crashes and gives me this error:
Please Adobe, give me a version that WORKS for all that loads of money I paid you over the years!

Okay, I found out that on completely uncompressed source videos it seems to work. So the problem may lie in the codec installations or corrupt source files. Still I wonder about this error handling and the endless "insert CD" loop afterwards.

  • Ipod Touch keeps crashing, now wont open at all.

I got my ipod touch a little under a year ago, and soon after getting it i noticed that the music would randomly stop and go to the homepage. It wasn't that bad because the music would always come back up, and it didn't happen that often. But then it started getting more and more often. Recently it started taking two or three times to get music to open, and now it crashed last night, and even after two hours of nothing but trying to open it, it still wont open. I'm getting a new ipod soon, but i wanted to know if there was any quick fix.

This is kinda weird... My iPod touch keeps crashing although I got os 3.1.3.
It always crashes while tring to play chalkboard stunts.
I got a second generation iPod touch. Any help would be very helpful.

  • Why does Xcode4 always crash on create/open project?

Xcode4 Final, always crashes when I try to create or open a project.
    some history:
did not used the proper script to remove Xcode3, I deleted /Developer and rebooted
Xcode4 installed, removed with correct script. (3+ times)
tried to remove all xcode/developer files using locate/find.
tried to make an as clean new Xcode4 install.
Now the only thing i can think of is remove xcode4, locate any developer rest files. reboot, install xcode3 : now use the xcode3 uninstaller, reboot and install xcode 4.
If that still wont work, I think I have to cleanwipe my complete MBP
this is something i hope get rid off:

I don't think that would be necessary. A simple erase disk should suffice
One last thing to try is check ~/Library/Application Support and /Library/Application Support for any Apple/Developer or Xcode directories and remove them - after uninstalling Xcode again. It looks like it is crashing when it tries to access the SDK for your project. Instead of reporting "missing SDK" it is just crashing.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It will make no changes to your system, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    sudo opensnoop -e 2>&- | sed -En '/ m[dt]/d;s/(\/Users\/)[^/]+/\1-/p;/ReportC/q' | tail -50 | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
Now take the action that causes the crash.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.
If any personal information appears in the output, anonymize before posting, but don’t remove the context.
    You can then quit Terminal.
Important: There is an obscure bug in some versions of OS X that may cause cursor movement to lag or stutter after running the above command. If you notice this behavior, simply restart the computer to clear it.
