Powerup Edition: Vcore (Auto) setting bug

Last night I decided to push my pc by overclocking it a bit. This was only to test and report back to the board. I like the settings that are in my signature, they keep my pc quiet (I have EIST, C1 and smart fan enabled), and it is fast enough to handle any games or apps that I use.
Anyway, I disable all the fancy stuff and start overclocking. Basically I adjusted my voltages and dividers in the bios, and then tweaked my fsb and cpu multiplier using windows based apps...
After I was all done, I undid everything and put my system back to what you see in my signature. Well, I use Everest UE to check how my system is running and found a disturbing bug..
I had set my Vcore (core voltage) back to Auto, but my system was still running at almost 1.5v, and even though my computer had no load, C1 did not kick  in and lower my voltage either. But EIST did reduce my multiplier from 9x to 6x, which confirmed that my system truly was at idle.
After many starts and restarts (all of which did nothing to fix the problem), I finally turned my computer off and also turned off the power switch on my power supply. My original thought was to open up my pc and reset my bios, but instead I decided to wait a minute or so and boot up my pc, sometimes that clears up problems... Well, i worked, my Vcore (on Auto) and C1 (enabled) worked as it should. Since this could be a real bug, I went into my bios, rasied my Vcore to 1.5, booted into windows, confirmed that my pc was indeed running at Vcore 1.5, and then rebooted, set my Vcore to Auto, and again rebooted into Windows. I found that my Vcore was still 1.5v and that C1 would not kick in at low load. I had to again, turn off my power supply to get Auto to work correctly.
Anyway, I don't know if MSI actually reads these forums but this is a worrysome problem. There are many users that test the waters of overclocking when they first get a new pc. So they do the normal things like push the core voltage over its rated setting, then decide that thier pc is too noisy or running too hot. So then they boot back into the bios, put settings back on default or Auto.and decide to try it again another day. With this bios your Vcore will stay stuck on whatever its last setting was before you put it on auto. For many, that setting might be the highest overclock they tried that day, meaning thier Vcore could well be stuck at close to 1.5v rather than the ~1.35v (or lower) that they should be getting on auto.
So please, if you have tried overclocking and then set your Vcore back to auto, double check and make sure your cpu isn't getting too much voltage and that C1 is working proplerly and lowering your voltage at low loads.
Be safe and have fun...

Thanks for the welcome to your forums.
One or two quick comments also...
I am (well was) into overclocking for years, I stopped because I found I was wasting more time tweaking than actually using my computer for fun stuff. My post wasn't intended for heavy overclockers but for the beginner that wants to get some extra performance out of their computer but didn't know where to start. So if we can let's leave this message thread for what it was intended to be in its title "Simple overclocking".
As for the 4-4-4-12 in my sig ....
yes that is what I am running my memory at ...
I am well aware that the new bios likes to change memory settings, so I manually take control of my memory settings..
So for dimitri and Planet X, I recommend using Memset3.0, this will allow you to override your bios memory settings.
You can find it here:
http://www.overclock.net/intel-memory/120402-memset-3-0-a.html
(let me know if it helped)
@smokinkane  I realize that "a 320fsb overclock, that is easily accomplished"   and that, my friend, was the whole point of my post, you know how (share this with others), there are many that read this board that don't know where to start.
If I get some free time I will try and see how hard I can push the fsb with my stock equipment.
Anyway, as I mentioned in my post, I have only had this board a couple of days, so I don't know yet what it can and can't do. If you have specific problems or questions, start a new thread, so everyone can work on the problem.
Be safe and have fun...
Good post as described in the headline "simple overclock".

  • FURIOUS! Warning: Undo Bug and Auto-Save Bug

So I'm pretty ticked off right now. I generally liked FCPX and its changes contrary to many others' opinions, but I just came across a bug that ultimately was worse than I thought.
During my editing process, at some point I was unable to undo changes. It was greyed out in the toolbar, and Command+Z wasn't working. It was annoying, but I didn't think much of it or bother to restart FCPX because I was in the zone and didn't want to stop. Eventually, I decided to restart FCPX to see if I could fix the bug with a lull in my edits. It closed out as normal.
When I re-opened FCPX, I found out that my project was at an EARLIER state. From what I can guess, when the undo bug happened. So, during that period of time, NOTHING was being saved. Since you CANNOT auto-save (I know you can duplicate a project, but Im not interested in that, I just want to save a copy manually), there is no way I can recover my edits. I lost about an hour or so worth of edits. Since FCPX doesn't support "versions" yet either, there is no way I can retrieve it.
I do  not know if this is a bug due to 10.7, nor do I really care. I sent a bug report because this needs to get fixed. I consider you do the same but AT THE VERY LEAST, be mindful of this bug. If you suddenly can't start undoing, either STOP IMMEDIATELY or duplicate your project (maybe that would work). I'd hate to have someone else go through this problem too.
Sorry if this message is written poorly, like I said, I'm pretty ****** that this key function (Apple's ONLY way to save) failed.

Thanks guys for the tips. Unfortunately though stuck, I don't know if the finder trick will work. Remember, I never really had the file LOST, the changes were simply not writing to the actual .fcp file. So if I copied it in Finder, I think it would just copy the .fcp file which is currently not getting saved to anyway. Maybe duplicating the project in FCPX would work, but again I think that just takes the .fcp file and duplicates it. If it's not writing to it, then its a moot point. Oh well.
As with anything that frustrates anyone, I've cooled off haha, and doing the re-edits actually seemed to turn out easier and better then second time (you know, as theu naturally are I suppose haha). Obviously all sorts of problems happen with technology, its just a shame that its a bug that revolves around the ONLY save feature haha.
HOWEVER. I think I have replicated the problem, and MIGHT know the source of it. Or at least one. If someone wants to try this and confirm this? I'm running OSX 10.7 and FCPX 10.0 (obviously), however I encourage someone with 10.6 to try it too.
I noticed the "undo bug" (and thus the auto-save bug) happens when I took one of the "fader handles" (I don't know the actual name, but its the little marker-like icon found at the start and end of audio tracks, which when dragged, let you easily make a fade in or out. If you take a fader-handle, an drag it ALL the way BEYOND the length of the clip, it should get stuck. Youll notice you cant easily make a change to it again, and you can't undo it. I think this is what causes the problem, as I think this happened twice to me.
If this is it, I hope I can find a way to flag this for Apple so it can get fixed! At the very least we can be concious of it.

  • New PC build w/Powerup edition

    Hello,
I'm a newbie here. I have been lurking and reading for about two weeks about this board, etc. I am going to build a new PC this weekend and I have a few questions for you guys. I have always used ASUS boards, but this time I will go with MSI powerup edition, for several reasons.
The PC I am about to build is in my sig below. Hopefully, I am in the right forum and can make everything clear for you. I am going to install Vista Ultimate on it. Most of what iI have seen on here so far about bios issues etc. have dealt with WinXP, so I'm not sure about a few things.
I would like to minimize any boot/hardware problems from the jump if I can.
The WD Raptor is SATA1 w/NCQ. Should I load the Intel ACHI/Raid drivers at install to enable NCQ or just go with IDE enhanced/SATA instead? I don't know if NCQ is really needed or not. I had a pc with all scsi drives with ncq in the past, but don't really know if ncq helped or not in a home use pc. Not to mention that I just simply want this board and bios to recognize the two drives I will be installing.
I d/l'ed the latest bios from MSI (7.3) and put it on a floppy. Should I flash it before installing Vista, or just install Vista and load LiveUpdate and do it from there? Or, load Vista and then use the floppy? ASUS Update used to work fine, I don't know how MSI LiveUpdate works. Just asking.
My gut tells me to just build it, install the OS and see what happens, but if I am heading into an abyss, I'd like to know ahead of time, if I can. If anyone has any advice, I would sure appreciate it. Eventually, I would like to set up using Raid 5,  do some moderate to heavy OC'ing, and upgrading the video card and go to something else which includes Cross Fire. But for now I just want what I have to work.
    Thanks

    Hi Mike,
Excuse this length post - I was immediately caught up as your situation was similar to me at the outset.  Normally a few lines is better I know.  Apologies to the moderators for being so full of hot air on this issue.
What version of the MB do u have???  2. or 2.1 or 2.2 (It is on the board next to the GRAKA slot)
    MY COMPARABLE FUN TO DATE:
I started my build 7 about weeks ago - on a Friday evening with as I learned, rather large naivete.
I got relatively lucky as I have apparently just had two issues - non compliant memory (possibly just the same as your twins (you need to tell us what version of the Corsair 800 memory this is - CL5 or CL4?? ) and Raid issues with Bios 7.2.
At the outset, I had Corsair's PC6400C4D (Dominator CL4 version of the twins) .  Fortunately, aside from this board's pandemic 'no warm reboot', these two issues seem to have gotten resolved for my situation.  I RMA'd my corsair Dominator twins too early I suspect.  They likely required higher voltages (despite what Corsair told me) than I used at the outset not having done my homework on this MB and this forum.  I am using Crucial 800 CL4 (4-4-4-12) twin 1GB stix now - and they work fine at the Cell ratio setting of 1:5 with BIOS VDIMM set at 2.2.
At the outset, mine did not post with two stix.  I got lucky and one of the two twins worked as a single stik solution but the 2nd one did not.  Today, however, I would tell u that this was likely a too low VDIMM issue in the BIOS setup for this MB and it is unlikely that the Corsair memory was bad.
    HELP with YOUR SITUATION:
    1) PSU Connectors:
1a) Main power and CPU power connectors: I noticed u mentioned the 24 pin.  Does that mean u connected the 20 to the 24 slot and in addition the 4 (square connector (not the rectangular 4 MOLEX like a HD or floppy power)) - as two separate connections or did your PSU only come with a 24.  I ask because my understanding was that the 4 square PSU connector needs to go to the 8slot power connector (the one with a plastic cap covering 4 of the 8 on my v2.1 MB) on the MB.
1b) Video PCI power connector: I put a molex (4pin rectangular like for the HD or floppy) into the power slot right next to the Video Card (GRAKA) slot.  I understood that that was needed whether or not your GRAKA needs it or not.   But I might not be right on that as I have alwways had a pretty low key GRAKA.
    2) FAN - does the CPU fan start and stay on or does everything shut down ?  I ask becasue when I get a failed warm reboot, the CPU fan stays on although nothing else happens and it does not reboot or try to - just sits there with the PSU and CPU fans humming along.
    3) Video connector - I agree with Vaniireq that u should first try with a VGA source.  But I suspect that is not the real problem area.
    4) Memory - use just one stik in the green 1 or 2 slot until this kid start to get cryin' - then u can worry about installing the OS and finally come back and add the 2nd 800 stik.  Try both of them though as the one you had in the 2nd slot could have been 'freaked out' in the other slot.
I checked with Corsair before I RMAd their twin kit and they told me that additional voltage for the 800 stix was not needed.  Crucial, however, said theirs needed the VDIMM at 2.2 from the get go.  My machine will not post with the ratio at 1:1.5 and the stock voltage of 1.8 so i have to reset the CMOS and then go in and redo all the BIOS settings every time there is a major glitch in starting up (like yesterday) although it is as we speak - right now running fine.
    5) Cooling:  Once u get you kid screamin a bit - we can revisit that issue.  I agree with all that say the CPU stock cooling is inadequate - as just standing still I am at 40 to 42 C - and that seems rather high I think.
FINAL NOTES:  I started this build 6 weeks ago as a decadonal birthday present for a nice upgrade to SOA stuff.  Top components and the Tom's Hardware recommendation.  HorsePucky!!!!  This MB does NOT deserve a PLATINUM label froim MSI IMHO(at least not yet).  Unlike some, if I had to do it again - I seriously doubt if it would. However, aside from the non reboot issues, once I get it to run, it is like a rock.  I have not invested any more than the inordinate amount of time on this Forum to look to the ASUS or ABIT forums to see if there are similar issues with their Intel 975 implementations.
From all I have read on this board on this MSI forum - this MB was not ready for 800 memory - and the evidence of this is the frequent bios upgrades (about 1x every 2nd week for the unofficial updates even though we are now up to official release 7.3 - I am sticking with 7.1) that have still not resolved the 800 memory issues related to it not rebooting without a cold start.  With security upgrades, we can scarcely go more than a few days without the need for a reboot - so while not a deal breaker, this ruddy no restart issue is worrisome.  If it is not fixed in the next month - I will RMA the board no question - and get an updated version or switch back to ABIT or ASUS which I have used for years - never with this amount of hassle or tweakiness required.
THIS FORUM - if it were not for the help here - I would not still have this board in the house!!!  The feedback here is indeed extraordinary and it is a great credit to the persons moderating and contributing.  MSI should be aware that without this support - their 975X board could likely have been a "TotalRecall" issue for many.
BEST OF LUCK and keep letting us know how we can help.
Once u get it posted - I know you will have some BIOS setup issues.
(I am in Europe so the timezones may not fit for direct feedback - but private message me if u have any questions u might prefer to ask if they seem to go beyond the fringes of reality.  You can also SKYPE several of us which is truly much more effective for troubleshooting when you have a 2nd screen attached to that 2nd computer)
For the moment though, we are all awaiting your next trials - aint this just a fun thing to do on weekends???

  • Core2Quad Q6600 on MSI 975X PowerUp Edition problem

Hello. I have a problem that is bugging me for about one month.
I have this configuration with an Intel Core2Quad Q6600 on a MSI 975X PowerUp Edition mainboard, with 4G Ram memory from Kingmax (4x1G DDRII 800 MHz) <The mainboard has the latest bios version 7.7>. I am running on Windows Vista x64 OS and I always get a blue screen after a nonequal period of time. I have remarked that usually it happens when running a media file (e.g. movie, DVD, play mp3) and downloading something from the internet. If I only do one type of operation at a time nothing happens, but if I do both types in the same time... in crashes. I can't figure out what may be the problem I've ran 32 memtests (one with v1.70 and one with v3.4) on each memory on each slot (4 memories x 4 slots) and got no errors. Of course than I ran one single test with both versions of memtest with the full 4G installed and got a lot of errors only on test 8 of them (regardless of the relevancy of 4G on a memtest that is on 32bit).
I also gave a memory test from the Windows Vista x64 DVD and the system hangs at 37% for hours. I checked the HDD and has no problem.... Now I don't know what else to test anymore in order to see what may be the problem. Is it somehow a problem from the processor?, any incompatibility in the system?
I saw that when making the regular updates for windows, on one particular update the system crashes giving me the same BSOD that bugs me (note thet the system does this problem imediatly after a clean install with no updates, and after the updates are installed)
I've installed windows about 5 or 6 times on this configuration. Not once crashed or hanged during installation and in windows... in applications, never hanges or crashes into the same applications... they work just fine... only when I am using some media and downloading.... it happens at a total random time between a few minutes and even one hour. Sometimes if I am lucky I watch an entire movie while downloading and nothing happens... I just don't get it.
Ah.. and when I get BSODs it never is the same error. Or it's a memory adress (stop error 0x0029940<random at adress 0x41625753<random), or it's a win32.sys, or it's a ntfs.sys, or some other file stored in windows directory.
Please tell me what should I try? any DOS or Windows programs that may stress the CPU in order to see if it's OK please just help me somehow, any ideea will be good.
I wonder if anyone from MSI could give me a hint or at least tell me about a software they use currently in order to debug a MB problem (if t's possible to do so).
    Thanks

    Same problems here.

  • Vista Sleep Issues - 975X Pentium Powerup Edition

    Hi
Hopefully someone can help me out with this one. I've got a 975X Pentium Powerup Edition running Bios 7.4.
I have a continual strange problem with Vista 32 bit entering sleep mode. It will enter sleep the first time and successfully start again but on the second time it freezes whilst entering sleep with the two blue lights staying on on the front panel. Then nothing will clear it except unplugging from the power socket which isn't great!
I've updated the graphics and sound drivers but these have made no difference. Is is possible it is to do with the Bios and is is worth me flashing it to the latest 7.8 version? If so how do I so that with Vista as the instructions on the MSI site don't seem to cover it.
I have checked the Bios setting and it is set to support S3 sleep.
    Help appreciated as I'm stuck!
If its not the bios does anyone have any other ideas?
    Thanks
    Jim

  • A few questions about Memory and Power Supply for MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edit

Bought this Motherboard: MSI 975X Platinum Powerup Edition
    975X Platinum V.2(7246-020)
    I have a P4 CPU HT in it with 2 512mb sticks of DDR2 memory (533mhz).
I am upgrading to a Core 2 Duo 6600 CPU which has a 1066mhz FSB
What memory speed should I purchase to achieve the fastest bus speed without overclocking???
I get confused as my current memory is 533 which I guess on a Pentium 4 with HT cuts the FSB speed in 1/2 to 266mhz.
    Any recommendations?
Do I need to buy Dual Channel or can I just buy 2 sticks?
    Thank you
    Peter

    Great info again guys!
I'll stay away from OCZ (I read it's more for overclockers).
    @DryHeat:
I watched your sig, great setup! I'm planning for about the same setup (MSI 975x PUE, P180, C2D, ...). But will try a Scythe Ninja for CPU cooler and use an MSI graphic card (maybe 2 cards for 4 monitors in total).
Is your setup silent or just quiet? Makes a big difference for me.
What would you change now? And what is the most noisy component?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm not an expert and by budget does not permit me from making any mistakes.
The case fans create the most noise.  When they are all on "low" I an hardly hear them and have to shake the mouse to see if it's on, but on medium it sounds like a "standard" computer.  Not terrible, but not quite.  On high they are down-right loud.

  • Dolby Digital Auto Setting Doesn't Work w/4.4.2?

I have a bunch of old movies that were recorded in stereo, pre-Dolby, and of course, a bunch of newer in Dolby Digital.  After upgrading to Apple TV iOS 4.4.2 yesterday, I now find that the Settings/Audio & Video/Dolby Digital/Auto setting no longer works.
I just started a new iTunes downloaded movie with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and noticed that it was playing in PCM stereo-only mode for some reason.  I then tried a couple of other older iTunes downloaded movies with 5.1 sound, and they all were playing in the same old PCM stereo mode, as well.  To get the new movie to play in 5.1 sound, I had to manually change the above Dolby Digital setting to ON.
A similar issue applies to older movies in pre-Dolby stereo.  If the above setting is set to Dolby Digital ON, those older movies switch from normal stereo to Dolby Digital 1.0/Center channel only sound, so I have to either switch the Dolby Digital setting to OFF or back to Auto, which defaults to PCM stereo for everything now.
Is anyone else experiencing this change?  The Auto function worked perfectly for me before this upgrade.
I'm using an Apple TV 2 with an optical connection to my audio amplifier.  The movie is streaming over my wired gigabit Ethernet home network from my iMac.

Seems to be an issue for some of us since 4.4; see other thread.

  • [AA7+] [Windows] Set default text size for "auto" setting...

    Good morning:
I was wondering if it is possible to set the default font size or specify a maximum font size
for the auto setting of the font size on a text field when using the auto setting?
Currently, if the font size is set to "auto" it defaults to 12 pt. text if multiline is checked on the Options tab.
If multiline is not checked on the Options tab, the font size will adjust to the height of the box.
I would like to have the multiline checked, specify "auto" for the font size, but have the auto font size be no larger than 8 pts.
It can go smaller than 8 pts. if there is too much text in the field, but should not be larger than 8 pts. because the other form fields are in 8 pt.
If someone has any suggestions on how to achieve this, I would be most appreciative.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Jongware!
I'm aware of the many different forums and I thought I was posting it in the Acrobat Scripting forum.

  • How to auto set one numeric test step's limits?

i want to auto set a numeric test step's limits ,the limit's value is got from one number control and one offset control in LV front panel of my programm.when i change the number control in my fronet panel of LV, and it will auto set the limits to my step in teststand. How to realize it? Using local variable or...?? pls help me and give me a example source code.thanks

    Hi,
You should use the SetValNumber VI off of the TestStand Palette on your Controls Palette. The property you are trying to set is for the step and is identifed by the lookup string(s):
    "Step.Limits.High", and "Step.Limits.Low"
Have a look at the examples inside of \Examples\AccessingPropertiesAndVariables\UsingLabVIEW\AccessingPropertiesAndVariables.seq.

  • How do I auto set stroke weight, stroke colors & fill color?

    Hi,
I'd like to make it easier for our 100,000 designers to use AI to make custom products using a laser cutter.
    Current Practice
Designers open our AI laser cutting design templates, add their designs using the AI settings our online pricing system can read, then upload their designs to our website for instant pricing, making and shipping.
    The Problem
Designers have to manually setup AI with settings that can be read by our online pricing system. If they get these settings wrong, our system can not read their designs. So they are rejected and can not be priced or made. This happens more often that you'd imagine.
    The Solution
Designers do not like design rejections. So I'd like to eradicate them by providing our designers with a version of AI that provides the following settings only:
    * Set document to RGB
    * Stroke weight = 0.01mm
    * Stroke colors = RGB 0, 0, 255 and 255, 0, 0
    * Fill color = RGB 0, 0, 0
This will mean designers have a very limited number of AI choices, with nothing to distract them or to get wrong. Which will result in less (or zero?) design rejections. And products made faster than before. Rejoice!
    Question
How do we program our AI laser cutting design templates so that when they are opened in AI, they auto set AI settings as defined above?
    Thanks so much.
    Derek

Your first point - yes, that's what our system does currently. As a result designers get lots of 'how to fix' messages as a result of design rejections. We wish to reduce these rejections and resulting 'how to fix' messages by limiting their choices in AI - because this is where the problems are created.
Ok, yeah gotcha, so customers/designers think they do it right (cough/laugh) upload, then get surprised to find out they didn't by your upload system. That's kind of what I thought. I feel your pain. ;-) I sense you want to reduce this aspect to keep the customers/designers happy and thinking they do nothing but work magic all day right? ;-) So you don't want to lose customers in the midst of frustration of file rejection thinking there files are right and your system is certainly wrong, when in fact it's the opposite. Good luck explaining that to a designer however, right? ;-)
    Ponoko wrote:
Your second point - You go on to talk about using a complex "action" we could distribute within the design templates. Although I suspect this is different, the path we're thinking is to include something in the templates that, when imported into AI, sets AI with the color palette we need, line weight we need. Possible?
As Monika hinted at you can't rigidly restrict or control what a user is allowed to do and use in Illustrator. You can try to reduce the parameters by saving the file as a Template.ait file, but even then they can muck about all day until they mess things up again, plus you have no control whatsoever even then as to whether they use fills, the stroke weights, etc. That is why I mentioned various things to manipulate the file once they deem it completed and ready to submit/upload. Basically a method to fix what they messed up or did incorrectly and instead set things as they should be for submission as I previously mentioned. I mentioned you may be able to create a complex Illustrator "action" action.aia that they run to process these requirements. I am not sure if such an action could be accomplished as all inclusive (perhaps though) otherwise you could as stated do it through scripting and a script they run: script.jsx to prepare the requirements, or an actual standalone helper app you create and provide like I mentioned above as well.
I see for CorelDRAW & Inkscape you require SVG, why not change that for Illustrator also so all your 2D app submissions are SVG based? Then manipulate the SVG server side, point out the changes and why and have the customer approve the new modified SVG Preview of the needed changes and move along with the process from there? Make all the requirement changes on the server by manipulating the SVG. You should have access to all of the requirements: RGB color model, stroke weight, stroke colors, fill colors, create font outlines, image tracing? I am just tossing out ideas here, get your programmers busy, tell them to stop playing video games and "make it so". ;-)
But even so, this then begs the question: What are you doing to circumvent the same issues for inept CorelDraw and Inkscape users?
Since, they have the same freedom to do things incorrectly and misaligned with the requirements, just as Illustrator users do.
Regardless though of the approach customers/designers may not like seeing certain things changed even minutely in trivial amounts and thusly be just as upset or up in arms with the changes to their pretty design files that they think were not needed in the first place, how dare you undermine them ;-). Same as seeing the file rejection from your system upon upload. Again I feel your pain. You have your Application/File requirements requirements stated nicely and plainly, it should be pretty easy for most, but sadly I guess not.

  • IPhone auto-set time is 1 min slow to time-server time.

I have the problem that my iPhone is 1 min slow... always (when auto-set by network). I live in the Portland Oregon area, and I do not believe the issue is with AT&Ts towers putting out the wrong time. As my co-workers with the 3G iPhone display the correct time. Why is this?

Still quite likely on AT&T's end. The time data is transmitted separately on the EDGE vs. the 3G networks. An iPhone 3G user in a recent thread described seeing different time/date on EDGE vs. 3G (toggling the 3G access on and off).

  • We need a new version of DualCore center to support the 975x PowerUp edition!

    Hi,
As of know, when I start up the DualCore center, it doesn't work 100 percent. For example, I can't adjust my cpu fan speed and that application beeps about me not having connected a cpu fan. Which is not true of course.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the current version does just support the 965 platform? Well, I know there is alot of users on the 975x platform for Conroe aswell - and I would be delighted if MSI released a version which corrects this  .
If I am not mistaken, I think MSI already is in the process of making one! The DualCore software hasn't showed up on the homepage of the PowerUp edition neither so ..

sigssoft, 3-pin won't work with the speed control.... you must have 4-pin. I suffered this on 945G Platinum, 955X Platinum... I haven't got 975X board yet, but I'm pretty sure the design didn't change. I have 3-pin fan and no matter what I changed the PWM %, it won't change the fan speed. Then I learned about the schematics/circuits of the fan control, knowing that, OK, this is definitely HARDWARE limitation --- MUST use 4-pin to get fan control works.
What MSI said in the manual saying the certain 3-pin fan can also be supported. I truly doubt that.

  • IMac auto-sets to medium brightness

I'm having this problem where every time I turn on the Mac, the screen is set at medium (7 I think) brightness. I don't know what could have caused this.
I remember before upgrading to 10.6.3 there was a problem where it would auto-set at maximum brightness unless setting it level 1 (2?) brightness. This seems like a similar situation but I haven't tested the "fix" this time 'round.
    Any ideas?

  • How to restrict contributor users to  edit only few set of pages

    Hi All,
We wanted to restrict some of the contributor users to edit only few set of pages,
is that possible to implement ?
Can somebody please give some pointers
    Thanks
    Hari

I was looking for a hint in the documentation and could not find any. This means that either it is something obvious (not to me, unfortunately), or this concept is not native to the Site Studio. This means that all contributors are equal - at least, the section http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10614/c01_intro.htm#i422918 seems to be written in that way.
    What could you try?
This section, http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e13650/ssxa_creatingsites.htm#CIHGGCFB , suggests that all contributors are assigned the role WCMContributor. There is probably no finer distinction than that a user has this role or not.
Then, each of used objects (namely, region definitions, native/contributors files) have its metadata. You could try to give read-only access to those contributors who won't edit the region.
Last thing, which looks the most promising, but also the most complicated, is that you will dynamically change the region template, based on a user logged in (a sort of self-defined contrib mode). An example can be found in this thread: Display Contributor Regions dynamically (note that the example is about languages, you will need to implement your own logic!)
