Powerpoint custom animations to adobe captivate 5.5

I have Adobe captivate 5.5 on my Mac. I started a captivate presentation from a Powerpoint slide show (2008) in which there were some custom animations on the slides. I requested that the slides auto advance during the import and did not link the presentation.
When I run the show in captivate the custom animations pause and I have to click each time to advance through the animations. Then the slide show continues in automatic mode.
Is there any way to control this or do I have to pull apart the slides in ppt to be able to voice over the slides at the appropriate time and have them auto advance?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi there
The first thing you will need to do is to publish your Captivate projects as a video format. This means F4V or FLV. You then upload the resulting file to YouTube. However, please note that if you take this approach, you lose any ability for interactivity, such as clicking links to open other resources, simulating an application or quizzing your viewer.

  • Trouble Importing PowerPoint 2003 file into Adobe Captivate 3

I am using Adobe Captivate 3 and am having difficulty importing a owerPoint 2003 file.  The file has 26 slides but Captivate only recognizes 17 of them.  The powerpoint file has no transitions or animations set that would cause any issues.  Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
By the way when I open up Powerpoint and import the slides from my original file and do not keep the source formatting, the end file will be come into captivate fine(all 26 slides) but an animation that was not there originally now exists.

    Hi there
You could try just running the PowerPoint and recording it from Captivate as it plays.
You would also want to report the issue as a bug.

  • How to adjust speed of Flash animation within Adobe Captivate

I have three Flash animations that were bought from istockphoto.com. The animations were imported into the project within Captivate. When the individual slides are playing in the project, the speed and timing is perfect. When the project is then to be published to preview the entire project as a whole, all of the animations speed up and are playing continuously throughout the desired slide. I don't know how to slow down the animation and have it play only one time through. What are the properties that I need to adjust in order to slow down the animation?

    Hello,
This is a possibility, not sure: the framerate for Captivate is normally 30fps whereas the default framerate in Flash is 25fps. You can try to change the fps in the Captivate project, in the Preferences (see screenshot)

  • Using Adobe Captivate 6, how can I replicate the PPt text animations wherein I can float in timed?

Using Adobe Captivate version 6.0, I want to be able to do what I always could in PowerPoint - in a bulleted list, cause each bullet to float (or other animation) into place, establish a timing for each line.

To do this in Captivate, you need each bullet to be a separate text caption. You can then apply fly-in effects and time them to coincide with the voiceover.  There's no way to make the bullets fly separately in if they are all in the same text caption.

  • Problems - Powerpoint to Adobe captivate

    Hi Community,
I am after some help/ advise. I am using Adobe Captivate 3
and have sucessfully converted a Powerpoint presentation into Adobe
Captivate. However i have come across 1 stumbling block. This is
the initial powerpoint presentation is designed for a open day
where we want this presentation looping around on a laptop (hence
the need for Adobe Captivate). However the powerpoint presentation
currently has 5 avi movies in it and when the Powerpoint
presentation is imported into Adobe Captivate the avi movies just
show as pictures and do not play.
Is there a way to get these avi files to play within
Captivate. I have tried adding a animation into the timeline for
the slide however i get the message "This AVI file cannot be
converted by a adobe flash file. Conversion aborted".
Without these avi files in the published movie it is no worth
doing. So i am hoping someone can give me some help and advise.
    Much appreciated

  • Powerpoint animations pausing in Captivate 7

I am importing a .pptx powerpoint to Captivate 7.  This powerpoint contains animations that are timed with narration, which has been added after the powerpoint had been imported.  However, the animations seem to pause or "get stuck" at the same points each time.
The animations had been added after importing, and I have also tried to create a new project with the new powerpoint file that contained the animations.  Powerpoint has also been imported using high fidelity, imported with slides to proceed on click, and imported a different time in a new project with slides to proceed automatically.  Animations in powerpoint are set to play automatically (after previous instead of on click) and work fine in powerpoint.  Audio has been added and removed to see if the audio was an issue.  I have previewed (F4) the project and published to an .exe file to test, but nothing seems to work - the animations continue to pause mid-animation each time.  However, the animations seem to work when previewing just the individual slide (F3)
Any thoughts or suggestions why this is happening?
    Thanks!
    Diana

    Hello!
I have the animations set to "with previous" - I have also tried "after previous":
Here is the timeline in Captivate:
I have also tried to create a separate slide within Captivate and add animations and effects there, but these pause mid-animation as well.
    Thanks!

Moderskeppet, Shreeram was nice enough to include specifics

Ann Ray, there is nothing irksome about it if you are being

brian_rogers, the survey had to do with how you use Captivate

not whether it is Vista compatible. We all know that
Captivate 2 has issues and who would expect anything else since it
pre-dated Vista by a considerable time. But compatibility with

  • Pop-ups (custom animations) work in PPT presentation, but don't in published presenter PDF

Pop-ups (custom animations) work in PPT presentation, but don't in published presenter PDF. I created a file in PowerPoint 2003 that allows the user to click on words in a graphic and have definitions of the word pop-up. This only works in the PPT presentation, it does not work when I publish the file to PDF using Adobe Presenter, version 7.0.5, build 7588. Any suggestions?

    MKO,
That's not entirely surprising.  Unfortunately, what you're doing cannot be replicated or executed properly in Presenter content, because trigger functions are essentially Active X controls native to the PowerPoint environment.  And that's the problem: Active X commands are totally ignored when your deck is converted during the publishing process.
    So what to do?
You have 2 options, and neither are "clean" solutions because each represents a bit of homework.
Scenario 1: what you could do is create a series of hidden slides that are associated with / correspond to each of the text elements you have on the first slide.  You'd have to assign hyperlinks to the text boxes and then point the hyperlinks to the associated hidden slide.  The upside here is that if you have to edit any content after-the-fact, is that you can conduct such edits directly in PowerPoint.  But there is a drawback too; namely, that if you have to keep track of slide views, hidden slides are not tracked at all by LMSs (including Adobe Connect), so you'd have to come up w/ a formula for counting the number of visible slides so your presentation will mark a "complete" on the LMS.
Scenario 2: create a Flash interaction that effectively does the exact same thing.  The drawback to this I hope is obvious: if you have any content edits, then you're forced to edit the file directly in Flash.  The good news here, however, is that this solution only requires one slide, so you can effectively keep track of slide views if that's something you need if the course is deployed on an LMS.
Again, perhaps not ideal, but the above does represent alternative solutions to what you attempted to do in your sample deck.

  • Can't Open Adobe Captivate 4 File in Captivate 5.5

    Hi,
Anything special I should try or be aware of?
Whenever I try to open my 2008 Captivate 4 files in Captivate 5.5, I get the familiar can't-do-that-for-some-reason error message. (The one that suggests the file is already opened, or it was unzipped badly, not enough memory, and so forth.) Since Captivate 5.5 removes the import feature, I can't try that.
So far, I've tried running it with nothing else open on my computer (I have 10 GB of RAM), made sure to empty the cache first, and so forth.
In desperation, I'm also redownloading 4 now and giving that a try, but any other suggestions would be great.

Notes for future searchers... here is how I solved this problem.
Short Answer: Open the file in 4, resave it, and it opened in 5.5.
    Long Answer:
I downloaded Adobe Captivate 4. Fortunately, I had my license active and registered here on the Adobe site. Installation of Adobe Captivate 4 on Windows 7 was a bit weird... it asked me to reinstall Flash which I already had installed, it insisted that Adobe Captivate was currently open, and so forth. I let it reinstall Flash and I rebooted, and 4 was good to go. I made sure to install Captivate 4 in a custom location, not wanting to overwrite any resources or other things in the Adobe folder for 5.5. Then I opened the old file. It actually performed some kind of update thing when I did this, which leads me to believe that I was formerly working with a less-than-latest version of 4 or maybe even 3! Once it completed, I saved it as a new Adobe Captivate 4 file. Then I was able to open THAT file with Adobe Captivate 5.5, and save a new file again.
For some reason, fonts didn't carry over. So I reset them in all my captions, and then recompiled successfully.

  • Quiz in Adobe captivate???Please help???

I am trying to create a 5 question quiz for customers at a tradeshow. customers walk by the computer, enter their name, answer the quiz, submits it. once it is submitted, it displays the screen where a new customer has to enter his name again and start answering quiz...same process..
in the end i should be able to pull out  a report, correct answers by name....
is it possible in adobe captivate????????

Yes and no.  YOu can create a form slide that allows users to enter information and answer quiz questions.  Their entered details and scores for questions can be captured using variables.  However, Captivate is more designed for submitting this kind of information to a Learning Management System.
In order to get what you want for your tradeshow kiosk, you would need to have a custom  database solution of some kind that received the information from your course and entered each different person's details and scores as records.  Captivate doesn't do this for you.  You'll need the services of a web developer, ActionScript 3, or JavaScript developer (and possibly all of them).

  • How to do a Khan Academy video within or uploaded to Adobe Captivate?

Hi wondering if anyone has uploaded a Khan Academy type video into Adobe Captivate, or what was your process and what tools did you use?  This would be an eLearning module with content first then with a virtual learning blackboard video (Kahn Academy) then more content.  Thoughts?  Thanks for your time

This is one way you could do it: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. The thumbnails can be as small as you'd like. This way none of the video files have to load before they play button is selected. Otherwise the page would take forever to load.
How the button is created is described in this demo page: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window
OR you could use a video jutebox like the one on this page: http://www.holyredeemernorthbend.org/HRWeb/Our_Videos.html.
His tutorial on how to implement it is here: http://www.holyredeemernorthbend.org/HRWeb/jukebox.html.

  • Best Practices for Team Collaboration using Adobe Captivate

With a team of 6 Instructional Designers, how can Adobe Captivate be approached where we can collaborate while producing e-learning material while maintaining a consistent look and feel of the e-learning we produce?
What are the best practices for a team of 6 IDs working and creating e-learning material in Captivate?  Is there anything build-in that allows us to connect to the same libraries, templates, etc to share?
    Please advise.
    Thank you!
    Susanne

Only some tips, never collaborated with someone else, being the solo teacher. You didn't mention which version you are using, what I write here is meant for CP7.
Be sure to prepare a theme and/or a template that will be used by everyone. A theme consists of master slides, object styles, skin editor. Master slides can have custom navigation shape buttons.  In a template you can eventually also prepare different slides with placeholders, and eventually advanced actions etc. For CP6 and earlier that is the only way to reuse advanced actions, in Captivate 7 you can export shared actions that can be imported in any project for reuse.
A feature that few users know about are the external libraries. You can open the library of any project as an external library in another project. That is a good idea to store assets that you want to use in different projects: images, audio clips, video clips, eventually equations. The shared actions in a library can not (yet?) be used in another project however.
If you are on CP7 you have automatically the roundtripping with source Adobe Photoshop files and source Audition files, both from CC. That can also make collaboration lot easier if those assets are prepared in those applications. Will not expand on that, because I'm not sure you have the Creative Cloud applications.
    Those are my two cents.

  • Adobe Captivate - HTML5 files to big!

Hello, I am doing elearning courses with Adobe Captivate 6. Don't get me wrong, I love Adobe Products. But there is a love and hate retationship with Adobe Captivate.
I am using the new HTML5 option when I publish a class, but the HTML folder is too big for mobile devices.
I did noticed that it exports all of my images as .PNGs, while I was saving my original images as low res .jpgs.
Is there a way I can export my HTML5 documents as .jpgs instead of .pngs? (Of course all of the static images as jpgs and animations, text with no backgrouns as pngs)
    Any help with be appreciated.

I've just noticed that text is published as PNG images: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5787755#5787755 with text from one slide in my project equating to 40kb in size. Across a large project that's going to stack up pretty heavily.
