PP 2014 Project Manager not Trimming Clips

Project Manager pretty straight forward however the ProRes clips are not being trimmed. I tried both 24 and 0 (yes radio buttons were selected) but when I reopened the project the clips were full clips.
thoughts?

I'm having the exact same issue now and it seems to be related to what types of format Premiere supports for trimming.
My project consists of the following file formats:
XAVC 100Mbit MXF
XDCAM HD422 .mov
ProRes 422 .mov
If I remove XDCAM and XAVC from the project, Project Manager trims the clips, but if XAVC and XDCAM is in the project the files doesn't trim.
Adobe Help-page mentions this: "Some formats, such as Long GOP based media files, cannot trim media, or add handles." But it doesn't state what these "some formats" are. XDCAM is Long GOP, but XAVC 100MBit is Intra and shouldn't be affected.

Will premiere pro cs4 project manager trim the source clip file size based on in and out points?
I could swear I have done this before last year. When I do a project manager trim is creates a folder, changes the name of the file, but doesn't change the original size.
I created a project and imported just one clip , trimmed in from 1min to 5 seconds and dropped in into a timeline. After the proj mgr export the file wasn't trimmed in the new folder at all. I tried adding handles.

Thanks Jim. That little tid bit doesn't show up in the on-line help.

  • Project manager not trimming .mts files

Relatively new to Premiere and struggle to media manage since my switch from FCP7.
I keep finding that Project manager is not trimming the.mts files, so still stuck with the entire clips.
Anyone know of any work arounds?
Premiere Pro CC on a MacPro
    Cheers

Premiere CC's Create New Trimmed Project does not support trimming of any MPEG material. If you update to CC 2014 8.1 or 8.2, there is a new option of Consolidate and Transcode that will allow you to transcode to formats that Premiere can export (e.g.: H.264, MXF OP1a, etc.). It still won't trim to .mts, but it might get you closer to your goals.

  • Project Manager not trimming projects

when using project manager and creating a trimmed project the difference between the original nad new trimmed project is minimal
The large files within the project are H.264. Does Premiere have difficulty with this format as it seemed to work with Pro Res 422 (LT) files?

The previous versions of Premiere Pro did not support trimming of MPEG material via Create New Trimmed Project. It would copy the entire file(s). With the new Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1 version, you have a new option for Consolidate and Transcode, which does support trimming of MPEG files to a chosen preset/format. Hope this helps.

  • Project Manager not Trimming ProRes Files

I was hoping that 8.2 would solve this issue, but it hasn't.  When I choose 'Consolidate and Transcode' in Project Manager, it is not trimming my HD 1920x1080 ProRes files.  And in fact, it hardly trims anything. (It does trim a few Avid 1:1 SD files) I've tried virtually every possible combination of settings to get this to work the way the old 'Create Trimmed Project' did, to no avail.  Please help - thanks!

  • Project Manager not trimming R3D files.

    Mac
    CS5.5
I am trying to make a trimmed project. I go to Project Manager and I select "Create New Trimmed Project"
I include 24f handles, Rename Meda files to Match...etc
The Resulting (est) project size says 5GB when the actual project turns out to be 20GB.
    Thoughts?
(Btw, I tried collecting and copying files and the it was the same size (20GB), same amount of footage in both folders)

PPro can't trim R3D files.  It would require a RED codec to be able to generate new R3Ds... the best it can do is consolidate your project to just the media that's actually used in the edit.

  • PE 10 Archive not trimming clips

From the PE 10 Help manual
"Archive Project - Creates a folder containing a new project file, and a new clip for each clip used in the original Timeline or Sceneline at its edited length. The trimmed project includes up to 30 frames of extra footage, called handles, before the In point and after the Out point of each trimmed clip for minor adjustments you may want to make after archiving the project."
I am using Premiere Elements 10 on a Windows system (XP) and using "archive" (and the archive option within archive) it is not trimming clips at all, it simply copies the full clip to the archive folder. This is extremely wasteful of disc space and is not what is described in the above cut from the manual which is what one would expect an archive function to do (trim clips plus handles). Why not and is there any way around this.
    Cheers
    Andrew

    Andrew,
This a bit of a guess, as I use Project Manager in PrPro, and it has some major differences.
I suspect that you have a large Clip, or Clips, and have used Instances of that/those on the Timeline. Is that the case?
If you had discrete, separate Clips, that had been Trimmed, in either the Source Monitor, or on the Timeline, then those would be Trimmed, with X Frames as Handles.
Discrete Clips are different than Instances of a larger "master Clip."
Maybe someone else will chime in, and either validate my thoughts, or tell us both, where I am going wrong.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Project Manager - Creating Trimmed Project w Handles, still leaving me with Huge Project

I'm trying to create a trimmed version of a completed Premiere Pro project, via "Project Manager...",
but I'm confused why I'm not getting a more condensed resulting project size.
This project consists of a completed 3.5 minute edit of a 2-camera conference video.
The majority of clips in the sequence are drawn from several hour-long clips in the master media folder, but the project I'm trying to archive and share
is this 3.5 minute highlight/digest piece.  I was hoping I could send a trimmed project (sequence) to my finishing editor, without having to transfer all the media, and all the unused parts of some of these long clips,
and was under the assumption that "trimming" would accomplish this, however trying to make a trimmed version with handles in Project Manager, is still leaving me with a 90+gig project.
Exporting this sequence when selecting "Match Sequence Settings" produces a 694.7 MB .mpeg movie, culled from .mxf files (PMW300) and .mts files (C100).
    What am I missing?
I also attempted to create an AE project by importing this PP project (1 selected sequence) into AE,
and reducing/consolidating and collect files, and was still being left with a 90+gig project (see attached)
Would love any insight or workflow tips!
    (settings in Project Manager)
("Collect Files" folder from an AE export of the same project, creating 96+gig footage folder for 3.5min .mpeg video )

As Richard noted, Create New Trimmed Project is limited in the formats that it supports/trims. All MPEG formats will be copied in their entirety. i.e.: not trimmed.
Starting with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1), Consolidate and Transcode was added, which may suit your needs. More information can be found at:

  • CS5.5 Project Manager not collecting all media

I am having a problem with the Project Manager in CS5.5.
Although I have used it succesfully in the past, on a current project I am trying to archive it is not performing correctly.
The issue is that the Project Manager is not collecting all the video clips when processing the project.
My project and its assets are contained in a folder and not scattered across my computer or multiple drive. The settings I am selecting are:
Selecting all sequences (11 in project)
    Create trimmed project
    Exclude unused clips
    90 frame handles
Save in different folder on different drive
When I process, I am consistantly missing several video clips. They are a mix of avi and mov clips and they seem to be the same clips each time.
The clips are located with the other video files. They play just fine in the project but somehow they do not get included and trimmed when processed through the Project Manager.
Any idea or suggestions are approciated.

    Any ideas? Anyone?

  • CC2014 Project Manager not keeping speed changes

trying to use project manager to consolidate a 40 minute sequence, everything looks good along the way, but any speed changes in the sequence are not keep in the new project....anyone else experience this?  and is there a workaround?

Is this specific to this project (or specific settings) or are you seeing this in general? e.g.: if you create a new Project, apply Speed/Duration to a single clip in a Sequence (e.g.: 200%), then Consolidate and Transcode, does the Transcoded Project still have the Speed/Duration value applied to the clip in the Sequence?
I have not seen any reports on Speed/Duration missing and also ran a few sanity checks with Speed/Duration and Time Remapping in CC2014 (8.2), which all continued to have Speed values applied in the Transcoded Project Sequence. I also tried Collect Files and Copy to New Location, which also retained Speed values.

  • Project Manager not scanning Logic folder ?!

    Hi,
The most funny thing about the project manager is that, no matter what, I can't have it list my songs, projects or audio files of any types, which are all strored in ~/Music/Logic (as by default settings). Other files stored in any location on my drive (even within ~/Music) are properly found and listed. I've tried rescanning a dozen times. Of course, I've checked that this folder is not excluded from the scan list. Force-including it doesn't help either. Weird, no?
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arnaud

Correction and addition (I can't get the edit button to appear on my previous post):
It's just the songs and project (.lso files) that can't be recognised in the ~/Music/Logic folder, as audio files in that folder (or sub-folders) are seen actually. Other .lso files in other locations of the ~/Music folder are seen, as I was sying in my previous post.
Besides, this should not be a preferences or database file issue, I suppose, since LP was brand new installed for the 1st time on my MPB only a couple of days before I launched scanning with PM and noticed the issue.
    regards,
    Arnaud

  • Project Manager does not slip clips in timeline (references pre-trimmed timecode)

Using project manager to trim down 100GB worth of ProRes 444 footage, the footage gets trimmed and imported back into the project fine using no handles but the clips on the timeline still reference the timecode of the old pre-trimmed media. All the clips on the timeline are crosshatched.
As I set it to trim with no handles I can slip each clip to the start but if there were any handles on the trimmed media this would be a nighmare.

    Hi benita,
It should be working as expected, sorry you are having trouble. It looks like the common denominators are ProRes footage and Premiere Pro CC (7.1). This is happening on both Mac and PC.

  • Project Manager screws up well organized project

Take a completed PP project nicely organized with folders for content (sequences, clips,  audio, ae, graphics, etc). Use Project Manager to trim size so it can be archived for future use at a WAY smaller size then the original (which has lots of unused media in it).Reopen a month later for client changes. The folder that PM created is a bloody mess, because in just  takes all clips and dumps them in 1 folder during the trimming process. Very sloppy and unprofessional.

I realize what you mean. I was simply saying that maintaining folder structures and file names on your PC is the workaround I use. That way I only need the project/raw footage archived instead of my whole project. Since I keep all my elements in the same folders/structures no matter what. Then if one of my co-workers needs to edit something I worked on I simply give them my project file and since they have all the elements file names and folder structures the same as me.
They simply re-link the raw footage by getting it off one of our network servers. Then they are ready to begin editing.
Which allows you to also archive or re-edit old projects with ease compared to project manager being sloppy with all your stuff.
However I totally agree it would be better if the project manager allowed you to do this to begin with. I realize project mananger slops everything into one giant mess.
That is why I started doing it the way I mentioned. It's not a perfect solution but it beats using project manager in its current state.
So I apologize if I came accross in the wrong way.

  • Premiere cs6 unknown error during the project manager operation

It appears this is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed by Adobe.
I remember back in CS3 this was an issue and it still appears to be unresolved.  I'm using a Windows 7, HP Z workstation with Quadro FX graphics card, plenty of Ram, with an efficient RAID system. I need to provide a complete project (with files folder & assets in a central folder - maybe even trimmed assets) to my clients.  The Project Manager create Trimmed Project continually fails, as well as Collect files and Copy to New Location.  Following the Adobe instructions, no screensaver, turn off Premiere Autosave, don't use other programs that will impact machine usage - the results are still the same - unknown error - PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ADOBE ! ! ! ! So my question is, When will Adobe address this issue?
