PP and APO

Hi Guru's
can you give an insight on what is APO and how it is interfaced with PP module in SAP. Also give a detail example of how APO enhances the PP module in R/3 .  I will be thankful if u can explain me with a specific scenario, say for example discrete manufacturing in a normal R/3 system and a system interfaced with APO
thank u

Hi Nithiyaseelan,
APO stands for Advanced Planner and Optimizer. The transferring of datas from R/3 to APO by using the interface CIF (Core Interface). This CIF is BW components.
The transaction data relevant for planning, such as warehouse stock and sales or production orders is also transferred from the R/3 into APO via the CIF interface.
Aggregated actual data can be transferred to APO from OLTP, BW (Business Information Warehouse), Excel, and Legacy systems, and saved in InfoCubes.
The data transfer between R/3 and APO Systems is defined and controlled using the APO Core Interface (CIF). The CIF is the central interface for connecting APO to the existing R/3 System environment.
The forecasting data of demand plan is created as a result of the forecast.
You release the demand plan to Production Planning, which creates planned independent requirements for Supply Network Planning (SNP), and PP/DS. You can also transfer the demand plan to the operating system (OLTP - Online Transferring Process) as planned independent requirements.
The seamless integration with Supply Network Planning (SNP), and PP/DS supports an efficient S&OP process.
please let me know any clarification. if helpful, pls reward the points.
Thanks in advance,
Mohan R

  • BASE UOM different in R/3 and APO

    Hi Experts
I am working in a scenario where we have 2 R/3 boxes connected to 1 APO. The products are common across the boxes but locations are different. We are implementing GATP with Rules based substitutions for locations across the R/3 boxes. Since the confrmations in sales order in 1 R/3 box will have supplying locations lying in other R/3 box, we have set up all 3 systems (2 R/3 and 1 APO) under the asme BSG.
    1. Now there is a situation where there is a material defined with the same material number in both R/3 boxes but the base UOM is different (eg. In one box it is Kg and the other it is gram). All relevant conversions (Kg to gram and gram to KG) are already defined in respective R/3 material masters. It is evident that in APO I will be working with only one base UOM. I have transferred the material from one of the box and the base UOM transferred is KG. If I CIF the same material from the other box (for different location and different base UOM gram) I get an error as the there is a base UOM conflict in APO. Have you come across such a situation in any of your projects? If yes then how did you reslove it?
    2. Assuming that I am able to overcome the above problem by using user exits around CIF, I will have a situation where there is a material defined with base UOM as GRAM in one of the R/3 boxes and KG in APO (I manually simulated such a scenario by changing the base UOM in APO). In both R/3 and APO the appropriate UOM conversions have been defined. When I CIF stock of 10 gram, it comes in APO and appears as 10 KG. Is there a workaround for this situation.
Your response will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

  • CIF - Integration model name and APO application

    Hi Experts,
In the CFM1 Transaction, there are 3 mandatory inputs are Model name, Logical system and APO application.
Logical systems are customized in CFC1 transaction. I couldn't trace the model name and application creation.
What is the transaction to customize/Create the new Model name and APO application.
Hope this is very simple question to you and expect your soon.
    Thanks,
    Saravanan V

    Hi Somnath,
    Thanks for ur reply.
First I saved the selection as variant. But it was not updated in the IM table.
Then I tried to generate the model and now I can see the details when I use the F4 help.
So, to create a integration model need to generate the variant once.
    Thanks for the confirmation.
    Thanks,

  • Landscape planning with BI and APO

    Hello all,
This is more of planning question rather than issue.
If you have upgraded your R/3 system first to Unicode before the BI and APO/SCM - how did you manage the interface testing within BI and APO, especially on how to avoid impact on existing work on BI/APO.
    - DId you have to create a separate new landscape?
    - Did you simply copy infocubes in the existing BI side?
    - Did you also apply 'freeze' development work on both BI and APO?
    Thanks,
    Terry

  • Data flow between R/3 AND APO

How the chars and Navigational attributes are flowing in-between the R/3 AND APO ?
Why we need to maintain the chars and nav attrr in APO? . Any input will be highly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hello Nick,
Navigational Attributes : Characteristic attributes can be converted into navigation attributes. They can be selected in the query in exactly the same way as the characteristics for an InfoCube. In simple words an attribute is a characteristic that is logically assigned and subordinated to another characteristic. Navigational attributes offer a way to plan multiple objects while achieving optimum system performance in Demand Planning.
e.g. Costs of the cost center drilled down by person responsible: You use the attribute u2018Cost Center Manageru2019 for the characteristic u2018Cost Centeru2019. If you want to navigate in the query using the cost center manager, you have to create the attribute u2018Cost Center Manageru2019 as a navigation attribute, and flag it as a navigation characteristic in the InfoCube.
Characteristics : A planning object such as a product, location, brand or region.
The master data of Demand Planning or Supply Network Planning encompasses the permitted values of the characteristics, the characteristic values. Characteristic values are discrete names or numbers . For example, the characteristic 'location' could have the values London, Delhi and New York.

  • Integration between R/3 and APO

    Hi Friends
I had created integration model betwee R/3 , APO and activated
My R/3 material is in X (Ex 1000) plant.
Iam not able see my product in Locations Y & Z  (ex 3000 & 4000).
Iam able to see the product in Location  X(EX 1000 only)
what settings i have to be made in R/3 and APO.
    Please advise me..
    Regards,
    Srihari.

    Hi Srihari,
    You said that,
"My R/3 material is in X (Ex 1000) plant.
Iam not able see my product in Locations Y & Z (ex 3000 & 4000).",
does this mean that your material is not created at locations Y and Z in R/3.
If not it should be done.If your material is not created at locations Y and Z, obviously they are
not available in APO system at those locations( Y and Z).
    Regards,
    Rajendra.

  • We are upgrading EHP4,What are the scenarios we will check in ECC and APO

    Hi gurus,
    We are upgrading (ECC )EHP4
What are the scenarios we will check in ECC and APO, kindly tell me gurus.
    Regards

    Babu,
We live within a dream. The आत्मन् is real, all else is Illusion. Names are illusion.  If DB49 does not suit you, then call me nameless.
Before you even release the software into the test environment, you must perform unit testing.  Can every transaction that is used by your company be executed?  Does every userexit/enhancement still perform the same task?  Does every custom report work the same? All interfaces passing the proper data?
Merely testing the software itself will not give your company any assurance that it will support your business after you go live with it, so after unit testing comes integration testing and user acceptance testing.  You must interview Key business users, and from their input you must develop and execute tests for 'business processes'.  For example, one common business scenario (which contains many business processes), Order to Cash:  Check whether your upgraded systems supports your ability to receive and enter an order, plan the parts, obtain the RM, build the parts ship the order, and book the cash.  Or, another Scenario, Procure to Pay:  Check if you can plan RM parts, create/release PR, create PO, send PO to Vendor, receive PO in stock, pay invoice, close month for accounting purposes.
These are two major business scenarios in most companies that use ERP.  There are hundreds more that can be tested, If you work for a company that cannot afford to have any disruption in their business, then all activities that are normally done by any business user should be tested.
On the SCM side, during an ERP update, you have a smaller task (SAP usually does a good job with backward compatibility with their own modules).  BW extractors must be tested.  All integration models must be tested.  All userexits must be tested.  Publishing results/releasing results to ERP must be tested. The list goes on and on depending upon which SCM modules you have implemented.
    Regards,
    DB49

  • APO/BW: Verifying/Establishing a connection between BW and APO

    Hi
    1. Is there a way to see that my BW system is connected to an APO system, other than finding a name with “APO” in it under the Source System tree in BW?
    2. Also, if the connection does NOT exist between BW and APO, can you provide me with the steps on how do I establish such a connection?
    3. Does a successful  in “Generate Export DataSource” in BW indicate that my BW system is connected to APO DP?
    Thanks

. Is there a way to see that my BW system is connected to an APO system, other than finding a name with “APO” in it under the Source System tree in BW?
In source system tree, you will find all the systems that are connected to your BW system. The system name need not have to start with APO.
    2. Also, if the connection does NOT exist between BW and APO, can you provide me with the steps on how do I establish such a connection?
Transaction Sm59. you need to know the source and destination IP adresses. Usually, the baais will take care of connections.
    3. Does a successful in “Generate Export DataSource” in BW indicate that my BW system is connected to APO DP?
NO. Export generaion is within BW system; nothing to do with the APO system that is connected.

  • Inspection lot status not matching R/3 and APO

    Hi,
I am getting an error in CCR report saying that "The inspection lot is in "released" status in R/3 but not in APO". Here I am giving the steps that I have followed to get this error. Please let me know why this error is coming. Can some give idea about this.
1.Planned order converted and released (not an early lot create material).
2.Good receipt done, inspection lot created.  Rescheduled “in” released process order prior to the original start date, in the planning board.  Dates update in the order in APO successfully,
The inspection lot shows in APO as the product is not forward processed.  (The stock will not appear until the usage decision is made.)  There is a CCR report discrepancy, error code 405.  The inspection lot is in "released" status in R/3 but not in APO.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ramesh M

    Hi Sajeev,
    Sorry for late response.
Yes,I have made changes to process order dates after GR.
And I am populating these date changes to Insp. lot in user exit in R/3 and sending that Insp Lot to APO using the function module CIF_ADD_INSPLOT_OUT.
I can see the date changes in R/3 as well sa APO.But the release status in R/3 is intact and APO is removed.
This is causeing CCR error 405.
Let me know if you need further information.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh

  • Withdrawal Qty don't match between ECC and APO

    Hi Experts.
I am facing a discrepancy for Withdrawal Qty between ECC and APO before delivery/PGI creation.
In ECC T.code MD63 I am able to see the withdrawal Qty as expected but in APO a duplicated withdrawal Qty is being created. But this is not happening for all materials, only some specifics materials. I did a check in Material Master data and I have no found any difference between a material that is working and one that is not working...
Can please somebody explain me why APO is dobling the Withdrawal Qty.
    Thanks a Lot
    Daniel Campos.

Please check wthether you have dp index duplication in this problem.
    Please follow the process.
For this process , you need to follow these steps .
    1. From the table /SAPAPO/MATKEY , find the product id of the product for which you feel there is problem .
    2. Find the location id from table /SAPAPO/LOC for the location.
    3. Use the above found 'product id' and 'location id' to find the dp index in table "/SAPAPO/DP_HEAD "  .
Enter the planning version ' 000 ' in this table . If there is some error you will find multiple entries of the 'dp index ' in this table for the ' 000 ' planning version. If error found use below program to delete the dp index .
    4.  Precaution should be taken before we delete the 'Dp Index' as the consumption history is lost due to this .          In the program  'Z_DEL_WITHDRAWL'  there are 2 check boxes " update " and " list ". List will show the DP index and update will delete it. Need to extremely careful in this program as wrong selection will cause problem .

  • Create Std Sales order and APO upgrade

    Hi Gurus,
I have a test case on  "Create sales order (ZSLR)" for which the expected result is" Sales order creation and APO upgrade". I am supposed to write the test steps for the above test case.
Please guide me the test steps on how to do the "APO Upgrade" for a std sales order.
Appreciate your help and suggestions .

    Hi Marc,
The ECC sales order display depends on the availability of integration
model and active ATP fields maintained in ECC material master
In APO, the product view display is controlled in Order view
