PowerPoint into Video in Captivate

I've imported a PowerPoint into Adobe Captivate but when I play it, it doesn't play as a continuous video.
Am I doing anything wrong? Can someone let me know the steps I need to follow?

Hi there
When you import PPT, you have an option on the dialog you see that determines how slides will progress. The default is "on mouse click". This will place a Click Box object on each slide that pauses playback until the user clicks.
If you have already imported and don't want to import again, edit one of the click boxes and remove the pause, then apply the changes to all the other click boxes as shown below:

  • Problems when embedding animations (aka videos) in Captivate 4

I am still encountering a major problem with embedded videos.
I have a main project and within this project I am selecting Insert Animation (a swf file).
The problems are many, depending on whether I preview, publish to hard drive, or publish to Connect Pro.
In short, the videos do not play correctly.
    Problems include:
    - Embedded video will play about 1/2 way and go black (when in preview or published locally);
    - The first embedded video on slide 13 (example) will begin playing its audio on slide 1 (when published locally or on Connect Pro)
    - Only the first 1/2 second will play before going blank (when published on Connect Pro)
It does not seem to matter what the timing options are or if I select Sync with project.
This issue was discussed in the past, in fact, a solution was found. There is a 3rd party widget made by Michael that solves this embedded video problem. The caveat is that it does not work when the project is saved on Connect Pro.

I currently have a tier 2 case with Adobe technical support but I am wondering if anyone is doing what I am trying to accomplish and if so, have you found your own solution?
    Thank you

    Hi Shawn
I'm guessing the black part goes away when you view the project without Connect Pro in the picture?
I haven't managed to test this yet, but one thought I had was to try creating a one slide Presenter project in Microsoft PowerPoint. Add the Captivate SWF to the PowerPoint slide. Then add the loader SWF as a Presenter Attachment.
My hope here is that the attachment would be stored in the same folder location as the rest of it all. Then Captivate would find it and work with it.
If that fails, you could also try adding the loader SWF and the additional SWF on the same slide as the main Captivate SWF.
You might give that a go and see how far it takes you.

  • Embed multiple YouTube videos in Captivate 5.5

I have multiple YouTube videos that I would like to insert into one Captivate file, each video on a separate slide. If the learner moves away from the slide, I'd like the video to stop. If they should return to the slide, ideally the video would be a the beginning point.
I've been searching for a while. I found one where it will play one YouTube video per Captivate file, but not multiple videos. Also that one would show a transparent gray over the video while it played.
    Thank you for any assistance.

    Erik,
Thank you for replying. I apologize that I did not reply sooner.
I thought I found a widget that I could embed the YouTube videos within a slide, but was having problems trying to get it to work.
I changed my plan and now have the video opening in a separate window. Because we do not have a technical person to help us for possible future issues this will be a better direction for us to move in.
    Again, thank you!

  • Multiple videos in Captivate 7

If anyone has experience with this scenario, I would greatly appreciate your suggestions --
I have multiple training videos that I want to put together into a single Captivate file. Each video will be on its own separate slide, with a table of contents that navigates to each video. On some slides there will be text and pictures, in addition to the video. The output needs to be compatible with iPad, so HTML5.
Is Captivate a good tool for this, or wil the file size be prohibitive because of the video files (each video is about 15MB). If so, is there some way to smoothly integrate the videos with a link and perhaps store them in a different location on the web?
This project does not need to be compatible with an LMS, although there may be some simple quiz slides included just for the learner's benefit.

    No ideas about this?

If anyone can help, it would be great. everytime i import powerpoint into captivate, the last one-fifth of the slide (every single slide) is missing. it used to import just fine and all of a sudden it is not working. why is this?

  • Powerpoint editing problems in Captivate 5

I'm working with Captivate 5 and powerpoint 2003. When attempting to import a 90 slide presenation into captivate, only the first 5 slides would import. As a work around, I was able to save the PP2003 presentation as powerpoint 2007. I was able to import all 90 slides at that point. But now, it seems like captivate will not sync with the presentation (2007). Also, I can only make changes to a slide once in captive. If I try to make multiple changes at different times, I get a message stating "The slide does not exist in the Microsoft Powerpoint presentation. Update the presentation resource with the latest file and try editing". Could it be due to the fact that I have the 2003 version of powerpoint loaded on my machine?

    Hi there
I believe the question was answered by AndyKingInOC earlier in the thread. Sorry
The thing is, links don't survive the trip when the PowerPoint is converted to Captivate format. If you want links, you will need to add them yourself after importing. I do see the other typical issues of the links not working when testing locally have been covered, so I won't rattle on about that.
Andy suggested using a button. Personally I disagree. I have no clue why so many folks believe a transparent button is the thing to use. A Click Box does the same thing and is already invisible by default. What you are seeing with the interference of operation when additional elements are added simply underscores my own description of Captivate. And that description is: Captivate is "deceptively simple". I say that because it's usually drop dead simple to just create something and show it. But once you begin embellishing it and adding new elements, complexity creeps in as those elements interact with one another. Buttons and Click Boxes for example. Both of these elements normally pause the slide. And the pausing may cause other elements to appear not to work. Fortunately, the pause may be turned off if you like.
The bottom line is that if you want to add a link, you need to add something like a Click Box, configure it to open what you are linking to and superimpose it over the area the user will click.

  • Excel graphs in powerpoint into imovie

What is the best way to put excel graphs into imovie? I need to put 2 graphs together on one sheet, so I have aranged them in powerpoint, and saved the powerpoint as a JPEG, and as a powerpoint movie but when I import these into imovie, the quality is really bad, and the text is blury when its desplayed on a larger screen. Any ideas, on how to put a powerpoint into an imovie? Thanks!

iMovies goal is "projection" on TV - in PAL countries that has a screen resolution of 768x576 (.. and that is max, in real life it is less...)
second, a computer has no interlacing - that is a good trick for moving images on TV, but that "blurrs" any detailed content...
    sooo....
you charts will be minimized & blurred. in case you used any serif-typo, the tiny lines will vanish/flirr.. that isn't iM fault, but due to TV standards....
    I would:
use Excel to export directly into some pict format (tiff isn't bad, because no compression); I don't see any need to make an inbetween step in some slideshow app ... (???)
and I would "tune" in Excel the formats: not too much content, san-serif typo, no bright colors (as pure red), no 1pix lines etc....
    best practise:
re-create new, "video compatible" charts in some pic maker (e.g. Photoshop) by using the correct settings from the beginning - you instantly see what you get...
don't forget: judge pic quality of iM projects only TV screen!
    besides:
dpi is an internal-file-info just need for PRINTS... a 10x10pix picture is displayed as 10x10 pix on every computer's screen... independed of 72dpi, 120dpi, or 2400dpi... bigger dpi's make file size larger, but not better for monitor use....

  • How do I disconnect a Powerpoint presentation from a Captivate .cp?

I am a new user to captivate. I am using Captivate 4. I imported a powerpoint presentation into my captivate slides. I am not sure what I did, but the presentation is connected across my captivate presentations. For example: While practicing I created four presentations. If I edit a .ppt slide in one captivate, the slide edits in the other three. How do I disconnect the powerpoint slides from the captivates?
Also, I have tried to import a new .ppt into a captivate and captivate will only open the old .ppt, even though I am pointing to the new one. Why is that?
    Thank you,
    Condopoe

You may need to change the linkage to the PowerPoint file so that it becomes embedded instead of linked.
Here are the instructions from the Help:
Change link type after importing the presentation
Open the Adobe Captivate project in Edit mode and navigate to a slide that was imported from the PowerPoint presentation.
Click Edit PPT and select Find Presentation In Library. When you select this option, the PowerPoint presentation containing the slide is highlighted in the library.
In the Library panel, right-click the presentation in the Presentation folder.
    Do one of the following:
Select Change To Linked if you have not linked to (embedded) the presentation during import. Specify a location for the linked file on your computer.
Select Change To Embedded to embed the linked file into your project.

  • I finished making an animated .gif image in FireWorks. My question is, how do I convert it into video so that when I edit video, that every video editing program recognizes it? Long story short, How do I convert animated .gif files into video formats?

I worked in Adobe FireWorks to make the animated .gif. What program do I use to convert the file from .gif to any video format: .mp4, .m4v, .avi, .wmv, etc. I want to convert it into video format, so that QuickTime Player plays the video, I can insert it into iMovie '11 and edit, and also insert it into Final Cut Pro X and edit video.

Thanks for getting back with me so promptly.  It has taken me this time to connect with the proper people to find out the information you requested.
The camera used to film the class was a Panasonic AG-HMC40P, owned by a local cable TV station; they use Kodak video encoding software, and a SD card was used to store the video.   The file extension is .mts, and the mime file is MPEG 2 transport.  He said I probably need an AVCHD converter, and the Mac app store lists 8 of those options, 4 free and 4 for up to $9.99.  He said I'll also need a converter for later plans of posting on YouTube or on the website, and while some of those in the app store might work for the later needs, he knows one app called "Compressor" that would work for the uploading later.  He also suggested I could try renaming the .mts file to .MP2T, but he wasn't sure that would work.
They don't work with Macs at the studio, but I had thought I could have some lessons there in editing, and apply what I learned to my iMac and iMovie.
First, though, I have to be able to see it and review it!
    Thanks again!

  • How to record a video of Captivate itself?

Hello - how do I record a video of Captivate itself? It doesn't appear as a 'window to record' (Record New Project > Appliction > ..).
    Any help? Thanks in advance.
By the way, I am using version 5.

    Hello,
I have been creating a lot of Captivate SWF's using 2 instances of Captivate 5 or capturing CP5 with CP4. This is working fine, just needs some editing sometimes for the automatically generated Captions that on some level seem to have strange messages, which you will not have capturing CP5 with CP4. But the capturing process works fine. You can have a look at this video tutorial I published a long time ago (only one in English, mostly create in other languages). This work flow was not possible in Captivate 4, Rick is right:

Harm is correct. It would be better to edit in the program where you keyed out the green. However, if you really must ...
DPX is one file per frame. While you may not be able to open it from Windows, it is only because Windwos has not been told to open them in Photoshop.
The whole point of the DPX file is to have a visually lossless storage of your frames that is designed to be used between applications (just what you want to do): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Picture_Exchange
However, if you prefer to use another option that you are more comfortable with, you can use PNG.
    Or...
If you insist on a single video, use the Animation codec for Quicktime.
In any case, you need a picture format or video CODEC that can store an Alpha Channel.
    Or.....
Export the video with the black and use a Luma key in the next application.
    Or ...
Export the video with the black, and then export a video of just the alpha channel as a blabk and white image where black is transparent when used as a track matte, and then in the next application use the video of the alpha channel as a track matte.
Since you haven't said what the other application is or why you want to use it, we are having a little trouble offering a specific solution.

I want to convert the Jpeg files into video clip with the help of JMF
    any one can help me?
Plz reply me at [email protected]
    or [email protected]

I'm not sure of his/her reasoning behind this, but I have yet to find a way to record video with mmapi on j2me. So with that restriction, I can see how one could make it so that it just records a lot of jpegs, and then makes it a movie.
I would be interested finding a workaround for this too. Either if someone would explain how to record video with mmapi or how to make recorded images into a video. Thanks!
