PP CC 2014.2 MXF Audio Bug

After clicking somewhere in a MXF timeline, short and loud audio distortions/noises randomly occur at playback.
This sometimes also happens while scrubbing trough a MXF timeline.
No effects on any audio track, just keyframe audio level adjustments.
Can somebody here reproduce this bug?
Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I tried exporting the sequence as XML V5, V4 and even V1, with the same result. The "Import Files" box opens, the queue bar is empty and it locks up.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 and AVCHD audio bug

The AVCHD audio is mangled by Premiere. Details below.
I recorded a 2 act play and I'm editing it in Premiere. Each act is about 1 hour so the camera recorded spanning MTS files.
Act 1 imported perfectly. No problem.
When importing act 2, I noticed some audio glitches and the audio quickly lost sync. After further investigation, I found that:
    - The AVCHD file plays perfectly fine in Quicktime player
    - The audio track in Premiere is exactly half the length of the video
    - When listening closely, it sounds like it plays 1 second, skips 1 second, plays 1 second, etc. Which is consistent with losing sync gradually and finishing the audio twice as fast as the video.
It seems related to the problem in this thread. I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

After posting the initial thread, I reinstalled Premiere Pro CC (7.0), created a new project, imported the AVCHD files and the audio was synched.
I then opened the file in CC 2014 and the audio was still synched.
So it appears to be a bug in AVCHD conforming in 2014 only. While not a fix, I hope this workaround will help others.

  • Re-Conforming and Audio Bug nightmares

    Hi,
First, let me say that I've searched throughly about those problems before I came in here.
I own a company and we used to use FCP7 to edit our weekly show.
I've moved all suites to Premiere CC 7.2.1
Our workflow is a bit different than before, since PP can handle original files, in our case .mts sony AVCHD FullHD from FS700, NX70 a Handycam and the MP4 from GoPro Hero3.
Our main problems right now have been:
    Re-Conforming:
I've searched about this and these are the possibles solutions
    - Turn the creation of XMP off
    - Disable XMP metadata linking
    - Direct the cache and database files to the same external harddisk that our media is in
    - Direct the scratch disk to the same Harddisk as the media.
    - Media been on a Network volume and Computer clock / daylight saving time shifting.
    - Before opening a project in a different machine, make sure to redirect (to find) the cache to the disk your using
I must say everything above was tested and dealt with but still. We have seen projects re-conforming by it self everytime we open PP. It normaly happens when moving from computer to another one. But sometimes happens on the same machine, between two days apart, with nothing different.
And the re-conforming takes a lot of time.
    Audio Bugs:
Sometimes the waveform doesn't show up. Now this has a workaround, just go to clip > audio options > re-render audio. But it's annoying.
And more serious sometimes we got an audio looping 1sec over and over, even though the original is perfect, trying to re-render doesn't help. re-importing the clip doesn't help. Only deleting ALL the preview files (because you can't know which is which) that works.
Is there anyone with solutions (definitive) for these problems?
    Regards

    Hi Jim,
As I said, I'm using external USB 3.0 drives. No Network drives whatsoever.
    All these:
    System
    Projects
    Cache/Scratch
    Media
    Exports
Are in the USB 3.0 Harddisk.
If you are refering to the same drive as the OS that's not a solution as in some machines I have 160GB SSD.
    Cheers,

  • Audio bug with WAV files: use mp3, not wav for syncing long audio files

    Just a tip:
I've noticed another audio bug in Presenter (including 7.05) but there is a workaround. I often export the audio as a single, long clip from pre-recorded lecture videos, and sync it with the powerpoint slides in Presenter. I've found it easiest to import the long audio file into the first slide, then sync using the Edit Audio window. I find that much easier to use than the Sync audio window.
However, If you use WAV format for the imported audio file, sometimes Presenter will simply refuse to play back anything beyond about 5 minutes into the timeline in the Edit Audio window. Nothing fixes it - restarting, re-importing, etc. However the problem goes away if you save the audio as mp3.

I would recommending posting your question in the Final Cut Pro forum.
Have you tried trashing your preferences?

  • CS4 PPro Audio Bug???

This has to be an audio bug, right?
There is a "main" sequence consisting of 14 nested sequences. Each of the 14 nested sequences are a "target" sequence (Adobe help terminology) made by nesting a multi-camera sequence and going through the cut process.
When these 14 targets are made, the audio works.
Now, back into the main sequence, two of the 14 have no audio. Render Work Area and Render Audio do not help.
I went to the target sequence and its audio was now gone. So I tediously rebuilt the sequence and the target audio was now present. Went to the Main sequence and the audio was present.
But then I performed a Render Audio on the main, and immediately upon completion, the audio was gone!!!! Just for sequences 1 and 2 (the audio is still functional with the other 12 sequences).
I repeated the entire tedious experiment, and it happened a second time!!!
I compared the Sequence Settings of the working sequences and the non-working sequences, they appear to be identical.
(Vista 64-bit, quad, 12GB, blah, blah, blah).

What kind of media, what sequence settings?

  • Podcast Audio Bug

When playing podcasts the sound cuts out after system notifications and locking and unlocking. It's exactly like the audio bug I experienced on my first gen phone after an OS upgrade. I'm not sure if this is new since upgrading to 4.0.1 It only happens with podcasts, other MP3s don't have the problem. Can anyone else replicate this?

MP3s and other media files can vary widely in the kind of metadata they carry and Apple certainly accounts for that in their software. The fact that I stumbled on a scenario that AppleTV trips over but all of it's other products do not, I would think it would be something I would think Apple would be interested in fixing, instead of saying that it's not their problem. I would assume Apple would want the same level of quality with AppleTV that it has with iTunes, iPod and the iPhone.
in which case, this is not the place to report "bugs" to apple.. this is a user-to-user support forum (no apple input).
if you want to report your "bug" then you need to do it via the official channel - http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

What can I do?, I've been reporting this bug since I have memory, the "audio cuts out" bug is still present, and is really annoying.

  • MXF audio not included with video

In PP CS6, the audio of MXF files are not coming in.  The video is fine but there is no audio.  Is there a glitch or an update that fixes this problem?

The workflow that you are describing, of bringing the footage in through the Media Browser, is the best workflow for bringing in assets.
Tapeless formats tend to store their metadata in a large number of strange places - the Media Browser is designed to look for all of it and import it intact.  That is why the audio comes in from that workflow, where importing it doesn't.
CS5 tried to grab all of those bits of information through the import system, but it wasn't always successful.   We've built the Media Browser to fix those shortcomings in CS5.
So, in short, it's not that there is a bug in CS6 file import.  It's that you are using the wrong tool for the job.  Fortunately, you've already found the right tool.

  • Replace Clip Audio Bug

I've come accross a really anoying bug (reported) and I wondered if any of you bright sparks had a known workaround.....  It's happening specifically with Canon MXF (source camera XF-100).
The simplest way to recreate the bug is to place a Canon MXF file on the sequence (1 video track, 2 mono audio tracks), right click and replace with (the same) clip from bin.   The audio in track 2 is lost and replaced with audio from track 1.   Arrgghh!!!!
The reason I'm doing replace footage a lot is because I'm having to render/replace to run lots of footage through PluralEyes, and if I don't do this (it's a mixture of footage sources) things don't sync well.  However, when I bring the sequence back in to Premiere Pro I use replace clip to get the original audio back - except it's losing it!!!  Arrgghh!!!
What I'm losing is the wireless mic inputs which is the most important part!
Any good workarounds that don't involve manually extracting audio and placing just the audio?

What plural eyes gives us is the ability to load dozens of clips from multiple cameras of an event and have it sync them all ready for editing multicam.  Since some of the cameras don't have timecode (AVCHD) and some of them are DSLR, it's a major PITA to do it manually.  Yes we could do it manually, but having done it that way prior to PluralEyes it can take several hours, whereas Plural Eyes does it in about 10 mins or less (usually less).
When I was on the Mac, PluralEyes seemed to sync everything perfectly.  Since moving to the PC I've found that the AVCHD and DSLR files don't sync as well unless I Render & Replace the audio for ALL footage.   That works, but leaves me with untold numbers of additional replacement audio files plus duplicate clips in the project.  It can easily go from just a few hundred clips to several thousand clips, which makes project loading much slower, a pain to keep moving all the new files between PCs and of course lots more files to keep track of and organize (and reconnect) in the project folder.   So, reconnecting (replace from bin) to the original footage works well, except for thi one bug.  What a major PITA !!!!
What I've ended up doing it adding a second copy of the footage's audio and replacing just that channel for now.  Because the XFs are the long running cameras there aren't as many clips, but I sure hope that Adobe fix this one!

  • .MXF Audio Cutting Out

Editing a seuqnece with footage from a Canon XF105. I use these cameras quite often, however every once in awhile a bug creeps up with the audio the camera recorded. For some reason it will just cut out while on the timeline; volume settings are all checked, and other audio files play, but the audio from the camera simply doesn't play (video on the linked clips are fine). If I quit PP and re-open, the audio will be fine for some amount of time, then randomly cut out.
It's not every clip imported, only a random few and happens about once every six or so projects. Normally I just quit and re-open, however I'm doing an extended project today and it's annoying to keep having to do to cut my footage. Any suggestions? Seems random it doesn't happen to every MXF clip on every project, only a few here and there. Also, if I export while the bug is happening the exported file has no audio on those clips, but if I re-open and export right away, audio is fine.
The footage is pulled right from the CF card the XF105 records to and dragged into PP for import. Sequence settings are set to "Match" when footage is applied to the timeline. Working on a windows 7 machine with PP CS6 full version.

Yes! I have the same issue too with me Motorokr s9 stereo BT headset and my Jawbone Icon -- This happens both when playing music via the iPod app OR when speaking on the phone. I can't put the phone in my pocket or else this happens!!! I also can't put it on the desk then walk around my 12x12 office without the dropouts. Having to hold the phone close to the headset kinda defeats the purpose. BTW, my 3GS worked almost flawlessly with these devices. I know, early-adopter syndrome but REALLY! I really rely on the BT headsets
Just got off the phone with Apple Support -- they were ver nice and helpful. They've scheduled me a Genius appt for tomorrow morning so they can run diags on the iPhone. They've also asked me to bring the headsets.

  • CC 2014 H.264 + audio (w/ GPU and Multiprocessing)

    15" Late 2013 rMBP, 750m, 2.3 i7, 16GB
I so understand why Adobe took the H.264 codec out of CC 2014 and has directed us to AME. I'm not complaining about that. Todd Kopriva has a good write-up here: http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2014/06/adobe-media-encoder-h-264-mpeg-2-wmv-after-eff ects.html
In his Method #1 he describes using a QT PNG and watch folder in AME to take advantage of the GPU and Multiprocessing capabilities of AE – however this does not allow a video file to be exported with audio.
"The fastest way to create videos in these formats using Adobe Media Encoder with After Effects is to use the After Effects render queue to export a losslessly encoded master file (e.g., using the PNG video codec in a QuickTime .mov container file) to a watch folder that Adobe Media Encoder monitors. You can assign encoding presets to a watch folder in Adobe Media Encoder so that it automatically encodes using whichever settings you have specified. One advantage of using this method is that it uses After Effects performance features for rendering (such as GPU acceleration and multiprocessing where applicable) and Adobe Media Encoder performance features for encoding (such as parallel encoding). The disadvantage of using this method is that it occupies the main After Effects application for the entire rendering operation, during which time you can’t use After Effects for anything else."
Any idea what the best (and most efficient) route is to get my videos exported as H.264's with audio? Just exporting to AME is rather slow since it doesn't do multiprocessing....
    Thanks for the input!

Todd's suggested work flow is a very good one. Render to a lossless file (which uses multi-processing, GPU acceleration, etc.) and then use the Adobe Media Encoder to make your final deliverable. That's the workflow I've had since Adobe introduced the Adobe Media Encoder. I have never used AE to create a final deliverable because it sucked at h.264 encoding.
Now, Todd suggests rendering your lossless file to a watch folder so that AME picks up and encodes your deliverable automatically after the intermediate file finishes rendering from AE. I've not used the watch folder method because I have different requirements for different projects, but it works for a lot of people.

  • Media Encoder/After Effects CC 2014 Only Export Audio

I've been having a strange problem with Media Encoder CC 2014 & After Effects CC 2014. • Why is Dynamic Link between Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014 not syncing audio changes?

When I try to use a Dyamic Link between something I've cut in Premiere and a composition in After Effects, if it is simply an audio level change it will not update in AE.  Only if I alter the Video track does it then take the changes reflected.  Any suggestions as to what is causing this?
Running Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014.

As Dave alludes, AfterEffects is all about the visual changes ... or at least, mostly. For changes to the audio outside of PrPro's internal controls, highly suggested you use Audition instead. It is all about the sound ... and yes, will update PrPro when used correctly.

  • After Effects CC 2014 not scrubbing audio

Hey, I'm using After Effects CC 2014, and none of the usual shortcuts are scrubbing audio (I've tried command-drag, ctrl-drag, and alt-drag). I'm not sure where the problem is. Is there something new I'm not aware of or some kind of preview setting that I need to adjust?
Edit: When I scrub the audio, the volume levels change in the audio panel, but no sound is produced. When I do a RAM preview, the sound is there.

I have 13.1.1.3, I'm running OS 10.9.5, and which system specs would be relevant? Just the hardware overview?
