PowerPoint Office Web App Embed Code to start presentation on specific slide

I have SharePoint and Office Web Apps configured and playing nicely.  When I go to embed a Powerpoint presentation in my page, it works properly.
However, I'd like to be able to control what slide the presentation opens on by the embed URL.  I've tried bashing the embed code options to no avail.
Is there a querystring parameter I can add to the source URL that will automatically start the presentation on a different slide than the first one?

No updates?  Seems like it should be possible with a querystring paramter but that's just a logical guess.  Anyone know if that is in fact the case and what the parameter to pass would be?

  • Office Web Apps broken in IE11 after CU installation

We just installed the Oct 2013 CU and during testing found that Word and PowerPoint Office Web Apps now do not work in IE11 only. IE 8-10, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari all still display documents fine using Office Web Apps.  Excel Web App doesn't display
an error, but it also seems to have issues and doesn't always display the ribbon menu with IE11 only.
The error being displayed is "Sorry, we ran into a problem"
Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing or has seen a similar issue?
    Thanks.

There are posts about problems with SP & IE 11 all over the place. It's a known issue. Most of the problems can be solved by changing the compatability mode in IE. Here's some links you can check out:

  • PowerPoint presentations not working with Office Web Apps

         Hi,
I have deployed Lync 2013 and Office Web Apps Server in order to share PowerPoint presentations. All te sharings are working fine (Desktop, Program, Whiteboard, Poll) but PowerPoint presentations.
I have re-installed Office Web Apps Server several times but it doesn't work:
         Discovery URL is OK
Event IDs in Lync Server Event Viewer are OK
I have checked certificate and created it twice and that's not the problem (when tried to use a wrong certificate, the behaviour was different).
         Tried aspnet_regiis but didn't worked.
Both Lync Server and Office Web Apps Server are updated.
         Servers are Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
I have tested both Lync 2013 and Lync 2013 Basic clients but no one works.
When I share a PowerPoint, I can see it follows the whole way through LyncShare, Lync Server and Office Web Apps Server. PowerPoint files get to Office Web Apps Server (different name but I can move then to other workstation and check
    they are the files shared).
Clients begin showing a "Loading..." but end showing "Network connectivity lost or server too busy" (after 90 seconds more or less).
If I get URL from Lync-UccApi-0:
         https://wacserver.domain/m/Presenter.aspx?a=0&e=true&WopiSrc=https%3A%2F%2Flyncpool.domain%2FDataCollabWeb%2Fwopi%2Ffiles%2F11-1-90C848&access_token=AAMFEECCjUt7489YhSlhQY4GBWcGEIsJ8vG8JQH9w0g_TTTVe3aBEECCjUt7489YhSlhQY4GBWeCApwQgyBHjXVmSaUT70sAAlMNX4oAfTt5Nqgy5sJwqlLneNAxGYYIsFS5edC90AgIDURhdGFDb2xsYWJXZWI&<fs=FULLSCREEN&><rec=RECORDING&><thm=THEME_ID&><ui=UI_LLCC&><rs=DC_LLCC&>
If I put this URL in the browser, it turns black and shows "Loading..." and, after a long while, "PowerPoint Web App...", but it remains in this state (loading) without working.
In the Office Web Apps Server Event Viewer there are some errors related to other services I'm not using, as OneNote, or for Monitoring with the "PositiveDirect" and "NegativeDirect" tokens. Machine also answers it's
Unhealthy, but as I have read, this is not a problem.
In the ULS Logs I just see errors related to these events but logs for PowerPoint work fine. And IIS is answering with "200" (although there are a number of petitions that seem to be repeated:

It seems that something is not working between the clients and Office Web Apps Server. There is not a firewall and machines see each other. Certificate is accepted.
I have tried so many thing but none of them worked.
         Does anybody have an idea?
         Thanks!

         Hi Thamara,
There is a HLB but I thought of that and tested both: with HLB and pointing just a Front End, without HLB. In both cases, results were the same.
I can access the Front End pool web services from the WAC server using the IE.
         I'm watching now this event:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
    <HealthReport xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    </HealthReport>
Reading some posts, it's a known issue fixable by adding HTTP-Activation feature... in Windows 2012. I have a Windows 2008 and .NET Framework 4.5 is installed. I've tried to add HTTP-Activation feature from .NET Framework 3.5, but a number
of format errors appear. I don't know how I could fix it in Windows 2008.
In addition, as I'm making test for share PPT and they aren't finally showed, this error appears also:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
    <HealthReport xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    </HealthReport>
It seems that PPTs are being queued as they aren't actually showed.
Does this give you any clue?
         Thank you very much.
         Kind regards.

  • Office Web Apps Server on-premise PowerPoint SmartArt malfunction

Hello. We're considering a Sharepoint deployment, and big part of this for us is editing via Office Web Apps.
I'm implementing a lab deployment right now. Its all 2013 SP1 with latest updates.
Everything works, however I've found the apps somewhat limited, especially the PowerPoint one.
Here is the thing - when SmartArt objects are used in PowerPoint, they're edited by editing the corresponding multi-level lists. I can edit the entries of the lists, but I can't change their level. Not with the tab key - it simply does nothing, not with
the Level Up/Down buttons on the ribbon - they're inactive.
Is the PowerPoint app really this bad, or am I doing something wrong? I've checked the office.com version, and it's fine there.
On a sidenote, I have noticed some replies from Microsoft staff on Office Blogs which basically say that major feature updates will only come to the On-Premise server with the next major release, presumably about two years from now. Does this mean that an
issue like this will not be fixed in any reasonable timeframe? Or would it be considered a buggy existing function in need of fixing ASAP?

there's a lot more discussion about Office Web Apps, in the SharePoint forum, compared to here.
You might get more experienced responses over there.

  • Office Web Apps 2013 - Excel, fine, Word & Powerpoint, unable to view.

    Hi All,
I am having an infuriating issue where by the following occurs when opening documents via OWA:
Excel - Preview, no problem, opening, no problem, editing, no problem (even when accessing oData connections for PWA).
Word - Preview, errors, opening, errors, editing (incredibly!!) works.
    PowerPoint - Nothing works...
I think I have read every blog post on every error I am receiving in the ULS but nothing is resolving. It is on a VMware VM and I had to reinstall OWA after it was noted that it has rather surprising behaviour if OWA is not installed on the system drive.
I have installed each hotfix/update and tested after each with no joy...
    Three (possibly misleading) error categories:
    From OWA log:
    Cannot create WOPI Proof Token - could not find valid old proof key;
    From SP log:
    WOPI Proof: Missing Header;
Useragent not available, file operations may not be optimized (doubt this is causing my problem but the quality of errors in the logs is so bad it may well be).
For context, the service account for OWA is local admin on the box and has full access to the content databases on the SQL server.
The symptoms of the error are the biggest concern given the degrees of success I am having with the different apps (kind of rules out security or setup if Excel works fine and Word sort of works).
Any help will be very much appreciated and may stop my increasing baldness with the amount of hair I am pulling out!!
    Thanks in advance.
    Sam

    Hi  Sam,
According to your description, my understanding is that Office Web Apps does not work for viewing Word & PowerPoint.
For troubleshooting your issue, please access the Office Web Apps Server discovery URL to verify that the Office Web Apps Server farm is working for Word & PowerPoint:
    http://servername/hosting/discovery
Also please add the OWA url into your “Trusted Sites” in IE.

  • Opening an embedded document in office web apps

    Hi,
I have a test site configured to use office web apps and it works to open documents in OWA. I have a requirement to open a powerpoint presentation embedded in page in office web apps. I used the page viewer web part to do the embedding, but the document
is not opening in office web apps. There is a prompt to open the document in the desktop version of power point. I have checked that the site is configured to open the documents in OWA by default in the site collection features.
Does anybody have a suggestion on how to fix this?
    thanks
    Sherazad

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to embed a PowerPoint document which is opened in office web apps(OWA) in a page.
Here are two solution for your reference:
1.Open the document in OWA, go to File -> Share -> Embed, then copy the Embed Code and add the code into a Content Editor Web Part in the page.
2.Use Page Viewer web part to achieve it,  we can get the link from the address bar after the document is opened in OWA. The link like this:
    /sites/DennisSite/_layouts/15/WopiFrame.aspx?sourcedoc={D95516CC-6912-4F5B-BF13-C40286BC27A4}&file=Test.pptx&action=default

  • Office Web Apps is not working

       Hi,
We have tried to deploy Office Web Apps Server but, after a number of tests, we haven't been able to view PowerPoint presentations. We tested "everything" but it didn't work.
Finally, to simplify and focus the problem, we just deployed Office Web Apps Server "on its own", that is: just Internal URL, HTTP, Open From URL Enabled and sharing docs from a shared folder in the same server. So we have:
         \\wacserver\share\<Docs> (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
         http://wacserver
They work both "/hosting/discovery" and "/op/generate.aspx".
If we try to view Excel doc, it works. If we try to view Word or PowerPoint, id doesn't work.
For PowerPoint, it appears the PowerPoint Web Apps frame (FILE, START SLIDE SHOW, SLIDE - OF -, NOTES...) and, in the center, an animation
"PowerPoint Web App .....". After a couple of minutes, it stops with "Either you've lost network connectivity or our server is to busy to handle your request".

These errors appear by Office Web Server running itself, although we are not making a PowrPoint file request.

We have tried a number of things but none has worked. The farm has just one server and it says ist's unhealthy. We have Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. We have read some ways to fix the health, like HTTP Activation feature, but it only works
for Windows Server 2012 as fas as we know.
Has anybody experienced something like this or have a posible solution? Office Web Apps Server should be so easy to deploy but we have spent a lot of time with this.
Thank you very much. Your help will be very appreciated.
         Kind regards.

    Hi John,
According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot view the PowerPoint files in Office Web Apps in SharePoint.
Was there any error when you view the PowerPoint files in Office Web Apps?
You can troubleshoot the error following the link below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#tshoot
I also recommend to re-configure SharePoint to use the Office Web Apps Server to see if the issue still occurs.

to the service. If this keeps happening, try contacting your support team". I've done many many Lync and Office Web Apps install myself previously, and never had a message pop up like the one I saw in this case.
I tried going to the Web Apps discovery URL again, and it didn't get anywhere. I got on the Web Apps server and all the IIS sites were wiped.
I tried uninstalling the Office Web Apps server and reinstalling, but from that point on, IIS sites for Web Apps just would not appear under IIS manager.
Has anyone had similar issue with Office Web Apps?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
Maybe the windows update is active and configured to Automatically download and installed update of Office Web Apps and this behavior just breaking your setup.
    Try
    remove the farm of WAC
    Install SP1
and start new deployment of farm.

  • Office Web Apps server / Lync server 2013

Hi I have installed a Lync 2013 Server and Office Web Apps Server. Configured Lync topology, Office Web Apps farm and certificates.
However when i start the services i get this error message in the log saying Office Web Apps discovery failed.
    Event ID:      41033
    Description:
Office Web Apps Server (WAC) discovery failed, PowerPoint content is disabled.
Attempted Office Web Apps Server discovery Url:
Received error message: Invalid Uri syntax for WAC configuration
    The number of retries: 1,
Cause: Office Web Apps Server may be unavailable or network connectivity may have been compromised.
    Resolution:
Check HTTPS connectivity from this box to the Office Web Apps Server deployment using the discovery Url.
I can access the OWAS server Url from Lync Server
Connecting to the HTTPS discovery URL is working fine, and brings up the XML-page (after i click "show all content").
The two servers are located on the same internal network, DNS resolves fine both ways, and no firewall rules blocks any connections between the two. Can anyone please help me figure this out?
Only identical problem found online is here (Invalid Uri syntax for WAC configuration):
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/dodeitte/archive/2012/09/10/office-web-apps-server-amp-lync-server-2013.aspx
He resolved the problem by assigning a new OAuthTokenIssuer certificate. This however did not fix the problem in my case.

    Hi,
In addition, please make sure you have restarted front end and office web apps server after reissuing the certificate.

  • Got errors when trying to open word document with Office Web App Server and customized WOPI host

I am configuring the Office Web App Server with our ASP.NET MVC WOPI host based on this example. https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/office/Building-an-Office-Web-f98650d6. While both the OWA server and WOPI server has been set up and I can use Excel and PowerPoint
app to open and edit xls and ppt file now, there are problems opening word documents no matter I enable or disable the editing function of OWA server.
When I open a word document while enabling editing I got this error:
If I disable editing I got this message:
I have tried several file so I thought it is not the files' problem. Also I didn't find any exception in the log of OWA server.

    Hi Gary Jiang,
Thanks for posting in MSDN forum.
This forum is for developers discussing issues about
    apps for Office.
Based on the description, it seems that you got an issue when you deploy the code sample. If I understood clearly, I suggest that you contact the author of the code sample from the "Q and A" tab.
Also if you have the question about WOPI, I suggest that you get more effective response from
    Office
    Protocols forum.
    Regards & Fei

  • Office Web Apps don't open documents stored on Sharepoint server

We have Sharepoint Server 2013 installed on a AD domain controller and Office Web Apps installed on a machine in the same domain and configured for internal-http WOPI zone. Discovery XML works fine. When opening a MS Office document, Office Web Apps show
its label for a minute or two, and then display the message "Sorry, Web App can't open this document because the service is busy. Please try again later" or the message "Web App cannot open this document due to an unknown error."
Network logs show repeated requests to Docdatahandler.ashx to which Web Apps server each time responds with some XML saying it's busy, and to Reshandler.ashx to which the server each time responds with 404 status.

    What went wrong, any suggestions?

  • Cannot preview attachments using Office Web App Server 2013 ( Preview )

Got a lab environment to test Office Web App Server integration with Exchange 2013
i have followed the instructions given here
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/jj219455
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/2591b1be-92c4-4192-9f5e-e4e6b319170a
After all required configuration , i am still unable to preview the office documents from OWA
Receiving the following messages by clicking on the Preview link next to the attachment:
Word Document : "Sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft Word."
Excel Document: "We couldn't find the file you wanted. It's possible the file was renamed, moved or deleted"
PowerPoint: "Sorry, we ran into a problem. Please try again"
As suggested i even see the Application Log the 140 and 142 Event IDs for MSExchange OWA
Already configured to enable the rendering of attachments through OWAS both on public and private computers:
This is what I can see in the ULS log on the Web App Server

I came across a TechNet article that states that "When used together with SharePoint Server 2013, Office Web Apps Server provides updated versions of Word Web App, Excel Web App, PowerPoint Web App, and OneNote Web App".
However, later in the same article, it states "If your organization licenses Office 2013 through a Volume Licensing program, you can enable Office Web Apps editing for SharePoint 2013 on-premises" (without mentioning Foundation or Server).

    Hi Lemesnil,
The Office Web App server should support the Edit licenses for SharePoin Foundation 2013, Office Web App is free to
download, you can also try installing and configuring in a test environment, see more from the below article applied to SharePoint Foundation 2013.
