Powerpoint transitions in Captivate

Hi
Hopefully someone may be able to help with a quick query.  I have Captivate 5 (with latest updates) and also Powerpoint 2007 on one PC and Powerpoint 2010 on another.  I'm trying to upload a PowePoint document to Captivate which has been created in 2010.  The document is arriving in Captivate fine but when Publishing on Captivate the 3D/Rotate transition is not pulling through.  Has anybody any advice or experience with this and managed to resolve?
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Marek

Using the trial version of Captivate 5.5 I am having the same problem. Attempting to import the slideshow as a video file, might work;so far, I have not found a format that Captivate accepts that Powerpoint will produce. The 3rd party converters for wmf that I have tried, all drop the transitions and enter their promotional info instead... go figure...
The Poweroint save to pdf is not a playable pdf, again...go figure...
This is a big deal as we would like to market our software product on youtube and the transitions could be a deal breaker.

  • PowerPoint Import in Captivate 7

So i imported my PowerPoint project in Captivate and i chose the High Fidelity option but, the transitions are missing? Doesn't everything come in intact? Please help?

    Hi There,
    Welcome To Adobe Forum.
We would like to inform you that transitions does not work in captivate if they are imported through powerpoint slides.
However you can apply transitions through inside captivate.
    Thanks

  • I cannot open a Powerpoint presentation in Captivate 8.  Any ideas as to why?

I cannot open a Powerpoint presentation in Captivate 8.  I'm following the directions to double-click on the "From Powerpoint" icon to start a project.  I can double-click on a PP project, but then I get a message "Unable to import.  File may be damaged."  I know my files are fine.  Any ideas as to why I cannot open?

I realize this was a few months back. But I had this problem and exchanged numerous emails with support, with NO resolution.
I was running Windows 8.1 and Captivate 8 (64 bit).
Finally (and I should've tried this much earlier on) I decided to uninstall 64-bit Captivate and try 32-bit.
Voila. Problem solved. 32-bit imports .pptx files perfectly.
Hope this might be helpful for anyone else encountering this.

  • How synchronize animated powerpoint objects in Captivate 5.5

I'm testing Captivate 5.5 creating LMS content for our company. I have a powerpoint presentation with animations at some slides. This animations were triggered by mouse click, when I now bring in this powerpoint presentation to Captivate I have only one slide object but no animated objects. This means I can't ad a sound record and sychronize this sound file with the animated object. Have any one an idea how I can synchronize existing powerpoint objects with a soundfile?
    Appreciate and help.
    Thx

Hello and welcome to the forum,
For this purpose I sincerely believe that Adobe Presenter is a better choice that Captivate. Indeed, Powerpoint slides are imported as one movie in Captivate.  Captivate is not in the first place a PPT-plugin, animations are better done in Captivate if you want to synchronize. PPT-import is only one feature of Captivate, and IMO not really the most important. I'm telling this because of your sentence 'testing Captivate 5.5...'. If your elearning modules are really presentations like Powerpoint you'd better use a plug in (Adobe Presenter or other applications). Adding audio and synchronizing will then happen in Powerpoint. Or you can add the audio in PPT itself and import then in Captivate, which is in that case just used as a converter, and not really for what is meant to do.
Hope you'll understand my answer, I'm always frustrated when Captivate is tested based on a PPT-conversion whereas all its more important features are just ignored.

  • Cannot edit PowerPoint from within Captivate 5

    Hi all,
I've imported PowerPoint slides into Captivate 5, and when I click "Edit PowerPoint (Presentation or Slide", Captivate freezes on the "Creating Temp File" window.  It never moves past 0%.  I've attached a screenshot.  I've tried multiple times to edit the PPT, but cannot get it to link back to the file.  Any suggestions?  I'm on a tight deadline.
    Thank you!

    Hi Dana,
Is it possible for you to share the .ppt file with us so that we can investigate the issue on our end...? Please send the file [email protected]

  • When I copy and paste a powerpoint slide into Captivate the slide is blurry how do I fix that

When I copy and paste a powerpoint slide into Captivate the slide is blurry how do I fix that

Have you tried importing it with standard workflow instead of coyping and pasting.
Is the resolution of your powerpoint presentation and Captivate Project same, make sure it is same, else, it would rescale it to fit on the sldie, rescaling might detoriate the quality.

  • PowerPoint Slides into Captivate Responsive Project

I would like to bring a PowerPoint presentation into captivate using the responsive project functions. Basically, I would like to use my PowerPoint slides but be able to format them for mobile use as well. How should I go about this?

You cannot import PPTslides in Responsive projects

  • How to reduce PowerPoint to fit captivate 6 project

I want to pull in a created PowerPoint to my Captivate project. My Captivate project needs to be 640x480 but some of the PowerPoints come in at a much larger size. When I reduce them the images are distorted. How can I alter the PowerPoint to come in smaller from the beginning?

You can adjust the size of your presentation in Power Point by going to the design ribbon in the 2010 version.  Then select page set up.  It will return a pop up box that allows you to adjust the size of your power point.  You may have to figure out the number of pixels per inch before setting the size in Power Point.
I use Power Point almost exclusively to create our recordings.  I never have an issue with importing the larger size Power Point and then using the resize or rescale option.  It does appear blury on the screen but it clears up great upon publising.  Before trying to resize the Power Point I would suggest you publish your file to see if it clear enough for your end product.

  • Transition from Captivate 4 to 7

I was in the process of purchasing Captivate 7 and downloaded a free trial. I am having troubles transitioning from Captivate 4 to 7. Is this possible? Am I too outdated?
I would like to know what options I have.
    Thank you!

    Hello There,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
I think Lilybiri has explained your concern much better.
Captivate 4 used to work with Action script 2 and now in Adobe Captivate 7 you have Action script 3 ,
You will not be able to migrate them directly as the captivate 4 projects were saved with extension of .cp and Captivate 7 don't give an option to open .cp files
So you might need to switch your projects from Captivate 4  to 5 then 5.5 and then 7 and after this transition your projects might not behave exactly the same in Captivate 7 as they were in Captivate 4.

  • Distorted Powerpoint Transitions in Mountain Lion only

Issue: Powerpoint transitions and animation of text and images sliding in from right to left displays unwanted distortion in the moving elements on screen.
Hardware: 21.5 iMac, 2.7Ghz i5, nVIDIA GeForce GT640M 512MB (this has also been seen on 27 iMacs and a 15 MacBook Pro)
Software: Mountain Lion 10.8.3, Microsoft Office 2011 (14.3.2)
If an external display is attached = no distortion
If Lion 10.7.5 is used = no distortion
If Office 2008 is used = no distortion
If Retina MBP is used = no distortion
the common denominators are Mountain Lion, Office 2011 & the GeForce GT640M, if any of these are replaced the issue fails to arise.
A full erase and reinstall on all machines fails to remove the issue.
    Kind regards, Adrian

So an update, in case anyone cares.  Troubleshooting, I tried replacing everything I could, in ascending order of desparation.
    1) Created a second user.  FTP still slow
    2) Deleted all the network plist files. FTP still slow
    3) Deleted all the system configuration plists.  FTP still slow.
    4) Restored from a Time Machine backup.  FTP still slow
    5) Erased and reformatted my HD. Restored from a Time Machine backup.  FTP still slow
    5) Erased and reformatted my HD.  Did a clean install.  FTP fast.
I then was able to use Migration Assistant to restore my all my settings and data from the Time Machine backup.  Obviosly, I did not transfer my old network settings.  Been a couple of days, so far so good.  Can max my 30/25 internet again via FTP
Obviously there was some sort of fubar network setting.  I did my best to erase every network and configuartion plist file I could find in step 3 and 4, but clearly I missed some, as the issue persisted until I nuked everything.  Overall, this was very frustrating and time consuming to troubleshoot.

  • Powerpoint Presentation and Captivate

I have finished a Powerpoint presentation that I would like
to try and put into Captivate to help with recording and laying
down narration, but have run into problems. It does not record the
transitions or animation I have put into the Powerpoint
presentation and chops it up. Is there a way to record through
Capitvate without having a chopped up movie?

    Hi there bsostre
I have a question. Why do you want to turn Powerpoint into
Captivate for the simple task of adding narration if you have
already done all the hard work in Powerpoint?? My suggestion is to
rather download a programme such as "Audacity" to record and edit
your narrations and then attach those narrations to the relevant
Powerpoint slides with autostart on slide opening. The only other
thing to do then would be to set the timings of your slides for a
smooth transition aligned to the narration.
Please shout again if this is "NOT HELPING DUDE"
    Cheers
    Andrew
PS Audacity is freeware sound editing programme

  • Import failure between Powerpoint 10 and Captivate 1.01.1451

    Hello from France,
I use File > Import > PPT slides in Captivate 1.01
Then in the "WHERE?" box, I choose the place in the cp file
where to import the PPT slides
Then I click OK and the box closes.
Then I see that a box appears very very shortly, whose
content i can hardly see, but I read something like "creating
    thumbnails". Then, nothing at all.
    So I wonder, why me
? is CPT 1.01 able to import from PPT 10 ? Or is
    there another explanation ?
Thanks for you attention, and you help,
    Nathalie

    Hi Nathalie
I'm not sure if Captivate is capable of importing from
PowerPoint 10. Maybe that's the issue. But your description sounds
like a "Privileges" issue with the PC. See if IT can relax your
    privileges a bit.
If that isn't possible, you might still be able to get your
PowerPoint into Captivate by setting the PowerPoint up to play in a
window. Then size Captivate recording area so it surrounds the
PowerPoint and record the PowerPoint as it plays, just as you would
    record an application demonstration.
    Cheers... Rick

  • The powerpoint import in Captivate 5 cannot be normally processed

I just installed Adobe Captivate 5 with Adobe elearing Suite 2, Since I've already installed Adobe CS5 Master Collection, The installation only added Captivate 5 in my computer(for I use office 2010, which version of office has no compatibility with Presenter 7, so it hadn't been installed), but when I choose import from powerpoint in the welcome interface of Cp 5 and then I choose a ppt or pptx file which I wanna import, when it began to import, it was extremely slow, even "No Responding"! It showed no difference with .ppt or .pptx files. In other words, it cannot import any slides now! How do I slove this problem?

I am also having problems importing PPT 2010 into Captivate 5. On the first attempt, it imported the PPT files with about 13 errors. It could not read shadowed text correctly. The size of the imported file doubled!
Since that attempt, Captivate 5 will not import PPT 2010 files at all. I receive the following error message: Cannot import the selected file. Refer to the documentation to ensure that you have installed the correct version of Microsoft Office. I have even uninstalled/reinstalled PPT 2010 (rebooting twice of course).
On an other site related to Adobe TV the statement is made that importing of PPT 2010 files has not been properly tested. If this is the case, why is adobe advertising that Captivate is PPT 2010 compatible?
In response to my feed back I received the following email: "A moderator has removed your comment to http://tv.adobe.com/watch/rich-media-in-technical-documentation/adobe-captivate-and-adobe- presenter-the-best-of-both-worlds/".

  • Jump to next slide in Powerpoint when embedded Captivate SWF

    Hi all,
first of all, I am pretty new to the captivate forum, and searched a while without success, too many powerpoint to captivate issues but not the otherway around.
I have included a Captivated Version 5 compiled SWF into Powerpoint and made it Full Screen. Is there anyway to create a button in captivate5 to send a command (maybe through javascript/ fscommand etc.) to exit the captivate movie and go to next slide in Powerpoint?
As of now, all keys and mouseclicks are focussed on the swf and don't reach powerpoint.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Darius
