PP CC 2014 crashes while locating media

Hello geniuses of the world-
I'm having a problem with crashes while locating media.  If I let PP search for the media, it eventually crashes with the standard dialog box.  If I hit Cancel and try to locate it manually, a weird white box appears (clearly it's a dialog, but it never renders fully to the screen UI, so I can't tell what it says) then I have to cmd+opt+esc to force quit the unresponsive PP.
This only occurs when trying to locate media on a Promise Pegasus2 RAID array connected via Thunderbolt 2.  If I locate media on a Glyph backup, it loads the "manual" locate browser or automatically locates the media flawlessly.
To me it seems apparent that it's a problem with the Pegasus but I just figured I'd double check and see if anyone else has had this problem, maybe it's a stupid little thing I'm not remembering to do.
Specs:  Mac Pro 2013 (garbage can), Pegasus2 R8 Thunderbolt 2 RAID in RAID 10 (not my first choice but it's not my hardware) formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)/have also tried ExFat to no avail.
Cheers,
Henry

Hi,
What is the format of the file that you are trying to locate.
Try to move some media on the internal drive and try to locate it from there.
If you feel that the drive is malfunctioning then open the project and use project manager to send the media and project file to the internal drive.
Check if it helps or not.
Thank You
Arjun

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 crashes when "locating media"

    The problem;
Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 crashes when "locating media".  I am working on a project that has not given me any problems for the last 200 hours.   About a week ago I notice that the .proj file size was 276mb and found this odd because my largest project to date was never larger than 80mbs.  I thought that the premiere was running slow because of the project size. As luck would have, when my client made their their final changes 2 days ago, I opened the project and premiere would hang on the locating media window and then would crash. I called Adobe and spent an hour on the phone with them to no avail.
    Project workflow
    - 700gb of 5d footage
    - 20 sequences under 5 minutes
    - Dynamically linked files with AE
    - Warp Stabilized about a dozen clips of under 5 sec
    - On every sequence color correction adjustment layer with  RGB Curves, Three way color corrector and sharpen filter
    - I kept old versions of the sequences (I was in version 5 before the crash)
    What I have tried;
    - Unsuccessfully tried to open auto-save files for this project.
    - Successfully opened other older non relevant project
    - Removed Mercury playback engine in the project settings
    - Cleaned out media cache database through pp in media Preferences
    - Manually deleted cache files in /Common/Media Cache Files and /Common/Media Cache
    - Tried importing sequences into new .proj file; it would crash as a result.
    What "worked".
I was able to open it on another computer. save it under another file name. bring it back to my original computer and open it without problem. I lost about 3 days working through this problem, I missed my deadline. and angered the client.  I was able to use a friends IMAC to "fix" the problem, however I can't always count on him being there if it happens again.
    Questions.
    - What the hell happened? Why could I open it on one computer and not on the other?
    - Is there a way to fix a corrupted .proj files on a PC?
    - What should the average file size be, before it becomes unstable? (I'm pretty that my file size was bloated by all the previous versions of the sequences)

  • CC 14 crash on locating media

I've recently start to experience Premiere hanging when trying to locate media. I first noticed it on a project that had a variety of drive sources, but which I have managed to condense to all local. Today, I started a brand new project, 1 media source, 1 file it had to reference apart from the the cache and hang. I've had  quick look at the only other similar question I could find and sorry guys, but if I have to start removing lines of code out of a project I am lost ( or perhaps I read that answer wrong)
I don't use Premiere much, being an Avid editor, but thought I would give it a try. My initial experience sang it's praises and my company is considering it as a replacement for FCP, but if it has these problems reconnecting to media or in the first instance loosing connection to media not moved, I have serious doubts. Please help out. In desperation I have uninstalled and re installed Premiere, wish me luck.
    PS. running Windows 7 Pro

As you can see, your Intel graphics card driver is crashing.
Updating the driver from Intel's website.

  • AE CC 2014 crashed while rendering scatter fx

The program keeps crashing and after rebooting and trying to render it crashed trying to render Scatter. What going on? These simple files and all I get is crash. The program also failed while reading some Quicklime files. This is very unstable and I can render projects that worked well on my older version. I have 32gb of memory a GTX 780m cards and the performance is totally bad. The to use OpenGL when available is not showing up in Carton.

If you're asking about GPU acceleration of the Cartoon effect, according to the page on what’s new and changed in After Effects CC (12.0), "Rewrote Cartoon effect so that it doesn’t prevent the use of Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing. The Cartoon effect also no longer uses GPU acceleration." The Cartoon effect hasn't used GPU acceleration since version 12 (CC 2014 is version 13).
If you're talking about something else, please explain further.

What "older version" were you using?

What was different about these QuickTime files compared to ones that did work correctly?

  • Keynote Crashes While Browsing Media

I am trying to find some music for my slideshow and any time I start browsing through my iTunes library keynote will freeze and needs to be force quit. I tired this on my G5 and my Powerbook and both are having problems. My Powerbook will just crash keynote without needing to force quit while searching through media. I'm thinking iTunes 7 has something to do with this but I didn't have Keynote installed before iTunes 7 came out. Any ideas?

    Matthias,

    Hi there,
I keep having issues with Speedgrade crashing randomly while scrolling timeline of videos.
I'm using the latest version on an iMac running OSX 10.9.5
It seems to be happening randomly, but so often it almost makes it unusable.

    Hi,
I have the same poblem on iMac 27" late 2013 3,4 GHz i5 24 Gt 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M. Same OSX 10.9.5.

  • Dreamweaver CC 2014 crashes while start

I'm trying to get my Dreamweaver started for a week without any luck.
I was reading through all support forum solutions but nothing helped.
Dreamweaver crashes when I try to start it on my Mac.
I tried to re-install several times, log out of Creative Cloud, tried to restart, tried to enable and disable fonts in Font Book.
My Console gives the error message:

How can I get Dreamweaver running on my Macbook? Photoshop work perfectly. Dreamweaver doesn't even start at all. The icon in the Dock is only jumping around for a few seconds and is disappearing afterwards. Nothing happens, it isn't opening at all.
I really tried every solution I could find on this forum.
    Thanks

    Thank you Nancy!
    It finally works now.
On that page you send me I found the Java version that works: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572

    2. Open Finder
    3. Press Cmd+Shift+G
    4. Enter /Users/<Your Account Name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ in the dialog that appears and press Enter key

  • Premiere Pro and Media Encoder crash while rendering H.264

Very recently, a problem's popped up where Premiere Pro and Media Encoder (CC) will crash while rendering H.264.
It's only while rendering H.264 - other formats seem to work fine.
And I don't mean that it returns an error, I mean it hard crashes with a Windows "Adobe Premiere Pro CC has stopped working" popup.
It doesn't crash at a consistent time during the render, even on the same project. Occasionally, it won't crash at all, but this is usually not the case.
I've tried disabling CUDA and my overclock to no avail. Please help!

On the topic of opening a project on the exact same version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 (yes it is definitely up to date, and the 2014 version), to overcome this export crash problem that ZachHinchy has brought up - you can't. Technically speaking, one should easily be able to open a Premiere Pro CC 2014 project from one system on another system running the exact same up to date, legitimate version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 without any kind of error. But for some reason, this has been disallowed(?) by Adobe. It has facepalm written all over it. Does anyone agree that this is at least a little bit silly?
I have tried exporting a Final Cut Pro XML from my project to try and open the sequence at uni on a Mac, so I can render my project when I finish my edit. It half works - the clips are there, but the sequence is gone - i.e. 12 hours of painstaking sequencing and micro-edits that had me at several points in time wanting to insert my hand through my monitor with enough force to make a large hole. I really cannot afford redo this sequence, as my assignment is due tomorrow, and I have to work at 6 oclock in the morning, so I also cannot afford to stay up till the early hours of tomorrow morning. Wish me luck that some miraculous event has taken place overnight that will somehow allow me to just open my project, on the same version of Premiere, on a Mac, without hassle. (Apple OS is not friendly to anything but its own selfish nature, so I am having doubts).
Adobe please, if you can do anything at all to help, you will save my assignment, and my faith will be restored. Otherwise, I'll just get my money back and buy Final Cut instead.
    I cant even
If I find a way to fix either of these problems, I will post straight away.

  • Final Cut Pro X crashes while restoring imovie Media

After starting, Final Cut Pro X crashes while restoring imovie Media from in imported IMovie Project.
    How can it be stopped?
Is it possible to"reset" Final Cut therfore it is not trying to import the imovie project (Default start)

Is the iMovie project in the Final Cut Projects folder? If it is, remove it from there before launching the application.

  • Serious Error shutdown message while exporting media

I am encountering an odd error message (from which I have never seen) when trying to export a project from Premiere Pro CC.
The error message (Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project) shuts down Premiere about 11-25% into the export. If I remove all effects on the media, the file exports fine, but will not if the effects remain on the media.
I have checked the permissions (as per Adobe forum advice), and they all allow me to read and write files, so that is not the issue. I have also restarted my computer, uninstalled / reinstalled Premiere, and tried rendering in different outputs, none of  which have worked.
I also have the error code, but am unaware of how to attach it to this question.
    Set up:
    Late 2012 iMac
    Mac OSX 10.9.2
    3.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB memory
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB
    Premiere Pro CC
    Using H2.64 in .MP4 files
    Installed Plug ins:
Red Giant Magic Bullet Color Suite (used DeNoiser II in media)
Has anyone any clue as to what I should do/try next?
    Thanks for any input,
    Michael

  • CC Premiere 2014 crashes on start

CC Premiere 2014 crashes on start. "Adobe Premiere Pro CC quit unexpectedly..."
    retina macbook pro, osx 10.9.3.
Have had to use CS6 for months,

Thanks Kevin - I have no plugin folders in my premiere CC installation - where would I find the plugins for uninstalling?
    I have http://fxfactory.com
installed on my machine... and it has previously shown up in AE + Premiere... though I can't get Premiere CC to open, nor can I see any Premiere CC plugin folders..
( only folders are : configuration and presets )
I would recommend uninstalling FXFactory as it has been the source of crashes for this release. See the Noise Industries site for any updates. Use their uninstaller. Plug-ins are located here on Mac: User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/8.0/MediaCore/
    sean healy wrote:
Could you also point me to any specific folder addresses where I should try and delete preferences or any other premiere CC files that may be corrupted or need permissions checked etc?
Preferences are located here: User/Library/Preferences/com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.8.0.plist
It's easier just to relaunch with the Shift+Option keys held down until you see the splash screen.
    sean healy wrote:
... I'll have to check and see if AE CC does dynamic link to Prem CS 6...
It does not. You must have the exact same versions of these applications in order for dynamic link to function properly.
    sean healy wrote:
There seems to be a lot of users complaining specifically about Prem CC crashing on start - while all of their other apps work fine - it'd be great if Adobe addressed this...
OK. However, crashing on launch can occur for a variety of reasons, including installing plug-ins that are not updated for the version. I am investigating other cases and seeing if there's anything we can do from our side to prevent this from happening. I do appreciate your concern.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashing with rendering, freezing system, and more

    Hello,
I'm having some serious issues with Premiere pro on my late 2013 iMac.
    OSX 10.9.5
    3.2GHz Intel Core i5
    16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    NVIDIA FeForce GT 755M  1024MB
I'm working in 1920x1080 23.976fps. Media files are from sony FS700 .MTS and Cannon 5DmkIII .mov
Multiple times per day, PP crashes on me. It all started when I was getting really choppy playback which would be accompanied by this error message:
A Low Level Exception has occurred in ImporterMPEG (Importer)
This would soon after lead to the program freezing and me having to force quit the program. After contacting Adobe the first time about this persistent issue, the tech explained to me that it was a "Memory Leak" issue and that there was nothing that could be done. After the support team member ended our chat online before helping me solve my issue, I called support. I provided my case number and this person picked up where the helplessly left me and did the typical Adobe one fix all: He went into the hidden library and cleared all of my preferences, removed any third party plugins, and cleared the files in the root applications Adobe folder, renamed a folder "Adobe.Old" etc.
As I explained to the support team member on the phone, this is not a solution but rather a bandaid until it happens again.
Low and behold it has happened again. This time the support team member had me create a new System Administrator account on my computer thinking that there was a permissions problem with my other account which was conflicting with PPCC2014. While this was a major pain to switch between the new account and any other program that I had set up for day to day work, it allowed me to continue editing and at least (at a less efficient rate) get things done.
Now, while using my new System Administrator account, I am getting terrible crashes that not only stall the program, but force me to hard re-boot my computer. These crashes are accompanied by a terrifying looking screen that I was only able to capture once.
They've only become more intimidating as now I cant even see the program when this happens, but this is the only screen capture that did not turn out completely black.
I'm looking to see if anyone has had any extreme issues like this and if so how they were able to fix it. I've now spent 6+ hours with support and after the last one was told I would receive a personal email follow up by the end of the day (never happened) to take further actions based on the performance after the new account creation.
    I need help. Now.
    -John

    Hi John,
First of all, try this: Re: A low level exception occured in: Importer MPEG (Importer)
Next, make sure that if you updated OS X to 10.9.x, or later, you must check the following each time you update: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
    Other things to try:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
    Delete media cache
    Remove plug-ins
    Repair permissions
    Disconnect any third party hardware
Remove QT components from Mac HD > Library > QuickTime
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • IMovie crashes while launch

    Hi iMovie 4 iPhone Users,
my iMovie crashes while the start process.
This first happened after iMovie had crashed while working at a 30min project. Now I can't access to the project (some days of work). Any idea of what I could do?
    tech:
iMovie recently contains this 1 project.
only videos filmed by this iPhone 4
    a title song
    no stills
    Thanks!

I was having the same issue, and the steps below fixed my crash on launch issue in the latest iMovie 10.0.7 update. Try this...
    1. Locate your iMovie library in Finder (probably in ~/Movies).
    2. Ctrl-click on it, and click Show Package Contents.
    3. You should see a list of folders, one for each Event in your Library. Inside each Event folder, look for a folder called Transcoded Media.  Inside that folder, look inside the folder called High Quality Media.
    3. If you see any files with a filesize of zero bytes, delete it. (You could back up each file before deleting if it makes you more comfortable, but I had no problems just deleting them)
    4. Relaunch the application.
After I performed these steps, and to much relief, iMovie 10.0.7 launched just fine for me again. I hope this works for you...
