PowerPoint in iPhoto

How do I import PowerPoint slides into iPhoto? I want to burn a dvd on it to play on other computers so I don't have to transport my MAC on vacation. Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can try the following. In the slide viewer mode select all the slides and start a print job. In the print window click on the PDF button and select Send PDF to iPHoto. This will create a jpg of each slide and import it into the album of your choice in iPhoto. From there you can export them to iDVD and create the slideshow from there.
DOWNSIDE: you will lose any of the animated transition and special effects. If you want to keep those you may have to export the presentation as a Quicktime movie and use that in iDVD. However, you will lose the manual advance and forward part of a presentation. You will need to use the fast forward/reverse buttons on the remote.
Tutorial #6 describes how to get an iPhoto book into iPhoto and then to iDVD and would be very similar to what can be dome with a PP presentation.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IDVD burning

I have a Keynote presentation with 50 slides and music that was exported to iDVD. The problem is that when I go to burn a dvd, i get the following error, "Error During Track Initialization"
I am new to mac's love all the software but not if it isn't going to be useful. Is there anybody that can help.
I have read some posts that talk about Quick Time or something like that which I don't have except what is free to all users.
Second, I don't want to recreate the slideshow in powerpoint or iphoto or anything else. I like the Keynote presentation with the audio file that is attached to it and I just want to burn it to a dvd and play it on a tv.
Frustrated and tired at 3:00 am

Here's a couple of things you might try
Save the project as a disk image
Burn the disk image using Disk Utility at a slow speed (1x or 2x)
Use Maxcell or Verbatim DVD-R (not +R or -RW or other cheap brands of media)
    hope this helps

  • MBP froze, then trackpad inverted

    Hi,
    I've got a mid 2007 MBP, 2.2GHz, 2GB ram, running 10.4.11.
I just had a seriously weird and scary incident. I was just browsing the net, having woken the computer from sleep after a short walk to school. After about 2 minutes worth of browsing, the computer totally froze, with no response from anything, track pad or keyboard, no force quit, no mouse movement at all. I gave it some time to gather it's thoughts, see if it would come out of this, and then after about 30 seconds, the trackpad starts responding, except backwards and in big jumps.
So the trackpad was inverted, meaning if I moved my finger down, the mouse on the screen moves up. By "big jumps" i mean I'd move my finger just a little, and the mouse would jump about inch or two across the screen. THis went on for about 10 seconds before it froze again, and i just forced the computer off by holding the power button.
Lately I've noticed I've had many many page outs, despite 2GB of ram. Just approximately, it'd be something like 200,000 page ins and 150,000 page outs after a day or two of uptime. I don't know if this could be related.
Unfortunately, I let my last chance to buy applecare slip by me while I was in Europe this summer, so this computer is no longer covered under warranty (been kicking myself in the pants ever since, I simply forgot when i bought the computer and thought it had been later on!)
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
    Jeff

thanks for the response. I'll try a disk repair, and if that doesn't work, i'll just reformat, i've got everything backed up pretty much.
I'm surprised about the RAM though... just a year or two ago, 2GB was a lot of ram, and it's not like I'm doing anything more than I used to. Mail, Safari, iTunes, Word and Powerpoint, sometimes iPhoto, and more rarely, Matlab and Labview... but I see a lot of pageouts even before I start using those last two programs. They keep finding ways to make us need more ram and newer computers just to do the same stuff!

  • IPhoto and Powerpoint Resolution issues

I'm currently making a book for a recent trip and I wanted to design my own pages versus using the defaults in iPhoto. I designed my own page using powerpoint and sent it to iphoto. When I put the picture on the page in iPhoto it shows the low resolution warning. The photos were taken in 8 megapixel, but the powerpoint slides show in iPhoto as 720 x 540. Does anyone know how to convert powerpoint slides in higher resolution? Did I miss something?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Go into PP's slide sorter mode, select all of the slides and start a print job of them. Once in the Print window select the PDF->Send PDF to iPhoto option. That will produce a 2200 x 1700 pixel jpg file for each slide in the presentation and import it into iPhoto. You can then use those images for your pages.
If you would like a larger dimension file for each slides edit the Send PDF to iPhoto workflow with Automator and change the 200 dpi to 300 dpi. You can find that workflow in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder.
Tutorial #6 describes how it's done with an iPhoto book so that you can make a iDVD slideshow or web page slideshow. It's the same process. This is the result of the web slideshow of a book.

  • How do you download a photo from Microsoft Powerpoint and put it into Iphoto?

I'm editing a video for my youth group and I can't get the photo from the powerpoint my youth minister emailed me to upload to iphoto, thus not letting me put it in imovie. I've tried having both windows open and just dragging the photo from one to the other and that didn't work. I tried copying and pasting it into iphoto, but when i right-click in iphoto the option to paste doesn't even show up. The photo is a .tiff, so could that have something to do with it? Any help is appreciated, and a prompt response would be greatly appreciated as we are plannign on showing the video tomorro morning.
    Thanks!

For the one page in the ppt presentation that you want to get into iPhoto do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto.
This creates a 200 dpi jpg image of whatever you're "printing" and imported it into iPhoto.  You can do it from any application.

  • IPhoto Album to Keynote/Powerpoint Presentation

Is there any automated way of sending an album of iPhoto pictures to a Keynote or Powerpoint presentation with each picture as their own slide?
    Thanks

    Hello Someone!
I know of two ways to kind of "batch" automate your process:
    1. Your keynote presentation that should hold your slides is open. The keynote window must show the thumbnails of your slides on the left side (Presumably, there is only one there yet - the automatically created first slide - to be seen.) If they are not shown, go to the view menu and select "Navigator". Select all the pictures you want to have in your keynote file in iPhoto and drag them over into the thumbnail view on the left side (not onto the slide!). That should create one slide for each photo.
As for PowerPoint, I don't know whether the things said above work - they should, though. But with powerpoint you can use the application to build a slide show from files in a folder. Well, for this you just have to create a folder of your images from iPhoto, easy enough...
    2. If you are on OS X Tiger you can run the "automator" application to do this. Open keynote and select a theme so a file to hold your slides is open. Open automator and create a workflow. Select iPhoto on the library pane in automator and drag the action "Ask for photos" to the right pane. Make sure "Allow multiple selection" is checked.
Select keynote in the library pane and drag the action "Create Image slide" under(!) "Ask for photos". They should be connected by "Files/Folders". Set the options according to your likings, then run the script. Automator will let you choose images from the iPhoto library. Just make sure you really select the images (so they have the blue selection rectangle around) in this sheet (lower section of the sheet), not only the iPhotoAlbum or so. Click the arrow to run the workflow. Save it for reuse...
There are powerpoint actions on apples website for download, they should provide you with the same possibilities for this application, but I did not try these.

I am unable to import pictures from iPhoto to Powerpoint 2011 :Need hekp; Using Mavericks  and updated Microsoft powerpoint also...
    Need urgent help..
    Thank you

You do not ever directly access the contents of the iPHoto library - use the media browser - in the lower left of the insert window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

  • Iphoto slideshows and powerpoint

I made a powerpoint presentation using multiple iphoto slideshows and some qtvr movies. the presentation works great out of powerpoint but when I save it as a movie file the iphoto slideshows are blank. Is there a specific way to save the iphoto slideshow before putting it into a powerpoint? I will also need it to be compatible with windows.
Also they won't play on windows based powerpoint.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Export the slideshows from iPhoto as QuickTime movies.
    Does Windows Powerpoint support Quicktime?

  • Iphoto and Powerpoint

Would appreciate it if any one can help. My daughter has just got back from doing a presentation at school. She cant use Pages as the school PC systems just cant read it. She created in Powerpoint and imported photos from Facebook and iphoto by using drag and drop. When she got to school the presentation worked, but all the photos had "You need Quicktime decompressor to view this photo" any idea why or how this can be corrected? Thanks

In addition to Larry's suggestion consider this…
after she's done creating the presentation in Power Point, she could also just export it as a PDF via *Print > Save as PDF…*
PDF is a very compatible format and can usually be viewed anywhere. To present a PDF full-screen simply do the following:
    1) in Preview on the Mac press Command (Apple) + Shif + F
    2) in Adobe Reader press Command (PC: CTRL) + L
Advance by pressing the arrow keys. For simple, static slides this is in my experience the most trouble-free method and it avoids the problems you mentioned as well as the need to resave every image in a different format.

  • Using iPhoto with Powerpoint, seeing libraries & thumbnails

    Hi there,
I'm new to Mac and have been playing with powerpoint and comparing it to Keynote. In Keynote you can see the iPhoto libraries and select thumbnails, but I can't find out how to see the libraries and thumbnails in powerpoint...can the photos be viewed this way? At the moment I'm either:
    1. in powerpoint Insert/Picture/From File, then have to go through the iPhoto Finder directory which does not organise the photos in the libraries (i.e. not a direct folder copy from iPhoto to Finder), so this makes it hard to find a photo for inserting
    OR
    2. drag and drop from iPhoto to powerpoint.
    Are these my only options?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Powerpoint is not integrated with the iLife apps as Keynote is. So, you pretty much got as to your options.
No, iPhoto does not have folders with the contents of Albums. Albums are virtual entities, in reality, they are really instructions to iPhoto to display certain photos together. These arrangements are tracked in the library6.iphoto file.
However, Film Rolls (View -> Film Rolls) correspond exactly with the Rolls in the iPhoto Library Folder / Originals.
In brief, there are three ways to get pics from the iPhoto Window:
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Deleted iphoto and powerpoint

I was trying to clean up my desktop and I put Iphoto and powerpoint into the trash, thinking it'd be okay cause they were in my dock. I emptied my trash.  The app icons show up in the doc but wont open and have a question mark within them. Mac OS X Verison 10.6.8. Do I have to purchase new apps?

You need to reinstall them from their original disks, or in the case of an iPhoto version which shipped with the Mac, the computer's original disks.

How do you move photo's from iphoto to keynote or powerpoint? How do you insert them into slides?

Your signature suggests you are asking about iPhoto on a mac:
To use the Media Browser in "Pages" as Douglas McLaughlin suggest:
Click "Media" in the toolbar, select the "Photos" tab in the "Media" browser panel, select "iPhoto"; for example:

  • Dragging iPhoto images into Powerpoint

When I drag photos from iPhoto 6.0.5 into a Powerpoint X slide, I get a blank white box with the message that "Quicktime and TIFF (uncompressed) decompressor is needed to see this picture."
This was not a problem with iPhoto 5.
Has anyone come up with a drag-and-drop solution for this? I know I can get around it by exporting to the desktop and then dragging into Powerpoint, but since I do this hundreds of times per week I would rather be able to drag-and-drop directly.

I have the same problem for Word. I found that I can go into edit mode in iphoto and then the thumbs will drag and drop like they used to...
The same thing happened with my old G4 using iphoto 6

  • Iphoto 5 problems in powerpoint?

    Hi
I am trying to insert photos into a powerpint slide (multiple images at a time) and have tried copy and paste, drag and drop and googled my question in lots of different ways and i am stuck.
I then came across another problem and i am unable to see my iphotos in photo browser in powerpoint and a message pops up saying 'open iphoto 5 or later to see photos from your iphoto library in this list'???
So i then tried to download iphoto 5 and it came up saying i had a more updated version.
    please help.

Yeah, all updated via Lenovo "System update" and Windows update. I have not checked if the problem exists in newer versions of Microsoft Office - I'm using 2007. What is interesting in Optimus mode on external monitor running on Nvidia everything is OK - no display refreshing in Powerpoint and Excel is present only in Discrete Mode.

  • Iphoto: custom book started in powerpoint. Yow. Need help.

Very frustrated. A newbie at this. Trying to put together cooking recipes and photos into a book for a gift.Wanted more text (like 3/4 s of a page) and more font sizes than allowed. Tried cut and pasting; many yellow warning triangles.
Have started and quit for months! Tried to read User 'Temecula Froggie web hints ( #19) but that section loads and then disappears before I can read it. OR should I just use powerpoint and download to a site like Kinkos?
Would appreciate any help you can provide.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try this link: Old Toad's Tutorial #19 - Creating a Custom Text Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book.#19. This will take you to the contents page from where you can click on #19. Don't know why it would not load for you. Try a gain.
Briefly, go to the thumbnail mode in Powerpoint and type Command+P. In the next window click on the PDF button and select save PDF to iPhoto.
