  • Announcement: NetRestore reaches end of life

Mike Bombich posted this today: "After six years of developing mass deployment solutions for Mac OS X, I have decided to reprioritize my time and focus all of my development efforts on Carbon Copy Cloner."
    The full story's at http://www.bombich.com/software/netrestore.html

There is no End of Life on those programs; as long as you have the correct version of Mac OS X that supports them, they will run. There will be no further improvements to them, and since the web is constantly changing, you're better off running the newest version anyway.

When is end-of-life of WLS 4.5.1?

This has not been yet announced. Typically, we announce the end of life of
products at least twelve months before they are retired.

  • 4500-E series .. is it nearing end of life?

Is there a way to find out when Cisco may be planning to obsolete the 4500-E series switches? Or alternately, is there a way to get assurance from Cisco that they aren't planning to make it end of life for X number of years yet?
It concerns me to see ominous signs like the high performance "Supervisor Engine 6-E" for the chassis going obsolete. How long until the whole E-series chassis line goes obsolete too?
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-series-switches/eol__C51-726869.html
Also, I do not know how to tell what products are Cisco's newest and therefore with the longest life yet to come.

    Hello, dmahlko1.
There is no available reference yet on when will the whole 4500-E go EoL. However, once a part number gets announced as EoL, there is usually 4-6 years (varies by device/solution) before it losses all support or becomes completely obsolete. Are you looking for a replacement/current model for your existing?
Let me know if you have other concerns or e-mail ([email protected]) me directly. Kind regards.

  • IPad Mini, Mini 2, Mini 3 End Of Life dates?

Does Apple have a site or RSS feed to track EOL (End of Life) on Apple products?
I am curious to keep track of iPad's and iPad Mini's as we constantly purchase devices for the office.

I don't think that Apple makes such announcements.  You have to observe when apple stops supporting your device with new releases. For instance, 8.x will not run on my iPhone 4.

  • End of Life Products

Hi can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction here?
i need to know what the Lumia 720 is going to be an 'end of life' product, and if any other are scheduled to head in that direct in the next 6-12months?
Ive tried searching the Nokia website, but cant seem to find this info, so any help appreciated

Nokia doesn't state when products are going to be end of life or when they are going to be replaced by new products. The 720 still has the current operating system on it and new devices are being released running it so it will continue to get software updates.
As for when it's going to be replaced by another model all you can do is look at when it was originally announced (February 2013) and make a guess. Nokia will not discuss future products until they are announced. My personal guess is that a direct successor will be announced sometime between February and June.

  • Need Acrobat Distiller but it is end of life, need a replacement product to run on windows 2012

Need Acrobat Distiller but it is end of life, need a replacement product to run on windows 2012.  I have one software application 'Transform' that only needs to convert files to pdf and email to users.
Which Adobe product runs on windows 2012 that will replace Distiller?

Distiller is one of the programs available in the Acrobat Suite of programs. You must have an older version if it is at end of life. Do you have Distiller or Distiller Server. Distiller Server has been replaced by a LiveCycle Server product.

  • I support a very large school district currently running Firefox 3.6. What will happen at end of life date? We're in the middle of online testing this week.

I run the test center for a very large school district with over 120k students. We've got a current deployed base of 54k client machines using Firefox 3.6. We haven't upgraded due to multiple reasons, the most important of which is removing the possibility of using In Private Browsing from the students, and dealing with plugin-updates for the non digital natives (read dumber than a bag of hammers users) that make up the majority of the client base.
We're testing ESR now, but just found out that end of life for 3.6 is tomorrow, 4/24. We are currently in the middle of statewide online testing. The question is, what will happen tomorrow when the browser goes end of life. The ESR wiki mentions that "an update to the current version of Desktop Firefox will be offered through the Application Update Service"
So the main question is, are my students/teachers going to get a popup telling them they have to update the browser if we have the updates already turned off? If so, can I turn it off remotely using SCCM, because it will cause all kinds of havoc.
Please advise asap, and thanks in advance.

We had to do some serious gymnastics to remove at least most of the ability to use IPB. We removed it from the gui, but unfortunately, if they know the hotkey, they can still bring it up. Security has some serious headaches with this, as by law they have to be able to track where students go, and going with private browsing removes their ability to do forensic work they're required to be able to do. Not a very well thought out feature from Mozilla in my opinion, but it is what it is. Successive versions have made it even more difficult to remove even the gui portion.
We do plan to release ESR due to the aforementioned security issues, but testing has been slow.
But thanks for the reply. I think we can turn off the updates if it isn't already done.
