Powerpoint Import on Mac is Unusable?

Well, I almost don't know where to begin.
I'm  running CP5 on a mac. Was excited to see a mac version, and wrote to  Pooja (CP5 beta test manager) to ask about issues/gotchas running on a  mac. He led me to believe it was a feature complete release. I'm seeing  other folks having PPT import issues on Windows, but can it be this bad  on the other platform? What I'm seeing is completely unusable.
I  created a 3 slide PPTX using Powerpoint for Mac 2011. CP5 imported and  linked without complaint - I could even see the slide thumbnails in the File Open dialog - but the slides came in without any content. I  only saw the background for my master slide with a clickbox on top and there was no Powerpoint content. So I saved the file in PPT  format, re-imported and same result. So then I opened VMWare and  launched Powerpoint 2010 on Windows 7. Created a PPTX there, re-imported  and same result, so I saved again in PPT format, repeated the import  yet again, and still the same result. I am simply getting no content  whatsoever in CP5 for Mac from Powerpoint!
This leads  me to believe that I must be doing something wrong, because I don't  think Adobe would claim that the feature worked if it didn't.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
FYI, I don't mind building most of the course in CP, but I sure would like to be able to get some Powerpoint tables into CP even as a flattened image.
Thanks,
Kevin

Your issues with roundtripping PPT may be due to the PPT 2011 file format.
Have you tried saving to an earlier version of PPT such as 2007 and then importing that?
I'm on a PC not a MAC, but Cp5 isn't claiming support for PPT 2010 yet as far as I know, so maybe PPT 2011 would be in a similar position.

  • Autoscale small (powerpoint-imported) presentation to a larger screen?

I wished to demo KN to some PC colleagues at work, and just imported a very trivial powerpoint file into Keynote.
I can see everything comes OK but whenever I ask Keynote to just run the show, it presents it in a very small rectangle on my large 17' screen. (the surrounding zone is black)
Needless to say, when I use powerpoint the same presentation auto-scales niftily to use all screen surface available
I didn't dare show this to anyone, because I can already hear the laughs: How can I get the same "auto-scaling" effect that they have on powerpoint?
(also: is the issue due to the powerpoint import, or is it general to Keynote?)
    TIA!

Thanks Tulse for such a quick answer -I'm a bit ashamed now

  • How can I exchange my pc created documents on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with my mac and my Pages, Numbers and Keynote created content with my pc?  I need to create and edit between both.

How can I exchange my pc created documents on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with my mac and my Pages, Numbers and Keynote created content with my pc?  I need to create and edit and exchange between both types of operating systems.

Your Windows system will not open any Pages, Numbers or Keynote documents. No applications exist for Windows that can open those formats. You will need to export your documents in Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats, respectively, before you'll be able to view and edit the documents on your Windows system. The iWork documents can natively open Word, Excel and PP documents, though there are limitations on what can be imported (for instance, Numbers does not support all possible Excel functions). Consult the documentation for the relevant iWork application for details on importing and exporting.
If you are asking how to get the documents from one system to the other, then there are several ways to do that, including file sharing, using an external drive (hard drive, USB flash drive), or emailing the documents to yourself. Which would be best for your situation I can't say without more details about your usage.

  • Importing to Mac Mail Tiger 10.4.8 (intel xeon) From  Netscape (7.2) mail

Importing to Mac Mail Tiger 10.4.8 (intel xeon) From Netscape (7.2) mail.
I can import old mail from Netscape 7.2 into Mac Mail Tiger 10.4.8. And most old mail back from 2002-2004 is imported but starting around MARCH 2005, no more mail is imported. That is out of 10-15 folders imported INTO the "import folder" each new folder contains, older mail but only a few from 2005, and nothing from after march 2005. (perhaps when switched from NS 7.1 to 7.2?? don't know) But in any case viewing with NS mail shows the files and attachments, but they DO not import to Mack mail. (one oddity when viewed in NS mail, if the priority column to be "normal" then they are imported. If empty then not imported.)
Any ideas how to get the rest of this mail into Mac Mail?
    thanks

I simply DID NOT have the correctly dated BACKUP SET!
So NOW with all the data, properly in my Netscape Mail "local folders" I can easiliy (but slowly) convert them to Mac Mail.
Sorry for pulling the trigger too soon, It works perfectly if I use the proper backup data.
    DUH! on me!

  • Problem when saving a PowerPoint 2008 for Mac file to PDF.

When I save my PowerPoint 2008 for Mac file as a PDF, the text/font comes out wrong in the PDF -- kind of looks degraded (thinner, darker, more pixilated). I've tried changing the font in the PowerPoint file many times and tried saving it as a PDF both directly and through print -- but each time the text/font doesn't come through correctly in the PDF.  The images/photos in the PowerPoint file all convert to the PDF just fine.  Can anyone help?

  • How do I remove a white background from clipart in PowerPoint 2008 for Mac?

I have several clip arts that are in .jpeg and .png format.  These are of somewhat irregular shapes, and are on a white background.  I want to eliminate the white background so that I can use these clip arts on colored backgrounds.  I know that there is a simple way to do this in MS PowerPoint 2008 for Mac, but I've forgotten how.  Can anyone help?  Time is of the essence.  Thanks in advance.  - Mark

I still use Office 2008 but have not encountered that issue. However, as Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac
Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

Can I use powerpoint on the mac pro?

Yes. You can use Microsoft Office 2008 or 2011, or a free product such as OpenOffice to open PowerPoint documents.

  • Opening Powerpoint files in Mac and PC

Hi. I sometimes have to create presentations on my MacBook using Powerpoint (I know! Keynote is better and I love it.). I am using Powerpoint 2004 for Mac version 11. I recently discovered that I can't open some powerpoint files on Windows-based computers with Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 Professional Edition, but could open them with a 2002 version. Does this have something to do with the windows version or my Mac? Since I have to share the files with my colleagues, I often have to open the files from someone else's computer (which has a 2002 PPT version) then save the file to a PPT 97-2003 & 95 version just so my colleagues with a 2003 version can open the files. Is there a simpler way to solve this compatibility problem? Hope someone can help me. Thanks!

    Hi Orange Girl
I have tried to replicate your problem using two different versions of PowerPoint 2003 on two different computers and have managed to open the files without any problems.
Which specific versions of PowerPoint do you have on the Mac and the PC.
    On the Mac
    From the menu
    PowerPoint > About PowerPoint
    Example
    Version 11.0 (104441)
    On the PC
    From the menu
Help > About Microsoft Office PowerPoint
    Example
    11.5529.5606

  • How do I import Word:Mac docs into DW MX for Mac?

Hi. How do I import Word:Mac docs into DW MX for Mac? Thanks!

Have you tried direct import from the word document itself by going to:
File >> Import >> Word Document
This facility is available in CS 4 and after but I am not sure if it was
there in MX versions.  Otherwise the only option left is to paste the
text into a text file and then copy/paste it in your webpage in DW.
Copy Special might work if you do it in Code View.

  • Question about importing from mac mail to folder in address book

Is it possible to place imported email addresses (Mac email) into specific folder(s) in Address Book rather than into just the All Folder.? For example, I have several business addresses that I want to import from Mac Mail automatically into my Business Folder and several others that I want to go into Friends Folder. Can this be done? If so how? Thanks
iMac Intel Duo 20" Mac OS X (10.4.10)
      Mac OS X (10.3.7)

The Address Book database is similar to the iTunes database and iPhoto database.
If you use iTunes then you know you can't place a song in a playlist without the song being in the primary iTunes database first and the same with iPhoto. You can't place a photo in an album with the photo being in the main iPhoto library first.
The same with Address Book. You can't place a contact in an Address Book group without the contract being in the primary Address Book "All" Group and I'm not aware of a way to place a contact in the primary All group and in a designated group at the same time.

  • How do I cut and paste a picture from the Internet to PowerPoint on a Mac?

HHow do I cut and paste a picture from the Internet to PowerPoint on a Mac?

Kind of depends on where the picture is. Usually you can just select it and if you can move it you can drop it onto the desktop.
You should always check usage rights when you use a picture off the Internet. If it's for a school project or personal then there should be no problem.
Pictures that require a royalty fee are usually marked.

  • PowerPoint importing and editing

I'm fairly new to captivate with very little training.  What I know, which is very basic, I have figured out by trial and error. The agency I work for just upgraded to Captivate 8.  I would like to know more about developing in PowerPoint, importing the PowerPoint to captivate and then editing the material.  I have figured out how to import individual PowerPoint slides, but not a complete course.  Do you have any suggestions on where I could find this information?  Another question I have is, how do you account for this size difference when developing something in PowerPoint and importing it to an 800 X 600 captivate?  As an agency, we set a standard to us an 800 X 600 captivate size.

Importing PPT-slides is not a good idea, if you want to edit the slides, because each PPT-slide will be converted into sort of a movie slide. The different objects will not be editable. If you want a PPT plug-in there are other and better solutions. Captivate is a real eLearning tool. Use the assets and create the CP-file from scratch if you want to edit. And it is not even possible to use PPT-slides for responsive projects in Captivate.
To create a CP-file from a PPT, use File, New Project, Project from MS Powerpoint. The CP-file will choose a resolution that is the same as the PPT-file. One of the crazy ideas of PPT is that slide size is in print units (in or cm) instead of the more logical screen units (px).

  • Why can I not open a PowerPoint on my Mac. What do I need to do?

How do I open a PowerPoint on my Mac Air.  What do I need to do? Is there a mac version of a powerpoint?

You can purchase MS Office '11 from the Mac App Store, an Apple retail store, the Apple on-line store, or other software outlets.  You can also try the MS website and see if they are offering on-line downloads at this time.
