Powerpoint crash problem

Hello, Please help.  I am currently using Powerpoint 2011.  And recently, within the last 6 month, every time I try to run the slide show it crashes the computer.  Sometimes I begin the slide show and a few slides into the program the computer crashes.  I have also gone through my font book and removed all of the duplicate fonts.  Please help.  I am a teacher and I use this program for my classes.  thank you for your help or advice.

Can you see the presentation file inside your thumb drive? If not, then TMP file may help you restore them or you need a third-party recovery software here.
I don't know much about such data recovery software since I never used any. But if the PPT file is there inside your thumb drive, then there are fair chances to repair it by using Open and Repair.
If this doesn't repair your PPT file, then you must go for a third-party PPT recovery software. I have used such a software in my past. It was
PowerPoint Repair Kit software what I used to repair my corrupted PPT file. You may check its free demo version as I did. Just search it on Google or you may read this article
http://www.powerpoint.repair/
I came to know about this software from this article.
Hope this information will be helpful.
Regards.

  • MSFT Office 2011 Powerpoint Crashes Computer

Hello fellow Mac users, it seems that my MBP crashes when I try to display a slide show in my powerpoint. It is a consistent problem and happens WITHOUT fail when I use the slide view (presentation mode). I have tried reisintalling Powerpoint but this did not work. No other piece of software has this problem. What happens is that my screen goes black and all input devices become unresponsive (even if the comptuer is clearly running). Here is the following error message:

Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):

Confirm I have had the same problem with Office 2011 Powerpoint. Crash to unresponsive black screen, must force off with power button. 15" Mid-2010 MacBookPro 6.2 MC373C/A 4GB RAM and Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Began slowly/intermittently in July when I was working daily with the pptx. Was then crashing with a 2nd monitor attached going into slide show mode. Crash problem became more frequent over time.
Now the crash occurs with certainty in almost any configuration - slide show with 2nd monitor/projector, or without any monitor/projector or other peripherals attached, and with either the battery or 110v MagSafe power supply.
I have tried creating an alternate user account - and the problem again starts randomly and acelerates in frequency.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Office2011 for Mac as per MS instruction support pages. Same crash, on launch , when opening a file after launch, or when clicking onto a different slide if a successful launch does occur.
Powerpoint at this time and in this condition is unuseable.
Too bad because I have another presentation to prepare and give tomorrow, and I have already paid for and now depend on the MBP, and at this time the MSOffice2011 software.
If anyone has solved why this problem is occurring (I see it occurs frequently enough that similar questions appear in many forums) - please share your insights and a solution if you have one? ThankYou.

  • Powerpoint crashes when trying to view the drawing toolbar

Powerpoint crashes when trying to view the drawing toolbar (spinning wheel). Only option is to force quit.
I've already tried resetting the toolbar and using the disk utility to repair permissions.
I set up a new User Account on the Mac to test it, and everything works fine on the new account.
How can I get it to work on my main user account (and also the guest account that's already set up)?
Checking Microsoft's forum says if it works on a new test account to contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Application corruption problems:
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist.
Hold down the option key while using the Finder "Go To Folder" command. Enter ~/Library. Delete the .plist(s) for the application.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below. It does work with Mountain Lion:
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/22/access-user-library-folder-in-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.2. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Powerpoint crashing (viva Keynote?)

Hello my friend instaled the Boot Camp for me (I am totaly hopeles when it comes to technology, read about instaling Boot Camp and still didn't have the courage to do it) everything works just fine except one thing I need the most and that is Powerpoint, it crashed several times and I had to reboot my MBP. I heard its not good to reboot it frequently. I also read another post here and the person mentioned Powerpoint crashing as well, though it didn't sound like being a problem for him (if it was her I am sorry). I don't want to reinstal everything again because apart from this there isn't a single problem. Does any of you have an idea what might it be? Or is it just windows doing what it's best at randomly crashing because of some problem that programers should have taken care of? If it is I would appreciate the oppinion of apple users who have an experience with Keynote, whether you think it is better than powerpoint and why? My last question concerns Keynotes compatibility. If I save my Keynote presentation on my USB key can I do the presentation on normal PC? (I know I have a laptop, but it would be quite useful to be able to use the USB in the staff room instead of carying around the whole lot.)
Thank you very much for any help or ideas.
    Mr.Binsswanger

As an aside, that is very weird to me. Apple can open MS files in the form of ppt but PowerPoint can't open Keynote files in the form of key? How can that be any good for Apple? I would think a heck of a lot more people would need ppt than key? Right? Can you export files to ppt from the Keynote app?
    Thanks,
    Bob

  • Why Presenter erase all MP3 when Powerpoint crash ???

I want to know why Presenter erase all MP3 files if Powerpoint crash ?
    step by step...
1- Someone came in my studio and record his presentation.  I took him 2 hours.
2- When finish, I click "save" and close the recording windows.
3- Back in Powerpoint, I click the save button of Powerpoint... and... Powerpoint crash.
4- In windows explorer, I see the Powerpoint and the folder create by Adobe Presenter for the audio files with all the MP3 in that folder.
            -"Yes, everything is there"
5- I re-open the Powerpoint of the client.
6- Click on modify to see if all the audio are there
    7- Haaaaaaaaa, no audio.
-"Ok, I just have to reimport all the MP3 one by one"
8- I try to do that and.... Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa.... the folder with all the audio has been deleted by Presenter !!!!  I lost all the audio !!!!!!
Ok,  that's not what really happen.  Because I know that sometimes Adobe Presenter decide for me that it want to delete ALL my audio files.  So after step 4 (before re-open the Powerpoint of the client) I made a backup of the folder that contains all the mp3.
Can someone tell me why Presenter decide to erase all audio files when it crash or when it has a problem ????
If I did not make a backup, I would have lost all the work of the client...
And can someone help me with my other post (august 2010)
    Audio files name
All the 60 slides of my client have a name that doesn't match with the slide.  So because Adobe Presenter crashed et erase all the audio files, I have to re-import them slide by slide.  But with all those bizarre name, I have to listen each files and find the good slide that match with them.  why the mp3 don't have a name that match the slide number.  It would be very very very easiest !!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks

What version of Presenter are you using? I know this was a bug with Presenter 7.0.0, and maybe 7.0.1. I've not heard of it happening since then, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. It may be worth a discussion with Adobe Support about what happened and why Presenter would delete your audio files. You can reach them at 800-945-9120.
As to you other post, I did reply to it, but Presenter's functionality can't be changed. When you publish the presentation the audio files that are created do have a naming convention that associates them with the slide they are on, but in the build phase, it uses some cryptic method that I've never been able to figure out. So, for that reason, as well as a handful of other non-Presenter related reasons, I've taken to just using an Audio recording/editing application to deal with my audio, and then importing to Presenter. This allows me more control over the naming convention, as well as more control over the quality and settings used to record and/or encode the audio. It may seem like more work at first, but I feel like I can get through the audio portion of Presenter faster when I use a tool built for audio. Just remember to save or split your audio into individual files for each slide. Name them sequentially and then you can import them all at once into Presenter by selecting the first slide you wish to import to, browsing to the audio files and selecting them all for import.

  • How do I fix a FINDER crash problem in 10.6.8

I recently, in the last 10 days, started having a FINDER crash problem with my iMac 24" (iMac9,1) Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz computer.
I have 4 GB of ram installed, no external hard disks installed.
It seems to crash when I have five or more applications open, but it is not consistant.
When it freezes or crashes, I get the spinning ball. I open the Force Quit Window with comand, option, escape and it show Finder not responding.
I click on Finder and tell it to relaunch. It does nothing. At that point I cannot even go to the APPLE icon on the dock and do a shutdown or restart.
From that point on, I have to press and hold the START button to shut the computer down.
I have checked the hard disk integrity with Disk Utility after starting on the Snow Leopard 1.6 install disk. everything shows good.
I have repaired permissions using the same application. I then restart the computer and log back in.
I have used Onyx for Snow Leopard version 2.3.1 to do some maintenance routines.
I have checked the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive and it passes.
I have verified that the Daily, Weekly, Monthly routines have been run. They have.

  • Another crash problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 4

another crash question!  burned a dvd of project, saw something i needed to change as i watched the dvd, tried to get back into project, but crashed time and time again.  have tried any and all suggestions in the forum for other crash problems, but cannot fix.  can anyone help?  below is error message and my equipment.  using Windows Vista.  I want to go back to Windows XP, never had a problem.  thanks to anyone who has an idea.

I'm not sure what's up at this point, if doing a Save As and deleting your render files doesn't fix your glitch (and assuming you've got adequate, freshly defragmented room on your drives for the program to work).
You can also try working through Adobe's troubleshooting steps:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/514/cpsid_51427.html
Renaming the presets folder can help. (The program will automatically make a new one when you next launch it):

    Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/ Adobe/Premiere Elements/8.0/Settings/Custom

I do not know about the SD recording format with that camcorder. I am sorry. But, if your Premiere Elements project is set up for AVCHD, you should be able to edit AVCHD with that computer.
I do recommend optimizing Vista, however, so that you will get the best performance. Here's how to do it:

Also, make sure your Vista is updated to Service Pack 1.
Επίσης, βεβαιωθείτε ότι η ενημέρωση να είναι Vista Service Pack 1.

Removing the old preference file was the first thing I tried with no luck.
I just fixed the problem by removing the 'application support/logic' folder. Logic behaved normally.
You mean the one in your user library? So you the culprit was one of your custom presets (that you have now lost)?
The strange thing is that I then dragged the old folder contents back into the newly created logic folder
Are you talking a project folder or the user appsupport folder?
and overwrote all the files so that the content was EXACTLY the same as before. Logic still works fine - bizarre...
Well, if deleting your user application support folder solved the problem, the 'faulty' file was in there. Too bad you now cannot narrow it down further by deleting perhaps subfolders or even individual files from that folder until it was resolved; that way you would have had one or a few specific files that were the cause. Now you won't know until it happens again and try it like this, I guess.
But, if it works it works.

  • CS4 Crashing Problems - Questions

Just curious in regards to all of these "CS4 Crashing" problems.
    1) Before updating to Snow leopard, did you people do due diligence by at the very least checking the S.M.A.R.T. status of your drives and do a Permission Repair first BEFORE updating?
    2) Did you make a clone of your working perfectly Leopard disk, or at least do a current (minutes before) Time machine backup?
    3) Did you check first which 3rd party extensions such as those by Unsanity (FontCard), YouControl(Font), Growl, etc. that will NOT play nice with Snow Leopard yet until they are updated (if ever?)... and pre-update delete them?
    4) Did you check to make sure that all of your fonts have been disabled and those that are NOT specifically from Apple, are removed from the User Font folders... and NOT set to load at startup?
Now after all of that... did ya still "freely" and without a gun to your head, update to Snow Leopard... a brand spankin' new (dot.zero) OS release and expect absolutely NO bugs: small, large or just inconvenient for the time being?
And now your whining here?... and complaining to Apple?
Have any of you considered reverting to your clone of Leo 10.5.8 until certain issues (yours) have been fail-safely fixed?
For the record, I did a straight-up SL update on a 2.16 CoreDuo MBP, and a 2008 8-core MacPro with NO problems! Everything working fine in 32-bit and 64-bit (MacPro), including even FreeHand under Rosetta.
NOTE: check your fonts!!! Whenever something crashes here or at any of my clients unexpectedly, font and/or font cache corruption has been the main culprit, now for over 20 years(!)

Well on one hand, I was guilty of letting out a rant against all of the whiners... on the other I was trying to be a bit helpful.
Maybe it will cause someone to think before starting another "Adobe or Apple must die or fix this" thread. It grates on the nerves... considering most should "fix" their expectations, upgrade habits, and most of all, the area between their ears first... BEFORE posting.
