PowerPoint Animations Import

Hi everyone,
I have a PPt presentation with several slides of Bulleted
points. In PPt each bullet is set to appear 'On Click'. This allows
the speaker to speak to each point as it appears.
After Importing the presentation into CP3 the bullets on the
slide no longer appear "On Click' but appear after about one
second, one after the other with no pause. Am I missing something?
I have extended the time the slide displays but this does not
appear to make any difference to the timing to the appearance of
the bullets.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Ken

Even if you've selected "On Click" for all of them in
PowerPoint, there is another setting during the import process.
It's on the screen where you see the slide thumbnails. It's called
Advance Slide and you can choose On Mouse Click or Automatically.
Good luck!

  • Powerpoint Animation Import Question

Hello All. I'm running Powerpoint 2003 and Captivate 3.
Here's my somewhat silly question. When I import a .ppt slide
with simple animation into Cap, all I get is a blank screen in Cap.
Once I hit F3 to preview the slide, I see what's supposed to be in
the animation, but it fades away once the slide is done.
How do I edit the damn thing in Cap? I've tried different
grouping, different window sizes, moving things around, but I can't
get to the text that fades in.
There's got to be a simple answer that I'm just not seeing.
    Thanks
    Jimmy

    Hey there Jimmy
Standard problem is that what you created in Powerpoint from
many elements is pulled into Captivate as a single entity and thus
cannot be edited in Captivate. The best way is to build each slide
in Captivate from ground up, but I understand the frustration if
you have good powerpoint material and do not want to rebuild. In
this instance, my suggestion is to delete the slide in question in
Captivate, then open the ppt file and edit your animations there as
this is probably where the problem lies, remember that Captivate
does not have that "click to appear/disappear" functionality that
Powerpoint has and thus just plays all your animations in a timed
sequence. Lastly, import the "fixed" slide back into Captivate.
(Suggestion is to save that ppt slide as a file on its own before
    pulling into Captivate)
    cheers

  • Powerpoint Animations

My Powerpoint animations (gif animations and other) di not play in Captivate. Any ideas please?

    Hi there,
Which version of Captivate and Power point do you have and which operating system is it?
Which format of Power point did you import? Did you check "Hi-fidelity" option during import (only in case of .PPTX and .PPSX)
    Thanks.

  • Subsequent animations from powerpoint 03 import not playing in .exe

    Hello,
I am using Captivate 4 and have imported several slides from powerpoint 03.  When I publish to a .exe file, the first bullet animations work, but the subsequent bullet animations do not occur.  When I watch inside the edit view in Captivate, all animations are working perfectly...it's only upon publishing to .exe for review.  I'm concerned they won't play when published to LMS.  My coworker said that she had seen something about this in Captivate 3, but to search the forums for an answer...I can't find one on here.  I hope you can help, thank you!

NM, I figured it out!  The menu button objects were set to pause, which was pausing my animations halfway through since the animations were longer from slide to slide.

  • Importing and editing PowerPoint (animations) in Captivate 5

    <banging head on desk> <and cursing>
I started my Captivate by importing a PowerPoint slide show. I've added audio and am doing most of the animation in PowerPoint since it's lots of bullets and some charts and things. I thought it'd be easier to manage this way and wanted to see how it all works since I'm new to version 5 of Captivate.
So I edit the PowerPoint, go back to Captivate, update the presentation and it seems to be working okay. Then I thought I'd try something different ... what if I edit just the slide so I don't have to wait for the entire thing to update?
    IT WRECKED MY ANIMATION. (waaa!)
I spent a lot of time getting the animation perfect and the edit I made is the only thing now animated, the rest shows up as a group.
    Did I do something wrong?
Is there a preferred way to work with Captivate and PPT together? Is it a crazy idea I have that I'm wanting to control the animation in PowerPoint?
Captivate doesn't have the control of working with paragraph level animation, does it?
    Thanks,
    Jo

    Hi Jo,
Do I understand it all right: your issue was originated when you tried to edit one slide with the roundtripping from Captivate to Powerpoint? What is indicated in the Library besides the Presentation? Which version of PPT are you using?
I prefer myself to have everything in Captivate, because imported PPT-animations are just FMR and editing in CP is cumbersome.  But the roundtripping is there to be used of course and should work. I hope that your CP-version is up to date?
A bulleted animated list could also be spread on different slides if you do not want the workaround with different Text Captions.

  • CP6 Powerpoint animations NOT workin in HTML5

I have imported my powerpoint in to cp6.  I have embedded animations in the ppt file. WHen I publish to PDF or flash, the animations play nicely. When I publish to HTML5, they don't play at all. If I import without hi fidelity, then the screens are blank of the animated material. If I import WITH hifidelity, then all of the object are present at the beginnin of the slide instead of fading in/out as set on the ppt timeline.
    Help!
Client is NOT going to be happy
    Lori

    Hi Lori,
Can you check if the Preview in HTML5 Borwser option works correctly as expected or not?
Also, double check if the Powerpoint presentation is in sync (green) in library.
Can you check with a sample ppt as well with hi-fidelity and Slide duration -- checked and add few animations.
    Thanks,

  • Timing PowerPoint Animations

I've just imported a PowerPoint presentation into Captivate
    3. Most of the 25 slides have bullet-point advances and other
animations built in to them. The live presenter advances the
animations manually, as she talks to the slides. I've got her voice
recorded, and want to trigger the animations in time with the
audio. Does Cap 3 allow me to do this? It doesn't seem so.
    thanks!

Hi guys! My apologies for not responding - when I first
posted, I forgot to "Subscribe" to this topic, so I wasn't getting
any notification of your posts. With that out of the way, I DID
misunderstand the original question. So to avoid having too much
egg on my face, I started experimenting to see if I could actually
accomplish this ... and yes, it can be done.
The question is actually "How do we pause and restart an
animation object?" (to sync it with the audio on that slide). The
answer is in duplicating the click-box on that slide. Let's see if
I can put it into steps for you:
    ================================================
With the audio inserted, and the PPT animation object on the
    slide ...
    1) Click the slide preview button (below and to the left of
    the timeline)
    or ...
1a) Grab the slide Playhead (the red bar) and "scrub" the
    timeline
1b) If it's not visible, click the top of the time-line on
    the "seconds" bar
    2) Watch/Listen for the point you need to insert a stop, and
    "Pause" there
    3) Insert a new click-box at that point on the time-line
(and stop the 1st one here)
    4) Continue from that point, once again pausing when
    required by audio
4a) or watch the bullets as they appear and sync to that if
    you wish
    5) Again, insert another new click-box at that point
(stopping the prior one at the same time-line point)
    ================================================
Continue as required. There is some work involved, but if you
play with this a little, you'll find that it can be done easily and
accurately. The trick is as simple as stopping playback with
multiple click-boxes at the points you want to pause. When done,
you will as many click-boxes as you have bullets or other
transitions on the slide; just be sure none of the click-boxes
    overlap.
This is an answer to a different problem than I originally
thought, but I hope it it helpful. Again, I apologize for not
"subscribing" to the topic after my original reply. Usually I do
that with every post, but "stuff happens".
    Ciao ~

  • Powerpoint animation won't work automatically in captivate

Hello.  I imported a PowerPoint presentation into Adobe Captivate 7 and the animation won't work unless I hit the play button every time to make each individual piece of animation work.  How can I get the animation to play automatically and then have the user click to the next slide.  I'm working in Windows 8.1.  Thanks.
    David

    Hi There,
    Greetings from Adobe.
In PowerPoint , when you select an object on which you applied an animation then at top menu bar you have to change from On Click to With Previous or After Previous and save the presentation.
Then imported into Captivate and while importing please make sure you select automatically under Advanced and check High Fidelity option. Then preview the project and it will play the animation automatically.
    Regards,

  • Powerpoint animations pausing in Captivate 7

I am importing a .pptx powerpoint to Captivate 7.  This powerpoint contains animations that are timed with narration, which has been added after the powerpoint had been imported.  However, the animations seem to pause or "get stuck" at the same points each time.
The animations had been added after importing, and I have also tried to create a new project with the new powerpoint file that contained the animations.  Powerpoint has also been imported using high fidelity, imported with slides to proceed on click, and imported a different time in a new project with slides to proceed automatically.  Animations in powerpoint are set to play automatically (after previous instead of on click) and work fine in powerpoint.  Audio has been added and removed to see if the audio was an issue.  I have previewed (F4) the project and published to an .exe file to test, but nothing seems to work - the animations continue to pause mid-animation each time.  However, the animations seem to work when previewing just the individual slide (F3)
Any thoughts or suggestions why this is happening?
    Thanks!
    Diana

    Hello!
I have the animations set to "with previous" - I have also tried "after previous":
Here is the timeline in Captivate:
I have also tried to create a separate slide within Captivate and add animations and effects there, but these pause mid-animation as well.
    Thanks!

  • PowerPoint Animations Appear for Split Second

I have a Captivate project that was created by importing a PowerPoint presentation which contains several animations.  I imported the presentation using the high fidelity option because the PPTX file contains SmartArt objects that are animated.  Everything is working fine with the exception that when I view the published project in the browser, for a split second the newly loaded page flashes all the objects on the slide.  The objects then dissappear and the slide continues to build the animations as expected and timed perfectly with the audio.  The course does contain audio on each slide and is 26 slides in length.
Is there a trick to preventing these images/objects from flashing at the beginning of each slide?
I'm using the following software and configuration:
Captivate 6 with the latest updates.
    PowerPoint 2007
    Internet Explorer 8
    Windows XP SP3
    Flash Player 10 ActiveX 10.1.85.3
    Shockwave Player 11.5 (11.5.7.609)
I hope that I have provided enough information and details for this question.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • Powerpoint Animations Flicker Between Slide Transitions

    Version
    Captivate 6.0.1.240
    Output type
    Flash SWF, and MP4
I have a powerpoint (2010) I imported into Captivate.  The slides do contain animations, mostly fade in, and fly in.  No exit animimations, all are enterance.  Captivate is using the animation times set in PowerPoint as I expect, and that works well for me.  I did add narration audio using Captivate for each slide.  After I have everything set, I produce the project as MP4 successfully.
However, then I view the video when the slides transition to a slide that has animations, there is a quick flicker that shows the animations for the slide even though they are not really seen until sometime into the slide.  This effect is very distracting and takes away from the impact of the slides having seen a flicker of the exposed animations.  It almost seems it is adding a video frame of the final slide.
    I have tryed the following:
    -Reapplied the patch
-Added fade slide transistion in Captivate (This only makes the flicker last longer)
    -Tried the different produce settings
-Tryed produce to Flash, but same effect.
I am looking for a solution to this, or a workaround I should be concidering.  My final option is to pull the MP4 into Premier to remove the frames, which is not why I bought Captivate.

I am seeing the same thing. I just recently updated to ver 6. This is very much not good.
Also, by buttons keep resizing themselves to little tiny boxes if I change any properties.
    Please fix these fast!

  • PowerPoint 2010 import - objects reposition themselves

Has anyone got a solution or a workaround for this problem please?
I've got a basic instructional presentation that I want to convert to video for porting to YouTube etc. but I've been experiencing an odd problem when importing it to Captivate and I can't find a solution here or via Google, etc.
The presentation was created in PowerPoint 2010 and consists of 24 simple slides. Each slide contains animated bullet points that fly up, images that appear on the screen, and some shapes to highlight certain areas.
The presentation is an into to MS Excel, so a slide opens with a title, a bullet point will fly in, a partial screenshot appears then an arrow and box to highlight a particular element, i.e. the formula bar. Nothing complex or fancy - simple bullets, images and shapes.
I've created a version of the presentation specifically for video that is identical by removing all mouse clicks and this runs fine in PowerPoint. When I create a new project in Captivate by importing the presentation it appears to work fine, but on close examination there is a problem with the slide layouts. For example, One one page I have 2 text boxes, one avove the other. In the Captivate project when I run the slide from the animation pane, preview it or publish it (any format) the two text boxes now overlap and are partially unreadable.
Similarly, on one slide a related image appears after a bullet point flies in. It works in PowerPoint, it's position has been shifted about an inch to the left in Captivate, right over the text.
    FYI:
I've updated my version of Captivate to 5.0.3.631
I've gone back to the source presentation (with clicks) and that does the same
I've previously imported presentations from PowerPoint 2007 with no problems
I've previously imported presentations from PowerPoint 2010 that were created with PowerPoint 2007 with no problems
Our default format is 97-2003 for compatibility
I've tried importing the project as a .ppt and a full 2010 .pptx - no change
There are other occurences of the same type of actions in the same presentation and others and they run with no problems
I've tried rescaling the project but this makes no difference
I've tried resizing and slightly changing the position of the objects affected in PowerPoint to force a repositioning in Captivate but this makes no difference - the objects are still misaligned
I've tried deleting and recreating the project after changes - no difference
I've tried editing the slide via the right-click option in Captivate and saving - no change
I've tried editing the whole presentation via the right-click in Captivate and saving - no change
I'm just going to update my version of Flash from 10 to 11. Any other ideas please?

Nope - it's not Flash doing it.
    How it looks in PowerPoint:
And here it is in Captivate (one shot is from a preview, the other from the editor version:
Note in the lh case the overlapping text in the 2nd and 3rd bullets from the bottom.
In the rh example, the fx graphic has jumped to the left, also the 4th and 5th bullets are overwriting each other.
Please also note that the fx and tick/cross box works fine in the lh example, but not in the right.

  • Animations imported into Captivate 5.5 not playing correctly.

This issue started when I tried to open a Cp 5 project in Cp 5.5.  The animations don't play at all if the "Synchronize with Project" option is On and the anmiation starts at 0 sec on the timeline. Also, there is a visible "blink" between animations on the same slide and between slides.
I've been using Cp 5 for about a year and have worked out my issues with it so these are the things that AREN'T wrong:  The transitions for slides and swfs are set to "No Transitions," there is no space between swfs on the timeline that would be making the "blink," there are no blank frames at the end of the timeline in the swf files(inside of Flash), the swfs are AS3, they are only as long as their original timeline, my Preferences are set to no fades on Start and End slides, and my timelines do not extend beyond their content to show white space.
The files work fine in Cp 5.  The file animation links are also randomly missing/broken when brought into Cp 5.5 and even after I re-establish them, they periodically turn red (not up to date).
So I figured, "Maybe I can't work with previous version files.  I'll just start a new blank project in Cp 5.5." Right? . . . Not right.  Swfs still aren't visible when published if they are set to "Synchronize with Project" AND start at the 0 sec mark.  They still "blink" between swfs and slides.  So maybe I can't use Flash 5 files in Cp 5.5 either.  If that is the case, this upgrade was a waste of time and money and should not have been released until these MAJOR issues were resolved.
Someone from support is looking into it, but so far the only advice that I got was "Turn the Sync option off and fade into your next animations."  What?! The sync option is very important because that keeps your animations playing correctly when people scrub the playhead.  If Cp 5.5 is programmed to do that automatically, then why keep the option button?  If not, do you really expect me to NOT want my animations to play consistently when people drag around the playhead?  As for the fading, maybe fading out after every animation swf is not an option for me, maybe I need it to be seamless.  And to that I was told, "Put all your animations together in one Flash file." Duh, but that was how this needing Cp to assemble my separate swfs started in the first place. If any of you have tried importing 3D rendered pngs into Flash, you know that you can only have so many frames before the program can't handle the load and crashes.  I can only support aoubt 250-300 frames of optimized pngs before Flash crashes on me and thats WITH 16GB of ram on a new 64 bit operating system.
If anyone has had this issue and found a fix or some kind of pending patch, please let me know, because by now, I'm wanting a refund.

Captivate 5 was a total rewrite from the Captivate 4 software architecture and it introduced a subtle but fundamental change in the way that Flash animations were handled in Captivate published content.
Basically the change means that if your animation was built down a level or two inside a symbol rather than on the main timeline at the top level, then you will find that Captivate 5 or 5.5 loads and executes the animation on the first slide of the movie. This means that by the time you get to the actual slide where you WANTED the animation to perform it's magic, it's already run and finished.
In Captivate 4 this did not happen.  The animation was not really loaded until later in the movie timeline so as to be ready for the slide where it was required.  It didn't matter if the animation was buried inside a symbol or not.
    You have two choices:
Revamp your animation so that it all happens on the main timeline in the Flash FLA file that generates it.
Get your Flash programmer to add some ActionScript code to the animation so that it does NOT play completely when first loaded at the beginning of the project at runtime.
I agree that Captivate would have been regarded as less of a beast if this change had NOT been made, as users only find out about it AFTER upgrading projects with animations built as symbols.  However, I have to trust that if the change was introduced, there must have been a very good reason.

  • Jumpy, choppy animation (imported from Illustrator)

Hello, I am having a problem with some vines I imported from illustrator having very choppy animation. Every other animation in my project thus far has been smooth, except for the vines which I just want to move slowly and slightly as if blowing in the wind. I did the same effect for some leaves in the background which animate fine, so its something to do with the vines in particular.
I imported all the shapes from Illustrator (the vine shafts, leaves, and thorns) which came into flash as "drawing objects". I then turned every piece into individual movie clips, and then combined everything further into 4 seperate movie clips I could animate. The animation is very simple, just rotating back and forth ever so slightly accrost 250 frames.
I uploaded the .swf in question which you can download here: http://www.filedropper.com/splashscreen10
I appreciate any and all help! Thanks!

From the sound of it, I'm having this exact same problem. Does anyone have suggestions for how to solve this problem?

  • Not all my PowerPoint slides import into Captivate 3

I am trying to import a 62-slide presentation in PowerPoint 2003 to Captivate 3, but only 10 slides will import. I am not sure what is causing the other 52 slides to not be recognized. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Jennifer

    Jennifer,
Does it always stop on Slide 11?  The reason I am asking is that if this the case then look on that particular slide to see what is different from the rest.
Another suggestions, select all slides, then deselect slide 11 (assuming above applies) and try it, hopefully it will bring all 61 in then.  If not pick a bunch at a time and see where it fails - you are looking for a pattern of failures to pick the offending element.
