Powerpoint in Premiere

A client gives me lots of Powerpoints (ugh, if you know what I mean- the only thing worse than sitting through a PPT... is editing a PPT).
I know you can't import PPT to Premiere, so I usually save as jpgs and edit away...
Lately, I've been getting more complex PPTs with things like animations in graphs, flying arrows, etc.
But if you save as a movie, you lose the animations and layers of text pile up on each other.
Is there any way to keep these animations intact?
PS- I'm fairly ignorant of PPT- I break them down, not build them  :^)
On a Mac, CS6

I was recently googling about exporting powerpoint as movies files and there appears to be a big difference between powerpoint on a Mac and a Windows computer. It seems that transitions and animations are much more restricted on a Mac than on Windows. So if you are having problem with a PPTX file on a Mac, try exporting is on a Windows machine. Unfortunately on Windows, it outputs a WMV file - not good for a Mac.

  • Macbook Pro struggling - Adding iMac for Photo/Video.  Advice?

Hey everyone!  I'm new around these parts.
Anyhow, I've been working as a photographer for some years now, and am just starting to dabble into film-making as well.  In the past, I've used 6, then 12MP cameras.  RAW files were roughly 25MB.  Nothing too hard to deal with.  Now, I have a Nikon D800.  The RAW files from this beast are reaching 80MB.  It's shooting uncompressed 4:2:2 1080p video.  All of this computes to REALLY slow editing, and lots of lag.  Especially with video.
I've really worked my 15" Macbook Pro to death, and I would like to add an iMac for my video and photo editing needs.  Here are the current specs of my macbook:
    2.0GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
    500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
    8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
Here are the programs I frequent:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
    Adobe Audition CS5.5
    Adobe After Effects CS5.5
    Adobe Bridge CS5.5
    Word 2007
    Powerpoint 2007
Premiere and After Effects, as well as Audition at time, are generally open at the same time to take advantage of the dynamic link.  So, my Macbook is seriously having trouble keeping up.  It's taking me upwards of 45 seconds to render 30 frames of a single layer of video.  That's just no good when you're working with a longer production.  Rendering files has become something I have to do while I busy myself someplace else waiting for it to finish.  It's become a serious issue.
So, knowing all that, what specs would you recommend for an iMac?  A Mac Pro just isn't an option, financially, at this time.  If you need to know any more information, I'd be happy to oblige.
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Mark

    There's a difference of $20 between this 21":
    2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    1TB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GDDR5
    Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide
    Apple Remote
    And this 27":
    2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    1TB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GDDR5
    Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide
    Apple Remote
So, not too much difference.  Would you say the extra 0.1GHz will make enough difference to choose the 21" over the 27"?  Sorry, I don't know much about terminology and specifics.  That's why I come to you.  I just know that the extra 6" will really come in handy for both my photo and video work.

  • Export Help for PE8 to Quicktime

    Hi -
I am a bit over my head and need some video output advice!
I put together a webinar in my new Premier Elements 8 and I've tested no less than a dozen output fomats and I'm not getting the results that I need.  The images look great  but the text looks fuzzy.  I am working with a series of still images (which inlcude the text) and an audio track.  Here was my process:
    - The webinar was built in Powerpoint which I then exported each slide to a TIFF file (resolution for each looks good)
    - I then brought in the individual images as media and added the audio track, adjusting timing accordingly
    - The finished webinar is long - 41 minutes.  I need to export this to .mov for Quicktime for playback that will stream through a website
I've tested a 30 second piece with both of the existing Quicktime presets and neither one produces clear enough text.  I've tried MPEG in HD and it looks much better, but of course that's a huge file that will then need to be compressed into Quicktime, so that doesn't seem ideal either.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you so much.....

Unfortunately, the transition from PowerPoint to Premiere Elements is not a smooth one. PowerPoint  just doesn't produce a clean enough image
Getting a clean image out of PowerPoint (or other elements of Ms Office) always proved difficult (I believe) because of the Metafile format. This always seemed to dupe most image capturing software (pixellation, tears, noise, false colour backgrounds).
However there has always been one piece of software, on every Windows PC sold, that deals with it beautifully - the oft derided MS-Paint application. I've always been able to get a good clean image by copying an image from PowerPoint, pasting it into MS-Paint and then saving it out as .BMP for further processing. There is a symmetry here with PRE workflows - trying to get an image into a format that can be easily edited.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 16:9 w/ Powerpoint Slide problems. Beginner.

I'm a beginner to video editing. I have experience working on computer hardware, diagnostics, and software development (programming). Due to this I am the resident "tech" in the family. Leading to this project landing on my lap. I am working on a project for a family member and have little to no experience with Premiere Pro.
The concept is simple, to edit a series of lectures some 8 hours long. They will be chopped into sessions of varying length and put into a PiP with a powerpoint slideshow background. I was provided with a set of .mts video files(Canon Vixia HF R300) and powerpoint files(office 2003).
I exported the ppt as jpg images. The powerpoint was made with office 2003, so the jpg's were 4:3. I fixed this by loading them in Photoshop adjusting height to 720 then adding side bars of the same background color. I now have a 1280x720 jpg.
I load it up into PPro and edit the video. Although it looks fine in the preview window, after export the video's height is stretched. I can't figure out why. I'm exporting to 16:9 and it tells me the dimensions are 1280x720. Any ideas what could be causing this issue?

Where can I find the PAR? How can I change it? I assume my problem is the video, jpg, and exported video all have differing PAR values. I've just acquired CS6, so hopefully by the end of the day I will have it up and running and can import my current project files.
On a side note, i'm unfamiliar with the concept of multiple sequences and exporting to encore. Until now i've created a different project file for each lecture session. I really only have experience with photoshop but always intended to explore the other adobe products. Are there any recommended guides to show me the basics and how the programs are integrated?

  • Do the practiced Adobe Premiere Pros fear the last second PowerPoint glitch, or feel insulated from it?

It is my fanciful idea that cheap editing programs may be more likely to make the inevitable hangs that professionals encounter when trying to do a Power Point presenation or other small public meeting, is Adobe more certain to ensure the video, other, content performs, plays, or is there an increased doubt as to whether presentations will play, owing to the (unthinkably intricate and highly woven) complexity Adobe Premiere requires, innately?
This is a conversational question, but from camera-or-microphone-to-rock solid presentation dependability, like a public participation, what is the most rock solid, bulletproof, start to finish, imagine a VCR in factuality, how far have we (world) strayed from that rock solid, button press, certainty?  Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Can anyone do this?
I have saved the slides individually to JPEG, but wondering if anyone has tried this or found a simple effective way of inserting it into / timeline/project?

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 11 in the 'minimize' state "tracks" when moved across screen...

I have finally found time to work on and to learn how to use my recently purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (APE11) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, using Adobe’s respective ‘Classroom In A Book’ training aid I recently purchased. To my disappointment when I open Adobe Premiere Elements 11 in the 'minimize' state it “tracks” when I try to move it across the screen, (see images), making it impossible and unacceptable to use. It only happens with APE11 and not with Photoshop, Premiere Organizer, MS Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc.), or any other programs on my computer. Also, the “tracking” doesn’t happen to a video within the APE11 video working space. I have installed this instance of APE11 twice to no avail using the Adobe defaults. See the added images for the current configuration of my PC and the APE11 version I have. I noticed in APE11’s Properties that I don’t have Compatibility checked-off because I never have had a previous version (see image). I do the Microsoft & Windows 7 updates regularly. This PC was purchased and configured to work on photo and video editing & manipulation, along with my everyday use. [Purchased on 2/22/13 from a reputable company Computer Links, Burlington, NC 27215, 336-226-4738 Invoice# 148599, (Technician: Matt). I am not a computer science person, which is why I relied on Matt to configure my PC. As this appears to be an AEP11 issue I am relying on you to resolve the issue verse Matt. Your support with this is much appreciated.
I had one person kindly suggest "Could you try to update your graphic card drivers, if they are not current"? If I knew how to & where located on PC I would consider it, however I would think it would be current as it was new when PC was purchase 2/22/13 and if it was out-of-date why wouldn't the other programs on the PC also 'track', such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, MS Ofiice Suite programs, etc.? (PS: I thought I posted this in the Adobe Premiere Elements area 5/19/13, apparently I posted it in the "Downloading, Installing, Setting Up" discussions area instead, & didn't see a way to move it?? I started in APE11 Area.)

    ATR and Reese,
It appears Matt solved my issue earlier today and I have been testing it without a failure.
Matt determined it was the Personailization "Themes" I was using. I had the Theme "Windows Classic" selected from the "Basic and High Contrast Themes..." group, and when he changed it to one of the "Aero Themes" the Adobe Premiere Elements "TRACKING" problem went away. He and I are not sure why it works by changing the theme, but it appears to. Using the Aero Theme continues toi allow me to use my own photos for "Desktop Background" and "Screen Saver".
The path to it is via the PC display by right clicking your mouse, select "Personalize", select one of the "Aero Themes" and go from there according to personal taste. See image below:
Note: Something for Adobe to consider going forward, if the above remains a solution. Matt says as I am using Windows 7 I have a selection between Themes, either "Windows Classic" from the "Basic and High Contrast Themes..." group or one of the "Aero Themes" (which resolved my Tracking problem), however Windows 8 did away with the "Aero Themes" and there isn't a choice then what? He isn't sure if there will be a tracking problem or not.
ATM any thoughts on why the above Themes setting would make a difference?
ATM thanks for all your help, along with Matt of Computer Links, Burlington, NC , 336-226-4738. I will update this posting as events occur, both good and bad.
    Cheers and Regards,

I wouldn't think the graphic card would be out of date as it was part of the 2/22/13 PC purchase, however I don't know how to verify it using Windows 7 to be sure if it is or isn't. If it was the graphic's card, wouldn't the other programs, such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, the MS Office Suite Programs, etc., on the PC also 'track'?.

  • Power Point + Premiere Elements 12

Is it possible to import a power point presentation into Premiere Elements??

    Cabbagepatchkid
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
What version of PowerPoint do you have? See File Menu/Save and Send.
If you have PowerPoint 2010, you should be able to export .jpg and .wmv files from PowerPoint project and import them from the hard drive save location into
Premiere Element 12 with Premiere Elements 12's Add Media/Files and Folders.
Have you been there and done that?
Please let us know if you found the features mentioned in your PowerPoint program.

  • Video from Premiere

What are the best export settings to use in Premiere for the
best quality video in Presenter. The video was shot on miniDV
(720x480). We want to use the Presenter output through a video
projector for standup training, then put the show on the Internet
    later on.
Is it best to export at 720x480 even though the size we will
use on the PPT slide is smaller?
Are there settings to increase the quality of the Presenter
output other than setting the Video to "High?" I've also set
    PowerPoint to the highest setting.
    thanks in advance

I post a lot of videos to a university media server. I used to do all Windows Media files and then go through the process of creating redirector files to refer to them, to prevent direct downloading. A couple of months ago, I began using Encore to export to Flash. It creates all the files you need, including an index.html with the Flash player embedded, and puts them all neatly in a folder you can upload to your media server. All it requires for viewing is a flash-enabled web browser and a broadband connection. On the plus side, anything I can put on a DVD can be put on this same web page, including menus, subtitles, etc. On the minus side, the Flash player skin is not customizable, and the video cannot go full screen. I'm hoping that changes with CS4.

  • How to achieve the distort motion effect ala Final Cut Pro in Premiere CS4?

    Newbie here.
I have just recently started with video editing. In Final Cut Pro I have the option to distort a still image in the motion/effects panel. In premiere cs4 I only find the option to scale it up/down without the option to individually distort the four corners. Does anyone know how this can be done in premiere cs4?
The effect i am going for is the same as in Apples presentation of iPad. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/specialevent0110/

Any help would be appreciated. ( I have searched around for an solution, but without results)

Here is a resource, that deserves a bookmark, the PrPro-Wiki. Plenty of great FAQ articles and tutorials.
I see the "Distort" part of the Effect in FCP, but the "Motion" aspect was throwing me. I kept thinking Posterize Time, and that is anything but what you were looking for. That's why I was going to head to Google for the FCP Help files, or similar.

  • Powerpoint text slides unreadable

Hello, I am inserting Powerpoint(2007) slides into a video of a presentation. These slides have a lot of text on them, and when I put them into Premiere, they become virtually unreadable. The only effect I am adding is .5 anti-flicker, which blurs the slides a bit and makes them a LITTLE more readable (1.0 anti-flicker just looks like I need glasses).
The slides are exported from PPT as bitmaps to avoid text compression issues. Their native resolution is 960x720 (4:3), while the video is 720x480 (3:2). I'm reducing each slide to about 50% of its original size so it will fit on the screen.
I've looked around for anything that would help make this text readable, but I was unsuccessful so far. I am using Adobe CS3.
    Thanks for any help!

The issue becomes one of building a PP slide for computer screens, which are typically much higher resolution than TV screens. PP creators aren't often aware of this and so don't take any care to make their slides "TV friendly" (text size, overscan, interlacing, etc.)
You may simply have to rebuild the slides in Premiere/Photoshop, or even redesign the entire presentation as making the text large enough to read might also make it too large to fit all of it on the same slide.
What would be nice is if Microsoft would incorporate a sort of "Video Mode" into PowerPoint, which will only allow 720 x 480 screen sizes, will not allow any elements but the background to be placed outside of a 10% Safe Title area, will not allow any text with point sizes to small to read when displayed on a 27' TV from 13 feet away, would not allow any 'unsafe' colors, and such like that. Only then can we video producers get truly compatible PowerPoint's from out clients (who would be fully expected to design their presentations using the TV Template from scratch, or redesign it after the fact if they decide later they want to add it to a video.)
