Powershot SX280 showing low battery

I bought the SX280 a couple of days ago, took a couple of test shots and about a minute of test video, hadn't used it for more than 5 minutes! I switched it on this morning and I'm getting a low battery indicator! Does anybody know why?!

You can send yours in under warranty since it is less than a year old. Even though you have to batteries it is not unheard of to get 2 bad batteries.
There is a whole long list of internal problems that might cause something like that to happen. All of which will require service.
If your problem is intermittent, does not happen all the time etc. make sure you make that clear in your service request and also include a note when you send the camera back in. Be sure they are aware it is intermittent, that is very important.
The things you can do are:
A bad connection between the battery and the contacts inside the battery box can produce the same problem.
Check both batteries for visible damage, especially where the battery contacts are located. And for dirt also.
Check the inside of the battery box/compartment for the same.
Be sure the battery door closes correctly, is not loose or damaged.
The other person mentioned a firmware update, you can check that also.
Lastly you can buy another OEM Canon battery and try that. Since your batteries are less than a year old they also are under warranty.

  • Mac book pro not showing low battery waring

hi....i bought ma mb pro arnd three months back.....from the past few days i have been observing tha my mac is not showing low battery warning when the battery is drained.....plz suggest me what should be done to overcome this problem....thanx...

The first step is to try re-calibrating the battery, sorabh.
See the instructions for this at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
You may also need to reset your SMC - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If the computer shuts down instead of sleeping when it runs out of charge try avoiding using it when it gets close to empty during the re-calibration process and just let it idle until it sleeps. Sometimes, when the battery is very low and badly calibrated , if you are using it a sudden demand for current can cause it to shut down suddenly instead.
If the above processes don't fix it, then have a look under the Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info and check in the "Power" section under "Hardware". Post the figures that are shown there for "Full Charge Capacity", "Cycle Count" and "Condition"
    Cheers

    Jahnavi,
two things to be looked upon in this case. First thing is about the battery. Once the battery has enough charge in it we can try a force restore on the phone to re-install the iOS.
    > Try a hard reset of the phone (Press and hold the HOME button and the Sleep/Wake button until the phone restarts and comes up with Apple logo). After trying this step, try charging the phone and see if the battery holds the charge.
    > Once battery has enough charge in it then we can force it to DFO mode and perform restore. For restore refer to this link.

  • My iPhone 5 is charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE

My iPhone 5 shows it's charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Just keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE
I usually sleep with my phone on charge through the night and I haven't had any problem since, I left my iphone 5 charging last night and in the morning it stated 100% charged so I decided to turn the power off normally (Hold the hold button till it says slide to turn power off) I turned it off and suddenly my iphone went straight to low battery. Although I have been having weird battery percentage changes for example it would stay on 1 % for an hour or so or drain really quickly.
I have restored it as i thought was the thing to do all it's doing it restoring and still stating low battery and I have charged it for hours +. I can't hard reset it nor restore it NEED HELP PLEASE.

  • IPod Video 80GB shows "Low Battery, Please Wait" but when plugged into wall, works fine.

I have an iPod Video 80GB and it worked perfectly fine until now....when it is plugged into my computer (all ports attempted), it shows "Low Battery, Please Wait" and then when I plug it into the wall, it reboots, shows the normal silver apple, and everything is all fine. The iPod is dependent off of a power source, as it cannot function right now without one.

That's usually a good indication that the iPod's battery is shot an in need of a replacement especially considering it's from an iPod Video, which have been out for a number of years now.  You can pay Apple to have it replaced or you can send it in to a third party repair center for a bit less.

  • IPhone 4S. Shows Low Battery symbol, then wont start after being charged.

    Hi Guys...
I have a broken iPhone 4S... It will show the Low Battery Icon (Battery with red bar) for a few seconds, then goes out. It wont turn on.
If I remove the charger and then plug it back in nothing. If I leave it a few days, then plug charger back in, I get the same symbol come up, but again, wont turn on.
    Any ideas???
    Thanks.

    Hey Prof.Crank,
I found the following troubleshooting steps to take when your iPhone is unresponsive:
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • MacBook Pro goes black, shows low battery even when battery is fully charged

Since updating last night via the App Store Software Update, my MacBook Pro Retina screen has been fading to black. Power is fully charged but when I press the power button, the battery-plugin to power source icon appears. I'm like, what??? My battery is charged! I plugged in my battery charger just to get the machine back to working again. It's never done this before. I'm blaming this new software update!

Same problem. Just sitting beside me on the table occasionally the screen light up for no reason flashing the red low battery screen. Pressing home, power, etc a few times brings the phone up and shows the true battery charge which is wherever it would normally be - from full to partial discharge depending on how much Ive used it. Seems to not really be indicating something with the battery but ore of a random phantom ghost bug in the OS somewhere that displays that screen for no reason.

  • Showing "Low Battery" in middle of phone call

That's irritating that in middle of conversation poops up 20% low battery warning. If I want quickly turn on or of mic or speaker, and even end call, I need firstly close that poopup, in most cases its took considerable time. Its not a big issue, but anyway it will be great if that issue would'nt be at all.

You can't turn the low battery warning off, if that's what you're asking.

  • I have an iPhone 5 and it won't turn on, shows low battery but won't charge.

I have an iPhone 5, 16GB.  Have had it for 22 months.  All of a sudden it will not take a charge at all.
Have tried to plug into iTunes.  It does not show up.  It also does nothing when I try to do a hard reset.  This is what happens now....
I do not live near an Apple store.  It's an hour away.  Possibly just the battery?
    Thanks very much!

You may find the additional troubleshooting tips in this article helpful if your iPhone is not turning on:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
    Start with this step:
You might need to charge your device before it can turn on. Plug in your device and let it charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad), then try turning it on.
You should see a battery icon while your device is charging. If you continue to see a black screen, reset your device.
If your iPhone turns back on, but then blanks out again unexpectedly, try this next:
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

  • IPhone 3GS battery not showing low battery and then taking hours to charge

Okay so my battery today was showing that it had full power and gave me no indication that the battery was near dead (ie: saying I only had 20% power left), and then it suddenly died on me. I went and charged it in my car and it charged for over 5 hours and was only at about 90%. It's never done this before, it typically takes at most an hour to charge even from a completely dead battery, and the battery indicator has always showed what the actual power is at. The phone is still pretty new, I bought it in March or April. Any ideas what's causing this, or what I should do? Right now, it's showing me the battery has full life, but I have a battery check app that says it's only at 95%.

It is the nature of the beast. Mine does that too. The charger actually cycles off periodically if the phone is basically idle. If I want make sure I have the maximum possible charge in the phone, I disconnect the charger for several minutes (perhaps using it a bit) and then plug the charger back in. This tops off the battery. I have been able to go as long as three hours with the phone still indicating 100% using this technique. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I am confident this is perfectly normal.
Honestly, I think it is a side effect of being able to turn on the percent view battery indicator. My wife's 3G (non S) does the same thing, but you can't tell because you can't see the percent view. You don't know what you can't see.

  • Iphone only shows low battery signal.

    Hello,
I recently went out of town for work and forgot my Iphone charger, so my phone went completely dead, when I got home I plugged it into the charger both wall and USB and I just keep getting the red battery with a lightning bolt symbol, It has been plugged in for 8 hours and no matter what I do I cannot get the phone to get to the apple screen all I get is the same battery signal, and if its not plugged in it just shuts off, I've had the phone for probably 2 months no way the battery needs replaced? any help is appreciated.

Have you tried re-setting it? (Hold the select button and the sleep button down together for a 10-count, then let up)
Mine went dead the 3rd day I had it and one of my students showed me how to reset it.
I let it run completely down last night and resetting didn't work until I had it charging for 15 minutes. That's just an aside I know you've charged it a long time.

  • HT201401 My iPhone3GS has started crashing. I'll be mid-phone call, or using an app, when the screen will go dark. I have to restart it. Then it shows low battery sign (even though it was 100%). Within 1 minute of charging, iphone starts. Pl. resolve.

My iPhone3GS has started crashing. I'll be mid-phone call, or using an app, when the screen will go dark. I'll have to do a restart. It dumps to the warning screen that there's no power and needs to be plugged in.
Once I connect the phone to a power source, in a couple of minutes it's ready to roll again, and displaying a "full battery" icon.
The phone is almost always fully charged when this happens, and I don't get a crash when the phone is plugged into a power source.
Took my iphone to apple store, they informed that battery is very good and there is no need for replacement. Might be there is a problem with iphone motherboard. But they can't repair it as my 3GS crossed warranty.
Where should I go to repair this. Within 2 years...this 32GB 3GS is almost garbage for me with no support from apple. I am ready to send it to apple for repairs and pay the repair charges.

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
